Letter recognizer?! - Touch HD General

I upgraded touch HD with Duttys latest HD WM6.5 Leo R4 (nice as always) and noticed that letter recognizer disappeared!
I love this feature, is there any way to enable it again?!
I tried the enablerecognizerwwe.cab and altered the registry with no luck.
Please, any advise about this issue is greatly appreciated!.

you mean transcriber ?

never used transcriber before but i came across it and it seems a bit similar
i meant the block recognizer / letter recognizer
if transcriber will get me to write sms and emails like i used before using stylus then please advise how to install it.
am still hoping for the block recognizer though..am so used to it

Transcriber and word completion

Hello,
I regularly use transcriber, but it never seems to suggest any words (to complete). I am using TC with WM6.0. Is there something I am missing here.

Greek HTC Keyboard for Jade (& Iolite) with 160 SMS characters

Here is a cab which installs the greek HTC keyboard in Jade (& Iolite) and has support for 160 characters in SMS.
After installing, you will get only two available languages in your keyboard/keypad (English/Greek).
Version History
v0.2
1) Included kdb files to fix SMS160 issue
2) Removed some registry entries which were irrelevant
v0.1
Initial Release
Installation Instructions
1) If this is your first installation please use only the latest version (HTC_Greek_Keyboard_v0_2.cab).
2) If you have already installed a previous version DO NOT UNINSTALL. Just install the newer version on top. Otherwise I cannot guarantee the results.
3) If you want to upgrade from v0.1 to v0.2 you could just extract the contents of kdb_files.zip to \Windows directory of your Jade.
4) After installing perform a soft reset.
Attention!
Use this cab at your own risk! But if you do use it, please post the results here
Great job but no support for 160 characters in SMS. Is there a trick that I have to do for this?
Did you try to soft-reset after installing? If you did and it still doesn't work, then I will have to include the kdb files into the cab.
I just tested the cab on HTC Iolite (Touch Cruise 2009) and works great!

Try installing v0.2, or extract contents of kdb_files.zip to \Windows path of your Jade. I have tried it on 2 phones so far and it worked.
Note that the way SMS 160 works, when you start typing you see that you have 70 characters left, but once you stop the counter shows 160.
Hello
This is support full QWERTY keyboard?
Also is it possible to use the files for VGA keyboard execpt *.png file
hi all, i just tested it on my new htc touch pro2 device and the qwerty works nice. I couldnt use small letter on message part only capitals. My keyboard though doesnt type in greece, i think i have to find out how to do that...
Of course the contact filtering letters are still in english...
cheers 2 all
Thanks for the release.
on the HTC touch diamond 2 is works fine everywhere except SMS.
When writing SMS all letters are capitalised regardless of how you type them. Only happens in actual text portion.
Do you know what could be causing this and if its easily fixed? I'm a noobie to windows mobiles.
If you want to sent an SMS with greek characters you have to choose either 160 and all capital letters or 70 and whatever kind of letters you want. This is because lower greek letters are Unicode and Unicode uses more bits per letter so you get 70 characters instead of 160. This is a common problem with greek phones and that's why Greek-SMS Keyboard layouts exist.
i have the same problem with my new htc touch pro 2 when i wright in capitals sms doesnt allow my 160 but only 70 characters...i also wand to ask if the is any cab for greek luanguage support for the slide keyboard
atzoum, you are a small God
Thank you so very much, was trying to find this for a couple of days after my last ROM update...
Installed on Touch Cruise 09 (Iolite) and works like a charm, with T9 support as well.

could someone upload a screenshot so that we can see which keyboard(s) this thread is about?

Block Recognizer

Hi guys,
I bought a TD2 new, upgrading from my older HTC Trinity (P3600).
On the Trinity I got very used to the Block Recognizer entry method, as it was intuitive and MUCH faster than the keyboard.
On the TD2 the keyboard's very nice but I still wanted to use the Block Recognizer. I know that this exists as an input option but there is a marked difference: Whereas on the Trinity the script I'm writing appears instantaneously under my stylus/finger, on the TD2 there is a half-second delay. This may not seem like a lot but it means that my typing is drastically slowed and has lots of typos!
Does anybody else like to use Block Recognizer and has the same issue? Any fixes known?
Thanks,
Wassim

I´m a block recognizer fan too. I use this cab and works perfect. Hope this help.
Hey MrGusano, thanks for the .cab! I was wondering if there's any documentation on this? If it happens to not work can I then uninstall it?
Cheers,
Wassim
I belive that is happening because of TD2 screen resolution which is 480x800 (384000 pixels to be processed) if you compare it to for example omnia which is 240x320 (76800 pixels) you'll get the idea.
Shortly saying: more dpi (dots per inch) bigger latencies....
Sorry bout' my english guys

The cab has only registry entries inside. No files will be installed.
After installation, you can remove it safely in Settings->Remove Programs

AE Keyboard Mapper not working on HD2! (desperately needed for bluetooth keyboard)

Hi folks,
for the last few hours I have been trying use AE Keyboard Mapper to adjust a Freedom Universal bluetooth keyboard (German QWERTZ-layout) to my new HTC HD2's (original German ROM) obviously English driver.
Previously, this procedure worked perfectly for the combination of my old HTC Touch Dual and the afore-mentioned keyboard. Unluckily, if I use AE Keyboard Mapper 1.3 to switch, e.g., Y and Z on the HD2 both keys end up dead.
Is there anyone who got AE Keyboard Mapper working on his HTC HD2? Is there another application out there which does the same job?
Thank you in advance!
You need version 1.3.
Also, HTC apparently does something with sense that breaks AEKMap, so you should try changing sip (keyboard software). mine works when I'm using the Eyron (Hebrew\English) sip, but with the HTC sip the leo ignores any press of remapped keys..
Ohg, and don't let the site confuse you - it's still freeware
http://ae.inc.ru/aekmapdownload.php
Nearly forgot, I only ever tested it on 1.61...
Thank you for the quick response! I'm already using version 1.3 so that shouldn't be the problem. But as you described, the HTC Leo simply ignores any remapped key.
Could you please go into more detail relating the Eyron solution? I just visited their consumer website but my Hewbrew is a little rusty... ;-)
Is there some English third-party software to achieve the same thing?
No ill will towards them, but their site isn't much good because they only offer a 7 or 14 week demo of the software itself. I played around with AEK in the meanwhile and it works on Topix 1.1.1 rom (based on 1.61 if I'm not mistaken) with Finger Keyboard, which in itself is one of the finest freeware I ever used.
I suspect HTC circumvented some of the input routines upon which AEKMap relies for injecting the altered keys. Try it with Finger Keyboard 2.1. If it won't work I'd suggest installing a free Arab or Hebrew Lang extender. It just has to be there to make the device "unstreamline" what HTC did.
Thank you for your support! Your hint was exactly what was needed as I installed TouchPal in the meantime and now AE Keyboard Mapper works like a charm!
Has anyone used AE Keyboard Mapper to get the extra/special functions of the igo stowaway keyboard to work?
Hi,
I installed TouchPal and FingerKeyb, incl. the hebrew driver. Still can't get the stowaway keyboard work with AEK. Remapped keys simply are ignored. How exactly did you make it work with either TouchPal or FingerKeyboard?
If I get it working, I will try to remap the complete stowaway keyboard and publish the driver.
Thanks!
which version of Think Outside Keyboard do you have, English Layout?
Hello,
I am trying to make AEKMap work on my HD2 (installed the brand new ROM, 3.14)
I have the same problem as mentionned above: all remapped keys are ignored.
I tried to install FingerKeybore, TouchPal and even NullKeyboard, still doesn't work
Does someone have an other workaround? Is it because of the new ROM?
Also, as Dirty Harry mentions, the layout of the external keyboard is not the same as the HTC keyboard: AZERTY VS QWERTY !
Maybe there is a way to find the config file for the QWERTY and modify it?
Thanks in advance if you have any lead!
sorry i'm late to help you!
i had the same problem.
i found a solution today that is working for me:
i modified a file for my german qwertz freedom universal keyboard 2, then i changed the hd2 sip (softwareinput/screenkeyboard) to anything else, but not the standard-finger-input-softkeyboard from htc, because it seems to cause that mapping problem!
a tip: you still can use a good sip-keyboard parallel in use of the bluetooth keyboard. i use fingerkb instead. totally free and also available in many languages!
and don't forget to modify the aekmap files by yourself to work with your keyboard!
i will attach my keyboard config for the german qwertz freedom universal keyboard 2 (hid-mode) - tested on german windows-mobile 6.5 rom.
known problems: this keys are not working and also not recognized by the aekmapscan.exe:
<>| = opens start-menu - i tried to map this keys but then i can not use the hd2 win-key, because it's writing a "<" when pressing, so i deactivated it!
alt gr is not working (no characters like @€{[]}\~ etc)
fn key is not working (maybe only with the escape-key)
start-key is not working, use the <>| key instead
i hope i could help someone in the future!

Enabling Transcriber/Handwriting Recognition on HTC Touch2

Hi :
Newbie (Relatively)
Considering an HTC Touch that comes free with a T-Mobile (UK) Contract.
Problem is I really like taking notes with the Transcriber/Handwriting Recognition input function but can't seem to find it on any UK demo phone (including unlocked friom Carphone Warehouse).
This must exist in the Winmobile 6.5 Rom somewhere.
Can it be enabled ? Anybody any wiser ?
Can anyone please help asap ?
Thanks in advance

any ideas.. pls help..
u can enable transcriber by goin into d windows file..and scroll upon the "t" letter files, find trancriber..and There you are..transcriber gets activated..in HTC touch2
Another way how you can enable transcriber for example are the sktools. With this porgram is it very easy. Normally you can do this with the demo version if you do not want to buy it.
transcriber works!

Hi - thanks, this works for me, and I am amazed by the quality of handwriting recognition in WORD. On the other hand it is useless for names and numbers in Outlook!
