My guess would be no. When you buy a computer you also pay for your copy of Windows. Microsoft gets paid for that.
Now much like computers, if your phone is recent enough (like the Touch Pro 2) you might see the manufacturers offer the upgrade. Kinda like get a computer with Windows Vista, get the Windows 7 upgrade for free deals.
However there are many other ways to get Windows Mobile 6.5 on your Vogue, i.e. NFSFAN's Custom ROMS here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3526944&postcount=2378 but remember to read the directions thoroughly and that your doing this at your own risk.

The Vogue doesn't meet the superficial hardware requirements for WinMo 6.5 set by Microsoft, so it won't receive an official upgrade.
That said, see the above post ^

damn impressive and fast. windows mobile interface is totaly hidden.
anybody working on porting this to our devices. i hope the non-standard screen resolution doent slow development on this thing
flash
http://www.meizu.com/cn/Taste.html
the keyboard and some of the integrated apps in the video look good too.
hope this gets enough interest from the developers here
that's because it's not running Windows Mobile, it's running its own OS based on Windows CE 6.

I seemed to see there S2P and TCPMP?
And have multi touch screen like iPhone !
i´m impressed, can´t believe this is windows mobile, so they did a good job. the phone has a 3,4 zoll display with 720x480 Pixel ! and a ARM-Prozessor with 800 Megahertz (SPEEED) !!! But no 3G
The GUI or OS or whatever is unbelievable smoth fast and eyecandy. I´m just wondering why they use windows ce 6.0 and microsoft itself is still on windows ce 5.x ?
they used Windows CE6 probably cause Microsoft made the kernel shared source, also no GPS.
The M8 I think is still doomed, too little to late at this point.
For them to compete in the states it would of least had to be 3G with GPS.
well upgrades for this device to WM7 will be more easy because it already uses the CE6 kernel
im a noob here but
1-whats the difference between wm6 and ce?
2-tcmp was there in the video doent this make it compatible with windiws mobile
3-why are the newest htc phones are based 5.2 and this one 6.0
4-is the still UI portable if its not based on windiws mobile
this would be AMAZING to port over.
or at least make a clone of.
M8 is 2 years late. Nobody is interested in this phone anymore.
who cares about the phone. i dont think anybody cared about touch 3g or viva. but it gave us manila2d for all our other devices
its the software we're intrested in.
-
this UI seems to be the fack iphone is it not?
the ones made in china?
+1 on that
this ui looks great and would really be an improvement...

its not their own os, the os is windows ce. they just have their custom shell running on windows ce. windows mobile is windows ce too but with microsofts mobile shell.
Wow its so fast and responsive. No loading icons. Unbelieveable! If Windows Mobile uses the same CE but just a different shell, why do we have so many loading wait icons when obviously we have proof that it does not need to be that way? Would love to see this OS on the HTC Touch HD.

1-WM 6 has only 40% (i think) of the code available for customizing, win ce 6 has 100% so full customisation is possible.
2-some winmo apps run on the M8 a tester showed screens of Igo 8. So some will work, others not.
3-wince6 will be used for winmo 7
4-ui may not be portable as it has been said is a full customisation of wince. It touches part that are not accesible in winmo.
windows mobile 6 is based on windows ce 5 and window mobile 7 will base on windows ce 6. mmh but how can a small chinese company blame microsoft with this better and newer OS ?. So no chance for porting this to wm6.
I am pretty sure it's their own propietary OS based on Windows 6 CE kernel not just a shell, this is what has been said over at meizume.com
I just don't want people thinking this is just going to be straight up Windows 6 CE with just a pretty GUI on top of it. Though since it is still based on CE 6, I guess it depends on what kinda terminology you use for shell.
The CEO is looking to market the OS to developers to make proprietary software and app store and so forth..though I don't see that catching on real well.

Is Microsoft actually saying no 6.5 update for xperiancers?

Bedtime stories? For freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
SE or HTC should do everything to bring WinMob6.5 to the Xperiancers as some sort of compensation for the cracks in case...
It's nothing to do with whether MS decide to do wm6.5 for the x1. That's purely SE decision;
I honestly don't think you'll ever see it.. SE have to buy licences for every device, so it would cost them a lot more than they'd be willing to spend in the current economic climate.
Best wait for the X2 if you want official SE 6.5 rom...

Who cares?? Many users care!
Not everyone is using Custom ROM's.
I will definitely never use any cooked 6.5 on my phone.
i wouldnt really want to use a custom ROM - i'd really love for SE to release as a update - then they can remarket the phone - new and improved!
Mleh, it's not like we even know when 6.5 is going to be out yet. I haven't really seen difference that make me sit up and go 'wow' and I really can't see SE shelling out for a new os a year after they release a phone.
Having said that, it's my personal opinion that 6.5 is like a 'service pack' and should be provided for free by Microsoft for all WM6 devices.

why do you care about that since you have this forum?

actually, i'm here for many reasons except for custom roms, i happen to prefer official releases in terms of ROMs, i agree with crabby09, 6.5 should be more like a service pack 2...
wm 6.1 should be deemed as SP1 to wm6, and 6.5 as SP2...then who need 7 would have to resort to a new phone or install the OS

I agree with that 100%... Its just an update for the OS not a hardware thing so SE should allow X1 to get WM6.5 like what HTC does...

agreed 100% too!
personal I doubt se is willing to pay
personal I can see that many normal users will never use custom roms
personal I can see that many normal users will never even use rom updates like the wm6.5 would be
personal I can see that many users don't see wm6.5 as the greatest thing since sliced bread
pie6 is too little too late other browsers does what it does and been doing it for some time
it's gui is not out of this world compared to some of the gui's people can install on wm now
doubt very much that any programs released that will only work with wm6.5 and not wm6.1 or wm6 so one will not be left behind
wm6.5 will not interduce special new api's for some newer features that not all wm devices have
like accelerometers and the likes
seriously wat improvement 6.5 have?

Your Topaz was delivered with WM 6.5?
What language, where did you get it from?
i belive he mean that Windows mobile 6.1 is windows mobile too
From what I can make out they are rebranding WM 6.5 to "Windows Phone" and this will become an inferior 'poor man's' OS alongside WM7.
Any phone running 'Windows Phone' will be a cheaper model, with WM7 reserved for 'premium' phones.
An interesting marketing strategy, considering that WM6.5 is only now starting to appear as an upgrade promise on the top end flagship devices coming out of HTC...
i hope we will be able to get WM7 on our phones, having "windows phone" will annoy me.
also [email protected] microsoft windows tag, why not just use QR codes like everyone else. if they really expect people to take up windows tags, they are kidding themselfs.

HTC Confirms that HD2 Gets Windows Mobile 7

"We just got an interesting news tip pointing to the HTC Twitter account from Russia. The tweet mentions that the only HTC device currently on the market to receive a Windows Mobile 7 upgrade will be the HD2. And we've suspected this for a while, considering that the HD2 meets Microsoft's hardware requirements for Windows Mobile 7. Here's what they said:
for Diamond 2 firmware is not planned. Of the existing communicators on the market, only the HD2 firmware to get WM7.
Hopefully what we see here is a true (and considering that this was said by an official HTC rep, it should be), because the HD2 is going to turn out to be one of the most popular smartphones of all time. If it's getting an upgrade to 7, this will make a lot of people happy.
Thanks for the tip, av8612."

What does the windows 7 update mean for us?

I see lots of people say when windows mobile 7 goes on our device it will be unbeatable, why is this? I dont really see much wrong with this one lol

I don't know about unbeatable but WM7 has gone through several delays as I'm sure Microsoft is aware that they are standing on there last leg to keep there (9%) of there mobile market shares, so......
...if Microsoft is smart, and it looks like they seem to be (delays signify that WM7 is not quite ready and thus, not rushing it), it should be a much improved Operating System as it has to compete against Symbian and Apple's and blackberry.
Market Shares:
Symbian....50.3%
Blackberry..20.9%
Iphone........13.7%
Windows.......9.0%
Andriod.......2.8%
WM 6.5 was was not even supposed to have existed but due to the delays, 6.5 was nothing more than a stand in, holding it's place for what some have anticipated to be revolutionary OS. Not sure if they will push through with that term when it actually comes out of the gates. Time will tell...
There isn't too much wrong with this one. Windows Mobile 6.5 is by far the most powerful mobile OS and it's getting bashed just because it lacks a nice and simple user interface.
Windows Mobile 7 will bring a new, hopefully exciting, user interface, probably based on Silverlight, new APIs for developers to create great applications that look and work much better than what we have now and better integration with Microsoft's services (Zune, XBox, Windows Live, Bing...).
On the other side, it will probably break compatibility with most, if not all, currently available applications.

And I think it should. The past should be scrapped to create a new future. Like OS9 to OSX and PalmOS to WebOS. Bring emulation if really needed.
Don't forget the new core of the CE which will fully support the new fast processors. That means we get an even faster phone.
windows 7 base on ce 6.0 core so ther wont be any backward compatibility.
Probably new core will be much stable and faster (support for FPU) and some othre stuff.
will windows mobile 7 be freely avalible on hd2? some sites are saying yes and others are saying no. it is my understanding that wm 6.5 and wm7 will co-exist, with wm7 aimed at high end devices (i assume because of the higher system requirements). would be good if HTC gave the hd2 wm7, as it would really open up the device in terms of performance and features.

Nobody knows yet.
My guess is that there will not be an official HTC release of it, for the same reason as there hasn't been any official WM6.5 upgrade for the Touch HD - WM7 is due to launch at about the same time as the successor to the HD2 (Q4 this year), and allowing HD2 users to upgrade easily to WM7 would cannibalise sales of the HD3 (or whatever it's called); HTC would obviously prefer people who want to upgrade to WM7 to buy a new HTC phone to do it.
I've no doubt that attempts will be made by the ROM "chefs" on this site to produce "cooked" ROMs for the HD2 based on WM7. However, this may be a much tricker proposition than, say, producing a WM6.5 ROM for a Touch HD, as WM7 is based on an entirely different Operating System kernel and uses a new driver model. That means that unless there is some reference device which uses exactly the same hardware as the HD2 and runs WM7 and whose drivers the ROM chefs can pirate, it's not going to work.
