Hi guys!
Was wondering if it is possible to tell G-Sensor to rotate the ThreadedSMS orientation in compliance with how the phone is being held. (horizontally or vertically)
I tried capturing it with TD2 Tools, but since the category is "Manila" the whole TouchFLO3D interface rotates too. By itself actually really great, only that the Sense interface (Manila 2.5) doesn't support horizontal view on many tabs, thus them becoming blank when flipped.
So yeah... is it possible to add JUST the Threaded SMS to the whitelist or not?
Thanks for answering.

+1 to this question from me. i'd love me a horizontal view (just finished tweaking my fingerboard setup. BIG keys ftw!)

There is no "whitelist" for HTC sense landscape mode, it's just that the device that it has been leaked from, the HTC Leo, doesn't have a keyboard and is not a primary landscape device and the Sense that is designed for it doesn't include landscape on all the tabs. It's like when the Diamond and the Touch Pro came out with Touch Flo 1 or 1.5 (I can't remember) but the Diamonds TouchFlo had no landscape mode and the Touch Pro's (kindof) did.
So the bottom line is that until some devices like the Rhodium get an upgrade to Sense, then we won't have landscape in the other tabs, unless someone decides to design it themselves.
Hope that helps,

Ok, I guess my post was a bit confusing.
I'm very well aware that there's no "whitelist" for HTC Sense and that most of the tabs don't support landscape mode. (Only exceptions are actually Photos and Music) But G-Sensor, thanks to TD2 Tools, is very well capable of turning the display and many tabs work quite well... INCLUDING the message tab and threaded messaging.
But some other tabs, (as you, and actually even I stated in my 1st post) like the home tab, don't support landscape, turn blank and display only the taskbar and the wallpaper when turned horizontally.
I want to clarify, I do NOT want to be able to force landscape to ANY part of the TF3D interface (=all the tabs from home till settings). I only want the landscape mode WHILE TYPING a THREADED Message.
If you actually turn off threaded messaging and switch to classic mode; OR if you start a new message it rotates flawlessly. (WM 6.5)
So 2nd try, a bit more clear this time I hope: Is it possible to add ONLY the Messaging screen to the Whitelist of G-Sensor. Again, not talking about whole Manila turning, just the SMS WRITING part of it. NOT the TAB in TF3D.
Thanks for the help, and thanks dwizzy130 for being the first one to answer.

I think he is after the Sense threaded messaging in landscape as if you start a new sense message you can have it in landscape but once there are actual messages it won't let you.
I too would be interested in this as I prefer to type on the landscape keyboard...

Precisely! And yeah, the only reason I care about landscape mode is the more type-friendly keyboard.
Attached are some pics to clarify it even more.
Image 1: The All Message view of the Sense interface. It CAN rotate. When you click on a message here it takes you to Image 2.
Image 2: Threaded SMS. You see all the messages in the conversation, iPhone style. Screen does NOT rotate. <---- I wonder if THAT can be fixed.
Image 3: Started a new SMS and then added a recipient. Screen rotates flawlessly. However, previous SMS Exchange does not show up.
Well heres to any smart ideas.
Cheers,
-Rag.
it is possible
it is possible to have threaded SMS to be in landscape mode the only problem is that it is a bit odd. Unlike the Touch pro 2 when the touch diamond 2 goes landscape on threaded sms you cant see the last and the one sms after because the bar to type is blocking it. but if you still want to try look up how to put touch flow 3d in landscape mode, or Manila on landscape. hope that helps
i found it, its a registry hack (this is not mine the credit goes to whoever found it)
To basically use Manila in landscape mode, there are 3 registry mods needed:
1) Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila
String: EnableLandscape Value: true
2. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName
String: TF3D Value: \Windows\manila.exe
3. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
String: TF3D Value: Manila
to add this i suggest you use CEregeditor, or any other registry editor you prefer. good luck
Nope
HTC Sence does not support landscape mode on the TF3D Interface. That's only for Manila 2.1. I already explained that landscape can be forced but it's corrupted. So thanks mate, but not what I'm looking for.

Although it does show that the messaging system should be able to handle a landscape view on a reply to a threaded text....

Instruction:
Make sure that that TF3D installed and works like it should in portrait mode
Get latest MortScript from here. Tested with latest beta (preferable).
Install MortScript on your X1
Unzip attached script and put in your \Windows\StartUp (or localized name) folder on your X1
Softreset (or run script manually)

The basic idea is VERY simple - just prevent screen rotation while TF3D is active and allow landscape for any other apps.
Script dynamically switches between landscape and portrait modes if keyboard is unfolded and device is switched from TF3D to “normal” app or vice versa.
If you are using standalone SPb Mobile Shell (not as a panel) this script prevent show "SPb Now screen" on wakeup if TF3D is onscreen.
Now with real prevention of landscape for TF3D.
Drawback - camera button remapped to right softkey while TF3D is on screen. Looking for solution.
Version History:
v1.0
+ Initial Version
v1.1
+ Added ability to autodisable "SPb Now on wakeup" while TF3D on screen
v1.3
+ Real prevention of landscape for TF3D. Camera button not functional while TF3D is on screen.
v1.4
+ While TF3D is on screen right softkey button works as camera button
+ If TF3D isn't on screen right softkey buttion works as right softkey (hardcoded)
Please include in report TF3D version (source) and type of TF3D use (Today/Panel).

OK, so test it.
And don't forget to report.
Just developed new script for people who use SPb Mobile Shell not as a panel.
I’m personally prefer use SPb Mobile Shell in that way because I like fullscreen look and feel of Mobile Shell (and Mobile Shell Panel doesn’t support Russian).
This script include functionality of TF3D landscape workaround plus prevent SPb “Now Screen” to be shown in case that TF3D active.
If you don’t have SPb Mobile Shell you can use this script as well, it will function only as TF3D landscape workaround in that case.
Installation instruction in first post.
Just tried it. It works. When the phone switch to landscape mode when you slide out the keyboard, it switches it back to portrait mode.
Although i really wished that this script stops TF3d to switch to landscape mode entirely. so we dont see that ugly ass half pixelated screen at all

It's just my first mobile script.
I'll try to find out is total prevention possible becase I don't like ugly screen on nice device too.
But anyway it's better to have ugly screen for 1-2 seconds than ugly screen all the time.

did you follow the instructions exactly? do you get any error messages?
i originally used the version of this with the spb fix in it (for no reason than I could) then replaced the 1.3 file. Can't see how that would make any difference.
I am using the b10 of mortscript btw, but don't think that makes any difference.
Karlson nice script, I might try some different plugins, if I can get the old BIG VGA home plugin working from the x7500 that would look great in landscape. I've never been that impressed by this action screen..
Think about it I might just try some of my old Rltoday screens.
Very nice fix

Hi, I am the new owner of a touch hd and wanted to know what my best option was for landscape texting and if their was any auto-rotate landscape texting available? even if their is no auto-rotate, can anyone direct me to my best option for landscape texting? thanks
Derrick
Hi !! 24 hours HD owner and I adore it. Actually I found a cool application called Gyrator2 , it switches to landscape and rotate screen depending on how you hold the device ( like iphone ). Check it : http://gyrator.brins0.net/?page=downloads
you can try the new GSen from the Touch Pro 2: http://www.fuzemobility.com/gsen-now-enabled-in-more-apps/
you can add individual applications to the list as well but it works on most applications without any need to add more: http://www.mobilitydigest.com/gain-more-control-of-the-gsen-apps-tp2-edition/
I've used this on a Touch HD and it works
I have tried gsen.
At the moment im am using Dutty's 2.1 Extreme ROM and far as i know manilla should work in lanscape too.
Rotating Manilla seems to be disabled in gsen and i read that i need to add some registry keys in HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\.
I dont really understand how that keys need to look like to make it work. Does anyone else had success?
Edit:
Just found out how it works.
You could also try ChangeScreen...
You could also try ChangeScreen which is my personal favourite as I find it easier to configure than Gyrator:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468488
Can you rotate the screen whilst on TF3D?
Like so when im typing a text, its sideways (Landscape) and not long ways (Portrait)?
When o nthe internet it does it auto when I turn the phone.
Its a standard HD, no roms installed.
Yes you can, and plz use search.
There are many many ways to do this on the hd. you just need one of the rotation programs (changeScreen, gyrator, gsen....).
Again, plz use search before posting.
Topic Creator,
You can use programs like Changescreen to do what you want. I'd recommend this program as it seems very good and user friendly. However, if you want a more normal hands on approach, you can even use AE Button Plus, or heck, make a mortscript to do it for you.
However, after testing on my own HD, you can't really flip the the TouchFlo HOME screen as it'll be all funny and weird. I'm guessing you'll need a custom ROM like Dutty's to be able to do that.
Cheers.

To clarify that, in order to flip 'home screen' or any of the manila tabs, you need manila 2.0 or higher which supports landscape. Manila 1.0 (which is stock on all stock ROMs) does not support landscape mode. However, you will still be able to rotate the sms/email to landscape (without flashig the ROM) through one of the programs as they are not part of manila. (As noted, it is also possible to assign rotation to one of the 'hardware' buttons instead of using the gyrator/accelorometer.)
I have searched heaven and hell to find a way to get the D2 running in landscape view, that is for it to switch to landscape view when you rotate the screen. So far I have found apps that allows everything but manilla and its tabs (including home page) run in landscape.
Is there a way to do this?

You can make use of the Topaz drivers itself to do auto-rotation. You do not need to install additional application running in background.
There're some registry editings to be done. Nevertheless, you can use this application to help you enter those into the whitelist. You need to soft-reset after inputting all the applications you'd like to auto rotate.

Landscape manila for d2 is more annoying then useful, if you tilt the phone past the tilt point either way (portrait or landscape) it will rotate and take at least half a second to change screen, and it enerally takes more to come back to portrait. This makes it difficult to immediately read stuff or accept calls as the screens changing layout and the buttons end up in different places.
Landscape would only be useful on phones like the pro2 and it's previous variants when you need landscape while the keyboards out. Other than that just make your mail programs etc landscape capable.
There are other threads with reg keys and apps to use, just follow those and see if they give you success.
Cheers,
Scott
Graphics from the manila tabs aka TD2 homescreen are not designed for lanfscape view, therefor its like Scott (post #4) sayd, more annoying than usefull.
Thanks a lot guys. I think I see your point. Funny thing is that it was my recently installed S2U app that drove it home. It was annoying as hell when it kept switching to views.
Excuse the silly question but is there a way to put the HD2 in landscape mode permanently? I'm using BsB tweaks but I really hate it when Opera rotates back to portrait and jumps back to the top of the web page every so often. Surely there must be a permanent landscape mode like there was in all previous WM versions?
phone call screen
the worst thingie is when it is landscape mode and u receive or make call..the phone call answearing screen is in portrait mode...and never rotates to landscape.have tried bsb tweaks = no change! must get phone on portrait and then get to landscape to have phone screen on landscape mode. it changes to landscape mode but not automaticly.
so is there any way to make thios to work?
any solutions?...or still noone interested about this issue?
You can disable the phone canvas and use the WM default one or install your own, like PhoneEx.
I would also like to have this option in my HD2. it would be perfect for the time spent in car...
Use a ROM with a Sense version that works in landscape and disable the HTC dialer.

Change the reg. key
HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation\HideOrientationUI" from "1" to "0"
Then you see in Settings > Screen a radio-buttion for
choosing the format.
But no garanty for nothing with reg.-keys.

....or use Gyrator which will rotate the phone canvas and anything else.

Yeah that seems to be the missing one. Unfortunately it is rotated back by just any screen that doesn't support landscape like the quicklist (=long press power button) and even WM's today screen

Gyrator works fine but that's not what I want. I don't like autorotation and WM should be able to stay in the orientation you tell it to. The problem with autorotation is when viewing a web page while lying down on my side, it flips the HD2 to portrait while I would like it to stay in landscape.
I told you what to do. Try it.
Attached is the .cab to disable HTC's phone canvas. Now you need a ROM with a Sense version that supports landscape (1922, maybe also 2012) and, if you want, you can install another dialer software, like Iconsoft PhoneEx.
Additionally, you can install an application to rotate the screen manually, like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347705
That's how I use my HD2 all the time, so I know it works and gets you full landscape, without ever rotating back.
It 'll probably come to installing a custom rom. Haven't done that on this phone yet and I think it's a bad thing that doing that would be necessary. Even more because I know that every unwilling application could just rotate it back. It should be possible to apply the same tweaks the custom landscape rom cooks use on the standard rom, shouldn't it?
No, there is no way to have the landscape enabled Sense version without a custom ROM.

Which custom ROM will make HD2 in permanent landscape (i.e. untill you tell again it to be in portrait) for all and each application which autorotates (some even without physically rotating HD2 like Phone ...)? This does matter a lot for me to get Redfly Mobile Companion working smoothly with HD2. I have applied some background tweaks like HDWall and it made screen in hi-res like it is RealWVGA for HD2 much better to view and get more information on screen, but I am really bugged by this auto-rotate featute of HD2. I have enabled rotation, assigned a button even than it flips to portrait mode whenever I connect Redfly so basically on Redfly's 800x480 landscape screen, I get a 480x800 screen scaled/stretced to 800x480! How weird it is! And when I play video on HTC Album or WMP in full screen it gets to full screen in portrait mode and weirdest it looks! I want this auto-rotation fancy to be stopped and for ever unde user control so once HD2 is put in landscape mode (left/right handed) evrey application follows the set landscape orientation come what may. No more auto-rotate, not even with phone put inro landscape or portrait. So three things required,
(1) Rotation disabled on phone's physical orientation. Let phone be in protrait or landsape mode physically but ONCE disabled screen will not rotate with phone.
(2) Other application which change to portrait mode automatically whatever the phone's physically orientation is (like by default portrait Phone, long preess power button, YouTube etc..) will stop this behaviour and will be forced to phone's assigned or set screen mode. So if phone is set in landscape, no matter what application or phone's physicall orientation be, all such unconrtolled applications will come under full control and will be forced to follow set orientation mode, i.e. landscape if it is set.
(3) Setting of mode in LS or Portrait and left.right hand. Once selected phone stays in that untill it is changed again bypassing all HTC SENSE/MANILA/G-SENSOR and all that stuff.
Anyone please help.
PS. HDWalls v 1.29b from HD Walls v 1.27b enabled landscape on Manila v 2012 and WM 6.5 and have options to creat custom backgrounds, so this does anable landscape in Manila once required Manila patch (V 1.22 or v 1.3) is applied, so it gets Manila in landscape but above auto-rotation still remains, it is not able to put device in permanent landscape mode for all and each application.
