Hi,
I recently noticed the newest HTC devices, like the HTC Touch Pro 2 and the Diamond 2 support AVI. Do these devices contain an avi plugin for the standard windows media player or do these devices have Coreplayer pre-installed?
If they contain an avi plugin, would it be possible to port this to the HTC touch HD? I prefer to use windows media player instead, as it is accelerated.
Thanx

Hi in an earlier thread is was mentioned that the only movie players that use the graphic acceleration in the HD are the Windows Media player and the touch flo 3d movie player.
My question is where is the TF3D movie player located? Thanks...
Samsung creates a basic player with good sound but decides not to let it play wma files. Is there is any way around it other than installing a new player. The WM player is ordinary (as usual)
no, because touch player is a directshow based player, and windows mobile doesnt come packaged with a wmv directshow filter. windows media player decodes wmv internally and not through a directshow filter.
Hello,
What player do you suggest me to use? I used TCPMP with plugins but it is very slow, movies got 'lags' very often. Is there any other application to do it?
I have HTC HD with Windows Mobile 6.5.

tried lowering the res of the media?
Dear All,
I am using HTC HD2, but if I use High quality MP4 videos(downloaded to memory) it is not working in Core player, Windows media player, TCPMP etc and the error shows "Video codec (AVC aka H.264) not supported by the player! (0109). Kindly give me a solution for the same.

Have you tried any other media formats?
Have you tried playing them on another device like your PC?
hi all, I tried to play a 720p avi movie on windows 8 today but there was no sound. I booted back to windows 7 and tried again and the sound works.
I would like to make it work on windows 8. does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
Thanks everyone!
The magic word here is "codecs". Haven't used Windows 8 myself but I am pretty sure you need an AC3 or DTS codec depending on the movie you are trying to watch. It also depends on which player you are trying to watch the movie with. Try using Media Player Classic - Home Cinema Edition which has all the codecs needed to watch HD material. If, however, you don't want to change players, then install ffdshow or ac3filter. These codecs will work with any Directshow player.
Codecs would be one issue. What software are you using to play the film?
it may be only a codec issue, i just tested some Avi movies i have and i found some had sound and some dont.
But like in Win7, in this Dev Preview I installed my regular player PotPlayer.
and you wouldn't have any trouble since it has codecs included.
of course other player may do the job.
but you can get Potplayer english version from here:

vlc will play most of the hd movies. And yoiu might not need codecs
Thanks for everyones help. I just installed ac3 codec and sound is working perfectly in windows media player.
