Is there any way of doing this?
Thanks
You can use a program called IconChanger, it can place the icons where you want in the gridlist. Download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567080.
When you open the program you just press MENU and Sort Current Items or something like that. Now you will see a list with all the names right, the first 3 is the first line in the startmenu and then the 3 following is the 2nd line and so on.
Thank you for your reply. But can you change the wallpaper for the honeycomb as well?
Yes you can, go to settings/today and disable TF3D, then go to pictures & videos (or album, I'm not sure which one) and find the wallpaper you want, tap and hold it till you get a list, chose "use this wallpaper as background" or something like that, set the transperency to 0% and you're ready to go.
And btw, go to settings and re-enable TF3D of course
In the later versions of WM, you can actually drag and drop the start menu icons around without the need of a 3rd party app.
Most WM6.5.1 roms will support this but WM6.5 does not.

I think the Cube is much nicer and I don't want 2 different menu interfaces its only confusing so do someone know how to disable the old startmenu? or ultimate make the Cube appear when I press the windows button
there is no need for, just dont press the menu button
the cube would need 10 sides to have all of the startmenu. sometimes you NEED the menu
why should the cube open with menu button ? it opens with gesture.
sorry this thread makes no sense for me.
i disabled the cube its nothing more than a ram eating nice launcher. and Ultimatelaunch can do that better and is easy to customize.
One of the 3rd party start menu programs has 2 options, if you press the little windows flag it launches the normal wm menu, and if you press start it gives you big menu, i spose it would be nice if the windows flag could launch the cube (and maybe chaged to a little icon of a cube) and the start bar would launch the normal menu.
because the startmenu isn't fingerfriendly, and its ugly oldstyle, and it's not needed to have 2 menusystem
both cube and startmenu. Or actually there's 3 menusystem, if you count in launchers from todayscreen.
I guess iCube could replace old startmenu.
also windowsicon already looks like a cube

I see you are asking this for several days now. in all kind of forums.
I don't have the answer for you, but i will tell you how i would try to find the reg key for example.
I would take a program that takes over the start button function ( quickmenu)
Then i will take a reg editor that can compare 2 registries (CEregeditor)
ok
step 1. make a copy of your registry
step 2. install quickmenu
step 3. compare your old registry with the new one and look wich regkey's quickmenu changed and added. (with the option to replace the windows startbutton on offcource)
step 4. try to find the "one" reg key change and try to make it so that it will start for example biotouch.exe
I hope i did get you started, as i'm not a programmer nor i hae any interest in the function you want to make, i will not try to do it myself therefor i wish you good luck with it and i hope for you that you will find it.
Greetz,
how do i get rid of senseless threads ? hehe
thank you re-mi I will try your description
regards
go to the link in my signature, download the Classblack zip file.. and take vjtogglealphaii from it and put it in your startup folder in "/windows/startup"
itll take off both your start menu and your softkeys... if you need to change anything message me ill tell you how to change the registry
I dont get HTC. on the windows 6.1 version first we had a programs tab, then the home tab so we could NEATLY add icons. All of a sudden in 6.5 on their Sense 2.5 GUI we only get NINE MASSIVE ICONS which isnt enough (think how big they must be on LEO!!!), and we have the start menu loading up all the icons in a very messy way (I keep searching around for my software).
So can someone figure out how to get 4x4 or 5x5 icons???
Please??
id like to know as well
you can go to windows>start menu>programs and organise the start menu to your liking. i hear ya on the icons though. stupid move. the programs tab with 30 icons was the best. that's the main reason i stick with 2.1 builds. and i apply the 50 icon hack as well.

OK, I know I should search, but can you/someone please point me to "the 50 icon hack"?
BTW: I completely agree about this defficiency of the 2.5 vs 2.1 TF3D. 30 (or 50!) is better than 9.
is this "50 program hack" for the programs tab or the start menu because im trying to find a way to put more items on the new manila start menu

I think he's referring to the Programs tab in TF3D2.1...which is what I'm interested in. But if I could add more icons to the new Home-Screen icon array I might like it...
Hi
Map any button in the Manila 2.5 Home tab quick links to third party launcher like WKTask launcher or my action and you are done
all credit goes to smaberg for this
Touch X Xtended StartMenu -add shortcuts to startmenu, now 50 shortcuts, original is 30. (you must add the name and shortcut in regestry to get the last 20 to work, im working on a program for that) Touch_X_XTended_Start_Menu.cab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=202860&d=1247055672
it says start menu, but it adds 50 icons total to the programs tab in touchflo. not sure about the standard windows start menu.

Tried it -- works great!
I tried to do this myself manually a few days ago...or maybe I was trying to add more icon-links to the TF3D2.5 Home screen...whichever -- I must have missed some reg-setting 'cause it didn't have any effect.
Thanks!

I'm loving my HD2, and I'm very happy with the HTC Sense UI, but there's a couple of things that are really bugging me.
One of them is just stupid.
I'm a developer myself, but a Windows dev, not really mobile, and there's NO WAY ON THIS EARTH that I would EVER make a menu that only had 1 option in it.
With that in mind, why on earth do I have to go to Settings, Menu, and then All Settings, to get the settings menu???
Okay, I understand it going to the settings tab, but why there's a menu titled 'Menu' that only has the 1 option of 'All Settings' in it I'll never know. It would make much more sense to just have 'All Settings' instead of 'Menu'.
Can anyone in-the-know give some pointers on how this might be changed? A CAB file would obviously be preferable , but I'm happy to look into this a bit myself.
I know there's some über geniuses on these forums (suck suck). Can any of you help out?
yeah it's not very ergonomically sound
The 'original' settings shortcut is hidden, you can show it by modifying:
HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\HideSettings
Change it from 1 to 0, soft reset, then delete the settings shortcut in windows\Start Menu\Programs
edit: more info here (and it seems you can't delete the 'new' settings link)

Cheers mate. Bit annoying that we have to hack a step back to get some basic functionality, but better that than nothing.
Thanks
It is indeed a bit strange...
We can say that it is a kind of "protection"... To avoide people playing with your mobile to be directly in the settings ...
That is the only reason I see so far (maybe not a good one)
Well, what settings do you need that are in the original WM settings screen and not in HTC's 'More -> Settings'?
But yeah, the 'More' menu with only one item is pretty ridiculous indeed.
I have a question how to make guick link on main screen to settings (WM settings not manila settings)?
In BSB tweaks, there's the option to have Windows Settings as on/off. I have mine on, which gives me two "gear" icons - one is Settings, the other is Manilla Settings. The Settings icon takes me straight to the All Settings you mention.
Any good for you?
Title says it..
I have Manila 2.1 and I don't see the option to change the background for the start menu and lockscreen anywhere.
I know it's possible under settings/all settings/today - select - Use this as background: browse.. but it won't list any pictures. Only certain resolutions? Or file type?
Maybe there's a registry key?
Thanks.

Should be under settings tab in manila under personalize.
Nope, that's a manila 2.5 feature.
Its been awhile.
Check out Auto Wallpaper Changer.
Changes Lock screen, S2U2 and Home.

Hi.
open up start menu, and find "pictures & videos", (not "album"). open that and find the pic u want as the background. open the picture and select menu(bottom right) and choose "set as today background",and accept.this should change the background on the start menu and the lock screen background....well that is how i do it. Hope it helps.
hi all,
i have already researched this but havent found a solution..
im trying to have a different lockscreen wallpaper to my start menu
If you go to the Settings tab: Personalize, there are two wallpaper options.
Home Tab Wallpaper
Lock Screen Wallpaper
If you go to the "All Settings" and select the "Today" at the bottom is a Check Box:
"Use this picture as the background"
And you can browse for an image.
If you actually tried to use these three settings, you will find that the setting in the "use this picture as the background" is the same as the setting for the Lock Screen Wallpaper. Which is the same as the Start Menu. The Home tab, is part of HTC Sense, and is different than the other two. I want two different background images for the "Start Menu" and the "Lock Screen". Thus, equating to Three Total different backgrounds.
HELP!
not 100% sure, but i think what you desire is possible.
i think a file called "LS_LockScene_800x480.cpr" (for landscape) and "LS_LockScene_480x800.cpr" (for portrait) located in the \Windows folder contains a reference to a wallpaper file. i think if you change this reference (AFTER setting start menu and home screen wallpapers), you might be able to get a different lock screen wallpaper. i'm not certain if the mentioned files are actually "active" because i've noticed quite a few more files in my \Windows folder that might be the "active" files such as "htc_LS_LockScene_800x480.cpr" and "htc_LS_LockScene_480x800.cpr"
i seem to recall reading about CPR files and how they can be edited to achieve various styles of lock screen, incoming call screen (if using native WM dialer) and in call screen (if using native WM dialer), and alarm screen (if using native WM alarm application). so in case my suggestion doesn't work, try searching about CPR files and how to edit them and what each one is meant for.
finally, if you notice my signature, i played with lock screens about a year ago and i wrote a thread about it...so all of the above is the little bit that i remember from my experience earlier. i believe there is also an editor (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=525499) that can ease the process of making advanced changes in CPR files.
let us know if any of the above helps. if it does, why not post here with a tutorial? good luck!
