Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can advise me on how to stop my Vario randomly resetting itself. It's only just started to do this in the last few days having installed a few programs like SPB Pocket Plus, SPB Weather and SPB Backup.
My device information is:
ROM: 1.6.2.4 WWE
ROM Date: 11/15/05
ExtROM Version: 1.6.2.105
Will updating the ROM improve thisngs, if so, which one is the best? Any advice giben is really appreciated, thanks.
I had the same problem with the same software installed.
Don't know if it was the software but a replacement handset had version 2.21 and it is now much more stable with much better battery life too.
Good Luck
Is version 2.21 an official T-Mobile upgrade? If so, where do i get it from?
I returned my previous MDA Vario to T-Mobile due to constant rebooting.
The new handset they supplied had the following details :-
ROM Version 2.21.2.6.WWE
ROM Date 3/9/06
Radio Version 02.19.11
Protocol Version 4.1.13.09
Ext ROM Version 2.21.2.109
I guess it must be an official T-Mobile version as they supplied the handset.
It is much more stable then the 1.6 or so version I previously had.
Hope this info helps.
Thanks for that.
If it is ROM rebuild that i need, i better start reading up on how to debrand the phone and add a Mr Clean ROM as they're supposed to be the best ones to use. I don't fancy sending my phone back to T-Mobile as i've heard stories exchange units being sent out!
why do you not just up grade you phone to the newer rom!!! it is so easy to do!
Cheers for the advice, i've downloaded the official 2.26 ROM from T-mobile, i just have to back up all my contacts and setting and then i'll have a go at installing the new ROM.
Fingers crossed it all goes well!
I am having the same problems with the newest tmobile oem rom update..
I have installed the following apps.
battery plus pro 3.0
Omap 0.4
PediSuite
Photo Explorer
Microsoft Voice Command.
and the device will reboot atleast once a day if not more. can anyone tell me why it is rebooting?
Thanks.
^^ If your using omap to overclock its possible your device is unstable at the faster speeds causing the reboot.

Hello.
As a new xda user I have been reading up on flashing my machine to the Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC Phone edition. I am trying to find out if every rom will work on my phone.
I have an 02XDA
Bootloader 5.17
Rom Version 3.14.17 ENG
Rom Date 10/11/02
Radio version 4.17
Protocol Version 32s54
I was looking forward to updating it to the new version but o2 Asia (I assume my xda is the asian model) says that an upgrade is unlikely.
Can I update it with one of your roms or possibly the WM2003?
Thanks.
Yup, you can upgrade it, and anyone should.
If you asked me two days ago you would get a negative answer. But last night for the second time I upgraded my XDA again to WM2003, and very very happy with it. Specially the telephone and SMS facilities.
When I upgraded first time last week, I was not happy at all, my application programs somehow hang the XDA, most probably Battery Pack older version. Now I am using Spb Pocket Plus instead.
If you want to upgrade to WM2003, just make sure that all your application program can run in it. You cannot trust the signal bar, so I use an excelent program called IP Dashboard test it.
My old set-up was exactly like yours, and now:
ROM version: 4.00.01 ENG
ROM date: 05/16/03
Radio version: 4.21.00
Protocol version: 32S54
Help X2
Ok then.
To make mine look official, where can i get a proper copy of WM2003? I know its not officially endorsed or anything but I want it to at least look the part.
I'm one of these people who love having the newest look to their mobile and as its new I havn't put any extra programs on it yet. (Apary from the sms fix)
and how would I go about getting it and resoring it if the update failed. ?
You may not be able to get an 'official' copy of WM2003, but there are plenty of developer-releases floating around
Search the forums and read as much as you can and you will have your XDA upgraded in no time.
If I'm not happy with WM2003 can anyone tell me if it is possible to downgrade with the official Programme a/b that can be downloaded from the 02 website.
I downloaded it just in case I had any problems a while ago. Touch wood *knock Knock* It hasn't been a problem for me.
you can down-grade. the best way of doing it is to down-grade to XDA-developers v1.2 then to O2 3.xx

:? PLEASE HELP!!!
I've got an XDAI
ROM version: 4.01.12 ENG
ROM date: 12/22/03
Radio version: 6.1800
Protocol version: 324e4
Model no.: PW10A1
The ROM was cooked in Stefan's great ROM kitchens.
Whenever my XDA loses the GSM signal it turns itself on.
It will turn itself off again after 2 minutes-as it is set to do.
I don't know when this probelms started but it hasn't always done this.
It is maddening, especially when I am driving.
It also wears the battery down quickly.
Could it be my radio stack?
What is the best or most reccommended for XDA1?
i think it's the rom, its a little bug some 2003 t-mobile roms have
Try to use the AT&T ROM
it has very few bugs, but some problems in sound!
Revert back
I suggest you put the latest Pocket PC 2002 ROM back in.
I have been through the same with my own XDA 1. Tried every unofficial and coocked WM2003 ROM there is. Nothing but issues and an utter waste of my time. Now I am back at PPC2002 3.20.06, AFAIK the most recent PPC2002 version. Workes like a charm. Even -very demanding- TomTom3 runs smoothly on PPC2002 on my XDA 1.
WM2003 on an old XDA 1 does not bring any fascinating additional functionality. The XDA 1 does not become faster, does not use less memory for the OS so more for apps, no great extra apps, battery does not last longer with WM2003, graphics don't become speedier. No gains in there whatsoever, not for me anyway. Only issues unfortunately.
And all my non-MS apps well run on PPC2002. So why make the switch :?:
Thanks for all the replies.
You guys are great help.
Silicon
The Rom you mentioned 3.20.06 is an english language version of an asian ROM. Isn't it?
Will this work well in the USA (where I am)?
Also will it work well with T-Mobile?
Or should I use a ROM like 3.14.40?
Is there any need to change the radio stack?
Does anybody know the latest offical ROM etc for the T-Mobile Vario2?
Mine is off back to T-Mobile tommorow for checking out over battery life.
My current details are:
ROM Version: 1.21.110.3
ROM Date: 06/19/06
Radio Version: 1.05.05.00
Protocol Version: 32.36.7010.04H (Whatever that is!)
I would like them to update it whilst its away, but I wonder if there is a newer one I can officially have.
Cheers
Sorry to bump up; but can somebody with a new model check their ROM please? Or is there somewhere on this site that has a list of latest "approved" versions?
Cheers
Look at the wiki for shipped ROMS
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
Looks like you're not far off the latest official versions
Thanks Sparky
Well, received back today.
Repair docket said replaced mainboard/unit exchanged plus software upgraded.
The phone is new as imei number is different.
But ROMS etc are all same version.
I am using this Rom
Rom Version 1.35.255.2
Rom Date 11/14/06
Rom Version 1.18.00.10
Protocol Version 32.55.7018.01H
ExtRom Version 1.35.255.102
I got this from the Wiki Site. Works real well i think!
I just wanna get the vista onto my MDA Vario II. If it runs faster thats all i want!!!
DOnt want to sound stupid...... but what would I get (over my standard T-Mobile image) if I upgraded to this or the even newer HTC one (2.05.255.1 - 01/17/07 ). Whats the AKU etc?
Please try to search for your answers! Use google or the forum's search function and you'll be helped. You'll find so much information, some are for beginners, some are for advanced users. And if you find yourself left with specific questions come back and ask them. Thanks.
Sorry chaty, but I did try searching and could not find the answer, this is why I asked!
Hi all,
First post here after discovering this wonderful resource!
I am in the UK and have an O2 XDA Mini S, it was one of the first ones released I think.
I took off all of the O2 stuff as soon as I got it as it was extremely slow!
While it is ok most of the time, the performance can get pretty bad sometimes, seems like theres a memory leak somewhere.
Once rebooted its ok again for a few days.
The IPL and SPL version are both 1.05. I take it this is a very old (First?) version, and was wondering if upgrading it to a newer ROM would help the performance at all?
Other specs are as follows...
Rom Version - 1.5.4.2 WWE
ROM Date - 11/08/05
Radio version - 01.09.10
Protocol Version - 4.0.13.20
Ext ROM version - 1.5.4.102
Thanks...

Can't say I've used a 1.x rom version on my Wizard, but I have used a couple of official 2.1x roms, as well as Faria's WM5 rom and now I use Zoki's NBD WM6 rom. I can definitely say that I've seen performance improvements as I upgraded along this path. I've also found memory mgmt seem to be better on WM6 and I actually see memory reclaimed often, where this never happened before WM6.
Another thing to do is use batterystatus or omap to (slightly) overclock. I overclock to 260MHz using batterystatus.
Thanks for that Titus666,
Bit of a newbie with these things so excuse the question...
Does the ROM contain the OS then? eg. I have WM5 on mine. If I updated to another ROM would it update the OS to WM6 too?
Think I'll have to try a ROM update or 3 then, and try not to break it!

Yes, a ROM would contain the OS as well as the supporting apps and drivers like Bluetooth and Wifi etc. So there are many ROMs that are all WM5 but are all different, and similarly there are lots of ROMs that are WM6 but are all different as well.
So yes, if you want WM6, you will need to upgrade the rom. There are a number of sticky threads in the Wizard forums that spells out what needs to be done and what the traps are (and there are lots of traps), so read read read is my advice.
Hey guys...
I recently got an Orange SPV m5000. Except for the way it looks, it's a great PDA considering i've been using my old Wallaby PW10A1 ...
But the problem is, it has some speed/memory issues! Whenever i open the Programs, or want to make a call, it seems to be stucked for a second or two. I've been wondering, if this is due to the ROM it has.
About the pda, when i got this, it had SIMLock and the default rom in it.
I've removed SIMLock; thanks to buzz, and upgraded the rom the the newest version from Orange website. But still, the problem is the same..
So, i was wondering, if i wanted this to upgrade to WM6, would it be slower?
If yes, would installing another WM5 ROM solve my problem?
If not, which ROM should i be using?
I'ld be pleased if someone spares time to explain me things. It's confusing, there're so many things that i get lost and forgot all i knew whilst checking the topics!
Currently the phone has:
Operator version: 7.130.1.174
ROM version: 1.30.90 WWE
ROM date: 02/24/06
Radio version: 0.00.00
Protocol version: 42.37.P8
ExtROM version: 1.30.174 WWE
(Notes: I live in Turkey, and my operator doesn't have video calling function running here, yet. So i can do without it too. I also did an extended rom unlocking and backed-up the orange installation files (1.85mb) from the storage just in case something bad happens and i have to install that again)
Update:
Since i was imnpatient; like anyone with a new device, I've currently installed L26_WM6_PRO_Business_V7_Videocall without problems. The radio version is updated at the process but there seems no problems with SIMLock, yay!
The OS seems better and faster for now, i'll update here just incase something goes wrong.
Update 2:
Unfortunately SmartDial is not implemented and the default phone skin (t-mobile) doesn't support landscape mode. It does support, but the dialpad is hidden by default, that confused my mind. But then again, smartdial still is absent from the dialpad section and the skin sucks and it's harder to call
It looks fantastic when compared to WM5, and some new settings along with auto-installed programs came. And i liked them!...
Now, looking for a proper smartdial...
