Hi,
I just watched Qt demo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qhba1lhBllM
What is the name of the ui component that the guy flick through (with nice animation just like a jukebox) before bringing up the demo application. I would like to code something like this for window mobile. Is Qt has this ui component? Else anyone has any idea how to code it? I know it's probably using opengl es to do the animation (may be the whole thing is opengl es). I have htc touch diamond and htc does has something similar for their audio manager which is why i wanted to do something similar. Any helps is appreciated.
Thanks.
Kind regards,
Stephen
There are a couple applications out there that I've seen that have that effect. Two that come to mind are A_C's S2P and Thundershadow14's PictureFlow.
S2P (older version has it...newer version has coverflow effect disabled since he's still working on it)

PictureFlow v0.7

Hi SeanFromSoCal,

This is my first contribution to the Windows Mobile community. My testing so far is limited to an HTC Touch so I am hoping it works on most other QVGA phones.

Anybody give this a try yet. I'd like to know if anyone finds it useful before I start developing new features.

I can test it for you!
Hello,
I found your little app quite interesting, seems simple and intuitive.
I will test it, and give it a try for my next poker tournament. =)
I'll come back to you to give you my appreciation / comments.
Thanks for your good work!

Hope for an update

I'd love to try it out, but as with the user above, my diamond runs at vga.
Would really love to see a vga version, as this is one of the apps ive really wanted for my phone.
Thanks for your contribution!
Since binning TF3D in favour of Mobile Shell 3, the main thing I have been missing is the tf3d audio manager. I have been searching all day and come up with a load of qvga cab and some skins. It seems the skins I have found are for an earlier version and not compatible with the newer one. I found a VGA audio manager over in the athena forum but it was an older build not supporting album art and the menus are not so finger friendly. The only 2.2 versions I could find were qvga and so not really usable in the top left of the screen. Yes I have s2p and tcpmp and core and nitrogen and windows media player, but I like the library feature of HTC Audio Manager. So if anyone can point me to a cab I would be most great full.
Edit: see post no.5 for a fully working .cab by member onlinespending
Coincidence enough, I found this today:
http://rapidshare.com/files/191970484/HTC_Audio_Manager_2.2_1822.3925_L0.cab
I downloaded it just to see if there were viruses, and I didn't find anything, but I didn't install myself. Since it's on Rapidshare I would be extra careful. I can't say if it's QVGA or VGA, but it's a start!
If not, v.2.0 is available from PPCKitchen: http://www.ppckitchen.org/forums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=1&id=37
Hope this helps a bit.
Thanks for the links, I will check them out. In the mean time I just found this one which I am installing first.
So I tried the pdaviet audio manager and it is the old version again. I downloaded the one from the above rs link and it is the newer version but only qvga. So I re-sized all the images in the cab with this tool and then copied them into my windows folder and this is what I have ended up with, not quite right, does anyone else want to have a crack at it?
You can't just resize the images, you need to edit the XML files as well.
I just did this and here is the file.
HTC_Audio_Manager_2.2_1822.3925_L0-VGA.cab
Thanks onlinespending, that works great on my 6.5 rom.

Thank you very much, you make it sound so easy, I had a look at the xml files but it was over my head. And I confirm that this now works 100% including album art!

Glad you like it! Thanks for finding the standalone Audio Manager 2.x cab. Now that a lot of people use the WM6.5 titanium over TouchFlo2D/3D, the embedded Audio Manager will no longer work. I agree that Audio Manager is more finger friendly and nicer to navigate than WMP. But I can't flick through my songs very easily. I have to use the side scroll bar. Are you experiencing the same thing?
Yes, I know what you mean, the tf3d version is still better to use, especially the slide along bottom bar and being able to flick to the next track but this is still a big improvement for me. I tried all the mp3 players I could find and found pocket player to be the best but it takes ages to load and is quite heavy on the processor and therefore on the battery compared to audio manager. As for scrolling with the dreaded side bar, I now use GScroll which is really great, but still needing a few tweaks, it adds a lot of functionality to the capacitive touch pad. Any way a few nice VGA skins and I think we have a winner. Thanks again for taking the time and effort to sort it out.
Wonder how it is on WVGA?
Skins
I found a few VGA skins here, but I have not installed any of them yet, I suspect they are for the older version. They might be worth a look as food for thought to anyone thinking of building a new skin.
Is this cab working with the Titanium Audio Manager panel plugin...??

widen scroll bar
i like audio manager much more than windows media player and the audio manager included with manilla. thanks for this great cab. do anyone how i can widen the scroll bar, i would like to make it more finger friendly, if its in the XML, then which xml and what settings or line do i change, thank again
Is there a WVGA one for X1? The cab extracted from Blackstone is not working on X1.
Any update or newer version than can finger scroll with wm 6.5?
Do I still need Manilla to run it?
Anybody know how to disable album art?Its freezing the player and its one album art for all tracks which is annoying.Cheers
here's a WVGA version, usable for example on Xperia X1 stock ROMs.

the omnia 2 is out and there seems to be so many applications and skins worth porting. some of what cought my attention is
1-totally skinned and finger friendly to replace all aspects of widows mobile interface. the basically did what MS should have done ages ago
2-the amazing video and sound editer
3-video player with support for mpeg4 and xvid
4-the fingerfriendly image viewer
5-the task switcher
6-the cube interface, L&W modes and the touchwhiz2
7-other apps like podcast&RSS , OCR for recording contacts information, new music id medomi application, new file explorer and calander
video and more info http://pocketnow.com/review/samsung-omnia-ii-i8000-1?p=2
so, where can we download the omniaPro/ii ROMs so we can start extracting the cabs and packages to port them to our devices

very true matey ... it would be awesome if someone can port the apps to htc touch hd ....
How about the skinned file manager, and midomi?
im having an issue finding the ROM bbut there are people over here who already have the omnia 2 would someone post instructions on how to dump the installed rom so they upload it for us.
there is a lot of thing to like about their customized software
I would love to see some of these application on my Touch Diamond. The skinned file manager, and Touch player especially!
I would probably kill for the task manager...thats what I've been craving for months now. Also the SMS and Email app is a must have. Don't want the phone..just the software
The resolution is different, so it's very hard to port these apps to Omnia I
I've watched PocketNow's Youtube i8000 software tour and it is simply incredible. I've heard quite a bit of negative things about the Omnia II i8000, but the software tour provided by PocketNow really made it shine.
The interface was very fast (in some cases, as fast as the custom ROMs available on XDA) and the available software was simply unreal. The video editor and cube were particularly nice, but I believe Samsung also got the first Windows Mobile version of Midomi ever making it that much better.
I can't wait for the QWERTY Samsung B7610 to finally come out.
i found this thread. the omnia II rom dump is uploaded in mediafire here
hope this is enough for people over here to start
some apps are already extracted here http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=7f364dce2089ae8a4c17ca8801618ef78fe1cb5b49933873b8eada0a1ae8665a
Phonebook.rar
Powercalc.rar
Sfondi Omnia II - WQVGA.rar
Smartmemo.rar
TCalendar.rar
Tclock.rar

Phonebook.rar --didnt really work
Powercalc.rar -- worked fine
Smartmemo.rar --didnt work
TCalendar.rar -- worked
Tclock.rar -- didnt work
will test again later when i flash to a 6.1 rom
Omnia 1900 test results:
Phonebook.rar -- Loads but app is in VGA.
Powercalc.rar -- Loads but app is in VGA.
Smartmemo.rar --Didnt Not Load, No errors message, just a [Ping] sound.
TCalendar.rar -- Loads but app is in VGA.
Tclock.rar -- Loads but app is in VGA.
Looks real nice though, if only they worked in wqvga.
i added a picture of my xperia in the first post
also a cool guy posted a nice story about all this in pocketnow. i hope now we get enough attention from the devs here to port the rest
http://pocketnow.com/news-archive/samsung-omnia-ii-apps-being-extracted-for-other-devices below is part of the story
Samsung Omnia II Apps Being Extracted for Other Devices

There should be more developments once they dump the ROM and more people get involved, which is the main focus of the thread. Visit the MoDaCo thread and keep an eye on the dedicated Omnia II extraction thread at XDA for any progress and to test the apps.
How many of you are waiting for a functioning Midomi app to be ported? I know I am. Hopefully patience pays off.
In case you missed it, check out our full Samsung Omnia II review.

Has anyone tried these on the Diamond?
Update: Tried TCalendar and Phonebook. TCalendar seems to work at first glance looks really nice, however, I cannot add any appointments or anything and the menu softkey makes the screen go crazy. Phonebook just gives me a a black screen with only the keyboard button in the down right corner.
Need Midomi..
Downloaded and tried Tcalender. ..
It worked as u can see in the pic, but it fails to creat new appointment or to access the menu soft key ??? apart from the first home screen nothing else is working.
Edit: I have Xperia X1i, Official R3AA UK ROM
Tested the TCalendar on the HTC Touch Diamond 2 (Topaz) with the Custom ROM Topaz Essentials
Viewing of the Calendar works fine (although quite slow) - but opening the menu or adding a new entry does not work
Oh.Can't dl from mediafire
who can upload to rapidshare for a mirror?
Only need the Part02 Disk1 dump files(part1.rar part2.rar part3.rar)
thanks very much!!!
I just want to search into the dump folder for any other files needed to load the apps!
Just a quick update from a Touch HD running pkoper's EPS HDX WM6.1 ROM:
- TCalendar: starts, shows appointments (in all views), looking good. Navigating to dates works. Menus, however, don't work properly. And it's all in Hungarian.
- TClock: doesn't start ("components not found").
N.
i think these compressed executables are missing other supporting files thats why they are refusing to run. a proper cab of each of the omnia application need to be created. lets keep an eye on the modaco thread for now

hi,
is there something like a library for a fingerfriedly ui?
to get an ui like in the app "fingerfriendly menus" or "shopping cart".
i like to program for win mobile and especially for my blackstone.
but i'm not too much used to ui programming.
thx for your help!
something like this?

Nevermind, I got it wrong.
Hi all,
I'm a c++ / c# and OpenGL developer. I was looking into developing an application for Windows Mobile 6.1+ which mimics the HTC interface (gray-ish background, finger friendly buttons, sliders like slide-to-answer, etc..). I've tried the most naive method, using picture boxes with backgrounds and mousemove events for sliding controls.. but the result is kinda sluggish with flickering problems.
So, I was thinking about using OpenGL ES for drawing all of the form controls as textures and then using opengl to animate in a smooth way.. but then I tought: is this the way Manila works outside the today plugin? Like all the various applications found in Manila 2.5/2.6..? Or there is a better way of doing things?
Thanks for the brainstorming,
Michele
im fairly sure its open gl. i dont think the 3d effects in tf3d could be achieved otherwise.
do you think is it the same for programs like HTC Messaging and HTC Slide to Answer too?
