how do i add my number to status on htc magic
when i go to settings>about phone>status
it says my phone number unknown
is there a way to mod it
thanks
If you have a vodafone sim the problem is with the way they build them.
See here
thanks for the link
took this from it
However there is a solution, you need a sony ericsson mobile phone, pop your sim into it, then...
Address Book--->Options--->Special Numbers--->My numbers--->My mobile
You can put your number in that field, it will populate the required field on the sim card so it will appear on every other handset.
but did not work lol

Anyone noticed that your own phone number is listed with the international Dial Prefix of 44. I can't seem to find a way to change this. On my Imate Jam it just showed my number.
Ignore me.. Sussed it
Beta,
You can also get your Vodafone number to display by entering *#100# in the Phone app and then press Send. It will then be displayed in a popup window where the last call normally is displayed.
Derr, where's that then
Sorry to be dumb, but...Where were you looking and how did you correct it ?
Own Number on my SIM Card .. Use SIM Manager.

Might be sim dependent, on my magician the command is executed, but fails. & yes my sim doesn't contain my own number.
oltp,
*#100# will only work with Vodafone SIM cards. T-Mobile doesn't support this feature.
Too bad
Hello
strange one here, my phone number dose not appear at the top on sim manger, i really need it to. I used exchange 2010 and activesync, so i can send text message from outlook or owa. i can see a whole thread of texts between me and some one else, but it dose not display my name next to the message i sent, it dose if i sent it via outlook but not the phone. any way i need to know how to get sim manger to pick up my number or can i manually edit it, my exchange server cant pick my phone number up. so i look at sim manger and found that the issue is prob due to sim manger not displaying it. please can some one help
many thanks
Nick
Phone number is assigned from operator. Your sim contains only IMSI code and i'ts impossible retreive from phone.
You can set your phone number using sim manager:
go to sim manager menu->tools-> list your number (menu tools is not visible without gesture from down to up). In this option you can change number
Sorry for my question
But I'm trying to send text message
But every time my X10 fail to send text message
So i was trying to find out the message center no setting But i can't
So any help

That's so weird. I can't find the place to change the SMSC number either.
Anyway, the SMSC number is stored on the SIM card. Each time you turn on the phone, it will read the SIM card for the SMSC number. So a possible workaround is to swap your SIM into a different handset (preferably Nokia or non-Android Sony Ericsson) and you can view and edit the SMSC number there.
Hope that helps.
smsc setting
for sms center number u have to type * # * # 4636 #*#*.then u go to Phone information.After that.at the bottom,u will see Smsc box.then u can put ur sms center
best Regards
Hi there ,
When i check my contact list i have a message saying sim card unavailable at the top under search. Had the phone 2 weeks problem free and this is the only issue i have. Ps also happens on my girls x10

I had this but fixed it by taking the SIM out and editing advanced-special number- in my old phone and adding my number.
My phone number now shows instead of the "sim card unavailable".
Yup agree with above poster... shove it in a dumb phone, edit your number then pop it back in your smart phone and it will be able to 'see' the number
Great tip. That's been bugging me for a while. Thanks!
I have a htc touch dual will that do it ? Thanks for replies

hi
i need to save my number to a special/my own number??
or i need my to save my number and edit the name to something special??
How would you edit your number using a dumbphone?
It does work, but there should be an application to fix this , it is funny that a "smart phone" can not handle "stupid tasks"
Wanted to know how to do this also. Cheers
I used a blackberry on the service provider store to edit it and be able to use taptalk...

LOL...good one...
yes!!!
thats exactly how its done... I had the same problem , removed the sim, put it in an old SE phone, edited the number and now it shows up in my X10i...
FYI: Mobile number is never pre-stored in SIM card given by your mobile operator. The SIM card only contains IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) which is the ID of the SIM card it self. And the phone does not know what is its phone number as well. And that is why that you can actually ask the mobile operator to change your phone number, without requiring you to change SIM card.
So you need to manually write your own number with other phone.
PS: Mobile phone eavesdropping/tapping hardwares also cannot see your phone number, only IMSI as the phone send their IMSI to mobile network. So movie that shows that they can sniff and see your phone number in their hardware, its fake.
i sold all my old phones
Please can someone help me.
I have recently changed from vodafone to virgin & ported my old vodafone number to new virgin sim.
My phone is showing my virgin number but when people call me on my old number the call comes through but for some reason my voicemail does not kick in when i miss a call a message comes up saying the number you are calling is unavailable.
But when i ring my voicemail it says it is setup & working.
Does the fact that my phone is showing my now cut off virgin number have anything to do with this.
IF SO HOW DO I CHANGE MY NUMBER TO SHOW UP CORRECTLY IN CALL SETTINGS.
Thank you.
HOW DO I DELETE THIS POST PUT IT IN WRONG PLACE
OK so its a Virgin Sim
Type *#67# into the key pad, after a few seconds you will get a reply, scroll down and note the number including the +44 bit
Then you need to find the Voicemail number on the phone and replace it with that one, Job Done, also the 1 key will then go direct to the VM
