Hi all,
one thing I used to love on my Sony Ericsson phones was the EMS (Enhanced Messaging Service), mainly the little animations. For those who don't know EMS lets you include preset animations or sounds in texts by sending them as a code. The receiving phone then reads that code and shows it's version of the same animation/emoticon/sound.
Sadly the Diamond doesn't have this and I miss it a lot as they really brighten up texts. I believe though that the SE Xperia X1 does have EMS support so I was wondering if anyone knows how to get this onto the Diamond?
Many thanks,
Mik
hi mik, used to see you a lot on se-nse when I was a lurker modding my w810 lol
anyway I'm afraid I can't help you, also I think the x1 doesn't have the animations,it is really a htc device with an se badge.
I believe microsoft has to add the function to the messaging app for it to support the animations, but I don't think it'll happen.
Hi roflnova,
I'm still busy on se-nse, actually an Admin on there now
I had read that the X1 had EMS but obviously that info was inaccurate. However, surely this can be added with a software app and doesn't need M$ to implement it. I have found a few old topics referring to certain apps but they're all so old the links are dead or just go to something unrelated.
Anyone know which apps are available these days?

actually no has paid attention to this topic but its very good & urgent
just see this link
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa919404.aspx#
I guess it's something that long time WM users have never had so they don't miss it and aren't bothered.
Thanks for that link, I had seen that before but doesn't that just enable the use of an EMS client and still leave us needing that actual client?
So is there no good EMS service for the Diamond?
Is it just me or do any of you noticed how vague the descriptions for the camera, sd card and sms fix are? I mean there is nothing specific about what exactly is fixed. As an example:
Update for HTC HD2 SD Card Storage Capacity
This update for HTC HD2 further extends support of the SD Storage Capability. Taking pictures with your 5 Megapixel lens and dual LED flash can only truly be appreciated at the maximum quality, and now with this update, you will be able to appreciate how much more you can store in your 8GB or more SD Card.
What does that mean? More efficient compression of photos, or support for bigger cards eg 32GB? I tested before and after shots and do not see a decrease in files sizes of photos taken so your guess is as good as mine.
Then this:
Update for HTC HD2 – SMS Function Update
This update for HTC HD2 messaging lets you reach out to your friends and family with instant notifications. Keeping in touch has always been very important, and this update delivers just that: fast and reliable SMS messaging.
Is it a fix for the stuck sms in outbox? Again it does not state exactly what was fixed. Is it because HTC does not want to admit to bugs? Then why do we need these updates?
I prefer straight-to-the-point logs of what exactly these update does. I would have skipped the sms update if I knew it only fixes the stuck sms as I do not have that problem so why fix something that is not broken.
Maybe I am not brilliant enough to read what's on HTC's mind with these vague updates. Quietly Brilliant indeed.
any complaints/hatred , please direct to HTC .

I am SO with you on this. Very annoying!
Release notes? In general, a proper description of a bug fix should not require use of drivel like "keeping in touch has always been very important" - nor is it written by the marketing department.
EDIT: You'll be happy to know HTC just posted a new fix for the calendar view (though the download link is currently broken). Another meaningful description!
Update for HTC HD2 Calendar View
This update for HTC HD2 expands the dynamic nature of the Calendar application. Whether your week starts on Monday or Sunday, allowing you to view appointments occurring tomorrow, next week, or even next month.

I have some theories on what it might fix, but you'll get no clues from the description...
Ahhh... The great "everything is good, even if some things are terrible" methodology of HTC.
I'm starting to think that they take one week to write the actual bug fix, and two weeks to write the description that goes along with it.
Link for calendar view doesnt work for me...when I press download new site opens saying that the page doesnt exist...
Not so sure about how quietly brilliant the "fixes" are.
SMS fix: Removes auto-lock and some email capability
Camera fix: Causes phone to freeze
Perhaps there is something wrong with my phone. I'm using the most up-to-date HTC rom as well.

You got the exact same "Page not found..." error earlier this month when HTC first listed the 1.48 ROM on the downloads page for the HD2. The download was listed a day or two before the actual file was available...
Not on the HTC website any more, and neither is the 1.48 ROM?!

EDIT: Was looking at the worldwide site not the Europe site, sorry!!

No hatred. Just wanted to see if I am alone in feeling that HTC is being vague with their fixes and I have directed this to HTC so I will feedback to the forum if there are any response from them.
As for getting more info from this forum, I think it would not have been necessary if HTC had made clear what was exactly fixed, because this forum can only provide educated guesses on what HTC did with the updates. Nothing like hearing it from the horses mouth.

It is still there if you follow the link in Post #3. I just downloaded it and it says this is applicable for ALL Roms. I wonder why it was removed from the main site. This is exactly what I mean. The Read Me is so vague I am wondering if I should apply the patch and since it was removed, are ther problems with it... hmmm.
after the SD update my i can now store 9862, before it was 5028
Yeah i've made this point in other threads elsewhere in the forum. The hotfix descriptions are infuriating. HTC should be explicit about what the fix is supposed to actually fix. Otherwise, how is the user-base supposed to assess the effectiveness of the patch? Descriptions for these updates should not be written like sales pitches; we've already bought the device! They should be written in a functional, technical way, detailing precisely what has changed. I actually find this issue far more frustrating than the bugs themselves. It's patronising to customers, and unprofessional.
It seems to have fixed the capitalisation issue. What it has not done is addressed the facts that (1) it won't let you start typing until it's loaded all the messages between you and that person which takes ages if you have more than about 20 messages between you, and (2) that it randomly goes over to number mode completely unprompted and the only way to type letters is to go landscape full QWERTY.
They could do with sorting this out.
anyone with a pure come on over and make an account! anything and everything pure. check it out!!

Mod Edit - Sorry but promoting links to sites that require registration is generally not allowed. You can see that if we allow that, then we would be over-run with Spam links to sites - even if we limited it to PDA/Phone sites.
I appreciate the site you linked is relevant and possibly very good, so I hope you understand why the link has been removed. I'm sure our friend Google will find it anyway for those interested!
Sorry....
Just found this listed under Hotfix by a manual search....
Mods feel free to delete.
Yeah, I've been asking myself the same question.
Not sure about the Java fix, but I've always been able to browse all my friends' Facebook albums. So now we have a fix but we don't have a corresponding problem! As if HTC didn't have enough defects to take care of...

Hey, apologies for the double post but I figure someone will more likely see this here.
Hi all,
I've noticed that there is a script embedded in the FpseCE (PSX emulator for WM) forums which redirects visitors to either rogue anti virus search results (bing page) or a fake 'your system is infected' script. This sets a cookie which means it won't show up for another 20 days. Both Firefox and IE is affected.
I assume some of the crew behind this emulator are on here or someone knows them, so would someone be able to pass along the message? I don't have time to have a proper look into what's causing it right now, but here's a blog post about this issue - http://www.theprohack.com/2010/04/ne...wordpress.html
If you want to know what I'm talking about, go to http://www.fpsece.net/forum2/ or any page on the forums. You may need to clear your cookies! Once it's viewed, you won't see it again from that page. Remember, it's a scam so for gods sake don't click 'Ok' to anything! Ctrl+Alt+Del to close Firefox if needs be.
Hope that helps.

Edit: Little more info - the rogue script is available on every page on the forum which suggests it's probably lurking in a header somewhere on the page. The main site is unaffected.
The fake rogue scam anti-virus page (hello Google!) is hxxp://gescansecurity.org (with a referral link at the end). This page also redirects to Bing results for 'freeantivirus'
I don't like seeing scammers attempting to take advantage of anyone, let alone XDA, so hope this can get fixed asap!
