Hey, so im visiting overseas now (israel), with my htc ozone (ookba's rom), and the most annoying thing is happening: For some reason, incoming calls show up without the country code (05x-xxx-xxxx) while incoming texts come in with the country code (+972-5x-xxx-xxxx), and the way the phone is set up, it doesnt realize that the two numbers are the same person. That means that either I have to save the numbers sans country code in order to know whose calling me, or add the country code in order to see whose texting me.
There has to be a way to fix this, to have the contact manager either compensate for country codes. Does anyone know how?

need to dial international and domestic call frequently. however, unlike handspring treo, xda did not allow to recall the phone number from contact and then manually add the prefix, e.g. 00986 + city code + number... etc. Any suggestion here?

Yes. It'll take some time, but it'll solve your problem for once and all: change all your stored numbers to international format, e.g. +49 (89) 555255 for a number in Munich, Germany. Numbers in this format will work from everywhere in the world (the '+' does the magic here), and of course also from the country or town the called party is in.
It's probably much easier to do this in Outlook, then synchronise the numbers back to your XDA.
Cheers

tks for your advice. however, in hong kong, we have many IDD service providers while if using "+", it will choose the most expensive service provider which i don't want to. well... i am always travelling around between hong kong and china and i have to add both local dial prefix and IDD dial prefix for each tel number, both office, mobile and home. you know, this is really really annoying and time wasting. hope there will be some temporary solutions here including some charged software solution.
Did somebody know how to disable functionality in Phone mode that is sending Your Phone number ID, to the call receiver?....or in other words...is it possible make anonimous phone calls?..
tnx
There are 2 ways. Ask your provider to permanently switch off caller id or go to Start - Settings - Personal - Phone - Services - Caller ID - Get Settings - No one

Of course, you realize that the Cell Phone company still knows you made the call, and whom you called? So it is anonymous only to the receiving party, not in any permanent sense.
Yeah, we should fix that too ! No more bills (Big OR small)
should be interesting in fact....aha....thanks to ZERIMAR... i was able to redefine the settings avoiding to send ID nr. to my frends......
Didn't the GSM network have anoption never to show Call-ID, unless you put some code in front of the tel.number ?
Or was it the other way around ?
Instead of permanently disable Call ID forwarding through Phone->Settings as suggested, in Italy we have also a code you can put before the number you're calling that disable the ID just for that call. The code is *06#. Maybe other countries are using the same code too, don't know.
Isidoro
Yea it is but if i want t permanently hidden , i should redefine all numbers in phone memory adding this code in front...and then if somebody is calling me, ID is not going to be linked to the number in phone memory......better set up everything in the the phone functions directly....
There is one issue I still can't figure out.
I have all my contacts saved with the corresponding country codes i.e. +966xxxxxxxxxx. When I am in the home country the numbers show up fine when someone is calling me. However when I have number saved on my contacts from a different country i.e.+961xxxxxxx and I am visiting that country, the HD2 doesn't recognize that number as the country codes are removed when I receive a local call.
If someone is trying to call me from my home country while I am roaming, the contacts show up fine.
(This is where I exactly miss my Nokia, never had this problem with any model I used before.)
Now, is this a issue with WiMo or HD2 itself? I have tried all kinds of combination with adding the prefix and country code in the Settings.
Do you have any idea or do I just have to live with this?
Hello guys!!!!
I have an HTC HERO that i bought in U.S.
My contacts are with carrier code + area code + number, so its like this: 041(carrier)11(area code)55555555(number). So i can call them when i am in roaming without adding the codes.
But, when i receive a sms from a person, it does not show the name of the person, it only shows the number of the person.(example: instead of Paul wich phone number is stored as 0411199999999 it shows 01199999999)(note that it shows 0 + area code + number)
The same way when i´m in roaming and receive a call.
How to fix that?
Other question is: I bought it from Amazon in U.S, so, my phone is U.S or Asian? When in first turned on, it showed me to select 3 languages(Singapore English, Chinese and another that i remember)
ps: I live in Brazil.
Thanks,
Sérgio Paulo
hi Android Community,
i am just about to reorganize my phonebook, i have used different methods of saving numbers to my phonebook e.g. for germany 004996122222 for person xyz, 0049 stands for country code 961 stands for area code and 22222 stands for the landline, usually Android displays incoming calls like this area code "space" and landline number, it also displays the city where the area code belongs too e.g. waidhaus which is near my hometown.
i still have misc problems the way android formats these numbers. still no problems calling contacts, but one issue was when i type the phone number manually android only suggests me the phone number of one specific person i have in my phonebook either i type in this persons phone number or another persons phone number (manually!!) this is way of wrong.
it displays me this persons name either it is this persons number or any other. i have had this bug years ago with my first htc desire still preserving; it started when beginning saving phone numbers the lol way e.g. 004996122222 where it was not necessary to save it this way unless you are in holidays abroad
due to different formatting of phone numbers from persons around the globe because of the int code &the different way of handling of the leading zero according the country you call to i still have issues, i know there is a way you can edit phone nr in google contacts (gmail) so that it can be updated with next sync. but that did not helped me, still issues from what i have written above
is there a app available that removes this bug of only displaying this one persons contact either i type in his number or anyone else, i think it is because of googles data collection rage and/or my sold htc desirewhich may have had a bug in htc sense and the availability of updates for this device (now i have sgs3 and cm whatever version i dont know and have no issues atm)
or maybe it was because of my mistake setting the phone number the proper way, i think there is no wrong in setting the phone number the way +1NewYorkCityAreaCodeBureauofPersonXYZ but i did probably made a mistake in doing this way making it difficult to reorganize my phonebook.
the problem with this has nothing to do with outgoing calls as there are no problems when typing 004996122222 it always works well (destination germany either i am in germany or abroad), but when a incoming call comes from a saved contact i suggest that it would properly display the orign of the call (only as it is with landline numbers either it is within a country or abroad but no mobile numbers as there are limitations to this),
i wonder if anybody can tell me if there is a builtin library in Android that handles this task i would appreciate your answers to this topic even if i could have written a book on this topic,
wishing you can be indulgent too on my write rage even if it could be explained a smarter way, if you have questions feel free to ask.
