P3450 shuts down - Touch GSM General

My Htc shuts down intermittently.
The only solution to power-on is to remove the battery and place it back. It boots, works for 2-3 minutes and then it just freezes. Sometimes stays like this, with the lcd on, or just shuts down.
What can I do? I read on a forum(don't remember the forum, it was some time ago) that it can be a problem from the factory, and a small piece of plastic placed on the processor can fix this.
I must specify that this problem comes after i dropped my device, so the factory problem...i don't know...just don't wanna know that I'm responsible for this.
Have a good day.

yup, that plastic thing can be a problem, but there is another thing you can try, in your back battery compartment, add some tissue on the top of the battery (to prevent the battery from falling off), and close it with the htc cover.

i am experiencing a serious problem with my o2 mini pocket pc..
i goes off on its own, at any time.....

can anybody suggest a solution.....
Alien life forms?
It might be helpful if you tell us how your system is configured, software you're running, time of day it appears to happen, any odd messages etc.

By going off do you mean that the unit goes dead causing a soft reset when powered up, or is it just that the screen shut's off?
I have encountered a very similar problem. The unit goes dead sometimes. (As if you would discharge both batteries totally) And then after a time (a few sec, or a whole day) it can be turned on again, as if i would have performed a hard reset. Any ideas?
When the unit is facing down, on the lower right side there is a small switch which is supposed to be toggled with the battery cover's tab when mounted. Most probably, this tab in the battery cover is no longer good causing the switch's lever to toggle to the off position due to movement.
Yeah. I know about the little switch, but It didn't even crossed my mind, that it's because of that. But why did the hard reset happened?
When this switch is off, with or without the battery, then it is like the main battery is not in and the backup battery discharges quickly causing a hard reset.

Anybody else had this?

Pushed the power button this morning and no response, thought the battery had run right down, so plugged it in and it booted to the dell screen then froze, removed battery and replaced it, booted no problems at all, still 60% battery left
Once, I think it's because the device has flexed or got jolted at some point and the backplate contacts have come apart briefly. The only way to get it to switch on was to remove the battery and refit it.
I've had this too, but not after a jolt or flex - noticed it after waking up on a morning - Streak had been on bedside table with good charge.
I've had this maybe twice since having the device.
edit to add:
The only difference is my device did not freeze on boot.
yep - every time i power it down and leave it for a bit, it will only fire up again if I take the back off, pop the battery out and put it back in.
The LEDs come on, but it goes no further unless I do the above. Annoying but I can live with it for now (not sure what the wear and tear issues could be over the life of the device tho?)
did it on 1.6, still does it on O2 2.1
That's what's i was thinking, that stupid backplate! it may have moved 1mm and caused error
I posted a comment once about supergluing the fu%$er, might try myself.
Yep, sadly had the same problem. The worse thing is it did this the first time I turned it on. Done the same thing again this morning after simply switching it off.
Hopefully it won't be annoying or we will learn how to avoid it - backplate seems to cause the problem but I didn't even drop it or mishandle it in anyway - just merely switched it off and on again...
If the backplate is the problem, I can see it becoming a real issue, mine is definitely a looser fit than it was a month ago.
This just happened to me this morning. I went to bed around 2am with 90% charge and woke up 8am off on totally drained. The phone was lying on the carpeted floor with no movement. Powered back up and on with icons all messed up.
had this couple of times day, not the first by a long shot. its the back plate for sure. it flexes just a tiny bit and thats enough to make it shut down. pretty shoddy design
I really don't see how it could be the cover. Second day in a row I went from full charge to dead when I woke. It was on the floor the whole time and never touched. Then I charged it and the screen would not respond. So I hit power and then it would not come on again until I pulled the battery. Now, I'm just going to try powering down every night. If it's dead I just leave it at home for the day.....such a waste.

Advice for water damaged note 3

I recently got my note 3 wet (clean-ish lake water) and immediately got the battery out and the phone dissasembled and into a bag of rice.
after a few days I reassembled it and booted it up and I can hear the startup sounds, feel the vibrations from power up, reboot & charge and I also can hear all of my notifications including ringing calls.
The problem is I cannot get the screen to turn on*.
What happens is the back button and menu button led's light up at the bottom and the screen sometimes flickers. I have got the screen to turn on though really rarely (playing with it and removing/readding the battery, rebooting etc..) and when I DO get it to turn on all functions work perfectly as if the phone was never damaged.
My question is, what components can I take a closer look at that would cause this behaviour? I would say that the screen is kaput but when it turns on everything works....
I am asking here as my google fu has not dredged up anyone with this specific problem before.
I have cleaned what appears to be corrosion or water spots on the larger copper traces on the mainboard with 99% iso and dried then reassembled but no change in behaviour (it did turn on once after I did this and work).
I tried a new OEM battery, no change.
Any and all advice is appreciated and yes I will order a waterproof quality case if I can get it working again

You acted perfectly after getting the phone wet, so congratulations. But unfortunately, screen failures are fairly common in phone-wetting scenarios.
What you can do is try keeping the phone a couple of days more in silica gel bags/rice to see if there still is moisture in the screen assembly. If nothing changes, all you can do is replace the whole screen assembly.

Can the screen be submerged in isopropyl 99% to displace any water or will that damage it?

Alcohol should be harmless. Go for it, you have nothing to lose.
I think you should put your phone in sun light for 40 minute without battery. after that let you phone cool. then Try to boot.If not work then open that back part then try again for more 30 minutes. I think it will help you.
in my case it works on samsung galaxy s.
God bless you & your phone.

Phone Shocks ?

Hello ,
My issue is that if I hit the screen or the back of my phone (also if I drop it a bit hard on my desk) , the phone is like frozen and I have to take off battery and after restart phone is working again . Maybe my screen is somehow cracked from inside and I have to replace it or there is another issue ?
Have you heard that issue before ?
It's not recommended to hit or drop your phone
But maybe the battery isn't secure, or the SIM, and the sudden knock is disconnecting one of them for a split second, causing the freeze
My advice, don't hit it, and don't drop it
Most likely the battery, or at least I've suffered similar issues before like this, and I padded the battery with a couple of strips of duck tape to make it a tighter fit, so knocks wouldn't disconnect the battery. That or lose part or ribbon cable... That's more tricky though.

Beeping issues, won't turn on.

I've have had the phone for 2 years and it had been working fine until last summer, where I had accidentally left it in my trunks pocket when I went out swimming, It had to be underwater for like 10 minutes or so before I realized it, thankfully, we were on holiday in Turkey at the time so I could leave the phone (without a lid or battery) on the balcony for days to dry. And eventually, it worked! But that came with a few issues.
1. The phone would shut off randomly.
2. Had to charge the phone to power it on.
3. The camera had a few dark spots where water got in.
4. When the phone was powered off it would constantly start beeping, the same beep you hear when I power it on.
5. Speakers are weak.
Nowadays, I am pretty sure all the water is out of the phone, and I am only having these issues now.
1. The camera had dark spots.
2. Speakers are weak.
But yesterday, things were getting weird, when I closed the phone (close the phone, not power it off), and I try to open it again, it would not open and would randomly make a beep sound, then the buttons on the bottom would light up, the only thing I can do to make it normal was removing the battery, when I did that I tried putting the battery back in, and it is back to making those beeping sounds I mentioned on point 4. So I tried charging the phone to power it on, and it still didn't do anything! I found the only way to power the phone on was charging it without the battery then waiting like an hour for the 'charging' sign to come up allowing me to power the phone and insert the battery back in. But it still won't open when the phone is closed (again, closed, not powered off).
What should I do?
Water got in. Deep. And the fact that it was not disassembled and let to dry made it worse. Water could have still been inside. And the fact that you still used it didn't help either. Time for a new device.

The thing is, everything works, It's just the hard procedure of powering it on. But yeah, I might as well leave it on forever with certain apps until its time is up. FPBP to you sir.
You could certainly replace the speakers and camera, but I for one have no idea what the heck is happening with the weird sleep issue (yes, closing the phone=putting your pc into sleep or hibernate). I say it could be a power button failure, but if you could order a new frame off of ebay and replace it, see if the issue is still here. And that's not a beep, that's a tune you hear when the phone powers on. Or the vibration? Please clarify.
