Urgent Problem, Blue Angel Freezes

I upgraded my Blueangel to windows mobile 6 a couple of days ago, yesterday i was reset it. when it powered on i have the windows mobile 6 screen and nothings happens thereafter, it is not connection to activesync and i m not able to ROM Upgrade.
Please help me ASAP

read the wiki carefully
try a hard reset after and do the no+yes+yes ritual in the hard reset.. it should worked...

baybe it is because third party software you installed, it happened to me with the touchflo which replaced the touch.dll with another one for another device, also with HTC Plus today plugin

I had it after installing VBAR... you have to reset it and press the record and camera button, then clear the registry HIVE and press the mail button... it will be hard resetted but in wm6 you don't lose any data, just some settings and cabs...

Yeah, I got this problem too a few days ago.. annoying...
When I tried to back up my data using Sunnysoft backup manager, BA had to restart, and then it stuck in the WM6 page... ended up clearing the whole thing again using the no yes yes option...BA was able to start up on safe mode though... weird
I only had this problem once though....
Hmmm, interesting few people have this problems with different circumstances, however leading to the same problem...
is it really WM6 issue or is it 3rd party apps issue?

it just happened to me as well.... i had an almost fresh install of WM2006 (just downgraded, merged Extrom and upgraded again).
I installed some few cabs and eventhough it worked fine for a day, it then started to freeze while booting again and again....
i never had the problem before merging the rom though...

it happened to me also, after doing a soft reset using pbar. it ends up in the green screen with the microsoft logo without going any further. i've tried several soft resets after but it always ends up in that mode.
had to perform a hard reset and install my favorite apps again.

well maybe there are some incompatiblityes with those programs you mentioned, i have not use them my BA has the default apps (the posted cabs) Sprite Backup 6, Htc Home 1.5, Adobe Flash Lite and i have no problems at all

have you installed all cabs you posted (cabs & cabs2)?
in what order?
whats Sprite Backup?
and which one is the HTC Home 1.5? (i only see HTC Home6?!?)

Sprite backup is the best backup softweare IMO, yes all cabs (cabs and cabs2) Home6 is HTC Home 1.5

there are three HTC HOME6 cabs out there:
1) Helmi HomePlug_Comp.cab: found in Helmi_C's WM2006 archive FLASH.zip
2) Helmi_HtcHome6_WM5_comp_sdkcert.cab: found in Helmi_C's WM2006 archive AddOn.rar
3) HOME6: an archive with two folders (WM5 + WM6) and HTCHome.cab
are there any differences?
is one better than the others?
i never found an answer to these questions...

Use Home6 if you want to be able to modify the HTC Home tabs from 6 (default) to less than 6..... this is the only one working....
With Helmi_HTCHome6.. it also works, but cannot modify the tabs......
never tried the other one....

OK OK I had this problem and it solved it without losing data. First i tried to reset the device , like 30 times with no success. Even with a hard reset it didnt work. So you just Put ur device in the booloader mode and then soft reset it and voila. i dont know if it's really the correct solution but it worked for me for 3 times when i had that dumb WM6 screen. It's because of Battery status software ( 100% sure )

Can anyone tell us which third parties programs that cause the freezing or which are compatible whit WM6. To used or avoid them.

same problem here. I just installed the cabs from helmi (Thanks again!), the HTC Home (Helmi_HtcHome6_WM5_comp_sdkcert.cab), Acrobat reader and powerpoint (out of this cabs in the first message in the central BA6 Thread) and no additional software. I've re-installed it two times, but that doesn't help .
@ Xeon: Maybe a good work-around, I will give him a try,

OK im again facing the same problem it seems my solution didnt work. As far as it seems to, i had to soft/hard reset more than 20 times to solve it. i dont get it. when i reset it the problem is still bla bla bla.. but when u leave it stuck for 10 mins and then reset it , it will work. the point is that after all , u dont need to format/clear registry. All u need is to keep trying. WEIRD [email protected]#[email protected]$#$

I keep having the problem after installing a new cab with a soft reset. The only way to get out of the WM6 screen is to go into bootloader and a soft reset. Just like Xeon said. However, I don't think it is the battery issue because if I just do a normal soft reset, it starts up fine. The problem arrives only when a soft reset is required to finish an installation from cab.

Polaris hangs and restart

Does anybody knows this problem?
Since the last few days my polaris restart among a call or if I recieve a SMS the screen goes on and stay on and nothing works no buttons and no touch works.

have you installed any new cabs over the top of bepe's rom that may affect phone? have you tried backing up your contacts etc then do a hard reset on the polaris?

I have made a hardreset and install anything new. The only new is a new version of battery status but this works.
For a few days I installed a WWE Version from PDAView and than BePe´s again. And now I have this strange Problem.

I suggest that bug reports or reports of weird behaviors of specific ROMs are kept in the thread where the ROM got released. In this case it would be bepes thread.
After flashing bepes ROM, did you restore a backup archive of some sort? SPB Backup or anything comparable?
What else is installed except Battery Status which isnt included in bepes ROM? This includes all CABs which are "bugfixes" as well.

No I didnt restore a backup. I install the same cabs as before but I think the problem is solved. The problem seems to be batterystatus.
I reinstall bs and my theme for bs and now the error seems to be gone.
I will test it a few days.

I don´t now what I can do.
Since I try an other WWE OS and now went back to BePes German ROM my Polaris hangs or restart. I cant define in which case this happens :-(
Any chance to get this problem solved?
I dont think that is was an error from Bepes Rom cause I used it before I try an other Rom without theese Problems.

Are there any know programs that have a bug like this?
I use a couple of programs so I have not the time to test any of them.

No I dont use push email :-(

When my polaris hangs it is always the same situation.
S2U2 works fine, I slide to unlock then pocketcm comes up but i can´t minimize pcm only close. If I close pcm a black and blank desktop appears. The LED is blinking normally but when I call myself (from an other phone) i get an free line signal but my phone dont rings or show me a call.

I suppose you will have to try and diagnose the issue with adding one program at a time, then using it for a day or two, then add another and test it like this. random reboots on any hardware are very hard to diagnose. is anyone else experiencing reboots with bepe's rom at all?

I dont think that the problem is BePe´s Rom cause it was running 2 month before without problems. The problems began at the time I changed to an other rom.
I have more than 20 Programs installed thats too much time for me to test.
Thats the reason I ask if someone has heard of an program that causes this issue.
My english is soo bad

MicroSD TransFlash Formel1 4GB.

Since yesterday I use my "old" SDCard and at this time I had no problems. Can this be the reason?

Can it be the reason that I flashed a wwe rom and went back to a german rom?

does the phone reboot without any self installed applications? i.e. flash with an original rom and test it without adding ANY other applications.
If it still reboots there is a problem with the phone.
If you add all you apps and it reboots then there is a problem of incompatabilty with one of the apps. you will then need to carefully install one at a time and test each install for a while. this is the only way to diagnose a software fault.
if you do not do this then you will not know why it is rebooting. simple really.

Need help with registry to edit Manila 2.5 Home Quick Links

I am using Duttys WM6.5 Leo R5 ROM on htcpedia.
I don't like the fact that the Quick Links in the home screen, when set to show you a contact's card, take you to the "edit contact" screen. I want it to take me to the screen that asks you if you want to "call home" or "call mobile" or "send message" or "send email". In other words, I want it to take me to the same main screen that appears if you tap on a contact in your "all people" list.
Does anyone know the registry info for that?
I found that the Quick Links are listed in HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/Home
The list goes from 0 to 8 for each Quick Link
If I select a contact set to take me to the contact card, I see that the "ContactFavorType" is set to 0.
If I select a contact set to call that person, then the "ContactFavorType" is set to 42 (hexadecimal), and the person's phone number is entered in the "ExePath" section.
I assume that if I can somehow find the correct hexadecimal value for the main contact screen window, I can enter it in that "ContactFavorType" section.
I hope someone can help me with this. I don't know if it's a bug, or if HTC meant it that way. But to me it makes no sense for it to take you to the edit contact screen instead of the actual contact card, where you can choose what you want to do.

This issue was resolved in Dutty's Leo R7 WM6.5 Manila2.5 ROM.
I am also currently using Dutty's Leo Holy Grail R0 Manila 2.5 and this issue is also resolved in that ROM.
So, I'm not sure why you are having that problem.
I suggest flashing a stock ROM, then hard reseting, and then flashing Holy Grail R0, and once again hard reseting.
And don't restore any backups (like Spb backup or SpriteBackup) because you might bring the problem back.

This issue was resolved in Dutty's Leo R7 WM6.5 Manila2.5 ROM.
I am also currently using Dutty's Leo Holy Grail R0 Manila 2.5 and this issue is also resolved in that ROM.
So, I'm not sure why you are having that problem.

I hard resetted before and after flashing (twice) as I had the issue with R7 and R6 that the device stuck and sometime hard-resetted itself...
Till now R0 seems fine except the thing with quick-link-contacts and all my birthdays shifted 1 day after syncing with exchange...
If I am the only one experiencing these bugs with R0 I guess I really have to try flashing a stock rom before (though I have no idea why this should prevent anything)...

I have not had any quick link problems at all with Holy Grail R0. They can take me to view the contact card without problems, and the contact's photo is always there to see. I am using the 9-quick link view (not the 16 quick links from the cab that is out there - although I have used them in the past on R7 with no problems). I don't know if other R0 user are having problems with quick links.
You are describing several issues that have been experienced by a lot of users. So, no - you are not the only one. It is also a known fact, that flashing a stock rom before flashing a custom rom helps. That means: flash stock, then hard reset, then flash custom rom, then hard reset. Apparently, there is a program MTTY that is not executed when you flash a custom rom. It is only executed when flashing a stock rom. I don't understand it really, but it appears to that if you don't flash a stock rom first, then some items can remain in memory and can cause problems in the custom rom you are about to flash.
Although flashing a stock rom will not solve all of your problems, it might solve some.

To get help with Holy Grail R0 and see what others are experiencing, post your questions in this thread. I also remember the 1-day birthday shift (or something similar) being discussed there. So, search that thread.
Good luck with getting some of your issues resolved.
If I were you, I would definitely do the stock rom flash etc and then see what problems you are still left with once you flash holy grail R0.
EDIT:
btw - the issue with the phone sometimes freezing after being in stand-by is apparently a Manila 2.5 issue (at least in custom roms). According the another user (makbil), he has experienced it in all M2.5 roms except for one. See his post here.

My HD2 is very unstable with different ROMS. Help please

I'm kinda frustrated with my HD2 device at the moment. It worked perfectly fine until a few days ago.
It has begun to freeze _very_ often. With some ROMS it can't even boot up. It freezes when I have to enter my PIN. On other ROMS it is guranteed to freeze when using ActiveSync/Exchange.
Using HSQL, I've tried L3v5y, XannyTechRom, and MIRI. All with the same result.
Have you got any ideas whats wrong with my device?
Any help will be much appreciated.

I have no idea about whats wrong but this has been a common issue/problem for many members...I don't think I saw this many issues with the HD...I dunno whats wrong with HD2 or the ROMs that it starts freezing for some...maybe the HSPL is buggy? I dunno to be honest.
maybe you should install a stock rom in between or go to MTTY and see if that fixes the issues for you.
Overall tho, its frightening to see how many people have freezing issues with Sense after flashing a couple of custom ROMs...I'm afraid it might eventually happen to everyone and thats why we need to find out what is causing this.
BTW try to format your SD card and then flash a stock ROM without the SD card and see if there is any improvement...my guess is that it will work fine again (for a while at least).

Right after flashing it should be ok and if you install than other programms the startup interfears with the startup of htc-sense
Finaly I have the best result (on my device with the programms I have installed) keeping the htc-Sense startup as the LAST item.
You can change the order with sk-tools (Autotstart items).
You can check this (If you have a chance to access):
- Make a reset and do not enter the pin code of your sim card (on my device this was making a difference, if you do not have a pin code maybe you should take out your sim card that the phone cannot connect)
- Go to the settings and unselect in "Today" "HTC Sense"
Than you should have the normal "speed" of the device and you should be able to start sk tools and change the booting order.
It looks like that - depending on the start up order that applications - processes are waiting for each other and using nearly 100% of cpu power and you have therefore the impression that the device is frozen.
I am sorry I do not know how to change the startup order without sk-Tools

try the strenas rom (arthemis V2). It has solved my pb

When you flash lots of cooked roms, they get "bloated" and the devices started hard-resetting for no reason. this is because of files from old roms being left when the new rom is flashed.
MTTY allows you to enter the device on bootloader and use service commands to format the file system on the device so you can remove all rom files before flashing a new rom!!

basicly it will format your system and make sure you don't have any files from older roms left on the system which might cause this issues.

i tried too l3v5y's ROM and it didn't work. But maybe, your pb is not exactly same as mine.
Do you you a 16 GB card ? for me, it's certainly cause of pb because i can use every rom without sd card
Try to ask more to sternas but i noticed he prefer keep his cook secrets

Try to install "official" 1.61, make HR after boot. After next reboot connect with PC and flash with any cooked ROM. I had the same problems like you and this helped me...

Try deleting the folder "\Application Folder" on the storage card using your PC/Laptop, and reinsert the SD card into HD2. I assume you are using ROM cooked with Manila version that has the document tab.
Let us know if this works for you. It took me a long time and many flashes to figure this out. I suppose you have configured your HD2 for emails or MS Exchange pushmail?
Edit : If you already experience the slowdown caused by inserting the SD Card, MAKE SURE you reboot your HD2 before re-inserting the SD card.

I had this "freezing during startup" with a number of roms (always after I installed my software) and since that I am always "tweaking" it by the startup order as I described it and was able to solve it!
I do not think that it is hardware related in the amount of cases which are reported. And I am also not a strong believer of this "flashing" and mtty discussion (it could be a solution is some cases but I do not think in this relatively larger number of cases which are reported).
For most of the rom cookers it is not the 1st rom cooking they are doing and the HD2 is not the 1st HD2 device for HTC as well. This is the reason why I do not think that there is a principle rom problem nor a principle hardware problem
Manila Sense is a complex pcs of software and the startup is therefore more complex.
Depending on the tweaks the rom cookers are doing on the XIP and other WM internals there could be a timing interfearance during booting and this is creating the trouble for Manila Sense startup (network, phone, etc.).
Reminds me to the "good old days" with ATART-ST where you had dedicated tools to rearrange the startup seaquenze of the Accessories
At least i think it is worth trying it, you cannot loose anything.
But I played not only with the finaly boot order of htc-Sense (the last one) but also I put other elements in a different order.
Sometimes it was helping to install Panolauncher and put it before HTC Sense startup - I had the impression that just having another application before HTCsense made an improvement to "give HTCSense" more time.
Does not sound like science but a little bit like Voodoo ...

i haven't the folder "\Application Folder" on my card. Maybe, this is why this rom works well
I haven't verifyed before so i can't tell you if i had it before

could you try to flash ROM that have manila 1921 (manila without document tab),
I facing so many problem when I install ROM with manila 1922 (manila got document tab)
Now has been 4 day, without any problem flash ROM with manila 1921...

so i just got the last version of sktools.....could anybody please explain how I can change the startup order? sktools has allot of tools and I just cant figure out how its done!

sounds to me like you have flashed so many times you HD2 has become "Bloated"
this is where for eg, Rom X is 110Mb, and then you Flash Rom Y which is only 100Mb.
When you do the flash there is 10Mb of residual files left from the previous rom., when this happens often you get strange things happening like you describe and worse, your device can start hard resetting for no reason!!

I can honestly say, although i have only joined recently, i have been a user of this method for about 6 years, I personally know the Guy who opened the thread and i would stand buy him 100%.

Let us know if this works for you. It took me a long time and many flashes to figure this out. I suppose you have configured your HD2 for emails or MS Exchange pushmail?
Edit : If you already experience the slowdown caused by inserting the SD Card, MAKE SURE you reboot your HD2 before re-inserting the SD card.

I tried deleting the \Application Folder folder and reset the phone.
Of course this equaled a hard reset as all system data stored was in \Application Folder.
So I removed my storage card and did a hard reset so that the system data will not be stored in the storage card.
Hopefully this will be make the device more stable as such.

use the mtty to format ur device first, then flash the rom u want to flash.
I have encountered the same issues just like u, after use the MTTY, so far so good.
the post is kind of complex, but it is worth to have a try.

Manilla Sense 2.5 refuses to load after soft reset

I'm in need of some guru help as this has got out of hand now. Since friday I've been flashing different ROMs hard resetting, soft resetting but still end up with the same problem. I'm at a loss now I'm not sure what to do it's getting very annoying. I've upgraded HSPL to 2.51. Tried running a Task 29 on my internal memory before flashing a rom (currently using Energy ROM 17th April) but whatever rom I try using Sense 2.5 with CHT 1.7 after a soft reset sense will not load up. Even trying a RestartManila.exe or running the manila.exe doesn't work at all.
What can I do?? should I try formatting my SDcard as well?? HELP PLEASE I've reflashed my phone and had to try and reinstall everything over 5 times this weekend and still it does this!!! never did it before until now

I had a similar issue when I copied my wm 5 contacts file to the phone.
If I deleted it, it was fine.
Maybe something to do with the contacts file?

Not sure but I've been using Windows MyPhone to repopulate my contacts after I flash and it's always been fine up till now...

It is common (unfortunately) for PIM contact restorals to hose up manila.
You will likely have to hard reset to get it back, sorry.
What I do is set up GMail as an exchange account and store all my conatacts to Gmail, so when I sync after a new flash all my contacts come back but I still have to manually ad them to the contacts tabs.

By contacts tab do you mean the favourites the 3x3 grid or the whole population ... if the latter that would take me ages!!! otherwise I could just not bother syncing the favourites when I run MyPhone hopefully that would work!

Everything restores just fine including photos.

Cool thanks for letting me know will try and remember not to sync those from now on! Soft resetting and not having manilla show up with every rom I tried in past few days really annoyed me!

Gah I've got this problem again. I erased all contacts and didn't have them as favourites... then yesterday I soft resetted after installing a program and now I can't get Sense to load up it just sits there on Launching Sense.... any ideas?

What prog did you install?
