What ROM version is the most recent? - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hi,
I bought my HTC hero today and saw that on the 11th of September, a ROM update was posted.
Version: 2.73.405.5
On my phone, I can see build number: 2.73.110.5 146733 CL...
Software version 1.0.0.A6288
Should I perform an upgrade or is the latest ROM already installed? This is not clear to me. I guess 1100 is a higher number then 405...
Thanks!

The latest version is 2.73.405.5
and yours says 110 not 1100 and 405 is more than 110 ;-)
As always if you are happy with how your phone is working you probably don't need to update. However there are a lot of performance fixes in the new ROM so it has been recommended to do.

Sorry, but the important part of the version number is the 2.73 - the rest just indicates operator and region differences. Broadly speaking, all 2.73.xxx.x ROMs are going to be pretty much the same.

MDA Vario has started resetting itself!

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can advise me on how to stop my Vario randomly resetting itself. It's only just started to do this in the last few days having installed a few programs like SPB Pocket Plus, SPB Weather and SPB Backup.
My device information is:
ROM: 1.6.2.4 WWE
ROM Date: 11/15/05
ExtROM Version: 1.6.2.105
Will updating the ROM improve thisngs, if so, which one is the best? Any advice giben is really appreciated, thanks.
I had the same problem with the same software installed.
Don't know if it was the software but a replacement handset had version 2.21 and it is now much more stable with much better battery life too.
Good Luck
Is version 2.21 an official T-Mobile upgrade? If so, where do i get it from?
I returned my previous MDA Vario to T-Mobile due to constant rebooting.
The new handset they supplied had the following details :-
ROM Version 2.21.2.6.WWE
ROM Date 3/9/06
Radio Version 02.19.11
Protocol Version 4.1.13.09
Ext ROM Version 2.21.2.109
I guess it must be an official T-Mobile version as they supplied the handset.
It is much more stable then the 1.6 or so version I previously had.
Hope this info helps.
Thanks for that.
If it is ROM rebuild that i need, i better start reading up on how to debrand the phone and add a Mr Clean ROM as they're supposed to be the best ones to use. I don't fancy sending my phone back to T-Mobile as i've heard stories exchange units being sent out!
why do you not just up grade you phone to the newer rom!!! it is so easy to do!
Cheers for the advice, i've downloaded the official 2.26 ROM from T-mobile, i just have to back up all my contacts and setting and then i'll have a go at installing the new ROM.
Fingers crossed it all goes well!
I am having the same problems with the newest tmobile oem rom update..
I have installed the following apps.
battery plus pro 3.0
Omap 0.4
PediSuite
Photo Explorer
Microsoft Voice Command.
and the device will reboot atleast once a day if not more. can anyone tell me why it is rebooting?
Thanks.
^^ If your using omap to overclock its possible your device is unstable at the faster speeds causing the reboot.

hmmmm, I am only over clocking to 240 like most people are doing. but I did not encounter this problem until I updated to the new rom and reinstalled omap newest version with the auto load.
anyone else with the newest rom and omap installed?

UK MDA Vario 2 latest roms etc?

Does anybody know the latest offical ROM etc for the T-Mobile Vario2?
Mine is off back to T-Mobile tommorow for checking out over battery life.
My current details are:
ROM Version: 1.21.110.3
ROM Date: 06/19/06
Radio Version: 1.05.05.00
Protocol Version: 32.36.7010.04H (Whatever that is!)
I would like them to update it whilst its away, but I wonder if there is a newer one I can officially have.
Cheers
Sorry to bump up; but can somebody with a new model check their ROM please? Or is there somewhere on this site that has a list of latest "approved" versions?
Cheers
Look at the wiki for shipped ROMS
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
Looks like you're not far off the latest official versions
Thanks Sparky
Well, received back today.
Repair docket said replaced mainboard/unit exchanged plus software upgraded.
The phone is new as imei number is different.
But ROMS etc are all same version.
I am using this Rom
Rom Version 1.35.255.2
Rom Date 11/14/06
Rom Version 1.18.00.10
Protocol Version 32.55.7018.01H
ExtRom Version 1.35.255.102
I got this from the Wiki Site. Works real well i think!
I just wanna get the vista onto my MDA Vario II. If it runs faster thats all i want!!!
DOnt want to sound stupid...... but what would I get (over my standard T-Mobile image) if I upgraded to this or the even newer HTC one (2.05.255.1 - 01/17/07 ). Whats the AKU etc?
Please try to search for your answers! Use google or the forum's search function and you'll be helped. You'll find so much information, some are for beginners, some are for advanced users. And if you find yourself left with specific questions come back and ask them. Thanks.
Sorry chaty, but I did try searching and could not find the answer, this is why I asked!

Updating firmware?

Hello all, I've had my X1i for about a month now. I've noticed theres an updating application on the CD included with the X1 for my PC. Should I use this to update the firmware on the X1i? I remember reading some posts awhile back that updating it caused some X1s to brick. Is this problem still widely spread? Can I now use the update software safely?
new firmware soon!!!
hi there..
i talked with sonyericsson technical support today and according to them, sonyericsson will soon release a new firmware to x1..
problably in about two weeks. cant wait
If I downloaded..
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/updateservice/x1?lc=en&cc=gb
What would running it do to my phone?
Edit: I also have an unlocked phone...
The easiest way is to find the thread in the ROM section with the NEW firmwares. There are instructions on how to install them just using your Memory Card which is quick and efficient.
So I found the thread...one question though...how do I know which one to install?
From the version tab
Rom Version: 1.02.931.3
Rom Date: 8/29/08
Radio Version: 1.06.25.29
Customer info. tab
Software id: 1213-6450
software version: R1AA017
Customization id: 1215-1832
Customization v..: R15A

The answer to your question is posted all over the place, as well as the thread you found.
If you want to keep the Generic_UK rom (Not branded by any companies), you have to wait till it comes out.
Or even better, wait for the new firmware to get expertly cooked up in a lightning fast beast!

New FW already out?
Hi there,
I read some post under the ROM section about someone that tried the SE update service and already got the new FW.
I live in Sweden and have an unlocked X1i (Swedish). Used the update service. The program told me that I already got the latest FW, but I chose "install new FW anyway".
I had R1A before, but now I have R2AA.
Seems like the new FW is already out!
Yes the new firmware is out, R2A ROM version 1.03.936.6.
So have anyone tried it yet?
Would love to have some reports before proceeding.

Leaked ROMS and the camera fix

Hi guys
I just found the camera fix on the HTC UK website. There was still no download for the UK ROM update. The EMEA site had the ROM updates for all regions except the UK.
I called HTC UK. They told me that the UK one is due soon. He explicitely told me that any ROMs out before they come on the HTC website were not official. That doesn't mean they were not developed by HTC but it does mean they were not the ones HTC mean't the public to get.
This seems reinforced by his statement that when you apply the officially released ROM it will include all the fixes to date, including the camera fix ... you won't need to apply the camera fix if you have applied the proper ROM update.
I know people that have downloaded the ROMs from other sources will like to maintain they are the official ROMs but I'm afraid that doesn't appear to be the case.
I will wait until the proper UK one is out and check the version number at that point.
Paul.
Mate... this is common sense.
if its not on the HTC website then its not official!!!!!!
UK users shouldnt worry... it will come out soon enough.
Speaking of hotfix i got my camera hotfix and was thrilled and glad to see it.
I installed it in a hurry and took a few shots with the same WHITE over exposed results as before. What have they fixed? Nothing!

the hotfix was for the pinking issue. Most people are reporting it to be working.
I installed the unofficial 1.48 ROM and paid the price. Before I had no issues with my hd2 now with 1.48 I get occasional crashes and it gave me the over exposed photos. Hopefully these issues will be sorted with the official UK ROM.
I received my HD2 (WWE version) yesterday (via PDASHOP in the Netherlands) and it's already using the 1.48 ROM out of the box !!
So the 1.48 ROM surely is Official
OS Version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila Version: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM Version: 1.48.405.2 (71294) WWE
ROM Date: 11/18/09
Radio Version: 2.05.51.05_2
Protocol Version: 15.28.50.07U
Camera Version: 6.26 (Build 1921.1625)
Well im running the European English 1.48 ROM and the Hotfix from HTC UK worked fine.
I keep getting the "Not a valid Win32 application" error message once I have downloaded/try to run the camera fix.. :S What size if your guys d/l for the camera fix LEO_07477.exe file? Mines 2.18mb.

You need to run the exe on the phone not the PC.

God I feel stupid now! Should have read the instructions on the htc site a bit more thoroughly! Just presumed it would install in a similar way to the .net framwork install..
I just went to the "Europe Home" for HTC and though the site offers me a file for download, the download links are all 404s.
I bought a "UK Version" HD2 here in Belgium. Am I getting a "Page Could Not Be Found" error at download because I really have a UK-specific Phone/ROM and "UK Version" is an official HTC designation?

Chill out, man........I'm just saying that the ROM is official, otherwise a brandnew HD2 would not have been equiped with it.
Just because the UK version is not on the Website for download yet, doesn't mean a thing. Just relax and your download will be available soon

yes all it means is that they haven't got around to updating the UK site yet..
obviously it would be lovely if they suddenly decided to ship the mentioned 1.6 rom to UK owners, but I can't see them doing that before it's been tested for a couple of weeks.
I'd also take anything said by a customer service rep with a pinch of salt until it's put in writing and then from someone senior enough to actually know what they're talking about..
FWIW when you enter your serial number on the HTC europe site you get a download link (which is broken because they messed the links up, still wondering why the UK isn't there?)
but the link points to RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe
Try comparing that to the leaked rom ;P
Go to "Europe Home" for country -- I have UK version and am downloading the new ROM right now...
http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=804
When I downloaded the camera hotfix, it said it was applicable for all ROM versions 1.60.xxx.xxx and earlier. This new ROM seems to have an earlier version number, so does that mean there's a new version to be released soon (or just that the hotfix isn't built into the ROM updates)?

My problem is that there is no way to take a nice face shot with the flash inside a room at the night. Everything bright gets just white and overexposed.
Any nice tip would be appreciated.
I think the flash goes of to late and are at it's fullest when the picture is taken, would it be better is the flashlight is about to fade out when the device is set to night or lightbulb...
This drives me nuts!!

I had the same bug, I come from the Netherlands.
This is the first time I hear this I think it was my rom
i think you guys should read first....the link posted by op is for south east asia version....it is not any more different or new than 3.14 released elsewhere...only that,it is suited for s.e.a region....so download from your respective region only...as for europe, it is the daylight saving problem..not yet addressed
I've been having the clock problem too since upgrading to 3.14 - using a product code that wasn't my own because T-Mobile UK are utterly useless at releasing vendor-specific ones. It sometimes takes 6 months!!

Guys, 3.14.405 is the European English version. 3.14.707 is South East Asia. Don't install a version not suitable for your region. You may have many problems if you do so and risk even bricking the unit.
I am still on 1.72 (Unhappy Vodafone UK customer) and had the +1 hour problem as well, it is not related to the ROM version, it's summer/winter time change problem. Until a fix is offered by HTC the best option is to turn off Automatic Time Sync. It solves the problem, howener you will need to manually adjust the time if you travel to another time zone
Guys; please some attention.
Lot of peoples mention to have time problems; let's clearing this point.
This problem isn't related to ROM/aria/device.
This problem is a big general problem on different device (even Nokia) ROM.
Simple thing you can do is turn of the Automation Time Synchronization.
