i am really tired having only...2-3 themes available for amon ra's 1.6, so i have been wanting to learn how to port themes. only problem is, i havent found a thread on how to do it for magic/mytouches, just dreams/g1's. so if anyone wants to point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated!
if i learn, i will proll port alot of the dream themes over here, or at least try to lol. i know absolutley NOTHING about java/linux haha. i dont even know how to push things via adb, so i got alot of **** to read up on.
anyways, any help is appreciated! please email at [email protected], because i will be able to respond faster via email than xda, cause i gotta go to school (being a highschool senior sucks ballssss)

anyone please help me im out im actually willing to pay someone for some help here......ill give 10$ paypal if someone will take their time out to help me
best way to start is by reading and playing. lost of people come here every day and say 'where do i start' without reading first. No one is being rude if you dont get an answer, but theyd be answering the same question every day.
Heres a good place to start

Play with your device, and once you have a feel for it, you can ask more specific questions.
i have read many diff articles but to be honest ive never done much with editing of phones and dont want to do something to mess it up...im jus looking for someone to speak to for a bit and jus ask a few questions and some feedback on some apps and such....again anyone whos willing to help me i will give a donation to
Hehe, None of the tweaks and tips will damage your device, the worst that can happen is you have to hard reset (factory default).
(well, unless you start flashing roms, but you shouldnt go anywhere near that until you are confortable with the device.)
I'll cross my fingers for you that someone has time to chat direct to you.
I am wanting to learn to make roms and do some theming i have had a few android devices well 4 so far and have always done the rooting and custom roms and kernels and have always wanted to learn to make them for myself for me to use with everything exactly the way i want them. if anyone would have the time to help a little please let me know payment can be worked out. If anything i ask or said is not allowed then im sorry never really ask much on forums before.
I saw a little guide to setting up a dev environment over in the Mez forum posted by Phidelt82. Here is the link. Hope it helps.
Cheers

^ That is probably the best idea as it gives live support/feedback. I'd say that it's best to do at least a little research and have an idea of what you want to do beforehand though. If you just say "teach me how to do xyz" your response won't be as good as "I am trying to do xyz and this is where I'm having a problem". The more you help yourself beforehand, the more help you will likely receive.
Yea, the IRC is an amazing place to ask questions. I've taken the step to building kernels now myself and have been asking plenty of questions. I now have 2 UV kernels out myself. Same goes for themes and roms. Someone will help, just be patient though, cause, usually everyone is busy during the day.
I was wondering if anyone else who is computer illiterate like me is very interested in learning how to create kernels, roms, themes... and anything else under the sun that deals with android software.
Anyone else interested in becoming a dev like those helping us out with froyo and whatnot?
I'm on Google now... I guess I'm looking for help on where to start. Like from square one... any nice guides you brainiacs could show us noobs?
I wouldn't mind teaching myself from the ground up just by reading internet guides - I enjoy both reading and learning.... I could see myself developing stuff for our community as a fun hobby.
If you would like to help me, think of me as an old man who's never owned a cell phone or a computer till now. That's how far back I'd need to go to learn, I have no experience in computer programming at all.
Since I got my fascinate and stumbled across xda, I've just been, well... fascinated with android and the mechanics behind it all. And the great devs that make this possible for our nice little community here!
So... you other noobs and pros out there wanna help each other out by sharing guides and experiences?

First, the reason I posted here is because this forum is where my android love started. I have used most of the dev's work in here on my vibrant and continue to. There are a lot of very talented dev's here.
I am looking to start doing some work on my sgs 4g. we don't really have much for Dev's over there right now. So, I would like to try and help out and start with some work on a stock dump. I am new to this whole process.
I would like to start by adding an accurate battery to the ROM. I also hope to maybe get into some light kernel, and theme work.
What would be great is if someone here could maybe help me out, I am no idiot, and learn fast. So if anyone one of you dev's out there could lend a hand to someone ready to learn please PM me.
Any advise Or help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
hi all,
it might be noobish to ask, but im fairly good with c and c++, know a few things about java(did a course a few years back) and am currently studying c#, I'm interested in knowing how to build your rom from scratch.
I dont expect anyone to hand-feed me stuff, but i would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction or refer some guides which i can go through
i'd really like to help with the andriod scene since i do have a blackstone and i'd love to help out
cheers
p.s -> sorry if this has been posted in the wrong section...
@Mods Can someone move this to a more general section please? I would like to get some info on this too...
