Halo everybody,
I'm going to sell my hero and would like to reset the device to the factory setting (incl. removing nandroid). Can I just use the official HTC update or is it more difficult to cover up my tracks?
Pio
just use the official 2.73 RUU and it should do it.

Hi All,
I hopefully should be getting my X1 tomorrow! (if O2 get it back in stock anyway!)
Im new to Windows Mobile but not new to Windows in general! so I have been reading on here for quite a few weeks regarding customising my X1. I have a very silly question regarding hard resetting.
Is the original factory image of the phone stored on a seperate hidden partition of the disk that we cant see? Does hard reseting completely reset back to factory settings removing all mods etc ? Is there a way by modding the phone we can ruin this "factory" image?
Im just working out that if I install a mod I dont want... can I Always get it back with a Hard Reset?
Thanks in advance,
Craig
Yes, you go back to a fresh out of teh box handset. Everything is wiped.
You don't need to do it often if you don't play with experimental software ported from oher devices etc...
I have used WM for 4 years now and have only once done a hard reset.
iam new to this i was wondering where do i get the factory rom for my hd2 i didnt back my contacts up so now i got to reinstall factory rom to get mobile back up so i can back it up with pim
What are you asking? If you didn't back up your contacts, re-installing the stock ROM isn't going to bring them back.
would someone still link to the stock rom, i want it back
tmobile.com support hd2, or similar.
i have a friend who did the OTA gingebread update, he didn't know any better....
I'm pretty good with rooting and I know there's no update or way to do it yet for that (GB), but if he did a factory reset does that revert back to the old OS? Or does it keep the current OS?
Thought we'd check before hand and this is the only place I could think of to come and ask.
Doing a factory reset only deletes ALL data on the phone; it keeps the current firmware, ie, he'll still be on gingerbread.
My phone is getting old, and because of that some problems are emerging with age.
It turns out that whenever my phone starts to behave in an unsatisfactory way, I do a factory reset.
My question is, what is best, do a factory reset or reflash the rom? Or there isn't any difference? I'm on stock 4.4.4, without root or custom recovery (I like Android this way ) and never unlocked the device.
Would a fresh install solve occasional problems caused by the OTAs?
Sorry for the bad english.
If you haven't gotten your answer already, the best method to reset your phone to fix various issues is to factory reset your phone. This returns it to the complete default state of software, where all apps should be working. Flash a rom simply replaces the system partition with the system partition of the rom, and thus is not as complete as a factory reset.
Basically, if you're having issues with a stock rom, just factory reset it and it will get rid of most, if not all, issues.
I rooted my nex4 so i could put some apps on but left the rom stock but now it is not updating properly. I read that my phone needs to be unrooted to update properly or to do a factory reset (I am thinking about selling it, but would like to be able to say its updated and clean).
Is there a program that I can use to *un*root my nexus 4?
Thanks in advance
Flash factory image.
