Android on a xv6800 - Mogul, XV6800 General

Has anyone done this. As far as I am concerned Windows mobile 6.0,6.1,even 6.5 has horriable memory leaks. Atleast the last version of Ryan's release 2.2 was great. Haven't tried 3.0 yet. Just wondering if anyone has installed android 1.6 on a xv6800 and if so where to get it at.

nope sorry but rm 3.0 is great....though i cant get my weather to work the way I want too

Does this mean that Android is working or not?

Ya im concerned with this too would be neat to run android on my 6800

I haven't tried this on a Titan recently, but I remember running Andoird on my Titan when I had it awhile back. Here's the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341903&page=48
more at http://www.androidonhtc.com
Hope it works out for you guys!

I think the best Android I've been able to run on Sprint Mogul has been both Android 1.5 & 1.6...those builds actually runs decent...I've actually used Android about 90% of the time now rather than WinMo.
obviously 1.6 is running a bit faster....
This weekend I started playing around with getting Android SenseHero 1.4 running...while it boots from time to time......I'm getting a slow response and lockups here and there.
Curious what version of Android is everyone running on the Mogul/Titan???

Could you post more info on how u got android on the mogul?

Moved as not ROM Development.

Android on HTC HD2 (Leo)

Just wondering if anyone tried or have an idea about Android OS running on HTC HD2?
Nope, and from what I know it can't be done without some serious work (and by serious work, I mean by the time it's actual stable the HD2 will be an old piece of crap).
Look around the forums for running Android on other WinMo devices via Haret.exe. I doubt there are builds uild for anfor the HD, so if possible find a build for another WVGA phone. Non of the hardware will work, but it's just for testing really.
People have made it work on the HD, so why not also on HD2.
I'm sure it's not a walk in the park, but i'm sure it's possible.
Anyone working on it already?!..
Might even be easier to port over the Android 2.1 when the DESIRE is released. Similar hardware if I understand correctly.... would be awesome to try out..
I want that phone so freaking bad, but I just don't think I can do WM... someone please figure it out.
Running Android applications on HD2
I have no issues with Windows Mobile. However I do wish I could run some of the many Android programs on my Windows Mobile HD2. Any way it could be done?
They've just now been able to get a stable build running on the Touch Pro. And even then it sucks down the battery life like a beast feeding on a herd of sheep. Sure it will probably happen but don't expect stability for awhile and don't ever expect a decent battery life.

Should i buy the HD2

hello folks,
iam from germany so it'll be a long time before i get my hands on the evo or the droid x.
so today i read on engadget that android froyo and 2.1 are running stable on the hd2. what about the battery time, is it still an issue? is the android market working?
are there any benchmarks?
I am quit a "poweruser" so are these builds advanced enough for every day use?
thanks

If you want android, get a native android phone. It will be a very long time before it runs as well on the hd2, if ever. There are still several functions not working and it's not nearly as stable as an android phone. It's running stable for a port this early in it's development, but it's still a work in progress. If you want a working android for everyday use now, you will want an android phone.
its not quite there but its getting there if you want android though just get the nexus but i would rather have the big screen and awesome hardware and wait for android because it will get there maybe a month or so
No, I don't believe android will ever be stable on a non-native device. Even on devices that have been developing android to work on them for years have not reached a point of "stability." When they say it's running stable, they mean the OS, not the phone functions. Just get a droid phone if you want droid.

Buy the hp for what it is, I bought this phone knowing that it's what it is.
I would buy an Android with 5mp and above, with dual led light, 4.3" screen(this is addictive!), thin design, qwerty keyboard, hdmi out, above 512mb ram, Above 1g processor and lots more beyond mentioning.
But I bought a HD2. Smiles for now.
I'm optimistic about android on the Hd2. I think many people on here will run it as their main OS before the year is over. Since when are factory shipped operating systems so infallible? The shipped WM roms stink compared to the custom roms. In the end its is pointless to speculate on what may or may not happen. My recommendation is to buy the HD2 because it is the best WM phone ever with an exciting android port to play with.

But he's not looking for the best winmo phone with an android port to play with.... he states he's an android "power user" that needs a very stable version of android with everything working. I'm amazed at how quickly they have got android working on the HD2 and how functional and stable they've got it... but it will be a longtime before it's as stable and functional as a native android phone and has the same battery life as an android phone (android ports are all notorious for having terrible battery lifes... power management is one the last things that get's completely working and stable). I've been playing with android ports for other winmo devices since the kaiser.... not one is completely functional or as stable as a native android phone. If your goal is to use android full-time, there's no point in buying a winmo device hoping it will run android stabily one day... get an android phone. Personally, I love both winmo and android, so I love having a powerful winmo device with an android port in development... it's exciting watching and playing with it as it progresses. But if you don't like winmo, the HD2 is not for you.

[Q] WinMo on Android device.

hello.
i was wondering, since i'm going to get an htc Tattoo these days, and i saw some clips on YouTube: hd2 running android, hd mini running android, etc. is it posible to put WM on some android powered device...??
i know, iknow, android i so much better than the WM, but i would like to see WM running on, soon to be mine, HTC Tattoo...
Doubt it since the file system for Android is based of Linux.
then y not just buy a WM phone? y buy an android to have windows mobile?
i know where hes coming from i got hd2 and it runs android fine but i still want to keep WinMo but i want to run WinMo as a 2nd OS
WM!!!
That´s the wonder of WM
It is wonderful to be able to switch between OS!!
If in some moment I just thought about moving to Android with this dual boot I´m staying in WM all the way!!

thanks for understanding, that's just what i want... but it seems it can't be done... damn.
so, how's Android running on your HD2?? is it laggy or smtn? is it running properly, like on any other android device...?

It is actually pretty good and stable. Battery, without very heavy usage, can last you about a day (and I am sure that there are things that can be done to make it last longer). The other device(s) that run Android smoothly are the Vogue, the Kaiser, and the Polaris. Everything works, great battery life, and best of all... very cheap devices (you can get a Vogue for ~$80 on Market Place or eBay)
Now If only I didn't break my Kaiser by standing on it I would have installed android.

it might be wonderful...but not with WM...definitely
and about the wonder of WM...the only wonder is that it can mysteriously and magically crash or get stuck and cause trouble and pain in the ass to the user hehe.
sorry orb but this is getting personal...you and me....we have to argue about this all the way hehe
cheers mate
@fino1: you won't miss anything without WM...trust me..i've been using it since wm 2002 and the android was a relief....although WM is far better, superior and more versatile than java os (mostly used os for mobile telephones) or symbian ,IMO
WM is pure function ...no user experience....in fact user experience is terrible and far outdated, and experience is what does or does not frustrate you
android is more about experience right now,but function isn't far behind,it is slowly catching outdated WM and getting some lead in that race...
first ive heard of this haha
Well.. tbh I second this request.. I believe in porting mutliple OS to 1 Device it just gains more functionality.. I believe it would be quite comfortable to use e.g. Android for browsing & websurfing.. and on the other hand use some neat WinMo Apps for dunno.. maybe some office work or something like that..?

[Q] problems with dual boot WM & Android 2.2 Froyo

hi Guys,
I have installed Android 2.2 froyo and had dual boot so that i can use both WM and Android but i had issues with wifi and issues with incoming & receiving calls.
have you guys running android smoothly on ur LEO?
I personally like android very much than WM but dint want to mess up so reinstalled WM.
guys any suggestion which android version runs smoothly on LEO or is it better to wait for an updated version?
The darkstone builds seem to be the most stable for me. There is a desier sp? Build that was updated I belive 9/29 that has htc sence. And also a hd2 froyo build that's older I belive last up dated 8/18 I think. But its stock android 2.2, and the build I'm using now and have been for probly close to a month and its rock solid. Compass is wacky which sucks for apps like layer that need it. And I belive blue tooth may be wacky as well but I haven't tested it myself. But go darkstone and if your using the stock tmobile win mo roll back to the 2.10 build, the new 2.12 build will give you a crazy robot voice on phone calls. Good luck do lots of reading any posible problem you could have run into has been discused on here some where so just look around

What OS are you using as your daily driver?

Hi,
I was just curious about which OS is used the most, and which OS is used the least. Please submit your vote, so we can get an as accurate as possible picture. By Daily driver I mean which OS you're using right now to text, call and just use for your daily life.
A short list of the options and their definitions:
Stock Windows Mobile 6.5.x - You're using the stock rom that came with the device, or an official update.
Custom Windows Mobile 6.5.x - You've flashed a custom rom like Energy rom. Chances are you're changing the rom on a regular basis.
Android SD/RAM - You're running Android old school from your SD card, or you're using a RAM build.
Android NAND - You're using the latest and greatest NAND (Internal memory) build(s) out there!
Windows Phone 7 - You're loyal to Microsoft and decided to flash Redmond's latest and greatest.
Ubuntu - You decided a mobile OS just wasn't good enough, and you gave your HD2 a full desktop/netbook experience! Unlikely you're using this on a daily basis though
MeeGo - You're using MeeGo. I'm not sure if it's possible, as it hasn't been released yet, but it's worth a shot.
- If you're dualbooting, just choose the main one.
I'm curious what the results might be. I'm currently using Windows Phone 7 for texting, calling, some gaming and just for the general experience. I've also partitioned half of my SD card for Darkstone SuperRAM, just for Angry Birds and Scooter Hero. I think most people are using a Android NAND build by now though.
Android SD/RAM - Utterly smooth, I haven't changed builds for five weeks because I have no problems with this. First time my phone has been flawless in the 24 months I've had it (I'm including the Blackstone days! ).
I am very keen to go NAND. I'm just waiting until the ROMs have had a month under their belt so they are watertight. I would normally be flashing like mad, but I'm just too happy with my phone for now.
Not too interested in WP7. If it was as easy as switching memory cards, I'd probably give it a week's fair chance. But I think Android's got my heart!
ROM: Evo's Black&Blue remix
PAST Windows Phone 7 - Was using it but after 2 days I decided to change back to Winmo becouse it had too much limitations to my country and I didn't want to use an other Windows Live profile, but it is a great development. When it is better and available in my county I'm definitely going to use it. I have an key already . Try the chat-support if you're afraid to call
STOCK Windows Mobile 6.5 - Back to stock, it is OK but not perfect. See my Windows Phone 7 story why Windows Mobile. Why the stock version? I want to keep my warranty and Android SD builds are good enough for me.
Android SD/RAM - You don't need NAND when you use RAM builds. It's very fast. Android is good and I like it, when i'm going to put Windows Phone 7 next time on my phone I definitely putting Android on SD as well on my phone. The best combination ever.
Sorry for poor english
Looks like it's between android NAND and WP7 now
I used WP7 but am going back to Android right now... WP7 needs more work from Redmond before I might give it another chance.
Been off-line a couple of months.. Carnt believe all the new developments..
Iv just been running the Core Series ever since i got my Leo.
Sergio76 from the Core Cell Team has been working hard on their first CoreDroid HD NAND version. All i can say is your all in for a big surprise!!
Check my sig if you not familiar with Sergio76's work.
I used winmo stock for the first 3 weeks i had my Leo. Just while i got my head around the differences from my diamond. Then flashed an Energy 6.5.x build and not looked back (that was almost a year ago). I've used a couple of android SD builds and i came to the conclusion that it wasn't for me. It feels like an open source iphone for teenagers. Hell, i've used my sisters desire with the stock rom and the feel of the whole phone was lacking compared to my HD2.
This poll is a good idea there is just one problem with it. Android users are very vocal about their love of the operating system. Winmo users tend to be much less so. I think this has a lot to do with the user bases age range (ie alot older than most android users). I also think it has something to do with the original demographic Windows CE was aimed at - IT professionals. Winmo has grown from this and taken people like me with it. I find the integration and compatibility with the windows based networks i run to be the best feature of windows mobile and i'm yet to achieve that using android (and not for want of trying either).
I will try out WP7 but i'm waiting for the february update first. Copy/paste is a must for me.
using android nand atm. so far its awesome! battery life is great, runs really smooth and its pweety :3
i havent tested wp7 yet, although i really want to. Maybe when i have the time next week...
I'm still using nandroid at the moment although already bought a new sdcard to use for WP7. The reason I haven't moved to wp7 yet because I'm so questioning why there is no support from Cotulla, DFT and other Developers (they've disappeared since wp7 on hd2 issued) !!! Probably they're working hard for a better WP7 version, or they can't reach any more progress for WP7 on HD2, or some other reasons. Who knows???
BTW, my nandroid from RaiderX303 is really good now, so I'll wait to see what will happen to wp7 so that i can decide move to wp7 or not!
You guys just try out webbrowsing on wp7
I tried WP7 on my HD2 but could not get past the Live Services verification step. I've given up for now but I absolutely loved the interface and the web browsing. It made me seriously think about getting an HD7 as my next phone until I realised nothing is as open and moddable as Android. I've switched back to Android 2.3 on NAND.
Edit: Finally SUCCESS!!! I got the verification. Going to try WP7 for a while. A seriosuly annoying thing is that some apps that are free on Android Market are charged on WP7 Marketplace.
Last 2 days, I've used WP7 inc. live services and Android on SD Duel Boot. The best thing about WP7 is the smoothness of the OS although the multitouch sucks compared to Android.
I'm most likely gonna go back to Nandroid and use SD to test other Android builds.
So basically a duel boot android/android.
WP7 for me, well at least for the last four days...here is why
GPS...Instant no waiting at all for a fix, using Endomondo for running, the route is spot on, best i have ever seen on any of my other phones, or even this HD2 running WM to Android.
SOUND...the sound quality, through headphones on WP7 is second none, why on eaarth its so much better than Android I really don't know and the ZUNE player and online stuff is simply fantastic
OFFICE...miles better than WM office, Android office apps just don't cut it
GAMES...try Harvest wow can't believe my HD2 is actually running this. loads more to try, also loving AlphaJAX bit like scrabble and wordsmith on Android only slicker.
INTERFACE...slick super fast, makes Android and WM on the HD2 seem antiquated
SOCIAL...the people update is simply perfect, facebook and twitter apps never look so good, loving the swiping about
KEYBOARD...never used such a easy to use keyboard, not sure why its so much better, I can type faster then on swipe, weird
Camera and Video... well this is hands down miles better than anything else for the HD2, did some filming at the weekend and the clarity is amazing
CALENDAR...quick easy and perfect for me to add and adjust my busy schedule
PHONE and SMS...sound quality and signal just work
Ok there are few teething problems but hopefully between XDA and Microsoft these will improve, ie...cut/paste, flash would be nice, but uses to much of my 3g allowance, Multitasking not that it needs it, it runs so fast, but perhaps being able to run my online radio with the brilliant rescoradio and do other things would be nice, otherwise you can have music running all the time and do other things, lets see what happens...
BTW you should cross MeeGo, 'cause it's not been released yet, not even a beta.
I'm using an Activated WP7
Lately I've been running MDJ Gingerbread CM7 flashed from recovery. I like being able to quickly create a clockworkmod backup, swap sd card, then flash WP7 or ubuntu just to mess around with. Afterward I can just flash back clockworkmod, stick my other sd card back in, restore and go right back to gingerbread.
Looking at the poll results thusfar, it seems that the HD2 has to be called an android phone xD
well, my hd2 runs on custom wm. have been jumping between energy and dutty rom. I must say both are equally good and rock stable. But i decided to stay with dutty because his comes with chinese input. tried andriod SD but it's eating battery as if it's free! so decided to stay with wm.
@OP
You forgot to include on the poll Windows 98 and 95 both running on Leo too

Actually, knowingly didn't add them as they don't support phone functions so they can't be used as a daily driver.
Guys using Stock Windows Mobile 6.5.x on device like HD2 don't deserve to be on XDA
