Who can make task manager that looks like Flip 3D from Vista using PocketCM Framework. It will be very useful
I don't think that it's too hard to make
Forget about Dynamo 2, it's ugly and not 3D

Well can't you start, since you got the idea?
oh!
it's hard to code it using JavaScript
i started to make apps many times, i hate VS and C#
old Borland C++ Builder for life!
well if you use the search tool or go like 3 to 5 pages back... youll see a post that i have about dynamo2... its very similar... if you ask the original author, he might let you pick up where he left off... its an awesome program... it just needs to be lighter in weight, updated, added landscape support, less bugs, and added features... it sounds like a lot, but the program is already off to a great start and is very usable in the current state that its in

Err, you should probably read someone's full post before chiding them about using a search tool, since he specifically mentioned he didn't like Dynamo 2 because it wasn't 3D. Plus it doesn't sound like he has a lot of experience with programming, so adding effects into Dynamo probably would help him much.
As an aside, do you know the author's email address? It'd be nice if we could get the source code for that.

i didnt see that he mentioned dynamo... but i wasnt chiding, i was merely directing him in the direction of my reference. theres enough ppl on xda who yell at the search challenged, thats never my aim. i like helping when i can. i just thought that the code itself might help a developer with the task of creating something vista like. im not sure the direct email address but the support email address is [email protected]...
although dynamo isnt 3d... it is still very fingerfriendly... maybe whoever takes on this task can set a preference option... 2d and 3d.
everyone who is interested in helping to notify the developer to continue work on this great app, please email him/her
i would like to see more work done on this.
im diggin the way sony is making thier little task manager, well i dont even know if it is a task manager or not yet, it might just be some application selection screen included with all the erricson bloatware:
http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/10/video-sony-ericssons-xperia-x1-panel-interface/
a task manager leik that one seems sweet thou. lol.. lot to ask thou.

I would if I could find his actual email address. the [email protected] one seems to be dead.
Update: It looks like the website admin is trying to get marek (the author) to release the source to google code. Anyone willing to take a look at it and see if they can work on it for future improvements?
I think that dynamo isn't a good way to go - it's horribly slow (at least on my wizard). GVC's idea about using pocketCM framework might be better. Just imagine this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365656
as a task manager It looks great and what is more important - it's really fast, even on slower devices.
Also, since it seems to already be in 3D, achieving different thumbnail transitions (like flip3D) should be possible. However IMO flip3D effect is rather useless. I prefer to use a coverflow-like task switcher (and i do use it on my Ubuntu - looks like this).

I would love to use something like this for a task manager. It could replace the Cube in touch flow (since I don't use that anyway).
Yes but unfortunately the PocketCM framework is not open-source, so unless you can get the author to creat that task manager for you, it;s wishful thinking.

Depends on the language, I use C#. I could probably port a small C++ app over (if I have time).
It would be really nice....

For my PC I use a program called CCleaner which is a privacy and cleaning tool which basically clears all your history etc.
Is there a similar thing for my Xperia X1 that anyone can recommend please?
Yes, there is one. It's called SK-Tools.
Cheers
There's also an app called MemMaid. It's quite good.

I might give this a go if it has a trial version. Are there any good free ones out there or is it worth spending the money?

Great
But be careful and do not delete too much and too often. SK-Tools clean in in their basic-configuration also all the caches and stuff like that on your X1 and this could make your Phone slower if you do this too often.
I use fatal1ty 1.4 but i see there are a lot of other hero roms.
Which is the best and what are the differences?
I am probably a little biased, but I would pick myhero 1.1.1. The rom feels faster to me than all the cupcake ones I've tried and still preserves the much needed functions of the Hero.
Hmm yea i was gonna post a thread like this....peopleschamp perhaps u cud make a poll for diff 32A hero roms, i personally prefer my hero 1.1.1 cuz its using the latest hero build. Cant wait for htc to release it officialy.
Moved to general
I will recommend myHero 1.1.1 as well, only got a few flaws.
But it's a nice stable and fast!

I thought it did a good job at 'auto-managing' applications. I don't have a task manager installed, mainly because I haven't needed it.

If you wont kill the proccess they will run in the background so if you use many different applications a task manager is a nice thing to have or myHero might become laggy after using it for a while.
Sorry if this has been asked before i have searched all the past posts and found nothing.
Just rooted my Hero for the first time on to villianrom 3.4 and i find that the market will not let me look at just in apps in free only like it did on the 1.5 market version..
Does everyone have this problem, or is they a way around it please.
Used Market everyday but dont wannt look though the paid ones cause i dont have a credit card...
Please can you help
Marc
No body else have this problem then??
Yeah I noticed that too. Being a tightwad, I missed ability to only search free apps, and as far as I can tell, there is no work around but correct me if I am wrong!
I am using Villain 3.4 and have no issues with market. Am able to click "top free" and view only free apps or click "top paid" and view only paid apps. Works great!

It doesn't work great I'm afraid. Yes, you can use "Top Free" or "Top Paid", but what you can't do is a search and then filter only free or only paid (as you can in the 1.5 version of the Market).
Regards,
Dave
but if your searching then it shouldn't be too much of a problem as the results have been narrowed anyway
i just want to be able to view the free just in. nothing else really im interested in.

I didn't know you could that in 1.5. That is quite convenient.

Does it work on the Atrix without messing anything up?
I just want to backup the stock ROM with all my apps and settings.
Thanks

I don't believe ROM Manager supports the Atrix 4G at the moment.

do you know of any other app that will do a full rom backup like rom manager does?
I would just wait until ROM Manager supports it.
After all, the phone is less than a week old.
I see way too many people on these forums with zero patience.

its not a question of patience.
i was just wondering if there was a different app
it was very uncalled for the way you responded insinuating that i dont have patience
im not here going "hey i want this now...y the hell isnt rom manager supported yet?!?!"
it was just a mere question as to whether or not there was another app that could do full backups
I agree
I also have the atrix and was wondering the same thing. But i agree with you its not like im griping if it doesnt just would like to know if something supports it. there are alot more devs then just the people of rom manager. And it was rooted before release so it is possible that it could be done. So chill out with you cockiness/rudeness!!
You can back up your apps and whatnot using titanium backup or similar programs. It's not the same as ROM Manager/CWM but it'll get you by for now
Has there been anymore word on ROM Manager on the Atrix? I was curious as to if I could use it to install Gingerblur RC1.
But wait, Gingerblur isn't a "real" ROM anyway so that wouldn't work, huh?
Man I wish I hadn't paid for that before my brain kicked in.
Sorry for my recognized ignorance.....
