Any other methods of locking the screen? Here's why. - Hero, G2 Touch General

Ok the flip down to unlock the phone is an ok idea I guess. However, I noticed 2 things.
1: When you bring your phone up with the "Flip screen down to unlock" message, you can just press "Menu" and it unlocks it.
2: When I am at work, I keep my phone in my pocket. Several times I have pulled my phone out and it is in the middle of different programs. So somehow the phone get's unlocked when in my pocket.
Is their anything numerical I can do to have to punch in a sequence of numbers to unlock the phone? I am not a fan of the "Draw the line" option the Hero has. So I wanted to see what, if any, other options are out there for locking and unlocking the phone (not a root type of unlock, a screen lock)
Thank you,
Whiteice

OOOOOOLD issues. We have all cursed HTC for their way of thinking in this matter.

Wing keeps putting people on hold!

I am running Ivan's just stable 6.1.
This started 2 days ago.
When i am on the phone it puts people on hold repeatedly, i "unhold" them and right away it puts them on hold again.
Also it also calls people that i just spoke with after i hang up.
When it is "locked" it acts like someone is pushing the unlock button and just goes back and forth from locked to the unlock screen, but doesn't unlock itself.
I tried recalibrating the screen, (touching the points on the screen)
Does anyone have any idea how to fix it or could it be the screen thinks something is touching it.
TIA
if ya'll need any more info just ask.

Sim Lock Help

Just got my phone, bought it unlocked. Went into the bootloader and accidently chose simlock while looking around before I unlocked the bootloader. Now my phone has an ungly padlock icon at the bottom during bootup. Anyone know how to I get rid of this?
lol i dont know how you "accidentally" went into bootloader, switched to fastboot, pressed volume down 3 times to highlight the simlock option and finally press the power button to select.
anyway try pressing the simlock option again.
I was playing around. I wanted to see what was in there, I didn't think it would automatically lock it like that.
I tried going into it again, but no deal. it's not really an issue for me, just an looks thing really.
i doubt you can do anything by yourself. if you could easily switch between lock and unlock there would be no point to the the SIMLOCK option in the first place. If you really care that much (i would) you can just send it in for a replacement. your call.
You realize... the padlock doesn't reference SIM locking. It references an unlocked Bootloader. (If you look at the padlock closely, it's 'open')
SIM locking requires a key-card for a carrier you wish to lock to... Which I seriously doubt you have
Cheers,
Kermee
Ah thanks kermee I kind of did both at the same time and thought it was the sim lock.

I actually, accidentally, did the same thing you did also and hit "SIMLOCK". It occurred to me because there's a slight "lag" when the Bootloader menu comes up and it's still doing checks for several seconds. And when you hit the VOL-UP and VOL-DOWN buttons, the selection bar doesn't move so you don't think it's NOT working so you just hit the hardware TOP-PWR...
Problem is the hardware button buffer *IS* active while you're at the Bootloader screen and after it finishes the checks... it'll happily go through the button presses you did earlier. (i.e. You're hitting VOL-DOWN a bunch of times, not seeing that it's moving, and coincidentally you hit it 3 times before hitting the TOP-PWR)...
If you look closely when you hit "SIMLOCK", you'll see red error text stating you need a key-card. ... So no harm done

Kermee

Is it possible to require pattern, but not slide to unlock?

I would love to use the pattern to unlock, but don't want to have to slide to unlock and enter the pattern. I tried apps that take away the slide to unlock ("No Lock", etc.), but they take away both. Is this possible?
Yes. Get " no lock" dev is BoD
I have it, I use it, love it.
you must be doing something wrong in settings. It does just the slide on my EVO.

So let me get this straight. When you power on your phone, all you see is the pattern to unlock, and after the pattern to unlock your phone is unlocked?
If my "No Lock" app disables lock, then when I power on my phone I get no slide or pattern to unlock, despite pattern to unlock being activiated. Once I enable locking in "No Lock," then both slide and then pattern unlock are back.
Is this not the case for you? I tried all kinds of different things to no avail...
I found found the same problem in other threads. I would link to them but I am too new and XDA wont let me.
Oh snap...my bad...guess it doesn't anymore? I had my lock pattern off for a while now and just re-enabled it and low and behold...kills em both.
When I first installed It shortly after EVO launch day it killed just the slide portion....must have changed through a update? Sorry.

Double screen lock

Wanted to change to the screen lock where you do a certain pattern as opposed to just slide across screen. But when I enable it, the original slide across the screen lock is there as well so I end up having to unlock that, then the pattern lock.
So how do I turn off the one that just slides across the screen???
Cheers

You don't, it's impossible for now (without root).
Bollocks. Is it one of the many things that Orange have added? Like the also very annoying backup pish that kept popping up!!
Nope, it's in the generic firmware too.
Argh! So what's the point then!! I don't want two different locks!! Other than that, the phone is fantastic!!
The point is.. if you fail the pattern too many times then it locks the phone up completely.. so not having the swipe to unlock screen would cause many problems..!!

Doesn't lock up the phone (I tried it when I had it ), it just creates a 30 second timeout!

I have the same problem (Xperia Neo), I'm rooted. How do I remove the slide-unlock-thingy and keep only the pattern-unlock?
The only method I know is an app called Antilock that skips the slide to unlock screen but keeps the pattern unlock

Security Unlock Issue

I have a security issue, unless its me being silly.
I am fully stock unrooted.
I have never had any problem until today and I realised my phone unlocked without a pass code or finger print, I know this because I always wear rubber gloves and have to type the pin in to get into my phone, I do this day in day out and today after several unlocks it stopped asking for the pin.
I have uploaded a video showing what happens
It funny though because when I click the lock on the bottom of the unlock screen it prompts me for a pin or finger print, but if I don't touch the lock, just a simple swipe unlocks it.
Is there something I have pressed by accident which causes this?

I can't replicate the issue here - not sure what would cause this other than the smart bluetooth lock as suggested by the above poster.

I haven't changed anything, I have cleaned the finger print sensor, no new apps installed.
Weird
Put it on charge and it's fixed it's self!
