Maybe some easy answering question - how can I change the software buttons (down at the display, left and right) which is now left "Contacts" and right "Internet" to other actions..

With WM5, the softkeys were
Left softkey: New (text message)
Right softkey: Menu
after upgrading my Cingular 8525 to WM6 it is not that useful:
Left softkey: Delete
Right softkey: Menu
In effect, to create a new message I need to select Menu and then New.
Is it possible to assign New to the left softkey?

It might have been in your ROM!
Mine always had CONTACTS on the left and CALENDAR on the right! BTW: The HERMES has a direct MESSAGING button on the top left anyway, so, what does that matter? Next to you can enable the MESSAGING TODAY PLUGIN or assign / remap the buttons yourself!

from there you can set up you soft keys to run the application you want.
He means with the MESSAGING menu, not on the TODAY Screen. Yes, on today it's Left-Calendar, Right-Contacts.

We want it back to the way it was on WM5.

Please oh Please can someone find a fix for this. Who new the geniuses at m$ could find such a simple way to make daily texting so much more annoying.

I want to have on my TodyScreen on the Left-Button, a button, to access the App SecondToday..
But it doesen't work!

As I searched in the Registry, the Keys are setten, but nothing happend!
I maybe reseted the Phone, 5 times!
The left Button, only says "Alle Kontakte" (the german phrase for "all contacts").
What am I supposed to do?

i "as a monkey" followed this info reported in diamond tweaks:
31. Remap Manila softkeys:
HKLM/Software/HTC/manila/
HomeLSKPath, which is the left softkey (Standard = Phonepad)
And
HomeRSKPath, which is the right softkey.
If you change these with the location of the programs you want to link to, and simultaneous change the names:
HomeLSKText = Left softkey text
And
HomeRSKText = Right softkey text.

Im talking about the thin bar at the bottom of the screen that says "phone" on the left and "programs" on the right. Im looking for some way to change it so instead of programs on the right side i have contacts.
There are at least half a dozen apps that do this (depending on if you're using TouchFlo3D or just the standard Today screen), or you can manually edit the appropriate registry keys. Try a search, you should find the answer in a matter of seconds.
In the registry, HKLM/Software/HTC/manila/
Left Soft key:
HomeLSKText
HomeLSKPath
Right Soft key:

Hi there,
I have a big problem with my Softkeys on the X1. By default left and right softkeys are assigned to calendar and contacts... but this does not match with my interests
By changing "left softkey" to "Start Menu" in "buttons" (or "keys", don't know exactly, because I use a german firmware), it opens the start menu... so far so good, but: It always opens the start menu. No matter what a menu says. "Close" e.g. does not close the screen, it opens the start menu
Now I'm useing a tool (called "remap softkeys") and changed the right softkey to comm manager, which works pretty well. Unfortunately I don't know, which command opens the start menu.
My target configuration opens the Comm Manager with the right softkey and the start menu with the left softkey in the homescreen. All options in all other screens which are dedicated to the left and right softkey should be kept.

Ok here's the file you need. Unzip and Map the softkey with the prog you have to Startmenu.exe. I am using this as well. The EXE is NOT made by me, unfortunately I can't find the site where I downloaded it anymore... Anyway it's freeware. Enjoy.

You could have a look at X1BC or my X1ButtonMapper. These programs give you a lot more options regarding button remapping and they are small and for free.
How can i change the left softkey from the twitter tab?
Now it is assigned with "ALL Tweets" but i want to update all tweets with the left softkey.
I searched in the registry I haven't found the right reg key.
Changing the home screen softbutton was easier...
