I just bought a HTC Magic (white one with vodafone written on it) from somebody (used one, not new).
In settings, about I see:
- model number: t-mobile mytouch 3g
- firmware version: 1.6
- baseband version: 62.50s.20.17u_2.22.19.26i
- kernel version: 2.6.29.6-cm41
- mod version: cyanogenmod-4.1.11.1
- build number:drc63
He told me that a part of the OS is on the card and I should not format the card or change it.
My questions:
1. I want to change the card, get a bigger one (I only have 1gb now)
2. I believe I have to change the ROM or something to get microsoft exchange support.
I'm sorry if this is not the right place to ask. Hope somebody can help me out with some info or some links where I have to do some readings.
Thats right. He has enabled something called app2sd, which installs the applications that are normally located on the phones internal memory to the SDcard.
If you format the SDcard or put in a new make sure to reinstall the current ROM or a new ROM. These should be located in the root of the sdcard in a zip format and flashed through the recovery menu which you can enter by powering on you phone while holding home+end.
By the way this is the wrong section, and the thread will be reported. Please use the search function, since this has been covered before.

All you have to do is find a rom which suits your needs, download it, put it on the new sd card, rename it to update.zip and boot in revovery mod (home+end call).
Make sure the rom is 32B version.
Salutari si bafta !
can someone please tell me if the original ROM had support for exchange?
is it possible to return to the stock rom and have all the system to phone memory, not on SD card?

There are some much better roms out there than the stock ones. Just do a little reading here on xda.

Yes, of course.
Ok, that is great, but i need somebody to tell me step by step what do I have to do. I'll have my new microsdhc class 6 card today that will replace the old one of 1gb. What do I have to do next? If I remove the old card now, the android will not boot anymore, something is on that card
Ok, I got my new card, usb reader, everything I need I guess.
What do I have to do next?
problems solved, thank you.
i'm now running a rom with full exchange support.
hello, i hope my thread didnt post somewhere else.
so, i am using hs2 and i installed android 2.2 yesterday and i installed 8 apps on it. everything is working perfect until i installed google eath. i run it and it says that i dont have enough space and it close.. i also remove many apps and i only have 50mb internal memory only. how do i clean android because i wanna install more apps soon!
also how many mb internal memory hd2 has?
is android installed on internal memory of my hd2 thats why its running low now??
thanks i hope to get what am looking for
USA T-Mobile HD2 - 1024MB ROM
Everywhere else - 512MB ROM
Which NAND build are you using? Perhaps it supports A2SD, A2SD+, data2ext, data2sd, if it does one of those, partitioning your MicroSD card and formatting the partition in ext2/ext3/ext4 will give you more space to install applications.

how do i partition my sd? how do i format to ext...
i got 512rom btw uk one
thanks
This is the downside of using NAND rom, the internal memory is very low. My phone is showing about 120 MB available and still I permanent have the icon telling me low disk space.
So there is a solution and that is to partition the sd card? Are there any instructions for this available so it becames part of the OS?. I have searched but could not seem to find the proper thread.
BTW I am using the "desire stock rom":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893620
Have a look at this one. Especially the instructions.
Or search the NAND Forum Titles for App2SD, Data2EXT, ext4, data.img or something like that.

I am not going to explain what it is, but instead, I am gonna tell you what to look at. When choosing a ROM.
Example1:
[15 JAN] -=MDJ's CyanogenMod 7 v. 2.4 [A2SD+][GRH78][RMNET][Kernel: MDJ S10.4 OC]
See the wonderful [A2SD+] that means it uses A2SD+
Example2:
[16 JAN][DAF][ZIP] RAFDROID HD 2.2 [DATA2EXT][Kern:MDJ 10.3][RMNET][UPDATED!]
This uses data2ext
Example3:
[30 DEC][DFT]LEO "Stock Desire" NAND Android ROM
This doesn't use anything, so you are screwed... you run out of space, that's it, SCREWED.
I highly recommend that you read this, and understand what it says.
[10 JAN][RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery for HD2 - v1.2
Because Clockwork makes things really easy for noobs, if you want to call yourself that. It is also used in every Android Devices that I know of, including the Real HTC DesireHD, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Nexus S, HTC Desire, and many more. HD2 users prefer people to do everything for them and package everything neatly, then complain about having to wipe everything away each update.
** [GUIDE] How to format SD-Card to EXT 3 **
bakskj, so yah, you have 120MB left. So unless you know how to put A2SD, A2SD+ or data2sd or data2ext into the ROM you are using now, pretty much, use that 120MB sparingly, that's all you will have.

amazing post . bit i use LEO "Stock Desire" NAND Android ROM so am SCREWED . do i have to install NEW ROM ? and start downloading apss from the bigging? if yes what rom is the best ?xda-developers - Reply to Topic or RAFDROID HD 2.2 ?
whats the difference between these 3 roms? more available internal space?
thankss
Urm, it's hard to say what is the best. I guess look at the screen shot and choose the one that looks the most pleasing?
But you know what, now that you are starting again,
[10 JAN][RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery for HD2 - v1.2
READ THAT... USE THAT...
Then choose a ROM that says CLOCKWORK
-=DOWNLOAD v. 2.4 A2SD+ NAND Clockwork Mod=-
Like that. This way, if you have a small little fix, you don't have to reflash the whole rom, some nice guy/girl might already post up the fix in a nice zip file that you can use clockwork to install.

flashed on nand the original desire android on my hd2. its 2.2ver and i cant save app on sd card. the other 2 ver are 2.3 android right? the last one?
PLEASE NOTE:
There are down sides to using app2sd and data on sd.... Namely you cannot mount the SD Card via usb.
The single best option for having a stable, low maintenance build is projections Stock desire, which has some squashing to reduce the space. HD builds are all flawed for 512mb users because of the size. You either have no space, or you cannot mount your sd card.
Based on that I would always go for a stock desire/evo based build, which give full functionality, but with ~180mb free space. Everybody is so quick to ask for data on sd.... but the corruption factor that is still there, combined with the inability to mount the drive, makes it a no go for many people who are starting out, and will be back on here in a few days asking why they are getting force closes, or why they cannot access SD card via usb.
Good comments

First off thanks for the informative replies. I think I'm gonna go for a partitioned one because more space is essential for me.
What i do want to know is. Is there a fix for those eventual crashes and what not? And if they are really to annoying. Because nothing beats stability.
hi, does anyone know how to move from internal memory to sdcard or install or run thirdparty applications like games on SD card?? i have been searching for about a week now but still cant find a turorial for galaxy 3 GTi5800 eclair.bojh1. all i always see are for froyo thingy!..can anyone share your knowledge to me plss!!! thanks!!

i tried the apps2sd on my galaxy 3 eclair but it doesnt work, it says to partition it and select my desired partion size, my phone restarts but doesnt do anything.
is it ok to upgrade my phone to that version? doesnt it do anything dangerous like bricking it? any disadvantage in upgrading to dat version??
can you tell me how to upgrade it to froyo 2.2???????
well, you could always go to the development section and got to the stickied thread that says READ FIRST and find your info there.
also, you might wanna check the thread below this one.

Upgrade your phone to 2.2. Apps2SD does not work on 2.1. Read both http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858583 and if you happy, then read the full guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778880
This shows step by step method, and is aimed at beginners. Also, remember App2SD can only be used if your phone is rooted
yeah!!! successfully upgraded my phone to 2.2!!!!!!! now i tried running the apps2sd but still doesnt work... my phone is rooted. apps2sd doesnt work... whenever i run it it tells me to create a partion and it shows the partition meter on how much size will i allocate on the partition. i set it then pressed OK then it tells me to reboot..then nothing happens as soon as the phone started again.
1. BACK UP YOUR MEMORY CARD TO YOUR COMPUTER AS THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING!!==== THIS IS IMPORTANT
2. Reboot into recovery (Use Amon RA 2.3==NOTHING OTHER THEN AMON )
3. Select =Partition sdcard=
4. Select =Partition SD=
5. Set swap to 0 (you can leave this at 32mb, I did.)
6. Ext2-size = 2048 (2GB - the 3.0 packages eat up a lot of the internal memory, you can adjust this lower, but 2GB is recommended if you have a lot of apps I did 2 and a half)
7. Select upgrade ext2 to ext3 ===DO NOT UPGRADE EXT 3 TO EXT 4=====
8.. Now go back and mount your SD card
9.. Place all your files back on the card. Also add the ROM, PRI 1.77 downgrade is recommended you will have WAKE ISSUES IF YOU DON'T.
10. If you have to flash the PRI, do so now and reboot. If not, move on.
12. Wipe everything you normally would prior to flashing a new rom.
13. Flash Kingdom
14. First boot takes about 3 to 5 mintues to get started.
15. ENJOY THE ROM FOLKS
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST OTA RADIOS.
THIS IS FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO WERE HAVING ISSUES WHEN THEY PARTITIONED THERE SD CARDS AND THERE PHONES COULDN'T BOOT THE ROM.
THOSE THAT HAD THE ISSUES MUST OF UPGRADED EXT 3 TO EXT 4 WHEN THEY PARTITIONED. IT'S NOT THE ROM IT WAS USER ERROR PEOPLE.
IF YOU DID UPGRADE EXT 3 TO EXT 4 YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BOOT THE ROM YOU GET STUCK AT THE BOOT SCREEN AND IT WILL HANG. ONLY WAY TO FIX THAT IS TO WIPE THE SD CARD AND RE PARTITION.
DO NOT BLAME THE DEVS FOR SOMETHING YOU DID WRONG. THANKS
THERE IS A GFX FIX THAT SMOOTHS THE ROM OUT. GET IT THEN AFTER THE ROM IS INSTALLED REBOOT TO RECOVERY AND WIPE CACHE AND DAVLIX CACHE FLASH AND YOUR ALL GOOD. I WILL POST THE ATTACHMENTS TONIGHT FOR YA.
IF YOU ARE ON THE NEWEST KINGDOMS SUCH AS 6/22 OR GREATER NO NEED FOR THE GFX FIX. HOPE YOU GUYS LOVE KINGDOM.
I am not liable if you brick your sd card I don't know anyone that has so have fun folks.
Hope this helps stop people from hammering virus and dogging the rom's.
It's funny how people on the kingdom thread ask for directions but never look in the general threads to flashing kingdom or browse the threads on there for the info. Kingdom works fine.

part of the issue is that as a noob to rooting and flashing we are overly excited and are full of questions. i love the kingdom roms and hate that i can not ask questions in the thread regarding any issues i may be having or even a simple question like how to properly flash it. ive attempted to use the search thread and still its confusing. so i appriciate it when i come across something like this that teaches us noobs how to do it. a little instruction goes along way. ive tried to navigate the xda site on my own and have actually learned more through thread such as this than i did going solo! anyway thanks for all the help hope to pay it forward someday

So I'm getting a new 32gb card and was wondering if I have to put everything from my old card on if I want to start fresh. I think the only thing I'd want move back is my latest nandroid backup.
Also do you still recommend to repeat step 7 three times?

I use the applications in the menu. When you check everything . Titanium doesn't read the same as the applications. I have 220 free ram left. Internal 210 left
You are partitioned you won't get a low mem message saying your outta ram.

I mount in recovery?
I upgraded ext2 to ext3, says it's complete, then I went down to "Mounts", then "Mount /sdcard"......did nothing but change to "Unmount /sdcard".
Nothing else has come up.
Am I suppose to just reboot after the "ext2 to ext3" is complete?
Just enabled "USB-MS" and my SD card came up.
I don't know if that's something I should have done a while ago, but it looks like it's transfering all my .zips and my Titanium Backups to the SD card.
Maybe add that option to the tutorial for dopes like me who didn't have the USB-MS function enabled!

Ya after u mount you enable usb from the main menu of amon copy ur stuff back over. Your good to start flashing just make sure you wipe like you normally would prior to flashing a rom.
Downgrade pri then flash rom and so on
can someone link me a how to or guide, i have the android on my sd running smoothly but i beed a guide on how to install it to the phones internal memory, i mean do i have to install windows stock rom in order to get it on the phone? or can i install it like it is now??? i just dont see any info on this partiicalluar situation
you cant (easily) move an sd build onto nand. You would probably do better to backup your contacts and stuff and go find a NAND rom you like the look of. start fresh.
i guess what im asking is there anything i need to do to prepare the device for the internal android install? i dont wanna copy and paste the install from sd to internal but im asking do i need to install windows 6.5 the original rom first or ican i just flasj it aka load it how my phone is now??? this i havent encoutered yet, and i want to make sure im doing all my steps right, if i need to just find a rom (NAND) and install it how they say???
and btw, the sd andorid version said it was nand but just on a sd build, weird huh? lol im also hearing that some of the sd builds are running faster than the NAND internal ones, can anyone speak of this?
ah well you may find that there are two download links in the thread perhaps? cant really comment, never taken much notice of sd android, , it never worked through haret/winmo for me, so i went straight to nand.
im using the gingerbread 2.3.7. by the way, is there any new ones or ones that you reccomend? im not picky just want somethign stable, fast and nice, htc sense or not doesnt matter let me know NAND btw

which one? half the roms are 2.3.7, just saying 'im on gingerbread 2.3.7' doesnt help much, , ,, far better to give the name, since there are so many variants.
here is the one i have
http://hottipscentral.com/how-to-install-android-gingerbread-2-3-7-on-the-t-mobile-htc-hd2/
is that the process you followed? If yes, then its already on nand rom. That article is about flashing typhoon (one of the most popular roms) to nand.
yes i followed it to a Tee, lol so your saying its already on the internal phone memory??? ok then so your saying i can take out my SD and it will still boot? hmmm and typoon is what the zip file i have says, can you help me a bit further im following you so far but want to make sure im seeing this right and doiong it step by step thx for replying
watch the video at the bottom of the page from youtube thats on there, thats the step i followed
sorry this is the one i have installed not sure how i got the other , but this is the correct one :Cyanogen MOD 7 Gingerbread 2.3.7
yea thats NAND. there isn't an sd version of typhoon.
yes you can take your sd out and it should boot. (if you have an EXT partition on your sd card ((i didn't watch the whole vid, but it wasn't mentioned)) then any apps you have installed wont be there till you reinsert teh sd card.)
you need to read read read, there are four or five important parts to nand android.
bookmark THIS starting point, and start browsing threads in the Q&A section and NAND development.
basically, your key components are
hspl 2.08.hspl - don't touch this again, android wont work on any other.
radio - fine, you wont need to touch this again any time soon, as with the hspl.
magldr, hold power to start it, the only option you will use is 8 - ad recovery, which starts cwm
cwm (cwr, clockworkmod clockwork, clockwork recovery) which is what starts when you choose AD recovery in magldr, you flash your roms from here, wipe your data from here, factory reset (back to android, not a real factory reset), , you can usb transfer in cwm, the one in magldr corrupts large files.
The cwm 'partition size' is 150 ( i think thats what he chose?) This is the inportant piece of info you need if changing to a different rom, since different roms need different sized system partitions.
You can change this in the tookit you used.
thx thx and thx!!! thats what i needed to know
Check out EasyAndroid, with it you can flash NAND Android from stock HD2 in 30min.
I like useing the clk loader as you do not see it load as you boot the phone, and you can use the android boot to recovery option.
if you already have and SD Android i would download TitaniumBackup and make a backup of all of your aps, as you can use this to save your aps across any Android Rom.
Have fun with NAND Android,
