AT&T PURE build quality - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

For those of you that hae the PURE or have looked at (touched/played with) the PURE I was wondering what you all think of the build quality.
I walked into a AT&T store and they didn't have any on display so I asked if they had any I could look at to compare to my TD2 and they pulled one out of the box.
The phone looked nice and everything. Same size as my Topaz, a lttile lighter, and plasticky.
Do any of you feel that it feels cheap? Compared to my original Diamond2 it felt wrong. The shape and all was good just the quality and material. In all honesty I was happy the US got a decent phone but I was dissapointed @ HTC for building such a cheap quality device. I guess it would make sense to build it cheaper so it would sell for less due to material cost but man was it a dissapointment.
Thoughts please.

I never held the D2 but my Pure is very solid. Sure it's all plastic but I'm yet to hear it creaking.

Got mine in the mail today, and so far it feels solid. The USB port cover feels a little flimsy, but that's been the case with every phone I've owned, and I haven't had one break off yet. I'm quite happy with it so far.

So anyone knows the PURE equals to? Is it a Topaz?

I own a D2 and i didn't held a Pure yet but Pure looks a bit like Blackstone. Black, oval, plastic. D2 looks very nice BUT of course they're both same devices.

it look just like the t mobile version of TD2 to me

Yes that is the T-mo UK MDA Compact V (TD2) I have US T-Mo with an unlocked D2. The original styling. Compared it doesn't feel the same. Mebe I should have asked Compact V owners the Q since they would more likely have experiance with both versions since it is readily available almost everywhere in EU.

HTC's hipsteriffic invitations for a June 24th event in London contained precious few clues (DUDE'S WEARING A ROSE), but the Economic Daily News is now reporting something totally reasonable: it's for the Hero and Lancaster, HTC's presumed next Android phones.
Curiously, the paper refers to the two phones as one device, in two versions differentiated only by a keyboard.
The HTC Hero will be available in two versions, with and without a QWERTY keyboard. The model with a keyboard will be named HTC Memphis, or HTC Lancaster for sale by AT&T exclusively in the US for six months starting the third quarter, the paper indicated.
It certainly looks like there'll be a bit more than that to set the devices apart, and for the sake of variety, I hope there is. In any case, we'll be there. [Economic Daily News via Digitimes]

Looks like we won't be getting the Hero, or we have to wait until after the 6 months AT&T has it exclusively?
that phone is UGLY!! the mytouch 3g or what ever their calling it . looks way better
The version without the keyboard will probably be Hero, since the Lancaster is the one for AT&T.

how about this one?
http://ow.ly/b3EG
Anyone noticed that at least the Lancaster version has only a 240x320 display?
If this is also true for the HTC Hero version, it would be a clear disadvantage.

Unfortunately I would totally agree on that. Was thinking that it could be a potential replacement of my Fuze, not so much now... How did they manage to make a pretty decent looking phone ugly how...
i suppose i won't pass judgement until i see it in person...but eh i can't get a new phone yet anways so ....moot point
we just added a few new photos and more details...like no 3.5 jack, talk time worse than the Fuze and a possible launch date before super Tuesday

Isn't the next "super Tuesday" in something like February 2012? When exactly are you referring to?

The super Tuesday being refered to is next Tuesday because that is the day Microsoft said it was releasing Windows Mobile 6.5 along with several carriers announcing availability of WM 6.5 phones. It is the official launch date for WM 6.5 basically.
if you walk into a store today you can buy one - 100%. Just ask nice and act innocent.
you should be able to get it today in NY at least. I played with the floor model for a bit. its not as ugly in person. its not ugly at all in person. it does look horrible on the box art though.
Apart from the AT&T branding, this is identical to the t-mobile Compact V..... the case, the silver inlay on the back, earpiece, ..... all the same.
Only thing I can't see is if it has the mini-usb cover on the bottom but I guess it has.
John
Yes, it's the same as T-Mobile MDA Compact V except logos on front cover.
Ok I have to ask, why do these carriers change the phones? I'm not just talking about the TD2. I prefer the original versions, not to mention the carrier branding, ugh.
Maybe
Perhaps its ugly, perhaps its got no headphone jack... Regardless, I'm probably buying one of these later today or sometime this week for analysis/experimentation It will be nice to have a phone smaller than my fuze tho... it is kind of thick (And yes, I'm aware its thinner because of the lack of keyboard). Ill post back here when i get it, and post whether or not its as bad as everyone thinks.

If the Evo and the Nexus mated!

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010...=Feed:+TheBoyGeniusReport+(Boy+Genius+Report)
BGR has published a picture of an upcoming HTC device destined for verizon. From the leaked specs it sounds like a real high end device. Anyone have more speculation on this device? Could be the first real device that tempts me away from my nexus. So far all the latest devices have not sold me on build quality, looks, and feel. This thing looks like the nexus taken to the next level!
Of course this is BGR so it is put up next to an iphail.

What the hell is that nasty ass iphone doing next to that beautiful device?
GRRRRR, I hate BGR so much.
Anyway, looks like an Evo for Verizon, nothing more.
All these devices are looking good, but personally I won't be upgrading until the next line of processors come out (1.5 GHz etc). No reason to switch to another phone if it has the same amount of power. That'd be a sidegrade.

that's the same sentiment that i feel, with the unknown time frame of Verizon's android releases, who's to say this thing wont be coming with the latest and greatest processor? In all reality it probably is just the Verizon version of the Evo, it sure looks a lot nicer than its sprint branded potential relative.
In any case, its the first new handset i have seen that actually physically looks on par or better than the nexus.

htc glacier is on my wishlist, what with a possible dual core, hellz yeah
What happened to the HTC Ace or Desire HD, a GSM Evo.
Unless its revolutionary in terms of processor,GPU etc, then im not too hopeful on leaving my N1.
Damn good looking, though. More of a comparison of a Desire and Evo mating IMO.

HTC HD7 or Schubert has been previously known as HD3 and whatnot and it looks exactly how we saw it on the live shots three weeks ago. The device has a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen and packs 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 576MB RAM, 5 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and 720p video recording, all-round connectivity and 8GB internal storage. The T-Mobile version of HD7 is expected to double the on-board memory to 16GB.
Looks like the T-mobile USA version will be blessed with 16GB storage vs 8GB for the euorpean one
I can hardly wait. This year alone I have replaced my HD2 with the vibrant now soon it will be replaced by the HD7
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
In my opinion, the HD2 looks significantly better then this!!
What's so incredible about it ? It's still the same case basically ..

Agreed! I don't like the silver on the back, the HD2s dark colours look much more elegant.
not being biased, i also think that hd2 looks sexier than that.
also, what is up with all these brand logos?

Yeah it does ruin the look of the phone, it isn't like windows mobile is growing in the market to boost the name at the back of the phone, just saying.
Specs sound like the HD2... But I like the camera not protruding on the HD7 like it is on the HD2. Also looks like there is a kickstand which is good, otherwise like I said specs sound the same so with the confidence that the HD2 will be running wp7 at some point, no need to upgrade. If anything I could go for a G2 right about now.
Not interested
It's nice, but it's matched by the HD2 in every area it seems, and the branding looks very Primary School...
I want it just because its named Schubert.......
Not keen on all the spare parts from robocop around the camera though.........
maybe Ill just wait for the HTC Strauss........

Wow
im in love,,, i WANT IT, I NEED IT!!!
*****, MONEY, NEXUS S
is gonna be my life style now..
Wow. All I can say. I hope this is good...
Front facing camera, nice
I hope there are some capacitative buttons at the bottom, love those on my N1.
Hmmmm....Back cover seems to be plastic like the Galaxy S. So build quality is **** compared to the N1/Desire. Hope it has a few surprises to make up for that.
hmm, looks cheap vs. N1, too glossy and plastic imo
Nexus One looks better.
Spec wise this is better though.
Finally something we can wait for My next phone for sure
Looks cheap n nasty
too much plastic

Most likely Vibrant with Gingerbread and flash?
I will NOT be getting this. I am absolutely disappointed that the next nexus is a effin samsung. I just hope htc will release another true nexus in the future. Until then ill stick with the n1 which looks better than that POS
I'm in the market for a new phone (n1 has a broken screen)... this is tempting for sure. Waiting to hear more about specs and if we are going to see one on AT&T bands..
Am I right in thinking that the Tmobile US bands are the same as a majoritory of the UK bands?
HTC probably said : lol we're not dealing with more unlocked bootloader replacements.
Superamoled + better multitouch isnt enough for me to give up my N1. Solid build and design trump both of those features for me.
