I've upgrade my p 3300 a few weeks ago with Artemis_touch_1.0_WWE_rapid
IPL 1.14.0001
SPL 1.14.000
GSM 02.67.90
OS 3.7.0.0
After some days a freeze and soft reset, I made a hard reset, and re-use the upgrade soft ware.
Now its completly block on the boot page with HTC.
I use RUU(in( Artemis_touch_1.0_WWE_rapid) in the Bootloader but it run but after 3% : error 270
If a use a newer RUU ( Release_Aje_fr_1.90Full_YuanYuan) : error 260
please help me I completly lost !

I had almost the same problem. I intented to change my ROM with an WM6 but it faild and the PDA is some kind dead it freezes in the boot screen. is there some tool to change the rom to an original HTC rom or thre is no help. I hope somebady can help me. the version of the ROM that apears on the screen is:

u can install it and then change to one on english its what i will do today and i saw how to enter in 3 color bootloader mode ON/OFF boton + VOCAL + RESTART then holding the ON/OFF + VOCAL

to everybody who is stuck at HTC screen. The only,and i mean the ONLY way to fix this is to find the original rom for your provider !!! belive me,i`ve tried every possible other way.
SD Card Flashing wont work coz your devices are probably CID Locked,so it goes only to 3% flashing and restarts.Finally I found original o2 ROM (German) and it worked like a charm Even the original o2 (English) ROM did NOT work,it had to be the German one,coz probably the device came with German ROM originally !!!.
So my suggestion is,stop trying to flash it with different ROM`s and spend some time finding original ROM from your provider and it has to be the same language as your provider. even if it`s WM6 and your device was originally was WM5,as long as its from your provider and same language it should flash with no problem.I spent 2 weeks to find this out ))

I have the same problem and I've come to believe that this is the only solution. Just one thing: I didn't back up ROM before I tried to flash (talk about a noob mistake).
So, I ask, I plead, I beg... can anyone tell me where to get an original Orange France ROM for the Artemis (SPV M650)?
To my knowlegde you cant backup the rom from your device. whenever you change your rom, use the USPL tool. It is a golden rule until something better is made.
Here are some tips:
First make sure you have a original factory rom from your provider/brand/etc.
Check with a soft reset if code: SPL 1.11000 appears on the the boot screen. (then it is CID unlocked) Any other number and it is locked so you have to USPL first before you change to any custom rom.
If you flash a factory rom then the SPL resets to a non SPL 1.1100 number again. Use USPL to CID unlock again.
Also avoid Vista (especially 64bit) to use the USPL tool. Do it on a windows XP machine. Also there reports of glitches in the usb connection and active sync when doing upgrades or USPL. So keep you system as clean as possible. Dont use a USB hub and disconnect any other usb devices just to make sure.
Also remove your SD / SDHC card before doing a upgrade.
Sometimes the new rom misses some stuff when flashing. When this happens just flash the rom again. But first make sure if its still CID unlocked by soft reseting and check if SPL 1.1100 else use USPL first.
Even if you did all that, there still can be things that can go wrong. So if you absolutely confident to do a custom rom then do it. Otherwise use original upgrades from your provider

The problem:
use USPL to get rid of the CID....count goes up to 100% screen shows black with green text, then pops to white. I need to do a soft reset to get it running again.
Then i use ROM Update Utility to update my p3300....and it still keeps hanging on 3%....damn. i get mad...!! Have read almost all here online...no virusscanner, no firewall....I use win XP.
i even tried without memory card and phone card....and nothing seems to work.......

I've just got back my P3300 from repair, they changed the main board. With the previous main board I was able to upgrade the device and I was using the B&B versions.
But with this new board I'm not able to upgade the SPL. When I try to upgade the device after and start the start_uspl .exe the 10...20... ....100 my device become an interresting "blue screen" status and only the reset help to get out from this status. If I start the RomUpdateUtility.exe after the upgrade I got the error message #270

This is not the solution for the problem. I've tried it:
Plug in USB cable. Hold voice recorder button and press reset button. Bootloader will appear (Three color stripes). Then you may flash up ROM. I tried exactly the way you described in the USPL_manual and everything went well till I got to a stage where I was asked to click the update button which I did. After then there was a window which showed "updating from current version to version 9.99". I was confused at this point but clicked "continue" and after this stage I got an error message and there was no longer a connection bw my PDA and my computer.

first I would like to thank you for goooood job to many people here !
Back to my problem. I have HTC Artemis (T-Mobile MDA Compact III), OS WM6 T-Mobile Czech version.
I ran start_uspl.exe on my computer. The part in DOS based screen seems to finish everytime OK, but finally the connection with PC is lost. Therefore when the PDA Phone ROM Update Utility starts cheking version the error "lost connection with PC" appears . PDA stay in "black screen" mode and only hard reset start it again as usual.
Does anybody have the same problem? Any idea, how to solve it ?

When the screen goes white, don't restart. Just start flashing to the new ROM. Worked for me
Unfortunately it not a white screen, it a black one, connenction lost with the PC, and only the reset PDA helps to restart the unit again....

Same situation as above. Depending on the Artemis, the screen might go white or black. Just don't freak out and keep on flashing the USPL. It WILL work and then reboot. Then you can flash the actual ROM you want.
Hello from an absolut newbie trying his first upgrade,
And I have just experienced the same problem than lenocs.
I have run start_uspl.exe, but when the screen is suposed to become white or dark, it becomes dark and the artemis is in fact totally off and connection is lost.
Anyway I supossed that it was because the scrren got black and I tried to run the update utility, but I´ve got an error (the terminal is disconnected or similar) and nothing happens.
I have had to soft reset the terminal and fortunatelly it seems that I still have my previous ROM and it seems that it works. But, do you know if there could be some "side effect" because the first step of start_uspl script?
Anyway I would like to move to WM6, so, any suggestion would be really appreciated.

As I've said, I'm a newbie, so I was just woried because I thought I had "bricked" my new atemis.
How can I know now the USPL number?
Anyway I tried the star_uspl again (I'm a crazy newbie) and it failed. The artemis went off almost inmediately.

I think the problem is in SPL version 3.13 (or maybe anyone newer than 1.11).
Try different Artemis USPL - for me worked version from this page:

It's very confusional, because file sizes and also dates are the same as in unfunctional version, but this one worked.

I bought a 8gb card the week before, so I needed to update the rom in order to have my new SDHC working. But whn I was trying to update the rom, through UPSL 1.1, I had an error. This was the first time I had an error because I have modified the room many times before. My error was about a CMD.EXE issue, something like Error code line 26 "can´t spawn cmd.exe" so I was not able to change my rom. What I did was to copy CMD.EXE from Windows/System32 and put in the same folder where I had the start_uspl file, and finally works!
Do not ask me why, but this was the only way I could make works the update process.
Just try.

any way to upgrade was wrong ->> error 270
My good way was:
1. Downgrade to WM5 - original shipped ROM 1.12.405.1(link found on Wiki pages)
2. Under WM5 run USPL to unlock CID (now without any errors)
3. Final STEP - Upgrade to new ROM Artemis Touch 3.01 (without any errors by upgrade)

Now my Artemis seems to be OK.
I ran USPL with storage card inside the device...
no problem
switch SD card back to 2GB or smaller before USPL

for me USPL did not work with my SDHC 8GB card but then I switched back to my previous 2GB SD card and then it works.
Perhaps the SDHC driver blocks USPL in some way.

i have been trying for 3 months
once i have upgraded my artemis to wm 6.0 everything seemed to be OK for two days... then the screen started to go black when i restart... şi downgraded to 5.0 but nothing changed... when i remove battery for a while, my arte works... when i try to do anything with it, the screen slowly goes black as if it is broken... please DO HELP ME! i am going to go mad... i have a new iphone, ihave i kaiser as well... but i miss my artemis very much...

The issue that happens to me is that I used USPL for upgrading to WM6 and worked, but now for the Touchflo it does not. Tried with all USB ports, tried with different computers and no good news.
The USPL msdos screen indicates that there is no connection at all in all percentage levels, then it bocomes dark and the 260 error whne installing the rom.

The only way to solve it is to remove the batterie during 30 min., then put it back and pray...
Then, for no reason, the screen shut down, a few minutes or days after
I've upgrade from WM5 to WM6 with the original Rom of HTC, it seems a little more stable but it shut down every 2 days when i'm lucky

Try to bootup without the SD card (and may be SIM), I had this problem with my Vox, the SD Card was corrupted. After formatting the SD Card, everythig became normal.

After this, it gets stuck on the windows mobile 6.1 boot screen

assuming ur phone is just dead ie just blank screen do this
1.power off the phone remove batter and press the power button 3 secs
2.put batter back in to the phone
3.Press camera button and then power on at the same time u will get tricolor
used usb and Flash new ROM
or press camera button and do soft reset using stylus this will also give u the tricolor use USB and flash new ROM

Then it shows the windows animations and then it hangs.
This has happned to me twice.
I had installed following applications after the ROM upgrade. Does any application creating a problem
1) HTC Home (6 tab plugin)
2) S2U2,S2P,S2V
3) Quick Menu
4) Opera Mini
5) TCPMP with many codecs

I had tried that also but not able to recover I had to burn the ROM again .
I am scared now to soft reset my gene. Never know when it will get hanged again. (pls note that it does not hang on every soft reset).
I liked the new ROM (6.1 pro Sumeet) so much. It is fast and have left enough room to add/execute other applications. I have read so many good comments about the ROM. I do not want to change it to any other version.
Please.. please try to get some solution.

I went to a store this evening in order to unlock my Polaris. The owner of the store has got a HTC herald with a problem that he wanted me to solve.
He tried to install another rom on his herald but, due to an unsuccessfull rom upgrading, the HTC is locked on a RGB screen (red green blue) with the only following indications:
RUU
IPL 1.08.0001
SPL 1.08.0001
USB (or nothing when not plugged)
Would you mind helping me? I tried several Roms, and there was only one that seemed to work (ROM HERALD_ smiley sWWE.gif _6.1.405.13_BUILD 20764.1.4.3): It gave me a progress bar on the HTC frozen at 0% while the upgrading tool on the pc told me that I needed a more recent upgrading tool.
What can I do?

(sorry for my bad english, I'm only a 15 years old french guy, wich explains that way of speaking english)
Before installing cooked ROMs I believe the phone must be HardSPL'ed, and this can only be done if the SPL/IPL is 4 or above - any lower/not HardSPL'ed and the device will be bricked. The screen you are describing is the bootloader, and since you only have an IPL/SPL of 1.x I'm pretty sure you can't install custom ROMs. To unbrick the device, turn it onto the bootloader and then load the original HTC ROM that came with the device.

I tried several times to enter in bootloader, but it's impossible as it starts with the bootloader menu! I can't change anything about that, even by soft resets, reset+camera, reset+buttons...

As I am stucked with 1.08.0001 SPL, There is nothing to do. All the users who tried to unbrick their phone didn't got it working, except one who changed the motherboard for... 200$ ! The price of a used HTC Herald in very good conditions!

sorry to say sir but your ipl and spl should have been 4.0 or higher and also HardSPL'ed. i'm pretty sure your device is bricked. GL on finding a way to fix it or buying a new one. =D
Nounou7701, though you cannot flash a cooked ROM with IPL/SPL 1.x you can definitely flash the official ROM from HTC.

He didn't head the warning of the SPL requirements. You can easily revive it using the GoldCard method. (Search for the term "goldcard herald".)
HTC P4350 do not switch on after a bad SPL
I've tried to flash my Hera 100 P4350 with HardSPL Herald, but I got an error message it has switched off and I can't get my mobile switched on again.
It looks like completly dead (kaput).
Can anyone help me ? Or explain why that happened ?

SPL 1.08.0001 screen but with no USB on the lower left corner of the screen
After arrived here what shoul I do to reinstall my P4350 ?

By Hung up do you mean it goes into the bootloader screen (tri-colour)
First things first
Did you perform a HardSPl if not you need to do this first. Do a search for it, but make sure you get the correct one. By this I mean a G3 or G4, when you go into the bootloader screen look at the SPL if it ends in .000 it is a G3 if it ends in .0001 it's a G4.
This is just the same as flashing a Rom.
Then check this page and download the Qtek NVID Rom flash that and it should get your beloved prophet back to WM5

BUT before you do any flashing open up your activesync click on FILE then CONNECTION SETTINGS uncheck ALLOW USB CONNECTIONS then OK.
Then connect your phone via the USB in bootloader mode (press and hold the communication button and press the reset button keep holding the communication button until you get the tri colour screen) look at the bottom left of the screen for USB (in the white part) as long as you have got this you can begin flashing.

I have found that Bikertibi roms seem to be the best (only my opinion and no disrespect to the other fantasic chefs, long may thier excellent work continue ).
They also include the HardSPL for both G3 and G4 devices.
Another good one is Gullum's Prophet TouchXB if I recall this also includes the HardSPL, but please check as I am not 100% certain.

I also facing d similar problem like bro malfakhry. After flashing back to Qtek NVID Rom WM5 it go hang....and it show

May I know my device is G3 or G4?
How myself gonna to solve this hang issue?

Hi All
If your device was a G3 the SPL can only end in .000
As your devices end in .0000 it is a G4
When you flashed the NVID rom this means there is no vender identification and will reset your SPL back to 0 all you do is count the noughts as it can only be 3 or 4 this then gives you the G rating.
If your phone hangs after this flash then try a hard reset first if it still hangs just go through the whole proccess again from the start remembering the hardSPL and when done perform a hard reset.
