CAB files wont install on hard reset

Ive been playing around with the extended rom, cleaned it all out and left just the MMS cab left in there. Ive now added a few more cabs from off here and also home made. Ive also added these cabs in to the config.txt in the extrom as well. The problem is after a hard reset, i can see the files come up on the install screen, but after its finished they havent installed. The MMS cab works as normal, but to get the others to install i have to manually click on them. Any ideas?

Installing .cab files (New to WM5)

Sorry for this stupid question but this is my third day of having a windows mobile 5 xda (the cingular 8125) and I'm having problems installing .cab files. I started with the "DJVW HTC Wizard Optimizer 2.0.cab". I moved the cab to the root directory of the device, tapped on it, and it went through the progress bar, told me that it had installed, but then when I went to look for the newly installed program, i couldn't find it anywhere. I also tried this with a few games and other apps. What am I doing wrong that it keeps telling me that it installed fine, but I can't find the programs. Thanks for your help in this.

You may have tried but have you used explorer to check if the files have installed under "Programs"? I've often seen cab files install but the shortcuts not get installed though the programs are there. If you find them then connect to your PC and use explore from Activesync, create shortcust and drop them in the windows\start menu folder.

Yeah, I have tried that... I even tried to a search for the files to no avail. Any other ideas? I really appriciate the help.

You've got me stumped. Personally I always drop the cabs on the SD card and install from there thats the only thing I can see different. Maybe it's a problem with dropping it in the root directory - have you tried dropping it under the programs folder and then installing?

correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the wizard optimizer cab just tweak a few settings/registey values? a cab of this nature will not show up in your programs list because it isn't a program, it just changes stuff. this is normal, the same thing happened when i installed some camera tweaking cabs. so the cab has worked fine, done its job, there is nothing else you need to do.

Full manila HD cab keeps loading..??

I used to have the TF3D(With tha panel installer) cab installed on my Xperia and it worked fine.
I decided to give Manila HD cab a shot sence people were saying it was working faster.
I did a hard reset and installed the manila HD cab by itje, installed the panelinstaller but when I choose to start TF3D it keeps loading...
I've searched the forum but I can't find the answear.
I wonder if I'm supposed to install the cabs in a certain order for it to work...
Anyone who can help???

I was told just quit by clicking "panel" key, and re-select this panel. I haven't tried it, so let me know if it works.

I did try that...it didn't work. I did a soft reset as well but no luck...
I installed the Manila HD cab on my storage card by the way. I don't know if that can be the problem because I did the same thing on my TF3D and it worked fine...

Yes,I gotta the same problem and at last it is solved by re-installing the cab in phone rather than card.

why can't i change my diamonds clock ?

i have been trying to change my touchflo clock for the past 2 days with no luck. i disable the plugin and do a soft reset and still no dice ? it doesn't matter if i install a cab or the zip files. can anybody give me some assistance ? ive searched online all day and i can't find a solution, i even reflashed my stock sprint diamond rom.

try disabling TF3D

have you tried installing it to device if you were installing it to internal storage, and visa vera I know a couple apps I downloaded had to be to a certain one

I did NOT make this cab I take no credit for it. Install this cab and this should do the trick.

Help please, after upgrading to Duttys 6.1 v4.3 final..

Hiya,
I have just flashed my htc touch hd, with Duttys 6.1 v4.3 final rom release.
Now I have tried to change the font, taskbar and clock, but after putting the cab files on the storage card, then restarting the device, there is NO change.
Am I able to change and personalise Duttys rom, or am i stuck with the icons he has in the rom..

I used to use a dutty rom and it was possible to change the icons.
What did you do to make the changes?

Once you have put these cab files on your SD card you need to open you file explorer on your HD, navigate to where you put the cab files and then click on each to install them.

Thanks for the replies. I have transferred them from my PC to the storage card, and opened the cab files. Just for some reason, some of the items arent working.
How do I get a weather clock to work. I downloaded one, but it wouldnt install, so just wondering if this rom wont accept them???

Should work on most if not all roms. Have you tried alternative download locations for these apps? What are these apps? It you attach them I can try them out to test. This way we'll know if its your HD or your download app
