Greetings,
I'm desperate as I am writing this.
I have blackstone, that I just purchased 2 months ago.
Everything went well with it, I had no issues at all. Suddendly it just stopped connecting to the Internet using the mobile connection.
I can receive/send calls and SMS without problems, I can connect using WiFi or Bluetooth (sharing my Computer's connection) but it doesn't connect using EvDO (unfortunatelly, the country where I live and the Service Provider, has a different band for 3G so I can't use since the beginning).
I have not modified anything in my phone (haven't installed any applications recently). I called my Service Provider, they checked that my account settings were correct and that my data plan was active. Also, I put my SIM card in my wife's phone (a Blackberry Bold) and it connected and browsed the Internet flawlessly.
So, any help please? I don't know what else to do, I have even done a hard reset, by just formatting the phone to its initial configuration state and started from the beginning, but no results!
did you change your sim
did u get this phone on contract.i got a x7510 it was only launched on contract by o2 network.i used an o2 pay and go sim but it wouldnt connect even though the pda was launched by them then they told me there setting are different to contract .so they gave me a different setting similar to another model then it worked.
I acquired this phone in Amazon. I purchased it unlocked.
I live in Uruguay, and I have had my connection working normally as for 2 months now. It suddendly stopped working without any advice.
My service provider (Movistar) has told me my account is fine. But I don't think it can happen that the phone has got broken and now I can make calls, send SMS but not connect to Internet. It doesn't make any sense to just break the connectivity.
IMHO you can do two things. Usually a user 'thinks' that nothing was changed on his PDA or computer however something was indeed changed. You can change this by backing up all your data and doing a factory reset to yr pda.
If this doesnot help then ... I suggest you change provider because this is the second case that has happened; i.e. they did a change internally but never said they did ;-)

Have you tried another Sim in your phone? Since you say your Sim is working in your wifes phone. Narrows it down to network or handset then.

A couple days ago my phone was behaving very strangely, not recieving calls, callers were not going to my voice mail but to strange error messages and I wasn't able to log into my voice mail for an hour or so either. That all resolved itself relatively quickly but since then I haven't been able to log onto my unlimited GPRS cingular account with my Wallaby (T-Mobile branded). My retail (all carrier) Ngage QD connected just fine so I know it's something to do with T-Mobile's network. As I wrote this post, I decided to check the connection in my T-Mobile branded Ngage to be thorough since I was assuming that somehow T-Mobile managed to disable my data passthrough on their network. To my surprise, the T-Mobile Ngage DID connect to the internet! I replaced the SIM in my Wallaby, rebooted and checked my internet connection once again with not a small amount of pessimism but it now works! I must have hard and soft booted it a dozen times in the last two days but it continually refused to connect until I connected with a different device. I don't know if this was an issue unique to me or a regional thing (because of the coincidence with the tower-related problem) or maybe a more prevalent issue but I might as well go ahead and share my solution. Any more technical types who could further illuminate the details please do!
Seems I spoke too soon...
The problem is back. It still works alright when I use the T-Mobile Ngage but the Wallaby gives me the "The answering modem has disconnected" message. In reviewing my device settings, I realized that the asterists in the password field seemed to be a little bit longer than the 9 characters in CINGULAR1 so I changed it and now it works once again. Ergo either Cingular just started checking the password this week or they changed the password this week on our servers or somehow the password managed to change itself in my Wallaby. None of these seems very likely to me. Has anyone had any kind of similar issue this week?
Hi I purchased my Imate K-Jam G4 in the UK sim free and brought it to the Cayman Islands. I do not appear to have any GPRS or edge ability. My service opertaor supports both they tried to send me the settings but came back with handset not supported.
I am running the latest imate ROM and have hard reset a couple of times to now avail. When i click on the internet all i get is cannot connect with current settings. i have tried both types of authentication.
Can anyone help me?
Is it anything to do with the CID lock which reports 001?
Thanks any help will be appreciated
Update:
Ok i have now managed to get it to connect by creating a new connection. However although it shows connected i get no data. can't even open google. any ideas?
Ok now got it working. my sim was not enabled for gprs put it in my wifes phone which had a text with the service provider settings saved them and then put the sim back in my phone. all now works. However seems to cost a small fortune so looks like i am going to disable it again. :-(
I wonder if anyone can help with a fault on my M3100. So far I've searched this website for answers with no luck. I have Hard Reset the phone, upgraded the Radio, all without any luck.
About 6 days ago my M3100 suddenly stopped being able to make or receive calls. Whenever I try to dial out the call drops out before being established, and if I try to call in to the phone the caller receives a series of beeps.
At first it seems to be a SIM problem, but the Vodaphone SIM is fine in any other phone. If I put my Orange SIM in the phone it just comes up as "No Service".
I'm at the end of the line in what to do and it doesn't seems to make any sense.
Any comments, suggestions, advice or help very much appreciated.
..... Further symptom details:
I can send and receive text message with my Vodaphone SIM installed and access WiFi and GPRS networks. Orange SIM won't connect at all! Both SIMS work fine in a standard phone ! Only clue I can think of here is that the Vodaphone SIM is UMPTS and GSM where the Orange is GSM only. The spare phone I tested them in was GSM only.
Could the GSM part of the M3100 be stuffed ?
I'm stumped for the time being!! It doesn't seem to make any logical sense. Maybe any of you who know the in's and out's of how the device communicates might find some clues in that...
Heeeeelp !
More details..
I've just added a few more details on the symtoms.. maybe the few extra clues might yeild some thoughts from someone !
Have you checked the band selection in Settings > Phone?
Is it possible that the phone could have become blacklisted? How long have you had it? How did you buy it? (This is probably NOT it, since the text still works.)
Have you tried a tweaker to enable HSPDA?
Had the phone for over 12 months so Blacklisted shouldn't be the issue. I've tried all the band selections including Auto but no luck.
Haven't tried the Tweaker... do you have any details on that...
Up until it suddenly stopped working it worked on all networks..
Another possible clue is that I was "Roaming" in France for a month and it was there that I made my last successful call. I have UK SIMS... I have an Australian SIM which I'll try now to see if that makes any difference..
Tried an Australian SIM roaming in the UK ! The service connects on two available networks,Vodaphone and TMobile but not on Orange and O2 (like with the Orange UK SIM). Same fault as the before with the networks it will connect to.
This seems to eliminate the SIM or Network being the fault and isolate the fault to the Device...
probably not the issues, but worth a try?
I live in a very strong 3G + HSPDA ares, but cant make or recieve anycalls tho texts work on T-mobile, i need to have my phone in 2G mode, and calls work fine???
If i leave my house and go a few miles 3G works as it should able to call and recieve etc!
Can't seem to work out how to force the phone onto 2G or 3G ... if anyone can advise I'll give that a try!
I have had very similar problems to this.
Please see my post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325149
I do think this is some sort of network problem as after I posted the issues in the thread above, I left home and travelled about 6 miles and the signal came back and the phone worked fine.
Today, I have been able to make and receice calls but all of a sudden I got cut off from a call then could not make or receive calls (incoming goes straight to voicemail).
I can however use my Orange SIM without problem and both Vodafone and Orange SIMs work fine in other phones.

You can also go into Settings > Phone > Band.
If the band tab does not appear (to the right of the network tab), then you may need to do a registry tweak.
From the very helpful wiki:
Enable/Disable GSM/UMTS Band Selection
Cingular kindly disables anything useful about the network on the 8525. To enable the Band Selection Tab on your Phone settings page, set the following:
[\HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\]
"ShowUMTSBandPage"=dword:00000001
To disable, simply clear the value to 0:
[\HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\]
"ShowUMTSBandPage"=dword:00000000

Have travelled outside England again this week and... well the phone works fine roaming on my UK Vodaphone SIM. Seems very ODD.. only thing I can put any logic to is a problem with the GSM part of the phone. It's working here in Stockholm on the 3G network no problem.
Anyone advise how I force the phone to be on GSM and 3G so I can test this theory. The BAND settings under SETTINGS>PHONE don't seem to give you this control over how it connects..
Hey i got the same problem anyone solved it yet!
Hi Sunnyb1
Since my last post I returned to England where the phone was useless. No SIM cards would work, some would not register at all but my Vodaphone SIM seemed to register but as before it would not receive calls, nor could I make calls out.
Now I'm in Australia with an Australian SIM card. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL !!
The phone works just fine !!
It's a mystery indeed...
Without any knowledge of the ins & Outs of how a SIM card / Network / and the phone work together it's impossible for me to arrive at any conclusive logic.
Hopefully someone might stand up to the plate and offer some explanation !
Anyone from HTC out there ??????

I got the phone and it was working perfectly on Orange then i tried unlocking it and ever since it has come up with "NO Service" like you everytime i put a Orange Sim in the phone it does not show up.. but when i put a Vodafone sim it works perfectly i tried reflashing the radio's many times
I unlocked this particular phone 6months before this problem showed up so I don't think the Unlock on it's own is the cause. What's particularly baffling is that a SIM may not work with the phone in one country.. but in another it works fine.
..... another country that is !
Hey Steve i have found out what the problem is after hours of research
I found this of another website
Orange & O2:
If you place an active orange or
O2 sim into a blacklisted handset you
phone will not show any signal strength
at all! If the handset is a Nokia then a
"SIM card registration failed" message
will also be displayed. If your handset is an
Ericsson then an "Invalid Mobile" message
will be displayed. For most other manufacturers
the handset will simply show no signal!
Vodafone & T-Mobile
If you place an active Vodafone or T-Mobile sim into a blacklisted handset, the phone will appear to function perfectly UNTIL you try to make an outgoing call. When you try to call out from the handset you will hear a sequence of beeps and then the call will be dropped!!
........
This means the handset you got is stolen or someone has blacklisted it ... i got mine of EBAY! and reading that i figured that it is stolen
It wont work in the UK but it will work everywhere else in the world
Mmmm... that's interesting Sunnyb1. If my phone is blacklisted then happened in JULY this year which was 8 months after I bought the phone. I bought the phone legit .
Can anyone advise what the "Blacklisting" process is.. I assume its done by using the IMEI number.
Who is the rightful owner of a handset and can any phone be blacklisted by anyone, and possibly by mistake ?
Would unlocking the phone from Orange cause a phone to be blacklisted ??
How can you "Un-blacklist" a phone.
Answered my own question here......
This website seems to have the answers
http://www.unlockme.co.uk/blacklist.html
OK... still on this thread. Can anyone advise how you find out which network in the UK has blocked your an IMEI number. I gather any of the UK networks can block any IMEI and it's not unknown for errors to be made. But only the network that blocks the IMEI can Unblock it.
Thought I'd post this before waiting forever for some call centre dimwit to give me the runaround.
Thanks...
Hi there,
I am confronted with a big issue which affects my ability to place or even receive calls: I cannot connect my HTC HD on the Orange Network anymore.
Two weeks ago I was on the road using TomTom and suddenly Windows Mobile told me that the distant server was disconnected and that I was not connect to the network anymore. Each time I am trying to get a connection, I can see that the mobile detects a network, tries to register (I even can see the Edge icon and some network bars) but always fall back to the 'not connected' icon.
The weird thing is that the mobile detects all the networks it is intended to: Orange, Bouygues and SFR (the three main operators).
Since that day, I have tried everything to re connect the mobile on Orange network but nothing was successfull:
- many and many reboots of the mobile,
- I have suppressed the Orange network connection in the connection wizard and then re created it.
- I have switched the network connection to manual and tried to connect manually: as for auto mode, it displays the following message:
"cannot connect to the selected network. Choose another network or stop you data connection and try again"
- I have switched the band mode from auto to "GSM (900+1800)"
- I have done hard resets
- I have changed the ROM two times: the first one for an up to date Mia and the second time for a Rhodyum 1.1 (the one I am using now).
- I have called the hotline to check if the problem is coming from their devices ; apparently not the case
- I have put my SIM card on another mobile and its working. A different SIM on my HD is not working. I even have changed my SIM card !
I am really desperate now because I do not know where the problem could come from. Should I do something else ? How can I be sure that it comes from my mobile ?
Thank you for your help
Yesterday evening, I have tried to restore stock SPL1.14; It did not work either
Nobody can help me or just give me clues to solve the issue ?
What is your SN? Is a 84x? See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=476139 could be an RMA candidate, read the thred
OK, here's the short answer:
your phone's a nicked device and it's on the IMEI blacklist.
the other possibility is that the contract didn't get paid off so the provider blocked it because of that.
I'm generally always right on this - go get a CheckMEND report from here: http://www.checkmend.com/uk/public/check_start
Your IMEI goes in the Identifier box.
I appear to be having the same problem, I checked via that site and it didnt flag anything up, it was all clean. The problem started yesterday afternoon.
I've tried an O2 sim card in there which works, and someones elses Orange sim card in there, which doesnt
Orange have confirmed the phone is blacklisted, even though the site said it wasn't.

the problem is if this "legitimate" ebay seller, sold it to you before the contract was paid to orange, legally the phone belongs to orange, therefore you've bought stolen goods. Hope you used Paypal, they might offer some protection.

what about if i was using phone for half year and everything was ok and not its happen?
I read about this somewhere, but i can't find the thread.
I know that normal T Mobile firmware requires you to connect to the web through T Mobile Web n Talk.
Well my firmware is now flash to 1.66 WWE and my phone is now unlocked.
I bought a O2 sim and a Vodaphone sim with 3GB and 1 GB prepaid data credit.
Whenever i open a browser app or go to setting> wireless controls > data connections i get this error message:
Cannot Connect
Dialed:
Cannot connect for unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings and change them if needed, tap settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacture's documentation and try again.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?
Hi
I have done the same to my phone and it works fine on O2.
I assume you did a hard reset after the debranding operation?
Once my phone came back to life after all the software changes, I went to Start/Settings/All Settings/Connections/Connection Setup. Tapped the operator button, selected O2 from the drop down list and the phone connected and got all the necessary settings for GPRS an HSPDA connections. You will need to setup a WiFi connection first (I think). It might have downloaded the settings via SMS.
However, if you want to set your phone up manually, try this site first, filesaveas.com/gprs.html
(as a new user I am not allowed to post links yet, so you will have to add the url to the beginning of the link).
it is full of great advice for UK mobile Phone Operators WAP/GPRS/HSDPA/Email settings.
Cheers

um...
I'm not sure if i did the hard reset or not.
I'm going to test it on another Sim, as there is a chance that i don't actualy have usable credit on these Sim's so i'm going to try on a 3 Sim which gets 150mb free with 10 pound top up and is definitely for use in 3G phones.
My sims might be for wireless modem only, not too sure.
If that fails then i'll start look into other options.
How much of a problem would not hard resetting be?
Hopefully i did and that's not the problem.
Good to hear others have had success with T-mobile unlocked.
What is the worse case scenario? Re flashing and hard resetting?
Thanks.
if you were still on your tmo sim when you flashed to 1.66, then you probably still have the tmo settings for mobile data set as default. A hard reset is a good idea, and let the phone pick up the settings from the sim automatically, or at least make sure all trace of tmo is gone.
look here
settings - menu - all settings - connections - connections - manage existing connections to see a list of currently configured mobile networks
I use both a 3 SIM and a t-mobile and the HD2 will pick up their use, configure the settings and store them both at the same time and all automatically.
You shouldn't have the problem that you are experiencing. And its nothing to do with setting a WiFi connection.
Who unlocked the phone for you?

I haven't seen a phone SIM with prepaid data credits. If your phone is set for the right operaror, my guess is that you can't use this data allowance through your phone. You might try the router feature or connect a laptop to use the Web via your phone. If you're in the UK you might try T-Mobile and see if they still offer the PAYG SIM I have. 'Unlimited' data and texts are included in the month after you top up with £10. If you top up in April, data and UK SMSs would be free in May. Top up in May and browse and text for free in June. The £10 top up remains for calls. The offers change but this one suits me.
I use my laptop to connect to the Internet via my HD2 router. T-Mobile say this is against their rules. If they can tell the difference between phone and laptop use, perhaps you can use your data this way and so my earlier comment. They haven't said anything to me yet so I doubt it. I think you'd need to install the router; it's been removed by most operators.

Like I said I have the same SIM as the OP and of course it works in the phone. Its just a SIM with credit on it and I also use it in a mobile broadband USB modem through a 3 WiFi router without any problem.
Some of the prepaid 3 payg boxed deals are preloaded with bundles of data access thats what the OP must have, but there shouldn't be any problem with them connecting in a phone.

Well the O2 and T-Mobile sims that i suspected were modem only i used did not work, but the 3 payg sim i am now using is working perfectly.
3 offer 150mb free with every 10 pound credit topup.
The sims i got were not payg for phone use but modem use i believe.
In anycase it works now.
Where might i find any payg sims with preloaded data for mobile phone use?
Thanks.

I have a T-mobile PAYG SIM in my HD2. When I top up with £10, I get 'unlimited' data and UK text messages in the following month. The definition of unlimited varies but I've used over 1Gb without T-mobile becoming upset. It's not pre-loaded data but amounts to the same thing. You might need to check that the offer is still valid.
