Mobile Tracker/Locator for TD2 - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

I have seen some of the mobiles now a days comes with Mobile Locator / Tracker application. This application will help the owner when the mobile is lost/stolen, even if the SIM card is changed and reflashed.
So we have such kind of application for this WM phone?

No reply or no suggestions yet

the one n only soft ive heard of is..hmm..i forgot the name, but u can find it here on the forum)BUT the soft im talkin about requires bein connected to a network n once u reflesh, the soft is gone.In fact it doesnt make any sense to me, once u reflesh, everythins gone, so i cant rly imagine how it would send out any kind of data...but fcourse, i might b wrong.

Try wimp or spb terminator. Work both pretty ok. Sends text messages on sim-change with new number. Gathers location through GPS.
If you hard reset, it's gone.... so try to cook it into your rom and you're done.

There is also remote tracker, haven't tried it; but seems to have good reviews:

Thanks all for the reply. I will also see some review and try those.
Please keep posting new things...
Thanks!!!

Remote tracker working on Topaz?
Has anyone gotten Remote Tracker to work on the Topaz? Seems like a great program from reading the manual, but I cannot get it to work on my ATT Pure for no apparent reason. At least a couple of other people around with the same problem.
Remote Tracker
Thanks!

Remote Tracker works on my HTC Touch Diamond 2 - UK Model, on Windows Mobile 6.5 (from HTC site, not a cooked rom).

Thanks all for al the links
I think this is also one http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/
But we need to make sure that the Software is Cooked in our ROM. Else ONE Hardreset will close the chapter .
Thoughts...
Thanks.

WIMP - Where Is My Phone

Hey Guys,
I posted this in the Kaiser thread. It works brilliantly on my Ameo too.
Here's the first post from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332324
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I’ve found a mint piece of software that no Kaiser owner should be without.
It comes with a trial period and u should check it out.
I was looking for some software that would help secure my phone and came across this. http://www.wimp-software.co.uk)
It’s supposedly designed to help you find your phone (yeh right, I aint gonna lose my £500 phone) but me and my mate have had a **** load of fun with it.
It’s pretty cool.
If you read the instructions, you can basically text the phone, but the other person doesn’t get the text message. The software grabs this coded text message and sends you back the gps position of the phone. It also gives you a link to google maps which is great if you’ve got Opera installed on your phone. (Don’t try PIE, it doesn’t work)
I gotta say, I’ve seen a lot of cool software around, but this one is SO cool. I only wish my girlfriend had a Kaiser. I could have so much fun with this.
The only thing I would add to the software though, is to know I was being WIMPED. Maybe a little SMS noise, or the icon changed or something, but I do suppose that it was written for phone theft. I haven’t tried it yet, but it also claims that if you change the SIM card in the phone it’ll SMS you with the number of the new SIM card.
this is a great find. thanks
Yes, this is a fantastic idea. However, the implication on our privacy is something to think about very seriously. Yes, it does protect our phone from theft and lost.
Can it be uninstalled or removed by a hard reset.?
Yes, it can be uninstalled, and yes it will be removed by a hard reset.
HOWEVER, pop it into your External Rom and the above two things become insignificant.
That's very true.
or cook it into a rom, doesnt help if they re-flash though...
Mobile Justice
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mjustice
Does the same, is freeware, works without problems on My athena WITHOUT bottom bar at 128 DPI (WINP shows no ICON)
The easiest way could be to cook it into a ROM and put the config file into an unlocked EXTERNAL ROM.
This is needed because a config file is requested, so, even if you cook mobile justice into the rom, you can't cook the config file (it needs your password, your SIM number and your phone number to report at..)
Then you can config your phone and even in case of an hard reset, without the thieft knowledge of the SW, it will restart and it reads the config file into the external ROM

We would have to assume that 99.9% of the guy having our phones does not know anything about flashing. This is a reasonable assumption I think.
Having even 80% chances of getting back a lost phone is already not bad.

Agree with this. Even having the config file on the MicroDrive might work, if this could be built into the ROM to look there by default. Don't know if that's possible. Yes, you could erase the Microdrive but this would take more research than the usual thief might be willing to make...
WIMP says it will send a Google Maps link, will Mobile Justice do that? Seems like MJ is actually more configurable.

MJ send GPS info in some formats, and have NO ICON on home screen. And a guy having in his hands a phone like this the first thing he search on google is HOW TO HARD RESET THE DEVICE Without a config file in ROM (on on microdrive I agree, but when you hard reset the ATHENA he asks "do you want to format the microdrive?" Having a stolen one the answer will be always YES!
Moreover is FREE, so I think no problems, asking to author, to put it into the ROM and to modify the registry key for config file to have it on external rom. The problem is.. could we have a PK3.0 with External Rom unocked as default?

I don't recall being asked about reformatting the MicroDrive on hard reset... But having it in external rom would certainly be a viable approach. This would be a nice feature for PK3.0

The only way to works well it's integrating it in the rom, cause if its stolen the first thing that can do is change the rom
New Version on their website.
V1.2 includes various stealth options.
Wouldn't it be great if we could tell the program to draw the thiefs attention (eg an alarm) and when the person reacts to this alarm have it make a photograph with the front camera, which could be send through mms or e-mail... Then you would know who to look for when you arrive at the GPS coordinates with your baseball bat...

Laptop Replacement

Hello I have just recently began looking into the idea of a UMPC. I look at the stats on these and they seem decent at least some of them with 1 gig of ram and what not. Can these devices function as a laptop/desktop/pda replacement or have they not made it that far yet?
Device is intresting but it is no voice capable and no built GPS

if you want an UMPC and you want voice, then you may like the HTC X9500 (AKA "Shangri-la")

It has now been confirmed that the shift can make voice calls.
See the thread in the Athena forum for a link to a new video showing the phone pad on the shift.
ive seen a UMPC with the built in GPS and the voice functionality. Im just asking if this can run all the programs that a pc can. Like will i be able to active snyc a PPC. I have stumbled upon an interesting site that has quite a bit of affordable UMPCs...
http://www.dynamism.com/htc-shift/pricing.shtml
Shift is a bit pricey on this site.
Hell no!
It's a glorified comms device - that's all.
If you think even a little bit that it can replace even a fraction of your PC usage, you're gonna be very dissapointed and waste a ton of cash.
Office apps are extremely limited, and non-PPC software is simply a no-no.
This was much covered in the days of the Universal, and things have not improved much I'm afraid.
Forget it! Can't be clearer.
"Office apps are extremely limited, and non-PPC software is simply a no-no."
if it's running vista non ppc software should be no prob
of cause aero would not work nor any apps which required any kind of directx stuff

just check out the athena upgrading forums and read the thread on shift making phone calls
Even if it does not make phone calls out of the box, It will probably be hackable after a few weeks.
If HTC decided to put SnapVue because of marketing reason, there should be a full rom floating somewhere. It's impossible they didn't try one at first stage of development.
If it's for technical reason, then the problem certainly lie in the component sharing between the PPC part and vista. These component are:
Wifi: Must be shared and will probably be a problem to activate on both side. We must find a way to alternate it's switch.
Bluetooth: Same as wifi, but may support dual access as bluetooth can set up multiple connections
GPS: If it's desactivated, there will be the same work as for the artemys hopefully
SnapVue is a WM6 system trying to limit itself. It's not a real operating system build from ground. I'm sure it is crying to go back to normal WM6 state once we add the necessary system files.

wow u guys are living under rocks or something? the athena's snapvue is like the htc home plugin. go into the athena mobile 6 forum. i have it included as a addon for the athena. the athena will have a phone AND gps. yes me and oli have access to the rom. has been mentioned before. no you can't have it. it can go back to normal wm6. disable the plugin in settings and change the tsk. you can also get the menu back and stuff. this can be done by i guess running the cab for athena. the original cab we made during development had the startmenu and all gone. it was built into the dlls to hide softkeys and start menu. if u run the cab i believe all will be back. if u guys want a rom for shift. u know where to find me.

well..... I'm not 100% convinced by everything .. the Shift I have used does not show anything in the SnapVue ... no IE, no explorer, ... nothing to be able to download a cab or to install a cab... maybe synchronizing ? but I think that it can't be synchronized ...... so how? .. I have seen 2 shifts and both were not able of reading SMS and receiving or giving a call.
I will keep tune in this thread since the phone is out this month .. and will see how it works for others... I hope we will be able to put a phone on it and GPS and anything else.... but I think even without that the HTC SHIFT issss the best choice for a small notebook and it is clearly THE BEST CHOICE for an umpc.

i'm not talking about ADDING a phone or a gps ... but about downloading "THE" cab you are talking about... and installing this cab.. surely it would be possible to hard reset the snapview side and before customizations take place and install sbnap view soft reset then use total commander to get any other cabs from the extended rom that we need ??? (but ive not seen even a sample unit in the flesh i assume this is do_able?)

Hey no problem just hope it can be cracked and hacked away at till we get a usable device
I want to buy one... is it avalible yet. i saw something about it being released in europe already...

does not display "CALL FORWARD" for my 2nd phone number

all of my OLD motorola phones seem to function as a phone/dial up modem better, and my more advanced 8125 smartphone is limited.
I have a virtual phone number for my business, and for the old moto's when someone called that number the CID would display "CALL FORWARD 407-123-4567" (it would show the number of the person calling) and when someone called my AT&T Mobile number it just displays the number. My Cingular 8125 does not do this and tech support will not help me with this issue. I can put my sim card into those older phones (and do nothing further) and visually see that someone called my other phone number and not the main (while displaying their number too).
I need to see the difference between incoming phone calls to my regular number and incoming phone calls to my virtual number (which is forwarded to my cell phone). I am so angry that by upgrading I downgrade other useful/simple functions that I have been using for years. (the other is getting my 8125 to dial my local ISP for my MacBook Pro, instead of the *99# deal listed everywhere... I can make my OLD MOTOs to dial an ISP of my choice to connect my Mac 2 the net)
These forums have helped my way more than AT&T ever has or will! Thanks a bunch guys!!!
HELP!! I to know what number people are calling me at.
I've called tech support several times on this issue and still have not found a solution other than it being my hardware. My goal is just to see a difference when a person calls my virtual phone number(forwarded to my cell) or my actual cell phone number. I can use older hardware and get this to work!
Thanks again.. this is a tuff one!

Can you try this file?
Hi,
Please try this.
Just put it into any dir and run it. It will run at the background and you should get an icon which shows the call is being forwarded from other number.
After you MAKE SURE it works fine on your phone(no crash or other problem...), you may add a link to \windows\startup to make it auto run at startup.
I build the application for my T7272 and it works fine. But I did not test for other platform. Feel free to report bugs.
Good luck.

Hi all,
Sorry I am too busy recently.
Maybe another day I will sort the code and share to who is interseted in.
The code is based on RIL so there may have some problem with different H/W or Radio version.
Anyway, I will try to burn a WM6.5 on T7272 to test whether it is WM6.5 problem or H/W version, if I have spare time.

HTC Touch Pro2 WM6.5 LogMeIn Help

Hi Folks,
1st thread on here.
Just got myself a spank new Touch Pro2. First thing i did before i started installing my apps was to check HTC website for Updates. Sure enough they had a new ROM version and WM6.5 upgrade. Now i have it working exactly how i want except for LogMeIn. I have used LogMeIN on my HP Ipaq for ages but cant get it sorted out on my HTC. Is it an issue with WM6.5 i wonders?
Basically it looks like it wont work with Opera at all. In Internet Explorer I can download and install the RActrlCE.cab file no prob. Looks good, can login to my list of computers, can even get as far as being connected to the required PC but when i click the Remote Control icon all i get is a white screen.
Any suggestions???
Have the same problem would really appreciate any help... Pls.
wm6.5 comes with the newer version of PIE (pocket internet explorer) which is not compatible with the plugin logmein uses for remote desktop. You can try and do a search to the wm6/6.1 PIE cab file. Hope that helps, cuz I was in the same boat.
LogmeIn works on my 6.5-official ROM in IE.

Not in mine!, you can install IE TOGGLE, it let's you use PocketIE (the old version of IE), with that Logmein works
log me in
it took me ages to work this out... i have to use the old version of explorer (downloaded from here somewhere, although the ie switcher might work also) and i need to use 'kfortp' which lets me type in logmein when i am connected, before i could connect but not type anything. crazy
LogMeIn's response
I raised a ticket with LogMeIn about this and got this highly useful reply 2 days later.
"We have discovered an issue when connecting to a LogMeIn computer using a mobile device running Windows Mobile 6.1.4 / 6.5 and IE6 Mobile. Currently, it is NOT possible to connect with these devices due to incompatibility with the plugin.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

If anyone is reading this don't install kfortouchpro. Which i read on another forum was required to get this to work. I don't see what the need for it is. Plus it froze my Touch Pro2 up on the first reboot after install. Luckily i was able to connect to my phone with activesync and uninstall the app to stop my phone from freezing up . Hope this helps someone. As far as Logmein working just use the two files below. Install XDA first, reboot, install IEtoggle, open IEtoggle, switch IE to PIE, start up IE and sign into logmein. This worked for me. Hope it helps someone. Sorry if this is already on this forum somewhere else.

I tried this and it works but now I cannot get IEtoggle to switch me back to IE6. I tried restarting and then selecting IEtoggle, thinking PIE was somehow still running, but even after this I am still stuck in PIE.
EDIT: Since this original post on 4/18 I have had to do a hard reset, since my email and SMS windows for individual messages (compose, read) were not popping up. I have no idea if it is related to using IEtoggle, but I am not going to use this again on my TouchPro2 6.5 just to be safe.
after some trial and error
Here goes, first off i apologize horizons1. I have the same phone and WM version as you. Haven't experienced any of these problems. All i can say is make sure you install XDA WM 6.1 PIE first, then reboot, then install IEtoggle might of been your problem. After further testing i have found that Kfortouchpro is necessary to log into windows from your log in screen or type any text once in windows. When opening kfortouchpro it lets you switch to M$ IME which is required for your keyboard to work. Now after testing this for a bit, if you don't switch it back to eT9/multiplay in the program before you reboot it will not display your slider bar to unlock your phone on boot up. Only way to fix is with activesync. Have tested this 3 times in different configs. I wish i could just use remote desktop thats built into WM. But i am currently connected behind two routers one being bridged to the other. Have tried many times to get this to work with no luck. So if anyone can help me with that, it would be much appreciated. Too bad logmein won't just patch this problem. Their program works great after jumping through all these hoops to get to your desktop.

I think there isnt anything u can do about it srry m8
I'm guessing that you didn't install any programs that can track it? eg, microsoft my phone our similar? I take it that you've called it? as soon as you block it your chances of recovery diminish.
software
Any recommendations for good (ideally free...) tracking software to install?
You were meant to be able to find your phone using Microsoft MyPhone, but it doesnt seem to support the premium features on the HD2, I've made several posts about this but no body seems to care

I use remotetracker(see previous post) and in that the creator has had to implement a different set of code to make it work on the hd2, it seems the regular way of hooking into the sms service doesn't work for the hd2, I'd guess this is the same issue myphone is having.
