My roaming icon started to work properly after flashing Radio ROM 3.02.11.
Anyone else have this working properly?
See my other thread here for explanation.

I would like to figure this one out. Have tried searching through registry to compare my G3 to G4 device. IT IS NOT a registry entry that I can find.
Tried changing ril.dll and rilgsm.dll, cprog.exe, but with no luck. Maybe they need to be cooked into the ROM to work properly for interfacing with roaming icon control. Any other files you all know about that might control the roaming icon

Hi,
I've just received a v1605/Hermes 200 from Vodafone and as usual they have managed to remove some of the most useful things from the Hermes.
I have searched high and low for the default green phone dialer skin, the one that allows for video calling, but I cannot find it anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction so that I can download it?
[EDIT: Found it HTC_TyTN_1.18.255.105_ExtROM contains the default green phone skins for both video and normal phones. I also found the default theme somewhere too (HTC_Default).]
Also, I want to have the task list displayed on the Today screen, but this is not an option on Vodafone (it was there before their customisation CAB's removed it). Does anyone know how I can bring the task list back?
Oh and last but not least, is there a way to get the auto-lock on the Today screen too?
thanks

SOLVED
After trying the various reg edit methods that had been shown, I couldn't get any of them to work. The way I eventually got it to work was to hard reset the device and interrupt the Vodafone customisations, then take a copy of the registry and copy the registry to my computer. I then hard-reset the device again and but time alowed the Vodafone customisations, then I added the missing entries back in the registry.
See below if you'd like to see the pre-Vodafone Today/Items:

Problems using a PC-based registry editor to change settings
Hello,
Please forgive my ignorance here but I'm trying to alter the registry on my Voda compact III (Hermes 200) to show up the task list and key lock etc. When I alter a zero value to a one I am told that "access is denied." I've been using a little free piece of PC software called "Mobile Registry Editor". Is this suitable or should I be going about it in another way?
Also, there seem to be a host of other changes made on this ext-ROM as discussed on other threads so I can't help thinking it might be worth just removing the vodafone one altogether and then simply looking for a patch that allows me to do MMS and video calling without Voda's own Phone app. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Johann.
Vodafone MMS settings CAB won't install
I have binned the Vodafone extrom now and am running without it (I've installed the light blue dialer screen). I'm still having problems with MMS and video calling. Does anyone know which one of the three Vodafone CAB files I would need to install to get this working? I tried to install the Vodafone settings file in the hope that this would enable the MMS and video calling. I've now got an MMS inbox but it won't send or receive so I'm wondering if there're just some little bits of information missing. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Johann.
Hello!
I'm having two interesting problems with my 8525 that has a hybrid ROM.
1) I'm trying to force the phone to show the operator names I have in RIL. I made registry change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting]
"ONSDisplayRule"=dword:00000000
And have all the operator names in the attached registry file inserted in the registry. However, it still overrides all those with "Cingular". Is there some way to force the phone to not show the network names off the SIM? I know it was possible on older phones like the MPx220.
2) I have tried a variety of ROMS, including the TYTN ROM and the network select options are all gone except for find network. On the Wizard, all the ROMS except the Cingular ROM let you manually select your network... I am not able to find a way to force this phone to do that with any of the ROMS out :/ I have also tried different radio stacks - it seems to affect everything. Does anybody know how to knock that out?
Thanks Everyone!
Where do you expect to see your custom operator name? AFAIK that registry change only affects the way the phone shows the current operator's name, e.g. in the pop-up window if you tap on the signal level icon.
Thats exactly where id like to see it posted, along with it showing up in the wireless today snapin. The more irritating part is having network select not show up... everything i tried above didnt yield and results
Does anyone know of the registry fix or plugin or control panel for the XV6800 to change the date/time line on the TODAY screen to a single line?
Get Schap's Advanced Config tool.

Thanks, do you (or anyone) know if this works with the XV6800?? I took a look at the Kaiser tweak programs XML files to locate the registry locations for such things as this time/date single line....and the new XV6800 from Verizon doesn't have many of those registry lines to change.
It should work as it's just registry changes. This tool gives you a nice GUI to work with and does all the registry work for you.
Here's a link to it.
Thanks, I will give it a try and report back when I can...finals week.
I am sorry to say that this program does not work with the Verizon XV6800. In fact I would say about 80 to 90% of the current "hacks" "fixes" for the Mogul do not work on this phone.
If anyone finds a solution please post it....
To the ops of this board....you might have to make a new section for the XV6800, just a suggestion.
The plugin "today time" worked.
I had to turn OFF the WM date plugin and just use that one, but it does the trick. FYI!!
I have tried the wmwifi cab. I did the reg edits to run the phone as a modem. Ive done everything I could find online and I STILL get a disconect at around 10-20 minutes every single time. I have the latest rom and have tried with no 3rd party apps fresh. Does anyone know how or why this happens. As far as I know Sprint has no idea I am using the phone as a modem because of the reg edits. If they do still find out I should be able to fix that no?
"OK I've poked into things a bit more and yes it seems Sprint is up to no good in regards to tethering. Those of you running Sprint ROMs should remove the following registry value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
"Extension"="rilphone.dll"
Usual caveats about editing the registry apply here--don't do this unless you know how."
this is on ppcgeeks from a user named Luv2Chill...
you should take the time to search (ie. google, ppcgeeks.com, pdaphonehome.com, xda-developers.com) to find a solution to your problems...
i'm not certain if it matters as to the rom your using or whateva....but you should be connecting via SPRINT PCS (although PAM isn't a problem...it doesn't really matter)....use a regeditor like PHM Regedit and remove this key...soft reset...and you should be good to go...did this yesterday...after searching almost 5hrs for a solution to my tethering issues.
That reg edit is #1 and I have done it. Its not the problem. Its either something else in the rom or they are doing it on the Sprint end.
Hi Guys,
I've been doing a bit of research about removing the T-Mobile (or any) operator name from my handset/homescreen etc..and have found a number of different apps that can do this. For example Personalizer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359563
which seems to work well exept that it seems to be draining my battery heavily as I beleive that it is an 'always-on' app.
Therefore I've removed it and am looking to do a similar thing via a reg-tweak so as not to need anything running in the background. Before I get flamed for posting an often asked question, I have searched a few other threads for other handsets that have similar registry files as the HD2 and have found some similarites but nothing has worked yet:
http://forum.treonauts.com/palm-smartphones/treo-750/8695-treo-750-registry-tricks-tips-2.html
I've found the CarrierName string in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/RIL folder but altering it with the mobile network code (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Network_Code), doesn't seem to have any effect.
I'm on T-Mobile UK and I beleive my network code is 23034 but I just need to know where to use it and/or if the function is available to me with this phone yet? If anyone can shed any light and or knows a way of doing it without installing any potentially battery draining software apps, it would be much appreciated.
Happy New Year!!

Personalizer only runs at startup and changes one reg key to display your text.

I found my battery draining a lot quicker with it installed. So you use it yourself and haven't had any problems? Either way, if there was just a reg-tweak I could do myself without installing anything, that's what I'm looking for.
Thanks

I have used it before and have not noticed a differnce in battery life.
The REG key it changes every startup is:
HKLM\System\State\Phone\"Current Operator Name"
Change it to whatever you like but be aware it changes back every soft reset, hense why personalizer runs at every startup.

I use the awesome tweak from MysticGenius (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577928) and it works fine for me.
Oh and your carrier string value should be 23430 , have no idea how to get rid of the 3G infront of the Scuderia Ferrari though

Yes 23430, I had it right but wrote it wrong I tried MysticGenius's tweak already but couldn't find the 'OperatorNames' file. I tried altering CarrierName and also tried making my own string but it made no difference. What did you change xavierdemon?
Thanks
All I have in the Reg is:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames
And inside that I have a string value "23415"="Scuderia Ferrari" that's all. Obviously for you it would be "23430"="Whatever text you want"
HTH
No Joy
Ok Xavier,
I did that but no luck unfortunately. I created an OperatorNames file because it didn't exist in the RIL folder and put:
''23430''=''My Message''
as the string, but there was no change at all. I rebooted and tried again but still no difference. Any suggestions?
Thanks
I don't know what to suggest except maybe leaving a message on MysticGenius' tweak post and see if he knows why it's not working for you. Or see if someone can build a CAB for you to input the reg entires, I did try to have a go myself at making the CAB but it's not working at all.
