Auto answer - how to stop it - noob question! - Touch HD General

Hi all, long time viewer, first time poster, so initially I would like to thank everyone on here for generating such a useful forum!
Onto my question. Mytouch hd answers automatically when you pick up the phone... more detail required proabbly, if it is resting on a flat surface ie a table and starts ringing it will answer the call when you pick the handset up. This is quite a neat function except for when you don't want to answer the call for whatever reason.
Does anyone have a solution to how i turn this off. I have used the search function, however sadly to no avail.
Thanks
M

Go to Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Phone
Then go to the "More" tab and uncheck the box under "Automatic Pickup"

one reason why ..
you phone is answering on auto...check following, if it is selected.( and untick if selected...).
go to ....start ....settings...select phone icon. ( about middle of page )...under personal tab ( this tab is at bottom of bar )...you will then see on next page at bottom of bar ....a few selections eg..phone, services, network,band,pin/pin2 ,time zones ,then a tab "more " ...select "more "( if you cannot see " more " you have to scroll on with arrows below )....check following settings...automatic pickup...then a check box with.... answer incoming calls without pressing ... etc..etc...
if this is not the case ,then check for ...
a third party software ..for eg. a "tweaking " program etc..installed on your phone ..that has been config to answer automatic...
good luck

Thanks guys, I had already checked this one out, and the box is not checked. I guess I will have to have a look on the pphone and try and find some third party software. THough I must admit I can't see naything on the programmes list, and I am not good enough to get into the config settings using file explorer... any suggestions??

Vibrate on ring and 1 handed texting

I am after a utility, preferably free, that will enable the XDA2 to vibrate when it rings.
At the moment the only way I can get it to vibrate is by selecting it from the volume menu, but this then mutes the ringer.
Also I am after a utility similar to finger clix that will allow you to write a text message one handed.
Any ideas would be welcome.
Cheers

No need for a utility - just go to Start -> Settings -> Phone, and in the first drop-down list select "vibrate and ring".

This is more difficult. There is no T9 style text input program, probably because nobody has the necessary database. The only thing that might help you is the Full Screen Keyboard by Spb (see http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com ).

Concerning your vibrate whilst ringing problem, I know a GREAT free app that lives right here on this forum, if you haven’t come across it yet its called PocketZenPhone, the thread can be found here, its very long, right now it's at 45 pages   so I recommend you start reading from about 20 odd pages back to get the gist of where the app is heading in the future.
This program allows you to set up 5 different profiles for example vibrate, quiet, normal, loud and off. It has the ability to control both BT and Radio.
Anyway now I’m just rambling, just go check the program out.
You can download the latest version from here.
Thanks for your responses guys,
I can't believe I missed that phone setting, what an idiot.
I'll have a butchers at pocketzenpone to, thanks.

Tips & Tricks

Thought this might be a good place to start listing any quick tips and tricks you might have discovered.
To Lock Device quickly
Keep finger on the Red (Call End) button and it will bring up some options including keylock.
Not sure if anyone's noticed this but when I end a call on my Dual there is annoying little delay of about 3 seconds before the actual call is ended so I searched the registry and found this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE\PhoneExtendSetting]
And I changed the value of EndCallTime from 3000 to 1000 re-booted and voila no more delays when ending calls
Hold the on/off button for soft reset.
Smart Dialing
This is an advertised feature but apparently not too many people are aware of it. Go to the phone app and start tapping the first couple of letters of the contacts name and the name matches will appear for you to choose from. I find this much easier than opening up the Contacts app and scrolling down to the name you need.
after pressing send for phoneapp u see last calls.
If u press left/right on the highlighted contact the phone switches through home/mobile/office...
HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Biotouch\ regulates the FPS of the cubeanimation.
Change "DownFPS", "LightFPS" und "UpFPS" to something higher for a smoother (and faster) animation.
Disable 3G, if not needed (it drains the battery faster than GSM):
Edit the registry key HKLM\Software\OEM\UMTS\OpMode and set it to "1"
Then also you could change that setting
Phone Settings --> Band --> Network Type --> GSM
To activate the changes, open the comm manager from the Cube, disable the phone and enable it again.
In italy with Vodafone I can't able to select also the Network Band GSM/UMTS to "GSM(900)" but I have to let it configured as "Auto" or "GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)"

Ello, new here.. no idea if this helps a few Dual owners but..
Apps found to work on the touch dual:
S2u2 (iphone slide to unlock app), works like a charm:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343256
HHC, HTC Home Customizer (name says it all), also working like a charm:
http://www.pocketemu.com/download4.html
gfreek, thnx for the EndCallTime key, works perfect and.. 1 less annoying feature to go
Things I'm still looking to solve:
1. Mp3 ringtone seems to fade out after picking up a call, for about 2/3 seconds the ringtone is still audible :S
2. Looking for settings for the Handsfree profile, i have an Lm959 bluetooth bracelet (how geeky, i know), works fine.. but only for calls, the device is capable of blinking the leds on receiving msgs, im looking for the settings to enable just that on the TD.
3. Polling frequency of the TD seems to be on the high side, f.e. it takes about 3 rings from someone before the TD starts "ringing", since voicemail kicks in @ ring 6 I miss a lot of calls.
I found a topic about just this problem with the touch(Elf) on sprint networks, with a quickcode (##7380# I think, well.. I'm not on sprint..so that doesnt work over here.. anyone with any clue would be welcome.. My current solution is disabling voicemail..)

to do this quicker go to settings => long press end key
and select automatically execute and then lock device
holding the red button then locks the device in one press
You can invoke s2u2 instead normal devicelock
just install s2u2, rename Slide2Unlock.exe to EndKey.exe and copy all files to windows directory, with resco explorer.
the ilock doesnt seem to be working on my touch dual. when i try to go to settings, the screen goes blank.
You need to disable directdraw, do it via the registry as you can't access the settings.

Go with Total Commander to:
\\registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\CommManager and change the key
"SupportedFunctions" from 4 to 5
then make a new map named "5" (without the quotes)
go to that map and make a STRING named "default" and the string must
be "3G" (also without any quotes).
Then turn the phone off and on again and there is a 3G setting in your CommManager. I did not manage yet to add a icon in front of it
(and also not tested the working of the new setting)
Thanks, someone also pointed me to Schaps' app that has that setting http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070

ah found it, at least for UK Orange people:
Please bear in mind that the following code is only valid for phones on the Orange UK network.
The code to set the length of time your phone rings is:
**61*07973100123*11*??#
Where ?? is the time in seconds, e.g. to set the ring time to 30 seconds you would type the following code at the standby screen then press the green send button:
**61*07973100123*11*30#
To make your phone ring for only 10 seconds:
**61*07973100123*11*10#
The code works in 5 second intervals, i.e. you can set 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 & 30 seconds.

Screen On when SMS recieved

On friday my trusty MPV M3100 decided to give up the ghost, so as I was in London I decided to look for a new phone and picked up an Touch Diamond 2.
And I have to say; I love it.
Best phone I've had and even the lack of a hardware keyboard hasn't bothered me.
There is only one thing which has caused me some bother; on all my previous phones when an sms/mms has been recieved the screen will turn on for a while to alert me of this, however I can't find a way to do the same thing with the TD2.
The reason I would like this is down to me mostly leaving my phone on silent but in line of sight. The silent factor is because I'm often doing things with headphones on (such as at work) and I'm not going to hear the tone anyways.
So, while the green light is nice and all being able to have the screen turn on as an option would be nice..
As a coder by trade I've been poking around to see what I could do to let me do this myself, however if someone has a better solution or knows of an app which can already do it then I'd appricate it if they could tell me
There is a setting in:
All Settings->Personal->Sounds & Notifications->Notifications
Then select Messaging: New Text Message from the drop down list, and there is an option there "Flash Light For: x Minutes"
This might be what you're looking for?
thanks for the reply, however I'd already found that option and it only effects the green light which flashes when you get a messag; nice and stuble in keeping with the device but not what I'm after
Look for this registry value
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\DisableSMSWakeUpEvent
It should be 1, set it to 0
ah, excellent, thanks
just curious what program you guys are using to edit registry values...
sorry if this is a stupid question, but i'm new to Windows Mobile.. up until the D2 i've always have symbian phones.
I just did a google for "win mobile reg editor" and installed PHM Regedit to do the job.
Although I'm going to write a quick app to let me toggle this particular setting I think (i'll probably post the resulting cab/exe here encased others want it)
I'm using Total Commander (I just started editing the registry). What do you guys use for making a CAB file?

Thank Oruam, great tweak.
I currently have the option selected to display a new sms message on screen as soon as it arrives, is it possible when i hit reply to get the device to go to the touch flow threaded messaging system rather than the WM6.1 default?
Thanks guys!
Is there any way to have it vibrate & play a sound, but not enable the touch screen? The reason I ask is that I dont want the screen to come on while it's in my pocket etc, and things start to get accidentally pressed!
Awesome! Thanks!

I'm sorry ormz.
I'm interesting for that option to have flash light blinking when sms/mail arrives, unfortunately I haven't got the option you mentioned into my settings referred to "new SMS".
I've got the original rom installed (italian version).
May I arrange same setting/option into register also if I haven't it on display?
Could someone help me?
lock the device:
"real lock" - press the hang button (the one on the right) until it shows unlock at the bottom left side
stand-by - press the power button only for 1 second and the screen will go off. When receiving a message, the screen stays black. To see menu-s again, press again power button for 1 second
someone could tell me how to make it works with email event?
You guys might check S2U2 found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=527523

HTC JADE (Unlocked, but original orange rom)

Like the majority of the uk Jade owners, I'm stuck with an orange rom that is more of a hinderance, than a pleasure to use. I have found an idiotic way to get around the ridiculous wifi or 'unique' service that orange has restricted all it's users, to. I shall explain briefly how I perform such a repetitive task:
(These Settings have to be done after the Wireless symbol has turned red-otherwise you'll have to the repeat the steps, again)
1)Start up unique by pressing toggle to right
2)Click 'Settings'
3)Click 'unique manager'
4)Click 'Advanced settings'
5)Click 'Network Adaptor'
6)Using cursor, scroll to 'SWC IM (UKSC\TNETW12511)'
7Change from 'The Internet' to 'Work'
8) Exit back to the beginning comm manager screen
(Here's the repetitive bit)
9)Click on 'Settings'
10)Click on 'Unique Manager'
11)Click on Advanced Settings
12)Click on 'Network Adaptor'
13)Scroll down using the cursor button to 'SWC IM (UKSC\TNETW12511)'
14)Change the option at the top of the screen to 'The Internet'
As you can appreciate, this is very repetitive; Anyone got any ideas where I can get a rom that works perfectly without having to keep following these steps? It just seems like Orange is trying to wind it's customers up!!
Also, silly question, but does anyone know where I may get touchflo 2d with the weather widget on the homepage? It bugged me when I first got the phone, but I've given up on the whole idea, now, but it'd be good to know, once and for all, if I can do it. (I do have m2dc, but the themes with the home weather widget on it just goes completely out of alignment and messes the entire screen up.)
Anyway, thanks for reading and it'd be good to see if I can resolve this latter issue.
Regards,
Nick

1. it is store at my device/my documents
2.if u r using s2u2, it will show at the end of the conversation. But for only 1-2secs. If you want to check, you can go to Call History to see.
3.Rightfully, the device light sensor(beside the speaker) will automatically put the screen on off when u place ur ear against the phone. If not, u call press briefly once on the power button at the top to off ur screen.
4.Not sure. Mayb u can try manual network selection instead of auto (Phone settings > Network)
5.Not sure what you meant. But you can dismiss those notifications from the home page.
Hopefully it helps.
thanks for the replay buddy
