Hi guys,
I'm facing a dificult problem these days..
I can't access Windows folder from my Diamond2 !!
I can only access using Nataly's V3 ROM !! Others ROMS don't lemme enter the folder !!
I can see the folder, but when I click it, keeps loading forever, and don't show me any files, the TD2 starts being slow and I have to softreset it. I can't copy anything inside eighter...
Anybody has a clue ? Why only Nataly V3 ROM lemme access Windows folder ??
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64bits on PC and PDACorner X-Treme2 V4 right now.. but tested with almost every rom available here.
Thanks!

Are you trying to browse the folder with the phone or with your PC? I think my PC takes forever loading the contents of the folder as well. That's perfectly understandable considering the mobile communicates with your PC in Serial and there are close to 7000 files in your windows folder.
Just browse the folder with your mobile and use Total Commander.

You can't copy the file of the device because its in ROM.
The OS prevents files in ROM from being copied from the device because of something called XIP that is used.

So get your activesync (if u don't have it go to microsoft and find it)
connect via cabel, ird, bluetooth... and do it !

yes i did, first on my storage card and then i copied it to my documents folder, but the setup.exe doesn't do anything when i tap it.
Hi,
Just connect your device via Act.Sync to your PC copy the exe file to your PC, if you haven't done so, and run the exe file on your PC. This is th usual way to install new applications.
Good luck, M

The other option is to download the CAB file (if available). Then you can copy the CAB file to your device, click on it and it will install.
The only issue when installing CAB files this way, they generally install into the default location on your PDA (normally into RAM or main memory). If this isn't an issue then no problem but if it is you can download and install a program called "CAB Install" from here http://www.s-k-tools.com/fp/viewtopic.php?t=44
Run this app and you can then install your CAB files where ever you want.
hi people
I am looking out for a software for my Vista Operating system in which i can install cab files directly from my desktop without copying it to my device n then installing it.
There r many softwares actually but none of them r vista compatible..for eg cabviaactivesync.
Any developpers intrested in helping us out
WinCE CAB installer
Here you go:

You can drag and drop CABs there, or ever better, associate .CAB files with it in Vista, so, all you need to do to install a CAB is a double click (while having ActiveSync on of course)
wow so fast reply.thank u so much..i hope it works on vista.
i have tried this already but not working on vista..its says file cant be accessed!!even in admin mode

Doesn't work for me. Get access denied. And what's worse: you can't uninstall the damn thing.
Edit:
Found it, just remove the Send to entry and delete cabinst.exe from Windows folder.

plzzz help
even i am getting that file access denied.what to do???
Having recently upgraded to Windows 7, I bumped into this issue as well and googled my way to this thread, but found no solutions like you guys.
It seems that all would be well if I turned off User Account Control, which, however, I don't really want to.
Thus I did more searches and found the following article:
Selectively disable UAC for your trusted Vista applications
Although the steps described in the above article did not prevent a UAC prompt from popping up, my installation of WinCE CAB Installer works now.

Simply turn the phone on. Most settings with install automatically.
Read the wiki pages and hopefully these will guide you further
You will need to sync your phone to your pc using activesync and your usb cable which comes with the phone.
Most applications/software will come in either .exe or.cab format. All .exe files are installed from youir pc while phone is sync'd. Just follow the on screen instructions once you open the file.
.cab files are installed directly from your phone. Once your phone is sync'd to your computer via usb cable transfer .cab file to your phone using file explorer then open file on your phone using phone file explorer
Hope this helps

oooooh thank u thank u for telling that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WoW thnaks for this great info
I was so sad as i saw that there is no way to get my X2 running as an flash drive.
I think the easiest way to switch is an shortcut to programs or todayscreen or anything like that. Then the file is once running, you just open the taskmanager and kill the file.
May i´ll write a toogle script with mortscript in a view days ... we´ll see
EDIT:
I now was trying but there´s no sdt.exe in my windows folder. So i was looking in the windows folder of my X1 which was able to be pluged as an massstorage, but ther wasnt a sdt.exe too.
So i think it wont be so simple to get the massstoragemode back
I think the mass Storage mode is handled in one of the 3 exe-files: device.exe, shell32.exe or filesys.exe
But these files i wont replace on my X2
Thanks.....
Thanks for good idea ......
i use the attached program that working well...
Thanks
Thanks Dude......

you have to use a file explorer like "resco explorer" to view hidden files in windows folder as "sdt.exe" is a hidden file
