DLNA Server on WM6 - Networking

Hello everybody,
I want to know if I can put an application on my PPC
HTC KAISER That make him act as a DLNA server ?
The aim is to share the PPC content with My TV or other
DLNA compatible reader, through my local lan.
Did someone know such a software or able to develop one.
I use in my Computer (Linux Mandriva 2009.1) a software called
minidlna, and it works fine with my TV, I can watch all the PC content.
Can some one help me.
Thank in advance.

Network based service to access multimedia content converted in real time

Hi all,
I'm looking for a program which could make my multimedia files stored on a WinXP PC available on my I-mate K-jam (HTC Wizard) trhough WiFi, resizing video on the go accessing them.
Thx in advance
Have you tried orb or MS Media Encoder.
Orb works through the Internet. I'd like to use my WiFi network only.
Windows Media Encoder let you only stream contents, so it doesn't let you you choose them from the "client" device, you're stuck with the content the server is streaming at that moment.
Yes, I already tried them both before
Have you tired VLC?
There is a VLC port for wm5. See it that will work.

SSH Tunnel Client?

i've searched without luck. can anyone suggest a good SSH tunnel client for WM5/6? i want to tunnel from my tytn via cingular 3g to my home pc and then use PIE to access my home media. i do this from work now, but would like to do it from my phone.
btw, i tried zatunnel, which works, but it isn't very stable.
thanks.
mToken
The new version of mToken (4.3 if i am right) has SSH tunneling (SSH port forwarding). You find it at choung networks.

perfect! works like a charm. thanks.
I probably don't understand the question, but I use Orb installed on my home computer to access files, webcam and other media from any other computer. I can listen to mp3's on my phone from anywhere with PIE. It is free.
not that familiar with Orb, but with Tversity (which i use as a media server for all of my pictures/music/video files) there is no way (as far as i know) to prevent someone on the net from port scanning your pc and copying all of your media content from your pc. with tversity, as soon as you open the port on your home router, you media content is available to anyone that is smart enough to find the right port. there is no inherent login/security mechanism in Tversity.
to prevent this,
1- i don't open the standard tversity port (standard implied deny) on my home router.
2- i open a port for ssh on my home router / fwd to my pc's ip.
3- i use an ssh server to enable a login capability on my home pc using that same ssh port.
then from my phone (for example) i can use an ssh client to login to my pc and point PIE to the ssh port / loopback ip.
like i said, works great.
now if someone can tell me how to harden Tversity w/o having to do this, i'd appreciate it!
thanks.
With ORB you create a password to log on to your system. I think it 's a good app, I first found it reccomended here.
i guess we are getting a little OT from this forum... but your right, Orb has more security. I searched for awhile, but can't determine if Orb supports upnp clients like dlink dsm-320 and xbox media center (XBMC), etc.
in addition to using pie on my wm6 and any remote PC to access my media, I have the dlink connected to my bedroom TV wirelessly and the xbox connected to my 60". from either one, i can stream all of my media content from tversity to my TV's. please let me know if Orb can do that cuz i'll switch asap. thx.
I just thought I'd add that you can use openvpn (open source) on your ppc to vpn over a single port just like ssh. Openvpn has alot more features including persistent connections for automatically reconnecting and is extremely secure. It seems very stable to me using it over wifi to connect home. It will even work over a proxy. I use it to enable direct streaming with orb because with the vpn you are essentially on the same network.
putty mobile
i've just checked my putty mobile installation and there is a tunnel-option.
i can't try it cause i'm not in my home network but you can give it a try
One little nugget I found out last night about mToken is that it doesn't work on WM6
A freind has got a cute little Vox (I think) with WM6 and can't use most the software I use This is a major reason NOT to upgrade for me if my software doesn't work
pocket putty works great with the tunnel option. I've looked tv stream over such a tunnel.

Networking software?

So what are some good software that I can use to connect to a computer a browser the files on the computer, watch the videos on it and listen to the music on it. Like xp/vista and osx does. What about software that lets me connect to some ones WMP or itunes play list? Thank you.
so anyone?
u can use Resco or something similar to access the shared files from ur pc and play them with ur fav media player
anyother options?
You could also use a VNC client on your pocketpc and a VNC server on the PC. Have a look at ptVNC http://www.parystec.demon.co.uk/pt_vnc2.htm. There are other solutions as well, just Google around...
Nothing like what you see on the Tilt or the Vouge?
Is there some way to make a Windows Mobile 5 device show up as a shared drive on a network (connected to it thru WiFi)?
WM6
On WM6 there is a Network plugin for file explorer. you can use it to map to a shares on your windows machines.
It's an HTC app so have a look on the CAB apps area.
It's ace!
Also a Domain Enroll app, I haven't tried yet but I'll get a virtual PC up and give it a shot..

Help me - How Can I Use Remote Desktop WM6 RDP

Help me - How Can I Use Remote Desktop WM6 RDP. I Want To Connected To another pc or windows mobile device! how Can i do this. Can i Do this With WM6 RDP?
www.LogMeIn.com
I am a Technical Support Rep for them. Great company. Great service. And it's FREE! You only need to pay if you want file transfer, remote sound, remote printing, etc. but most of those features aren't available when connecting from a PDA anyway. You can connect to a PC or Mac, from any other PC or Mac or Windows Mobile Pocket PC/Professional device with an ARM compatible processor. It's very fast too!

Can Windows Mobile Remote Desktop work over Bluetooth?

Hi there,
I was wondering if Windows Mobile Remote Desktop (with WM6.1) can possibly work over Bluetooth. I have my computer and mobile connected via Bluetooth ActiveSync, and I have my computer configured to allow remote desktop, however, I can't seem to get the two to connect.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks!

highly doubt it, RDP runs on a tcp/ip based network. i dont think that htc phones are capable of that over bluetooth

Yes they are.
remote desktop over bluetooth works fine, i prefer to use realvnc for remote desktop connections though and mocha vnc client software on the PPC , in my opinion its much better than MS remote desktop software
I wish I could figure out why it isn't working then. All the settings seem to be correct. I'll need to try and hunt down a guide somewhere, or I will fiddle and get it working and write one
HI JADEL,
You can use app like BTREMOTE it's a client/server based application allowing you to control most of your apps on the PC.
Try it.

Hi there, I own a HTC TUCH HD, and I want to be able to get remote desktop over bluetooth!
I see you know how to do that, so if you would not mind giving me a short tutorial on what should I do?
thx
it works just fine over bluetooth but not over activesync connection you need to use PAN
when you connect it log out the user disconnecting the activesync connection
thats not the case with bluetooth PAN and wifi
how you set it up is not really a wm question all the setup required is on the pc
and the same setup that you need if using remote desktop from another computer
so google got piles of guides how you turn on remote desktop on the pc and open the ports it require in the firewall
thank you very much for the answer!
