As you can read on MS website
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/6-1/default.mspx
Today microsoft has launched Windows mobile 6.1
i also read this news on an italian portal (pockepcitalia) but theu say that HTC will release the update only for the TYTN II....
but why?
So the best feature IMO the sliding panel, is missing from the touch screen version of WM 6.1 nice
Well that link is for smartphone anyways,
but yes, pda 6.1 isn't that much of an upgrade, while smartphone version is.
that's my opinion, too
WM6.1 on PDAs is not more than a facelift.

A very light facelift!
well, actually not only a facelift.
I enjoy very much the zoom out in PIE and also the new chat like view of the SMS
And the embedded task manager too

No, WM6.1 more faster then WM6.0
And more stability.
@Henry_Lee
Do you know that for sure or do you assume that only?

I test WM6.0 original ROM and WM6.1
And I tried it also at HTC P3450. The same results.

I take this with a grain of salt. The OS always seems faster when re-loaded for the first time.

You think? But.... One week it is "first time" or not?

Yep...still too soon. I have done my share of OS upgrading too. Use it for a month or more then compare that device with a WM 6.0 device side by side.

You may be right on this. I also realized, that WM6.1 seems to have
optimized kernel and so be faster in response. So i confirm, that WM6.1
also in my opinion is "better" than WM6.0. My former statement of the
facelift was regarding to the optical appearance of WM6.1 on PDA devices
in comparison to the optical improvements of the Smartphone version.
Hope that made it clear
Olioaglio
As you can see there aren't that many updates from 6.0 to 6.1. But everything can run faster and better. (Hope so)

Good point....
I rebooted my Orbit2 about one time per week.
I think 1-2 day enoght for stability of all cashes and good time for testing.

It's not even sure if HTC will release a WM6.1 upgrade for the Touch Cruise.
Being patient is all what you can do, or use a custom rom
when I have qtek was very simple on official site was everything rom's e.t.c. but for htc e-club zero....
is this possible yet or is it too new?
if so has anyone given it a shot?

Ookba I love you. Your Windows Mobile 6.5 rom for the Dash is incredible... You should get a Touch Pro 2 and make the first ROM for it too!
Or is that only in my dreams
(By the way sorry SNAP fans, but I'm going to invest in a Touch Pro 2)

Sticking to Smartphones for now... PPC is a whole new world. We're almost done building a JumpSPL for the Dash3G so stay tuned.
Just got my Dash 3G..can't wait for the 6.5 ROM
I want to get a Dash3G, simply because it's visually more attractive than the Snap. Anyone know if the Dash3G has been unlocked yet?

Yea, I got mine unlocked within minutes online. Just Google "Dash 3G sim unlock". Using it with AT&T, works great.
I think I'm gonna piss myself! I love my Dash 3G, but would love it more with a custom rom!!!!

What I miss the most from stock ROM is keyboard shortcut remappings.. e.g. task manager, etc.

Hey, ookba,
I so on photos some diferences between HTC Snap (Snap S521) and HTC Dash 3G. I mean at the keyboard.
For which one do you cooking the ROM now?
Im thinking about getting thehd but im not a fan of the winmo6.5 only because of honeycomb menu layout ...its just some ugly & disorganized. Ive downgraded from 6.5 back to 6.1 on my tp2 but I was wondering if would I be able to do the same for my hd2 even tho there is no official 6.1 rom for it that im aware of???
you know you can disable honeycomb and if you install quickmenu you'll have an even better start menu.
are you on day-release?! 6.1 was ****e!
and to be fair, 6.5 aint much better! and then they give a glympse of 7 which looks more of a mess.
From what i can see, 7 has been designed for under 5's to use...
2 more years and windows will be no more on phones!

What system do you use on PC?
XP? Why not Vista?
This is the same issue.
6.1 is awful, truly. As someone else suggested, just disable the honeycomb menu and install quick menu.

This post shows that you do NOT know anything about the business and are leaded by your own taste. You really need to get a sight for a bit more than "just your dishes".
Sorry but i can hardly remember when i read such a bull**** on these forums...
I just went to the htc uk website and saw that they have released a rom upgrade for O2 users of the phone called 1.72.
Anyone knows if that rom contains WIndows Mobile 6.5.3?
Sure......

No, thank Goodness!
nice/fast/stable
It's running nice/fast/stable on my gf's hd2, but it looks a bit dated once you've tried some of the 6.5.3 roms. Are Microsoft not releasing 6.5.3 to HTC or something? It's really strange that they don't seem to want to promote advances in the OS when android and the like are getting over the air updates to their phones. Little things like the documents tab and the eReader tab from 6.5.3 (plus the fact it's just that little bit more finger friendly) make it all a bit more exciting to show off.
Gotta love my HD2 though Is it true you can't even change the background picture on an iPhone?

nothing to do with microsoft or winmo, that's sense.you can have them tabs on 6.5 if you cook them in.
anyone have issues signing into google maps v4.1? since upgrading ROM i can't sign in, even from the default version on the ROM,version 3.2.1. i can sign into my google account online ok. something is wrong with google maps i believe. any help would be appreciated.
Does anyone know what .net framework is embedded in this ROM?
its cool managed to get .net 3.5 installed again, had to uninstall windows mobile device centre and went into program features and it was there to be reinstalled. All good!
updated to this ROM which is now manika 2012, but the home/today screen won't rotate, i thought it should with this version of manila, or is it a feature of never/custom roms?

I believe this is in custom roms only at the mo.
The HD2 should have been fully landscape supported from the start tbh.

Hey, you know what? I think I would really prefer it with 6.5 installed.
At least it would a lot easier to sync.
Just my 2 bits. Can't wait til android is available so I can scrap wp7!
