CoPilot install 'not authorized' - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Hi,
I purchased CoPilot Live 7 to install on my TD2, and when I attempted the install I got the message that "You are not authorized to install this version of the software on this device".
I contacted ALK support but have had no response for a week now.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem? The package I purchased has HTC logo's on the documentation, which suggests that it is the package that comes pre-installed on some HTC devices. If that is the case, is the problem related to the software already being activated/(pre)registered on another device? Can ALK support de-activate the other instance, or do I simply go back to the seller and get a refund unless they can perform the de-activation?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Steve

CoPilot can only be installed on one device at a time. The HTC and T-Mobile versions are specific to certain hardware and aren't easy to swap around as some of the standard features appear to be disabled by ALK. I had some problems with my T-Mobile setup and got nowhere with ALK support - they told me to buy new maps! Fortunately I still had the original activation URL in my internet explorer history and that worked.
Simplest solution is to see if the previous owner is able to generate a deactivation key for you to submit on the CoPilot web pages. Failing that I think you are at the mercy of ALK support...

Sky By Mobile..

Has anyone got this working on a WM5 device yet?
The url's that you go to come back with
"service is not available for your mobile device".. but there are lots of JAR's and JAD's floating around for different phone types..
EDITED:
As I'm not a Vodafone 3G customer - i'm after the SKY TV Guides and the ability t mark something as "to record" and have it automatically recorded at home.....

Can someone explain a bit mroe about this? Is it a service that sky are introducing for their customers, or an extra pay service? Cheers.

Sky by Mobile - Is it possible on Windows Mobile?
By Gears. Published on 10 Jul 2006.
Some of you may be aware of a new service launched by Sky TV recently. If you're lucky enough to have one of their whizzy PVR's then you'll already be used to the live pause and recording to hard disk. However, recently they announced their Sky by Mobile service which allows you to get the latest news and videos from Sky plus you can now remotely set programmes to record onto your Sky+ box. Good eh?
Only one problem though. You need one of these handsets to run the software, and Windows Mobile isn't on there. I'd really like to use this service - I'm always forgetting to set my Sky+ box or I'm away from the house and I can't physically touch the remote. Last night I found this interesting digitalspy.co.uk thread and downloaded this JAR file and plonked it onto my Orange SPV C600. I opened it up in file explorer and ran it in the Java MIDlet Manager. It does actually work, I can load it up and enter my sky.com credentials, however it stops after that - I presume because it can't access the net. I can't seem to get around this and I've tried everything like opening a GPRS connection manually and tweaking with the security settings.
Has anyone else tried this successfully ? I'm trying the JAR file for the Nokia 6230 in this example but Sky hide the links so I've not found any other JAR files to test.
http://mobile.sky.com/SBM/series40/sky_S40_LR_SF_6230/SkyMobile_S40_LR_SF_6230.jar
It installs in the midlet manager, and runs, but does not connect or go any further.
Surur
ive tried the link in a few different browsers, pie, mnimo and the java based opera but no look, just says not compatible with your device, i guess we will have to wait untill the sky.com web based service is available and use the text service in the mean time
got excited when the letter came through the post, its been in the pipeline for about a year or so now
edit: looked at the website http://www.wecomm.com/ who i think are the company that provide the software for the service and they do have other products that work on WM phones, so maybe soon it will be on our wizards!
anyone know whether we are going to get this?
On a similar subject, does anyone have the software program that you need to view your sky channels via broadband? I've just registered for it, but they email the URL to the original email address that was given to them by the account holder, but my Dad never gave them one so I'm struggling to get the software!
Cheers.
I think everyone has given up on this but ive managed to get a collection of installers for various phones, using the user agent tags in firefox.
not managed to get any of them to work though! but thought they may be useful to other people.
edit: ignore this post i cant seem to upload the files!
but if anyone is interrested give me a shout, ive got about 13 different installer files, mainly nokia, motorola, SE an i think one might be for blackberry.

Pocket Mechanic (AntonTomov) - Installation problems

Hi,
I purchased the latest version of AntonTomov's PocketMechanic via Handango and received the registration key immediately after finished purchase procedure.
Installation on my TyTN seemed to work out first (the program accepted the key with a message box and a sound).
But only moments later a message box popped up, telling me I use a pirated version and should turn to the manufacturer, which I did (also mailed Handango).
Meanwhile tried to install PM several times (always removing all traces from both PC and TyTn incl. Registry and rebooted) - to no avail.
Meanwhile received a new serial, but same story again: first accepted and immediately afterwards aborted with Piracy message.
A new complaint mail is on ist way.
Meanwhile I'm asking here if anybody had similar problems in getting the Pocket Mechanics to work on a TyTN.
Appreciating feedback and will let te community know how it worked out for me.
I would not use or buy Tomov's products out of principal.
Found a lot of threads about earlier version doing a hard reset without asking, when inputted a "pirated" serial. So be glad it only shows a box nowdays.
While software piracy is not a good thing, at least for people developing propietary software. Tomov has used a bit too drastic measures to fight
back.

This does not make me too comfortable :-(
I also read a few note about that on the net and a reply by Tomov, complaining that this is not true and only a campaign to cut him off his revenues.
Well, I do not know what to believe, however this uncertainty is also not too comfortable...
Well the Pocket Mechanic way of uses some hardware dependent functions and - if you dare to take use of such - you have to either be very careful and also prepared that they might not work on untested and after all very new (such as the TyTN) devices.
I was prepared for all of that but not that I receive a piracy mail (which somewhat alsmost accuses you of being a software pirate and telling you to mail to [email protected]) when I purchased the software (which I can also prove).
Maybe he uses some hardware related mechanism to check eligibility of the serial and as he hasn't tested yet the TyTN (which he admits) this software won't allow being registered at all. I do not know.
But isn't such a meachanism pure over-kill ?
Actually something like that must be going on as I receive this pop up also after a new install and having purged all remnants from the PC, the PDA and the registry.
If I'd be trying out serials just at random, would anyone think that I'll millions of times do that complete procedure just to find any working key at the end of my life maybe ???
(And if I'd be a professional hacker I'd disassemble the code and be able to work around even these barriers.)
So, applying over-kill measures like that only brings problems to decent users, risking to run into problems when using special configurations or ne devices.
+++
Apart from that I must say that Tomov's applications seem well coded and also graphically very nice (one wonders how graphically nice application you can program for PDAs; shame upon Microsoft for their pre-installed poor applications !!!).
Also I see no real alternatives for some functionality he provided within one software, that's why I purchased the PM.
Finally again my question:
Has anyone encountered the same problems with the PM on a HTC TyTN ?
(btw: Thanks "jeezus" for your feedback.)
Might I inquire which funktionality you need?
Maybe we can find an alternative solution.

[WARNING] To all CoPilot users

Dear CoPilot users,
Over the last month I have been having a bit of a battle with the makers of CoPilot 8, ALK, with regards to my license which I purchased in early 2010.
Like many of you here, I'm a bit of a compulsive phone updater, be it new windows builds, android or this new android NAND stuff.
Anyway, every time I flashed a ROM, I'd have to reactivate Co-Pilot over the internet. No problem. However, one day, it stopped working, saying that my code was invalid!! Much to my horror, I sent ALK an e-mail asking what had happened. Here was my response.

Dear Jon,
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
Unfortunately the reason why you are no longer able to continue activating CoPilot is our Activation server has seen that you have reached the maximum permitted activation limit for a product.
Unfortunately there is nothing further I can do to unlock your Product Key Code to allow for further activations as this falls under excessive uses of activation.

Well, I didn't realise I could only activate so many times before the product was no longer mine. So I did some fishing through my T&C's for CoPilot 8 and there is no actual figure to indicate what "the maximum permitted activation limit for a product" is.
So I replied with an e-mail to that effect, saying that there is nothing in black and white for me to have known this. A month later they finally got back to me and said that I can now reactivate my code.
Now - I can understand what's happened. From their server's point of view, lots of people could be using my code on a large number of devices. So how do you get around this?
Well, every time you go to flash a new ROM, **MAKE SURE YOU DEACTIVATE YOUR LICENSE FIRST**!!
In settings (assuming you have show all settings selected), you will see a license button. Select your map in the list of things and press deactivate.
If you do this then you will be okay. But I suspect ALK will be updating their T&C to prevent this from occurring again.
Anyway, I hope that saves some of you from some potential trouble in the future.
why dont you backup & restore using titanium?
works for me
as far as im aware the activation code is linked to your phones IMEI, so it doesnt matter how many times you change your build, (with the same os) if restoring from backup
this is common practice with drm'd software.
the solution is just not to use it.
In The windows ver .. there is a file called : licp8.dat
That keeps your lic Info ...
Wonder if there is one for thr Android ???
then it will not matter
Just Found This ..
Requirements:
- A *LEGAL* copy of CoPilot 8 for Windows Mobile and the license key
- The latest version of CoPilot 8 for Android (works in Froyo now) Link to ALK Web Site
I bought it about 8 months ago for my HD2, for Windows Mobile 6.5. Great piece of software. I contacted ALK to ask if I could transfer between OS's and they said no, it wouldn't work! It also clearly states on their web site that transfers don't work:
Link
So being stubborn, I thought I'd take my own license from WinMo and deactivate it, stick it into Android and needless to say - it works and I have a fully legal copy of CoPilot 8 running on my Android Froyo device. Those cheeky beggers at ALK!!!
So how to get it working:
•Make sure you still have CoPilot installed under Windows Mobile and activated;
•Launch CoPilot. Go to the Menu|Settings|Licensing (NOTE: If you can't see this, find "More Settings" and select that first to show Licensing);
•Select your Map Region from the list (Mine was UK and Ireland), then press "Deactivate";
•CoPilot will now shut down;
•Boot into Android and using an installer, install the APK file which is in the requirements section at the top of the page or here;
•Open CoPilot from the Menu and it will ask for your license info. Enter this as you did when you first bought CoPilot (usually a username and password);
•Bada Bing. That should be it, all working!
Just to clarify one further time, this is only for legally purchased licenses. No questions about dodgy software please. Thank you.

Is JDB PocketShield no longer supporting Windows Mobile?

I love this program. It can be configured in so many ways and the options are so easy and clear to understand.
I have Protection Edition Version 3.7.0.8 thats newer then the 3.7.0.7 they are selling on there websight at http://www.pocketshield.net/activate.aspx for a sale price of $5.
I think they stopped supporting it. Its a real bummer for me that I can not activate because I had to hard reset again and pocket shield is not liking my original activation code and email. They have not responded to my many emails I sent using the program itself and the contact page on there websight and my yahoo account too. I see they are selling it for only $5 now. I cant find a crack or keygen so I will soon be forced to buy it again. Kind of makes me mad.
I have tried many many other screen lock programs but none come close to pocket shield. They just dont cover all possible situations like PS does.
Does any one have any info on there current standing with us windows mobile users? Have they totally dropped the ball? It would be nice if they would put out a keygen or free version because it seems like they are abandoning us.
They have not abandond us!
It was months ago that I had the problem of them not responding. Today I tried one last time sending them an email about an activation problem. Purposely leaving out any further data. They responded fast asking what program. I re sent my original text with my email and registration code and they responded fast saying I should re try registration now. I did and it worked. I will never know what happened to cause a no response but now I am happy again they have not abandoned us. Thank you pocket shield.
Dude, I was wondering should I buy this software or not, cuz using the full trial verison, got me very high immpresions about PS 3.7.0.7 . If any other simillar program got near PS that was without a doubt S2U2 latest version, but not close enough. The latest S2U2 version (I think its 2.43 if I'm correct) it is not that battery hungry like previous versions, it is much more stable than any other previous versions of S2U2 and it is not eating RAM like previous versions did.
About PocketShield, I did a lots of reading and researching is it good, is it battery friendly, etc. Then I got the trial version of 3.7.0.7 and cuz in those 14 trial period days I didn't have that much time to watch the battery respond to this program. So I will ask you for a little feedback and help with this program:
1. Is it a battery friendly program?
2. Is it a RAM friendly program?
3. What is your personal experiance with using it?
4. Where did you get version 3.7.0.8? When I d/l form their site, it said 3.7.0.7 , but when I install it, it says 3.7.0.6.
If you used S2U2 2.43 you can make a comparassion with that with answering my questions. I have Samsung Omnia i900 with custom light rom WM6.5.3
Thank you in advance
Boris.
1. Is it a battery friendly program?
Yes in fact your battery will last longer with it.
2. Is it a RAM friendly program?
I dont know. I had not noticed any problems here.
3. What is your personal experience with using it?
Most of the time its fine but every 5 months or so it Slows the phone down at times reinstalling it is the only thing I found to get it back to normal.
4. Where did you get version 3.7.0.8? When I d/l form their site, it said 3.7.0.7 , but when I install it, it says 3.7.0.6.
I installed 3.7.0.7 and checked after install and it says its 3.7.0.8
S2U2 does not have near as may options and is not as capable. Once you set up PS to do exactly what you want when you want you will be willing to pay any price for it. It truely does cover all situations and will not let you down.

Well, I came across this page as I found myself in the same situation as above. I recently had to re-install PocketShield v3.7.0.8 after flashing my HTC HD2 to the latest CrossbowHD2 Rom, and realised that I could no longer register my purchased software online. I believe that there's either a count on the number of times you are allowed to use the PIN code for activation, or how many times it is used within a time period before it gets deactivated permanently by JDB.
So like travissand, I sent email after email to JDB and got no response. It's very frustrating because this is the only software I've purchased and installed on my Windows Mobile phone that requires online activation. To add insult to injury, I didn't get it at the current discounted price either.
Driven to desperation, I started searching online for hacks or cracks for this program, none of them worked. Fortunately in the process, I learnt enough to finally figured out what the program activation code checks for. Since I have a backup of my previous phone including it's registry, I was able to modify the necessary registry keys to finally get my new reinstalled PocketShield v3.7.0.8 activated and out of trial/bug mode offline, without requiring server authentication.
I know it only costs $5 to get a new license (assuming they are still handing those out) but I don't really feel like paying another dime when I legitimately paid for and did not pirate the software, Several Windows Mobile developers are simply giving away their previously commercial software since WM5/6 is considered a legacy system. I also hate it that when (not if) JDB decides to take their authentication server offline, you not only can't re-install and activate their software anymore, neither can you switch skins. FYI, you MUST be online to download the skins catalog and to install a skin, even if it was one that you had previously downloaded and installed before. As I mentioned, this is the only Windows Mobile program that I own which has this ridiculous requirement.
[Edit] Don't bother asking me for the Windows Mobile registry keys that the program checks or my license key, PIN or email. This is not just because I don't wish to pirate the program, but also because I believe the activation is hardware specific and wouldn't work on another device... a nasty form of copy protection. Urgh!

Help cracking software on Windows CE Device!

I'm not sure if I am in the right place to ask this, but here goes.
I work for a land surveying company and we have been using a software called C&G to collect data out in the field. The software runs on a piece of hardware called a data collector. To be more exact, it is an Allegro CX made by Juniper Systems. The device is loaded with Windows CE .Net 4.20 along with a program called PocketDOS. The C&G program runs inside of PocketDOS. The software is SUPER old and the company is no longer around to support it. We have no desire to purchase a new software package as this one works just fine for what we need and everyone is used to it.
We have at least 8 licenses for this software, but the problem is, it is coded to register based on the serial number of the Allegro data collector. We have had multiple data collectors go bad, so we are looking to purchase more units, but we will be unable to register the C&G software on these units because the serial numbers will be different.
So my question is, can anyone help me modify the C&G program and make it so that it does not check the serial of the data collector? That way, we can purchase new data collectors and load the software (that we have rights to) on the new units. If the company were around to support the software, we would be able to call them and they would generate new registration codes.
I can send links to download the software, along with any DLLs you might need from the data collector.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!
