complete newbie here does any one have anything to speed up the keyboard on the my touch i text much faster than it can keep up. and also does any one have anything to just speed up the phone it self
you can try rooting it and then flashing a new ROM, my keyboard is much faster than it used to be
you can try the htc keyboard that comes with compact, phone keypad and full quewtry keyboard. it can be laggy but from my experience while using phone keypad i destroy all touch screen phones. but from any rooted roms the stock Qpad is faster then fast. its as easy as a simple experiment. just play around. thats what i do. lol
what roots would you recommenced and rom

I found my old ipaq (H3850, with pocketpc2002) under a pile of papers, so I thought I'd try to charge it and see if it would turn on.
Not only it turns on, but lo! I have the distinct impression that it's faster than my herald (with stock wm5).
At least while just going through windows, settings, and the basics (contacts, tasks, etc), it reacts kinda immediately where the herald takes a half second to think about it (for example the first time after soft reset when I go into settings -> something or even the first time I open the start menu).
How odd does it seem ?
Stock wm5. There's your problem. I can almost guarantee you that any wm6/6.1 will blow the iPaq to flaming bits.
Also, what may be happening is that the Herald's screen is not registering touches. That happens sometime to me. I've always found that turning up the touchflo threshold in advanced configuration will solve it.
Even the stock wm6 ?
As soon as I understand how all this stuff works I'll be trying my luck flashing (at this pace it won't be anytime too soon).

Yes, even the wm6 rom. Stock is the problem. Try Ttran001's Open Touch roms. He has some that are nearly identical to the stock rom, except much faster. They come with a simple boot loader, and don't need Hard SPL. I'd recommend something from the OT4 series for starters.
I refrain so far from flashing as I am concerned (very probably without cause) that there be something non-standard about the italian p4350 or its software, I am waiting for some fellow italian to come forward to compare info and share his experience.
On the other hand I slap myself in advance for wasting precious time while I can probably just flash the bleeding thing without worry.
I'm sorry to report, but Orange will now be shipping out devices with an Orange ROM. No Google Earth, changed quick-app icons and who knows what other modifications... I couldn't find any... Well, there's a GPS Settings thing, but it only shows about Assisted GPS which I'm sure I saw in the other ROM.
Still comes with an 8GB Transcend memory card and nothing extra in the box. If you're getting one in the next few weeks, make sure the barcode at the top says GHTN. If it says OHTN, it's the Orange ROM.
google earth??
Why do orange ruin perfectly good phones? They also did it to S60 Nokia's which is why ive avoided orange for the last 6 years.
Orange are alright but their ROM-faffing is just an exercise in self-importance that is not appreciated.
so mess with the rom and terrible web browsing limits
I'm happy to report that I just received my orange HD (ordered the other day when they came back in stock on the web shop) and it's not got a messed up ROM (box has the GHTN code as described above). As far as I can tell there is no orange branding anywhere at all. Makes me think that the current batch might be with stock ROMs ... get your order in quick ???
Orange recieved 5000 new phones a week monday ago. about 3 days ago they were available for delivery. mine was one of them and its only orange branding is the rear cover. and TBH this in not an issue as i like the logo on the cover. the rom is standard with all the trimings....
Once again
Google Earth????
If you buy from CarPhoneWarehouse you will get unbranded and unlocked.
Even on an Orange contract.
I've no idea how long this will last though.
Ah yes, forgot about the little orange logo on the rear cover. So it's "no orange branding anywhere at all ... except for the logo", though I was actually thinking about the software rather than the hardware when I wrote that.
Info update
Don't worry about the hadset being Orange Battered... sorry, i mean branded (lol) to much folks. If you haven't been snooping aroung the development side of the forum that much, let me bring you up to speed.
The Hard SPL is out. I just change my ROM (as you'll see on my signature) without any worry whatsoever.
The odd thing is, i never had an Orange ROM on mine. I had a standard one and i HAD to change it for one simple reason... something i advise all people to do as a matter of fact.
Why? Well during texting, stylus or hand input, the thing would freeze more that a very sick penguin. It was AWFUL
Have a peek at other ROM's that are about and if you need advice, ask about. I'm no expert but if you ask me, i'll try my best. It really was very very easy following Oli's Hard SPL thread.
Anyway, i've said my bit now. The rest as they say... is up to you!

There's a hotfix on the HTC support site to fix the freezing problem on all ROMs < 1.19.
If you don't want to go the Hard SPL route, surely you can flash the older Orange ROM? (That's what I've got and it not been Orangized.)

I can confirm the following. As long as you have the Micorsoft Net Framework on your pc, yes, you can flash any HTC ROM to the HD. I have just done this. See the following post of mine.

hi I am a complete nooby to WM (switched from an iphone).
My Orange box has the OHTN on so I guess I have the Orange Rom (as no google maps).
To be honest I find the HD to be quite slow when opening programs and seems a bit buggy as it seems to stutter on some operations
Whats the benefits for me of changing this ROM??

Hey there!
Havent you just answered your own question?
The benifts of changing the rom would be google maps (although a simple download could also fix that)
Also a handset that isnt buggy and stutters!
I have the orange ROM
didn't realise orange had been sending them out with HTC ROMs!
bluetooth is faulty
programs open slowly
blimmin opera has orange's naff front page
am loath to flash a proper ROM unless the bluetooth fault is
hardware and then I'd have to cover my tracks before sending it back
any help would be appreciated

You need to have a little patience, trying new roms out and tweaking - my handset is very fast now, it plays most video files I throw at it and gui operation i.e touch flo 3d and windows is about twice the speed of the stock rom...

Hi, What rom do you have flashed to yours and Is it possible to backup old rom just incase? Am not new to flashing actually, i just really need a fast device, maybe google map and some other little programs, pimbackup, etc.
Ok so i've had the X1 for two weeks now and its a really good phone but there are somethings that are narking me off:
1. When am sending texts its freezes for a few seconds then its ok, this really is getting to me
2. How hard is it to take a photo?? when you get it up and running it takes ages to take the photo
3. Everything people keep saying to put on the phone always seems to be very buggy, and i've looked at the lists people say etc and just cant get happy with the stuff they say
Overall its ok, but losing confidence in it can anyone perk me up with some good honest tips, software etc???
Stu
No I cant perk you up, and would say the same.. the phone gives the impression that it was never quite completed... everything is there and it should be really good but its not quite right.
Having used WM phones for many years now (and always swearing never ever to buy one again) I kind of knew this before getting it. However I live in hope that one day WM phones will work properly, that everything will be nicely integrated etc. or is that just called an iPhone....
With the last HTC I had, I forget the model, I was only happy in the end when I made my own ROM with what I wanted in it. I guess its going to be the same with the X1, its just I am not sure I want to invest that much of my life to make a phone work anymore.
Or flash hardSPL and download and install one of the custom ROMs currently available in the ROMs section. I recommend Touch-IT.
well i did the rom 10?? is that right, seemed quicker but like its been said just feels like something is missing.
the keyboard is pee'ing me off too (onscreen one) as with this freezing sceanrio i keep misstyping things
After I installed the latest rom (R2xxxxxx), my Xperia is much snappier and doesn't freeze as much. I had TONS of problems with the Touch Flo 3D, so that may be something not to re-install after you carefully flash your rom. Congratulations on the new phone! And, sorry too hehe...
How did you install the new rom? Do they finally have it officially on the SE Updater? I tried downloading from the links in the topic but Rapidshare...just can't work for me.
Ya, you have to get it from the rapidshare link. I checked the mirrors and i don't see any links working. Steps: Get file. Run exe on your pc with Activesync running. Follow instructions. You'll see a progress bar on both pc and X1 when working right. The forum RECOMMENDS you use Hard-SPL so you don't brick your phone, but i didn't. TIP: Match the file type with yours. Mine was GENERIC_NAM and had a Customization ID of (CDF) 1219-1224. Match those two and you should be good. Of course i take no responsibility yada yada, just telling you what i did with mine. Good luck
Hi, I am quite experienced HD2 user and I have been using Android on it right from the start of SD develpopment
What it is, is that my companys director/manager base had all been given HD2's a long while ago, and I have been wondering wether to load Android on them, as they all complain about the speed of WinMo, so yesterday I decided to give it a go on one, I flashed the Typoon CM7 mod to the Nand memory of one and it works flawlessly, this is the thing though, I too have a personal HD2 and have the same radio, same Magldr version, same ROM, and the company HD2 runs much better. The main Noticable thing is that when the phone is sent to standby with the power key and then turned back on the screen comes on immidiately and the screen is responsive as soon as you see it, on my HD2 the screen will take about 3 seconds to come on, then another second or 2 for the screen to become responsive so I can unlock it. The company phones also seem generally more responsive than mine, and it's annoying me, as they work so well, better then the DesireHD we have here too, but my own HD2 is slower The company phones are sim locked Vodaphone UK handsets and mine is an unlocked pre T-Mobile I believe. I don't see how this could make a difference, but I just wanted to know isf there is something I could do to get my handset up to par with theirs. Is it maby because I have flashed more than them, do I need to do some kind of 'deep clean' of the Nand memory?
Any help would be appreicated.
Thanks. Dane.
the only thing you can try it's
- task 29
-reinstall android
if it stays the same, then there's nothing to do about it.
The wake-up lag is a known problem

which differs from device to device, for unknown reasons
good luck

Could you have a look at the LCD model they are using?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11635947&postcount=440
..it seems so, that people that got the AUO LCD Display got the wake up lag
and users with teh sharp one not.
...but this should only affect teh wakeup of teh phone and not the complete performance of the phone.
Also got an AUO Screen and my phone runs quite smooth...but don't have an other HD2 with a sharp LCD to directly compare it.
Hi,
The Z, S and settings key on the board aren't working on my girlfriend's phone any more. Any presses around that area in any app doesn't register either (ie it makes unlocking the phone tricky too)
She's running some custom ROM on 2.2. I have no idea what it is sorry and I'm not sure how to figure it out (it uses some HTC IME Mod for the keyboard if that helps) and I'm just wondering if it's worth losing all of her messages etc and the hassle of trying to install another custom ROM onto it? Or if it's very likely a hardware fault?
Thanks
Ty to test screen with some app like mobileuncle tools but i think that the problem is in hardware,..so repare it.
