Did somebody know how to disable functionality in Phone mode that is sending Your Phone number ID, to the call receiver?....or in other words...is it possible make anonimous phone calls?..
tnx
There are 2 ways. Ask your provider to permanently switch off caller id or go to Start - Settings - Personal - Phone - Services - Caller ID - Get Settings - No one

Of course, you realize that the Cell Phone company still knows you made the call, and whom you called? So it is anonymous only to the receiving party, not in any permanent sense.
Yeah, we should fix that too ! No more bills (Big OR small)
should be interesting in fact....aha....thanks to ZERIMAR... i was able to redefine the settings avoiding to send ID nr. to my frends......
Didn't the GSM network have anoption never to show Call-ID, unless you put some code in front of the tel.number ?
Or was it the other way around ?
Instead of permanently disable Call ID forwarding through Phone->Settings as suggested, in Italy we have also a code you can put before the number you're calling that disable the ID just for that call. The code is *06#. Maybe other countries are using the same code too, don't know.
Isidoro
Yea it is but if i want t permanently hidden , i should redefine all numbers in phone memory adding this code in front...and then if somebody is calling me, ID is not going to be linked to the number in phone memory......better set up everything in the the phone functions directly....

I am sure you used to be able to do it on the universal but now it seems I cant !!! does anyone know how !!!
I doubt you can send them, but you can enable tones in the phone control panel (I think it's there, but somewhere near there).
That just makes the phone keypad beep lyrical.
V
my old nokias can do it and so can my GF's samsung D500 !! a very useful option when using 3rd party dialers, I dont understand why this phone cant do it !!!
I always use this feature to send over the calling card PIN number and the destination number so even though I make an international call using phone card I do not need to puch the PIN etc manually. Just record the number into the contacts and use some delays. It works.

I know what you mean but that means I need to change all the international numbers stored in my phone, it would be easier if I could just call the number and then choose the number out of my contacts and send tones !!!
i have the same issue. i use an international caller to dial out to america and on my nokia i would just send the tones of the numbers i wanted to dial. now i have to write them down so i can punch them back into the xda. shame
Assuming I understand your problem correctly, it sounds like the problem is with your calling card provider and not your phone. The Universal, like any other phone, ought to send DTMF tones through in-band audio -- pretty standard stuff. I've tested this with my calling card provider and I'm able to put in my PIN code through DTMF without any problem.
I think that what these guys are describing is the ability, whilst on a call, to say "Send DTMF" and then choose a number from your contacts. This way, you can store your calling card number in one phonebook entry and all your other contacts as normal, then you choose the calling card to dial and then "send" the number for the other contact. However, you usually need to append a "#" with these services and the number needs the international prefix (so USA becomes "001" instead of "+1"). I generally just store two numbers against each name - one normal and one with integrated calling card.
I don't think anyone is saying that they can't manually key in the number mid-call.
That's exactly right, Melty.
Hi all,
In all of my previous Nokia phones (6600 and N90), there is a feature within the phone to disable sending MY phone number when I call someone. THus, the when I call, the receiver party will see "no number" or something like that.
However, I don't see this feature in the MDA. Is this possible with the MDA?
Start > Settings > Phone then the Services tab.
Select Caller ID and it will (should) open a screen asking if you want to provide Caller ID to Everyone or No one.
Chris
Sending your caller ID is generally a setting of your provider.
If you want to suppress your caller ID for the next call try the following:
#31#phonenumber
This works for all german provider, i'm not sure if this combination works globally.
hope this helps
In my old Hermes (Cingular 8525), there is an option in the Phone Settings to hide my caller ID, so that when I call someone they will not see my number on their phone.
However, with my Mogul, I don't see that option. Does anyone know how can I do this?
I miss this feature on the mogul too. But you can type *67 and the number for example the number is 18001234567 type *6718001234567
P.S. if you find a patch to do this from a menu I would love to hear about it.
Thanks for the info. But that means I can't use my "Phonebook" to dial, as I have to manually enter *67 and then the number.
Maybe some of our resident hacker can figure it out?
Do you just want to permanently hide your number from everyone you call? If so, you should be able to ask your carrier to add a "No Caller Id" code to your account...
you could edit the phonebook entry or make an aditional one that is blocked and call it their "other" number or fax or something
Hi all,
Thanks for the suggestions. I don't want to permanently block my caller ID, only for select number. I prefer to be able to change the caller ID feature on the fly without editing the phonebook, but I guess I'll have to do so until Sprint implement this feature.
Hi
I'm with Bell Canada and we have a option on their web to block caller ID. I selected this option and in my contacts I added *83 to the number I want to unblock my ID. So if I dial a new number I know that my block caller ID is on.
Hey guys, dont know why but when i go to Settings/Phone/Services/Caller ID/Get Settings, its on NO ONE, but yet people still see my number, when i try to change to Contacts Only, and than OK, when i come back to the screen its back on NO ONE, but yet again still phone number comes up. I need to disable this ASAP! i cant have people seeing my number for work purposes becuase i call alot of clients and dont want my number exposed like that
bumpppp ????
I don know about your country's telco. But then as for my country, Call ID display is dependent on the subscriber services. We will have to subscribe to Caller ID no display in order not to show our mobile no to the receiving party.
So to me the caller ID in the settings does not applicable to me.
well im on Tmobile in USA, and i was always able to switch it, but i dont know what i did or installed, but its not working anymore
I thought this was an operator setting?
Is there a way, other than adding *31# infront of the stored number, to enable caller ID per contact in my 'people' tab?
My number is blocked by default (and I'd like to keep it that way for a variety of reasons) but would like to enable the ID when calling my wife and select other people. The workaround so far has been to add the code above infront of the number but then it seems SMS messages are not going thru which is less than ideal (I could add a separate number entry for messages I guess, but still).
Having looked at the Phone settings it seems I'm able to select "Contacts only" which in my mind (as a dev) means someone has already written a app (or simply extended the current Contact app) to allow for this on a per-contact basis.
Any ideas?
You can try this MagiCall
http://www.mobiion.com/
I was also looking for this.
The MagiCall features don't mention the option to set caller id per contact.
@emigrating: Did you fix it another way?
Anyone else knows a good solution?
+1 same interrest same issue.
But as time goes on you can use the following workaround: or let's say this is the way I manage it......
If you use the traditional SMS Mode and hit reply sms goes through.
This doesn't work as mentioned in Konversation Mode.
It's uncomfortable because the konversation mode is the better client...but the only way you can send sms to someone stored as *31# contact.
It seems as if the konversation mode always refers to the number stored in your contact, whereas the traditional mode refers to the number which comes with the sms.
I hope someone can fix this, or has a better workaround, I'll be interested to!!!

use MagiCall. Set up a rule: for your wife's phone #, prepend *31#, then dial.
I use it for long distance calls. For all phone # not in my home area code, prepend 1511 (chaper long distance call provider), then dial. A small problem with this: need to disable this rule when roaming in another country.
Give it a try, it is good.
I've downloaded the trial version and set up a rule for Outlook categories, just to test. Change the dialed number to #31#{phone}. When I call someone in the particular category, the MagiCall icon appears in the topbar and my device freezes....
No big problem, I restarted my device to try again.
The same thing happens. Again I take out the battery and restart the phone.
At that point the device became terrible slow somehow.
With a little patience I succeeded uninstalling the app.
Restarting again.
Fortunately, my phome is normal speed again.
Sorry, I'm not a big fan of MagiCall at this moment...
----
Edit: Just trying again, because I can't find a real alternative.
The problem seems to occur when I choose Outlook Category as filter.
Just bad luck for me by choosing that option for my first try.
The program seems to respond on other conditions.
It could be my phone only, otherwise maybe I will contact Mobiion about this..
Edit2: The problem was known and was fixed in a newer version.
So it seems to work after all
