Updating XDA Orbit

Hey Guys!! I hope, you can help me...
I want to install a other ROM on my Orbit. But it allways brake up at 3%. So, i thought, maybe it would help to install the original ROM. Ok, now i've got the oooooold original WM6. wow...
I want to install a version of 6.5, but everytime it stops at 3% with the notice, that my ruu is corrupted (Error [270]).
So i tried to flash via SD-Card. Renamed the ROM from RUU_Signed.nbh to ARTEIMG.nbh but sometimes the orbit means, that the ROM isnt certificated but mostly the Orbit cant find anything.
So, please help me

I used to have a similar problem every time I tried with WM 6.1 till yesteray.
The solution I found was,
Use USPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403&page=69)
Before you start USPL, be sure to remove SD card and SIM card from your phone and follow the procedure as in PDF there
Then flash whatever ROM you want to.

Can not install offical 6.5 from HTC

Hi
I just bought a used Diamond 2 and wanted to update it to 6.5.
But when i try it stops for at 9% and then looses connection with the PC but recovers and continues to 18% then it stops and the RUU wants to recover the installation, that resulted in the same error.
Luckely I tried the offical 6.1 installation, and that installd OK so my phone is OK.
But why can´t I install 6.5?
I checked with the guy i bought it from, and he said it has been flashed before with a dutty or tom´s rom.
Can this be why it wont load?
I check the bootloader screen (thanks to Drag-On guide) and i says SPL-1.33. OliNex MicroP-Topaz (LED) v10
Do I need 1.83 to install offical 6.5?
I am using swedish rom since I am swedish.
Can anyone help me?

Try hard spl 1.83, then try re-flashing your 6.5
If it still won't flash, try a different rom. Download a cooked rom, Tess 4.0 for instance, and see if you can flash it. If you can, there is probably an error with the original rom. Tess is close to stock anyway, but faster and better

yeah try hard spl 1.83 1st and then u'll be able to flash wm 6.5.
that's the only wayt to do it, otherwise it'll remain stuck at 18% everytime u try to flash the new rom

This is my first post in this forum. Just got my HD2 yesterday & immediately set about installing a new ROM. I installed HSPL without any issues, but I'm having problems installing a new ROM. I've downloaded a couple in .exe format, synced up the phone to WMDC in Win 7, then when I start the exe file everythings fine until it starts to install, then the 4 colurs come on to the phone, and then the USB connection drops so WMDC isn't connected, then I get the error 266 (or 226). I used to have a touch diamond that did this, but I can't remember how you get the connection to remain whilst uploading the new ROM. I've had a look through the forum, but can't find the answer. Can anyone give me some ideas?? Does the phone need to have certain settings applied to it before flashing?? I'm not exactly a noob to flashing ROM's, but can't work this one out!! Thanks all.

just extract the exe, rename *.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh, put in ur microSD root, enter bootloader, press power button when u asked to do so. soft-reset when complete. feel free to pm me n i will guide u.

SD card method is the quickest way to brick your phone...
I use W7 64bit with WMDC and have never had an issue. Custom ROMs comes as an NBH file and tend to have CustomRRU.exe with them to run them. Run the EXE as an admin and you shouldn't have any issues.
Obviously check that when in the bootloader it does say SPL is 1.42.HSPL
When I flash a ROM, it turns the phone off (Windows knows that as it makes a sound) and then when the bootloader comes back up it says USB, Windows makes a sound for plug in and it starts.

Hi, I'm using the same OS. I've tried running as admin but it still drops connection. The SPL is 1.42.HSPL. It just starts the update, then I see the phone disappear from the connected devices, then WMDC shuts down & a few seconds later the error message comes up??

you started flashing this fast only after one day of use

You don't need WMDC open - just close it once it says you're connected
The run the file and it should work.
As mentioned, why are you flashing it out the box? It's always best to get to know the device as it might just work as it is...perhaps try a stock ROM if you're not already using the newest one and go from there

I agree. not that there is anything technically unsafe about it, but unless you are fully aware what you are doing it's so easy to flash the wrong thing.
example,you flash a 1.66 stock rom from sd card but don't like it.you goo to change it but get a fail. why? because flashing stock from sd card also overwrites the spl.
no problem you say, I'll reinstall hspl.... only you can't because hspl needs spl 1.4 to instal and your 1.66 flash installed spl 1.6
worse still you instal one of the test roms from t mo us that are 2.0x which can't be downgraded even by gold card and you are stuck with spl2 until the geniuses that are the hspl team release hspl2.
just a thought...are you running as administrator? right click, run as administrator

Didn't know that, glad I have HSPL on my phone now!! lol

lots don't and that's what makes sd flashing dodgy. in the case of 1.6 it can be downgraded with a 1.4 spl stock rom.its just a pain. but 2.0 spl can't. check out the horror stories in my sig.​

Yeah read about them, I nearly bricked my phone using the SD card method the first time I flashed but luckily the WMDC flash with my stock ROM got me back to normal!

I was trying to flash the stock 1.66 ROM, but it still disconnected. I have 1.43.206.4 WWE at the moment. The reason for flashing straight away, is usually the stock ROM updates are to improve / fix previous issues. This is why I wanted to start with a stock ROM & maybe move onto a cooked ROM at a later date. Does it make any difference when starting from an .exe file instead of RUU? Do you have to change something on the phone itself to allow it to stay connected?? cheers everyone for your comments.

Just tried it again & still no joy. It starts, the phones switches off, thats when it loses connection, then the bootloader appears, then about 10 secounds later it says error 266 connection lost. Still stumped???

Sounds like the device isn't reconnecting with the PC once in the bootloader - try another one...

with the phone in boot loader unplug the usb and plug back into a different port. preferably a port directly on the motherboard (round the back) not through a usb hub or slot in the case.

Sussed it now. I'm a mac user using Win7 using VMware fusion. I think it was this that was causing it to not detect the phone once it had started flashing the ROM. I tried it on my work laptop running XP & voila, it flashed immediately. Thanks everyone for your comments - no doubt I'll be posting a few more questions soon!!!

Ahhh... yes, that's the kind of non-standard setup that would make sense mentioning right away indeed. Everything that touches hardware level is rarely friendly to emulation, virtual machines, resource sharing and so on...

Ok.....next question. I've tried to flash a rom using the customruu file, but all it does is open up the contents of that file. I'm using XP Pro. Any ideas why anyone???

Bricked HD2 Leo

Hi every one. I had a problems with HD2, my original ROM was with a lot of problems, it restarted without no reason and so on. My colleage suugested to flash with another ROM, so I tride to flash a new ROM, did a Hardspl2 and now my HD is bricked, with triangle and no ROM also shiped (donwloaded from HTC web page by serial) is not working. Anybody help me? I tried lot of ROMs and no luck at least .... Triad also flash with original ROM via Micro SD no luck... Please help me!!!! URGENT!

Firstly its "ROM" not "room".
What do you mean "with triangle" ??
Which HD2 do you have and which ROM did you try flashing?
Can you get into tri-color bootloader mode?

Sorry i post my thread quickly. Yes i tried to flash a ROM, i have HD2 512MB. I tried to flash a 3.14.405 rom. triangle - i can get in tri-color bootloader mode, but when i try also flash original rom there is no result, it crashes on 9 or 17%. Triangle is a sign when i switch on a device, i believe it means ther eis no windows/rom on device

your device is not bricked... get into bootloader and do a task 29 (LOOK IT UP)...
Then start from scratch... Magldr, then whatever ROM you want.

Possible fix stuck bricked hd2 radio no rsa information
Please read the whole post first sorry about the mess it is my first post thanks to everyone here on xda who came up with everything i used to do this There is guides for this xda has a lovely list of tmous roms if you are on t mobile in the us http://www.xdafil.es/index.php?path=HD2/TMOUS/
i would start with the RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.02.531.MASD_S__Radio_Signed_15.29.50.07U_2.06.50.04_TeleNav-5.5.42.zip
extract the .exe file if it has one than extract the RUU_signed.nbh from the .exe file using win war or 7 zip than rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and place it on a newly formatted microsd not a microsdhc and i had problems with anything over class 4
place it in your phone and hold the volume down button and power button as loading comes up let off volume down power button will start the flash(i was only able to do complete flashes in the freezer if not it would hang or get radio errors)
i also had a tmous which did not want to flash the radio i would get an an error and rsa fail it sounds crazy but i wrapped it in plastic and stuck it in the freezer for a while before and during the flash this was the only way i could install the radio and actually see rgd information on boot screen after this first one you will have an old test rom with an old spl you cannot change to hspl from here i also was not able to go straight to 2.10, i had to step up from RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.03.531.6_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.50.23_3_Test.zip, to RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.03.531.6_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.50.23_3_Test.zip the same way i did the first one,hard resetting after each one and let it open windows completely to know it is working. than i believe there is an hspl3 file somewhere out there with all thanks to DarkForces Team HardSPL3 by bepe and Cotulla i will try to attach it that will work with spl 2.02 wich you should now be on now you can download your radio in the master radio thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
i also just renamed the ruu_signed.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh and ran through sd i seem to have problems through usb and i was trying to be careful with the radio
once you got the radio you want you could flash the rom preferably running task 29 before or get yourself magldr to install through nand i also stuck my laptop an the freezer with the phone to get wp7 completely installed i did all this mess with a phone that had a broken screen i think there is like thermal compound over the processor to the case that is not on right and overheats when not in the operating system like a crappy old laptop with its fans full of stuff trying to install xp. and while a stock rom was being installed the usb was pulled during the radio installation i hope this helps i belive i saw one post to stick it in the freezer out of everything that i think helped the most.i also notice i have to put it in the freezer at boot too sometimes or i will get a fatal hit error i think its just over heating..... i also have an hd2 which has never been opened before that i have never had to stick in the freezer it gets flashed quite abit right now running gingerbread on normal hd2 and wp7 dual boot android 2.2 on the one i had to freeze i hope this helps i was here for weeks reading reading i was stumped cus my first hd2 and g1 were so eazy i will update this post once i stop being lazy and open the phone again to replace the goop to see if that is the problem

succesfull only one time, now i tried reflash an original rom once again and no results, still stucked in triangle. It's a first time when something like this happens

no luck at all I tried it once and have succesfull rom update, but it stucks when started with HTC logo, i tried second time and still no luck. Please help me.. all the time now also for original rom it says that this room is not for that device

you have to find the original rom shipped with your phone like here i am tmobile usa roms you have to find your carrier and country and start with one of the first ones i started with my second one RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.02.531.MASD_S__Radio_Signed_15.29.50.07U_2.06.50.04_TeleNav-5.5.42.zip and i kept getting stuck screens when it was hot turn it off maby find some silica gel (lil rocks that come with everything to absorb water) wrap it in plastic and throw it in the freezer does the back of the phone get real hot during flash

i have shipped original rom, still no luck

you need one of the first test roms this was the only way i got mine to work i had to go from 2.02 to 2.03 to 2.05 hard resetting after each install making sure they completely went in what carrier are you and where are you

Run the program;
a) select 2.08.000 (not HSPL) and you can flash stock (HTC) ROM with no damage or aftermarket changes on your phone.
b) select 2.08.HSPL and you can flash whatever you want
Install MAGLDR 1.13
Flash ROM
Make sure you follow the instructions EXACTLY. You can find these all over XDA, look at all of my posts if you need to.

Ok, now i dont understand anything. My original SPL was 1.42, i did Hardspl 3, after that tried flash original rom, process stuck on 96%, after that i tried once again stuck on 9% and says rom not compatible with device. And its like a hidden circle, my phone is acting like that all the time. I tried task29, tried all HSPL, also 1.4200, 1.66 and so on. Can anybody help me? my skype nick is martins.prieditis , maybe someone can assist me?

Ok now its fixed. I did a HSPL4, due to which original rom freeze on 0%, but 3.14 didnt start up on loading OS (white screen with HTC logo))or freeze on 99%. Than went back to shipped 1.42, stock room succesfylly flashed and did a SSPL_RUU. Now the only problem is that my LEO restarts when it gets hot. Any ideas how to fix it?

Overheating??
As mrpoe stated in post 9, One of his phone had to be put in the freezer to be able to flash anything otherwise it will get hot and freeze.
Also the motherboard is most likely broken and you cannot get it to work without freezing or it will keep rebooting...
The best thing to do if you still have warranty is to Keep stock SPL and stock WM6.5 and return for warranty.
It will not function the same again.

I'm not certain, if you are looking for a custom ROM or just Cookies Home Tab CHT , which mainly is the tool to do all the setup, you mentioned.

Im trying to install one of these roms but it can not be installed. i tryed from sd card too but it says loading...
and i cant install cht too and cookies because the clock and others become to big..

Can you describe the error a little more detailed? I was able to install nsourm's ROM without problems. Did you see the tri-colored screen already?

I tryed to install nsourm_rom_0409.nbh and all of them and cant be installed, i can install roms from shipped roms and those can be installed but this can not...it stuck at 0% and the rom from http://www.filefactory.com/ can not be downloaded Ive downloaded a old one .. couse this says: "All free download slots are in use. You can download this file immediately by upgrading to FileFactory Premium. Otherwise, please feel free to try again shortly. "

You gotta try multiple times, until you get a slot to download a newer version. I tried at least for half a day
The flashing itself worked, but I remember it took more than 10 minutes to finish.
Did I understood right, that you have flashed custom ROM's before?

I've downloaded the rom and when i try to install it gives me error 262 and it does not continues to be installed stays at 0% ..yes I'have flashed before... but i did not made a backup of that rom

Just to be sure i understood your problem: Did you used SSPL with a custom ROM and it didn't work ? What OS do you have on PC ?

yes that is right...im using windows 7 ultimate .It can not be upgradet stays at 0% and then gives an error :S

EROR 262 you can solve this way
- Make shure battery is over 50%
- Soft-reset the device - Don't Skip This Step !
- If is on your PC installed Software-Firewall, Deactivate it (temporery,just to be sure, Reactivate FW later)
- Use orignal USB Kable. (usb data link cable)
- Right click on the RUU.EXE and click on Run as Administrator

- make sure, you choose ActiveSync profile upon connecting the phone to PC
- ActiveSync should be set up completely and Sync connections with Win7 PC should be working without problems before starting with a new ROM
