So does the CM updater that's in the market work for the mytouch?

I was on 4.02 and updated to 4.04 through the updater, it downloaded and flashed the update all through the updater app. Since there are no new roms from Cyan in the saphire forums the answer to your question is yes, but there's nothing new. It does work though...or my mytouch3g would be toast right now lol!

Ummm .... that must be an old post you quoted above as the cyanogenmod rom has been compatible with Dream and 32B Magics for some time. CM Updater also works fine on the Magic/MT3G.
There is a special port of cyanogenmod for 32A Magics in the ROM development board which is also CM Updater friendly, you just have to enter the servername to update from instead of using the default.

just updated to the 4.1.6.. sweet so far.. 1.6 is nice.

the mytouch and g1 both have a paltry 192mb ram. Why is it the g1 is rumored to not have the hardware to keep utilizing firmware updates but the mytouch isnt mentioned?
Is the mytouch in as much trouble? The mytouch has more rom but does that do anything for performance? i thought that just meant more apps without apps to sd...i dont get it...thanks

I believe the issue on the G1 is the rom space not the ram.

A rooted version is coming soon.
hopefully really soon
No Doubt!!! There are some really big fixes in that list. I'm glad Verizon is taking the time fix the issues before pushing out the OTA

Shouldn't we be thanking HTC.
I think ill wait for the rooted version this time, no more jumping the gun on the first update I see.

there are a couple devs working on a rom for this new leak, which is actually LEAK VS. 4.
Two devs have a basic rom they are working on, and another dev is about to start an update to his rom. so just hang tight, a rooted version of this will be available shortly, like a day or 2.
Oh FINALLY some action up in this place. This is cool.
Hey eclipse, what was v3? I'm with the OP; I thought this was.
there was the 2.1 developer ROM,
then the 2.1 Leak w/o root
then the 2.1 pre-OTA
then this one.

This one is tempting to upgrade to. I think I should wait I'm still on 2.1 v1 but holding out I know once I upgrade to a higher version v1 will be rooted days later.

do we think someone will be able to release this for us leakers so that we will be able to get root? I can hold off upgrading if that is a possibility...

This v3 leak is for the leaked people, but it does not help us in any way get root.
Digging the update, but...
My market is still devoid of several apps.. I'm non-rooted (early leak adopter), so it doesn't seem jcase's fix will work for me.. just wanted to share in case A) someone else was trying to figure out whether v3 fixed this problem, and/or B) I'm an idiot and someone else knows what I need to do to see the full market..

It's not just you and you are not an idiot. The short answer is that the problem lies with google, VZW, and HTC. HTC has to give google a final build number before google can authorize full access to the market.
In short we won't get full access until we a) get root or b) VZW releases an official OTA.
has any of you leakers installed this?
would it be possible for you to tell me what the radio version is?

[Q] Difference between official 2.2 and CM6

hey guys,
just wondering what all the hype is going on at the moment?
regarding the official 2.2 release i mean.
"CM6 final" has been out i think since september (i think) and that's froyo 2.2, so what's the deal or difference to the official 2.2? why is everyone freaking out and posting roms if CM6 has been available for quite some time now and CM roms offer way more functions, etc?
i don't get it, please someone lemme know why the official release should be any better?!
thx,
v.

@ first two posters: wow, very informative, thank you.
@ last poster: thx. ok that makes sense. still doubt it though that a stock rom can compete with an overclocked kernel running at 650+mhz, rooted, brutmaps for international navigation,... just to name very few functions that unofficial roms feature.
i'll definetely try an official version as soon as there is a reliable version. to see if it has any advantage. we'll see.

I've tried a few different roms, including CM5 and CM6, and nothing is as fast or as stable as my oem 1.6, rooted w/universal androot and overclocked to 528mhz.
If you're gonna compare, don't compare a modded version of the official rom, use the actual official rom.
alright, I need some help now:
there are a couple different releases in the development section and I don't understand which one is the actual official one. so far there are 4 versions (here are the thread starters):
bladyle
amazinglarry311
dasunsrule32
crios
would someone be kind enough to give a quick explanation (not in detail) what the differences are and what rom is the closest-to-official?
are they all just work arounds to make the OTA release work on all htc magics and the cookers are trying different approaches? one is changing something with the spl, one is using a CM6 rom, one is taking files from different roms and using adb commands to set everything up,...
I'd appreciate some help!
thx,
v.

[Q] Which Rom to flash?

I'm getting a wildfire delivered on Weds, it's going to be network branded so I'm going to be de-branding.
I've been reading through the forums over the afternoon and have one question that I could do with other peoples input on.
I've decided that I'm going to load a custom ROM, I've read a lot of the guides and feel quite confident about the whole procedure, however I'm really stuck when it comes down to choosing a ROM.
I've looked through the other thread that lists the main differences, I'm just wondering what other users of these ROM's have to say about there chosen ROM.
I was originally thinking about using the Cyanogen ROM??? just wanted other peoples views/inputs on the various ROM's
Thanks.

Read this first, and look closely at the red marked text. Is that something you want? The big question is, do you want the HTC Sense look or do you want LauncherPro?
I'm using the latest Openfire with SetCpu, and my Wildfire is not gettin any faster than this. The downside with Openfire is that it doesn't have those 'important' HTC apps that you want. For example HTC Camera, HTC Flash and the HTC caller id app..

There is a small chance that I might flash WildPuzzle because of those missing apps.
As mentioned in my OP I have seen and read that thread.
I'm more looking for peoples views/reviews on how good/bad each ROM is when used on a day to day basis.
no caller id!!! need that to avoid those unwanted phone calls.
with the overclocked ROM do you see better performance when browsing etc?

Yeah I see a noticeable difference With proper settings in SetCPU, phone and launcherpro, the phone becomes noticeable fast
Thought I could use the same thread to post my questions, they've got the
same topic.
- How do I copy my current set of OS/rom or what you call it?
- Due to the fact I like the HTC sense but not the lag of the Wildfire
I thoght WildPuzzleROM could be pritty good. To overclock I guess it's "setcpu"
or somthing like that. Could you guys help me which one to pick and
what I should know about it.
If Im not totally of I guess I should first have to root it, then copy the old rom
and then simply change to the new Wildpuzzle rom.
- And last, is it possible to find swype for wildfire WITH english and swedish keyboard. Or atleast swedish (and åäö).
Thanks for all awnsers!

4G?
Calk,
the big question is, will 4G work on this rom? (or will it become like the DesireHD Rom?)...
for sure I would make the switch from evio 1.7.7 if 4G and most of the bugs are worked out....
Great Job man...
Hope this stays stock....

What does this PORTed ROM offer that the original doesn't?
And would it even WORK if it "stayed stock?" Isn't the point of a PORT that you make modifications to force it to work on a different platform? Thus... couldn't be stock.
Anyway... back to the original question... what does this bring to the table that custom EVO builds don't bring?
Can't wait is most things working
