Hero roms don't working - G1 General

Hi form about 3 weeks hero roms aren't working on my g1 I try this : JACxHEROSkiv2.1,Hero-V1.5 by Drizzy,MoDaCo. I installing they by recovery and I tried to do wipe before it but every one is reset then go to HTC logo and i only see HTC logo wish is restarting. Why I got this problem ?

Did you wipe your ext3 partition? How about wiping your dalvik cache? You can't just use the wipe from recovery and expect it to work, you need to goto console and wipe ext2/3 and possibly dalvik cache. I don't remember the code to do so but if you search you will find a answer. Have you had ANY Hero roms working before? If not you might not have the correct radio installed. Are you getting a "Boot Loop" or is it just freezing at the HTC logo?

I got Boot Loop I make wipe form console of ext3 and I still got this.

Ok then I would try repartitioning your sd card, then wipe (alt+w) and flash the hero rom you want to try. If that doesn't work then try it without your sd card. This definitely sounds like a wiping problem.

Hero ROMs take an effing long time to boot up on first install. If after 15 minutes nothing's happening then it hasn't worked.
You should see the Hero screen with the green guy, then the HTC screen. If it goes Hero screen, HTC, Hero, HTC then that's a loop. If it's just taking ages on HTC then let it do it's thing.

I see green android then htc logo after this I see black screen and then 2 time green android and sound. I got 2 card 512 mb do I had to make ext3 and swap to test on blank sd ?

Yeah that's looping.
Use these commands from terminal to wipe your ext
mount -o rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd
rm -r /system/sd
reboot recovery
wipe and reflah
If after that it still loops, then it's having issues writing to your ext, in which case your card is the problem. If you can buy a transcend card, don't use unbranded cards or the one that came with the phone.
no you don't *need* ext and swap on hero, but without them you'll have about 20mb for apps and it will be extremely slow.

Thanks it helps for one rom now I can install minimal hero has anybody got .img ?to try install via fastboot

Why fastboot? is the phone not recognising the sdcard?

Ok now it's working I don't have to make wipe then I made it i get Boot loop. Thanks all

Hero Boot Loop 1st splash

Well i flashed my g1 to hero rom by JAC
and now its looping at the screen with the little android guy
what did i do wrong
Can someone help me out please
i made another thread but no ones being nice so no tough love please mods
Did you set your SD card up the way its suppose to be?
Repartition/format your SD card
Copy the update to it
Load Recovery
Wipe
Install
Boot
I had that problem the hero rom don't play well with the g1 I reformatted the card and started from scratch with a more stable rom
Figured i would update this with the knowledge i have gained. Erase the EXT2 / 3 partition then wipe. Load the ROM again and reboot. This should let it pass the boot loop. I had the problem this morning with Drizzy's Hero build and now with JAC's I am running tests with.

GSM Hero boot problems

I recently rooted my GSM Hero and applied ModaCo rom.
I then wiped and put on the Hero BeHero ROM.
When I went to reset my Hero, it stuck on the HTC Hero boot screen
(the one with the waving Androids coming out of the O and H).
I cannot get past that screen, I cannot get to the MENU>POWER menu.
Anyone got any advice how to restore my Hero?
I'm pretty much desperate.
you have an apps2sd partition?

Let's pretend I have no idea what that is
Its probably because you did not wipe the cache option in your recovery as well as data.
Try to flash another rom.. I had the same problem with the Kimera rom...
I wasn't able to boot so I tried to flash another rom and it worked
But before you should try to wipe everything
I get exactly the same problems. Running MoDaCo Custom ROM 2.5 now, with APP2SD and Dalvik cache copied to SD as well....simple wipe to factory settings, applying the Custom 2.1 ROM always makes my phone to lock on the first boot screen. I tried SenseHero 2.1, 2.2, Villain 5.4...always the same....
so actually I need to wipe the delvik cache and apps from sd as well ? how do You wipe Dalvik cache? I got RA-Hero recovery console...
i am about to bet you a case of beer that you have an ext4 partition on your sdcard... remove that or make it ext2/3 and it will boot...

I had no partition on it.
I sent it away to be looked at and they guy in the shop said it was "beyond repair" yet I can see the Hero "waving android" screen (it still won't boot past that).
How do I fix this?

[Q] stuck on a boot screen

my nook is stuck on this boot screen any one wants to help me? here is the image
I would suggest you will need to provide more details about how you got to this state to get folk to help you -
what rom are you running?
what were you doing just prior to this? etc etc
In any event, maybe doing one of the following, depending on what state you want the nook end up at, might help -
install CM7 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030227
restore to stock - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690

cm tried flashing another but got stuck on this screen tried the factory reset but gives me an error and it wont boot into sdcard
i do get the touch something screen
I've got stuck in this "Android" screen when I tried to update my existing CM7. This is what I've done.
1. Boot to recovery.
2. Wipe cache
3. Install the update from SD and choose the CM7 file and google apps
4. Wipe data/factory
5. Format or insert a new sd before re-booting.
I encounter the same error on the first reboot. Booting up the second time solved it. It does hang at the CM logo for bout 5 min on the second boot.

You shouldn't be getting a touch anything screen depending on what CM7 file you are using. Go here and start the process all over. Make sure you use the latest version of CWR (3.2.0.1): http://mrm3.net/nook-color-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-nightlies/

[Q] Black screen after green Cyanogen banner

I'm stuck on a friend's nook.
I've flashed mine about 100 times no problem.
I've put cyanogen on two other nooks no problem.
I'm doing something wrong with this one I guess.
I have a bootable CWM micro SD and I can boot to it no problem, I'm trying to flash the latest nightly.
What I did up to now was flash the repartition data and reformat data zips.
Then I formated system, data and cache.
Then I flashed cyanogen.
I got it to load cyanogen one time!
But when I rebooted I could never get it to load again.
Since then I have formatted the boot and flashed a few different boot fix files.
I'm stumped.
When I boot it now it goes to the green Cyanogen mod banner, than a second later it says 'loading' under that, then it goes to a black screen. I have to hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds after that to shut it off.
So I have a nook that I can boot to CWM v3.2.0.1 from a micro SD card.
What steps should I take to get this thing working again?
What I did up to now was flash the repartition data and reformat data zips.

That wasn't really necessary with CWR 3.2.0.1. I would say drop a copy of the stock 1.3 ROM on the SD card, boot up and start all over wiping data, system, cache and Davlik and then install the stock .zip. That will get you back to the very beginning. Stock full ROM is here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30572895/Nook_Color/update-nc-stock-1.3.zip

Tried that, Now I get 'Read Forever' then a quarter second of the 'N' screen that is Grey then turns a sort of washed out in orange color for a half second, then a message screen that says: 'Install Failed' over a picture of a nook with a red exclamation mark on the screen and 'Please power OFF and back ON again. If you continue to have issues please contact Customer Support or visit www.nookcolor.com/support' Then the device turns itself off.
I had gotten that screen a couple of times leading up to this. Got rid of it by flashing some boot fix files or something.
Something is wrong with the loader or some boot data or something I don't know about.
Can anyone give a step by step on how to take a Nook down to a clean slate then build it back up so I can boot Cyanogen nightly?
I can Boot off a micro SD into Clockwork Recovery.
Those were the steps I took to restore and deregister a Nook recently before returning it for a replacement. However, I never messed with the partitions. Someone familiar with the partition structure will hopefully chime in.
Bump having the same issues. Just started today.
Mine works if I leave it charging, As soon as I unplug it..it turns off.

First tried to install final CM7.1.0 over nightly. Followed instructions here on Opening page Nook Color Android Development thread for this and then tried step-by-step Maurice Mongeon - Nook Color: updated Clockwork Recovery Bootable SD page. I left a similiar comment to this post at his page. Scroll up to see his instructions.

From his site: Everything good from ROM Manager making sure latest CWR 3.2.0.1 until reboot into recovery. Get dark purple-black screen, have to power+n force it into internal CWR 3.2.0.1. Gets through Install from sdcard complete. Mounts and Storage > format /cache > Yes – Format gives me Error Formatting /cache!.
If I try format /system… it hangs. Reboot into CWR again it hangs again at Formatting /system… No way to format system, data, cache from Mounts and Storage to boot into clean new ROM!
I can use – wipe cache partition and – advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache instead afted installing – update-cm-7.1.0-encore-signed.zip (correct checksum) from sd-card. Everything goes OK except it boots back into CyanogenMod-7-08192011-NIGHTLY-encore.
Restoring previous Nandroid from internal CWR or SD CWR also hangs at restoring /system. What should I do? Can not update or get it back to original 1.3 ROM either? Lockups and errors in Mounts and Storage formats stop me! Tried suggestions in this thread using the boot SD version of ClockworksMod Recovery, none of them seem to work. Anybody have any suggestions as to what to do next?
@ Izord and lschroeder.
If you guys absolutely cannot get it going with CM7, I then suggest trying to get back to the original, stock ROM.
If you had formatted /boot, then I cannot help since I never did mine so I don't know for sure but if not, you should be able to bring the NC back in the original stage.

I can not get to stock ROM either, format/system... hangs and I have to hard reboot.
Question for anybody: Can I use ADB or adbWireless to help get around the format/system... error and install CM7.1.0 or Stock 1.3?
Sorry to resurrect an old thread but this is the only place I've found that describes my problem. I'm experiencing the exact same thing with my Nook Color and followed the exact same suggestions without success.
Was this ever resolved? What finally made it work?
This is exactly what is happening to me. I've already posted my problem to another thread but I thought I would comment here in case this thread finds a resolution.

[Q] Boot problem with all Roms

Hello everybody
Just to describe the problem I quote what I've written here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32054164&posted=1#post32054164
Hello everybody
I've got a little problem... after a system crash (don't ask me how that happened) I had to re-flash my ROM. Now, after the reboot the "H" was flashing on my screen and turning around 'n around 'n around... after 30 minutes I plugged out the battery and re-plugged it in. Since then I’m not able to boot into Android, I only get the “Android” Text and Logo on my screen but the “H” doesn’t appear anymore.
I tried to re-flash the Rom and also wipe my device (task29), re-flash clk (I got now the 5.0.2 ClK Recovery) and HBoot. But I’m not able to boot the device. I also tried to flash other CM7 Roms (Partition 160 MB, Cache 5MB) but it doesn’t work for me
Anyone got an idea?

There are two ways of fixing this problem. One way requires you to use Mutty and was technical and mayby had a chance destroy your NAND, I don't remember because it was a while ago I was researching this.
The other solution which is what I recommend and did because it is a lot simpler and easier is to work around your corrupted block. You can do this a couple of ways:
Firstly, a way is to use CLK 1.5 to move a partition over the problem. For instance if you had a bad block around 25 put the first partition recovery partition to 30 MB. Then you can enjoy flashing ROM's again without the NAND problem. I have this solution working now.
Secondly, another simpler way is to use an Android SD ROM to bypass the corrupted block on you internal NAND now and forward into the future.
For more information about bad NAND blocks and to figure out if you have them and where they are go to:

We'll thank you for your fast answer. I tried various sizes of the partitions but none worked for me. I now got a error msg in H Boot "A unrecoverable error occurred" and the phone shots down. Also I don't get any of the "bad block" errors in my recovery log when erazing and re-installing a ROM.
I hope you can help me out
Can I use a SD Rom and boot it via H Boot?
Edit 2: So now after flashing a ROM and rebooting with Clockwork Mod it starts himself, than shuts himself down after a few seconds with the HTC Logo, than boots into H Loader... and always the same error message: "A unrecoverable error occurred, rebooting to Bootloader"

I now reinstalled everything with the American Android starter Kit, installed CLK 1.4.0.1 & RUU 190 _ 5 image (190 system, 5 cache) and tried to flash a ROM.
ClK Fastboot stops saying:
fastboot_init()
udc_start()
-- suspend --
What can I do now?
Yes I already tried to wipe dalvik cache, format boot.... I think the problem must be somewhere else...
Please help me!!
Well it seems that I fixed the problem... I found a old Backup from a new flashed ROM in Clockwork Recovery. I flashed that and my phone did boot again.
Cannot understand what happend. Is it possible that moving the ROM files to flash on the sd card can corrupt them?
