Same Any fixes?

Well I hate to ask the obvious but inside your update.zip do you have the file "META-INF\com\google\android\update-script"?

Did you ever get an answer to this?
It's because you didn't delete the file contents of META-INF before resigning the zip... you need to leave the directory there but delete the signature files. Otherwise it will sign and verify correctly but throw the subject error.

which files
Can you tell me what i need to delete? I'm trying to flash cyanogenmod 6 and when I open the zip file I'm not sure what which files I have to delete.

root?

I have a G1, and I tried to get root. I downgraded to RC29, and then downloaded the recovery.img file and the Hard SPL, downloaded telnet and all that, then tried to flash the spl as update.zip to the phone using the recovery console (i think that's what it's called, i pressed home+power to get there). it keeps giving me an error message "E:No Signature (26 files) E:Verification failed". i tried to download another one, and it gave me the same message. i've been looking for a solution for six hours and nothing helped ;( anyone think they can help me?
Did you try editing the zip in any way? Did you extract it/etc? You need to take the downloaded zip, rename it update.zip, and put it on the sdcard. Do not change any files in it or extract it. Hell, don't even open it.

Doesn't sound like you're using the SPL update.zip. That updater only contains one file.
@gary13579 the only thing i did to the zip was rezip it, cos my mac automatically unarchives everything when i download it.
@jashu do you know anywhere i can get the SPL? i downloaded it from the post on this forum..

That would be the problem. You're going to have to find a way to download it without unarchiving it.
There's a "signature" added to all updates, which tells the phone whether it's a legitimate update or not. When you re-archive it, it loses that signature.

update to 2.2 problem E:No signature (411 Files)

If you have the problem:
Install from sdcard...

E:Verification failed
use mediafire.com/download.php?qt0hfogmuwt
I have a rooted nexus one, downloaded that file and then didn't wipe it,,
Just renamed it to update.zip (in the SD card) and flashed it.
I got it from mobiletechworld.com/tag/android-2-2/
I dont know why its much bigger than other links (~80mg) but it worked with me
N'joy
It has to be on the root of your sd card and NOT in your download file.
Use an app like astro, and move the file from the downloaded folder to the root.
i have this problem
where is this file from, are you rooted and did you do a wipe?
can someone confirm that it works?
That sounds like you haven't gone back to the stock image/recovery/etc. first.
I still have same problem using this file.

File request: HeroOfSparta.apk

Greetings all,
I am currently running build 1.016.04_COM_GEN1, and the OTA upgrade to 1.139.04 is failing- exclamation in triangle after reboot. It does successfully return to Honeycomb afterwards. So I did some reading (thank you all for so much useful info in various threads) and found that I had stuffed it up by deleting HeroOfSparta.apk after rooting it (I guess I should have read the post about deleting things a bit better), without taking a backup.
After finding the log file /cache/recovery/last_log, it tells me:
Installing update...
Verifying current system...

So I'm putting in a request for this file please- either by itself or as part of an image, if there is one. I did a pretty thorough look through the posts and couldn't find any links to a backup of this image or file. If it helps, all of the other files in the /system/app directory have a date of 18 Mar 11.
And with it I'd like to salute all of you who are gradually helping me make this the most awesomely indispensable tool I've ever had!

Since this file is needed to correct update I think YES we can post this kind of files in this forum.
Should be fine as hero of sparta was the trial version.
Lets golf and shift on the other hand are the full versions

/app FOLDER
I will be uploading the /system/app folder for those of you that are in need of those APK's...
This will be through MEGAUPLOAD as that is the account that I have for uploads. I will post a link for it today since I have received many requests for multiple files on this... I dont think that it will be against rules as I will not be hosting files here and these are meant to be used as "RECOVERY ONLY" information...
Anyway, as stated, when I get home from work I will begin the upload and post the link once it has completed. jejeje
If anyone believes this is AGAINST FORUM RULES please let me know before this so that I dont get myself in trouble...
Hope this will help everyone! jejeje

Doesn't it need execute permissions? Not sure how Android is as opposed to Linux, but rwxr-xr-x would make more sense if you intend to run it?

Trying to Install xRecovery

So I'm trying to install xRecovery using this link and I download the .zip file and unpack it. First I try to "Automatic Installation (recommended): Open xRecovery installer app and tap "Install xRecovery" but I can't find the xRecovery installer anywhere so I try:
Manual Installation:
- Download the apk, rename it to xrecoveryZIP
- Unpack the file, find ./res/raw folder inside. It should contain 3 files (chargemon, busybox, xrecovery.tar)
- copy these 3 files into /system/bin using root explorer (remember to remount /system rw
but when I go to the /system folder there's no /bin folder and I have zero clue what to do
PS - as far as i know i've successfully rooted my phone using superoneclick

First make sure your phone is rooted, then install Busybox from Market. Make sure Busybox is installed on xbin, not bin..
Got into the same prob coz its installed on bin, tried to reinstall busybox and saved it to xbin and i manage to install xrecovery..
Thanks for the quick reply! In the busybox installer it says "status: done" but i don't know if it actually installed or not b/c i don't see busybox anywhere ??
k so i can get to the system/bin folder on my phone but i can't copy over the files like the instruction says it says "xxxx file copy failed" for every file i try to paste into the /system/bin...i like to think i'm not completely retarded but this ish is killin' me
When you install Busybox, theres an option where to install it. install it to xbin, not bin.
When it's done, its done. then try installing xrecovery.
Also, install xrecovery using the Automatic way, its easier..
When doing a copy/pasting or editing, make sure Root Explorer is in r/w, not r/o
I would install it the automatic way if I could find the installer anywhere :-/

Dude its in that thread: http://www.mediafire.com/?eyihuzn4h96xw4c
DL that then, go to Market and search for an apk installer. install that.
Then copy the xrecovery apk to ur sd. open the apk installer of ur choice. it should then scan for apks in ur sd card. install xrecovery and ur done.
I too am having the same problem as yours but managed to overcome this issue by installing xrecovery via flashtool.

Theres a free root explorer in the market. Look for one.. Try looking for some youtube videos online for the x10...
Sent from my Rooted X10i
if i watch this video, there's a point where he clicks on the file on his phone and the file's icon is the little android mascot or whatever and when he clicks on it it gives him the option to open it with the app manager and when he clicks on it it takes him through the installation. whenever i go to the file on my phone, 1) the icon attached to it is the same as for a .zip file and 2) when i click on it it only gives me the option to extract it.
Also, give flashtool a try.... Gtg.
Sent from my Rooted X10i
thx for trying to help, much appreciated.
any other takers???
Dont extract it, just copy the file the way it is to ur sd card... Scan again with an apk installer...

that's what i did, copied it without extracting it

[TOOL][ROMDEV] working baksmali for honeycomb

I recently made a discovery regarding the RETURN_VOID_BARRIER issues encountered while trying to deodex honeycomb's framework. Here is a working version of baksmali based on JesusFreke's 1.2.7 patch with the difference that it now produces compliant smali code that can be recompiled by smali.jar 1.2.6. This means that there is no need to edit the smali code to be able to recompile it.
I tried recompiling with smali 1.2.7 and got a nice box of bootloops so stick with 1.2.6 until a proper fix is implemented in the official smali tools.
Thanks! This was most useful for my project today!
I'm really amazed more people haven't noticed/commented on this TBH.
NetworkLocation.odex still give errors.
Thats the error:

It's a zip of a jar file. The jar file is a zip like format, so maybe whatever you are using to unzip is a bit aggressive? Try something milder

Thanks for gettin me outta my n00b moment silly osx unzipped it and made it seem like just one zip file, its been too long since ive done any dev work on my mac
Yeah, it happens. When I want to peek at something on my mac, sometimes it goes into a loop where it unzips to a tar.gz and then when I try to open that, it opens up a zip. Infinite loop!
It works fine from the terminal command line and zipeg seems to do a good job.
