Question about UK Companies/plans - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hi everyone!
I'm new in this forum. I'm Jerry and I'm writing from Barcelona, Spain.
First of all, let me excuse my self in case this post isn't in the right section.
On september 19th I'm going to live at UK for a year, and I'm already searching a good phone plan for my HTC Magic (can be used with any company).
As I will stay there for a year, it would be complicated to have a 12 month contract with a pay montly plan. So I guess the best option for my case is to get a single SIM and a pay as you go plan.
My question is: if I get a pay as you go, can I use the huge applications that Magic has? Such as surfing, facebook, etc. This HTC is constantly transfering data so it would be great to pay an extra money for free surfing and all that stuff.
Hope you can help me, because I don't know if bring my Magic with me, or buy a phone more... simple.
Thanks in advance!
Jerry.

Brand new orange M5000 for sale!! Get it cheap.

I am selling itn on Ebay, but thought I would see if anyone here on the site wanted it. It is a brand new handset that was provided by orange to me only 3 days ago. I have since had them upgrade me to another handset due to minimul to zero 3g coverage in my home. You can see my feedback, also if you Pm me I am more then happy to take any photos.
://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6475949561&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
I have also got a bluetooth gps holuz reciever if anyone wants.
----Off topic----
Just out of curiosity, how did you have them upgrade you again and let you keep the universal? Didn't they want the Universal back?
Are we all allowed to put links to our eBay sales in here? Genuine question (to which I would expect the answer to be no).
I spend over £600 a month on orange and no they did not want the handset back. Beacuse they simply upgraded me for free but on the basis that I renew my contact for another 12 months. Which is no real bigge as my wifes family are all on orange. I have just bought a new voda contract and see my self going that way as I get full 3g coverage. I am sick and tiredof hearing the antenas are down in your location down sir.
Out of intereset this is my 5th upgrade this year on orange.
I have seen many other links for people selling their stuff on ebay. if anyone objects I will remove the link. Please let me know.
Regards.
Out of intrest i have now ended my contract early and my number is being made int pay as you go. Who says orange are all that bad, the reason so my wife can still get her extra 50% minutes and other benifits, as long as I top up 10 a month. So I am now on Voda and loving the free live. Out of my contact and not paying anything to end 11 months early a result. Thanks orange for being understanding, so it is good note that I end my time with orange. I still pay my wifes bill so I still have an account but my main number is now voda.
Repeat thanks orange for orange for being understanding, got nothing but love for you.
So I will be looking for less for the m5000, as I simply want to put orange in the past. Plus point can use my 8800 more now, with my now pay as you go number.
gr8!!
really they give you 5 upgrades in one yr!!!
ANd then they let you walk out w/o paying the line rental for the rest of the yr.
ofcourse you pay £600 a month though I would have not expected that. I mean they want to keep customers like you, why let you walk? and why offer 5 upgrades? Amazing!
Wish the networks had smthng similar for the more humble £300pm payers.

Pure is free today:)

Hi all!
I recently upgraded from a kaiser (tilt) to a Tilt 2 because I noticed ATT had it on special.
Oddly enough they would give it to a new customer for free but not one in good standing eligible for an upgrade.... So I called customer service and they waived the fee giving me the one day special they had.
I then came here and was thrilled to find the cab by Tom that enabled me to use my phone as a wifi router!
I live in the middle of NOWHERE and my only options were Satelite, dial up or tethering with that joke of a limit!
I wanted to add another line so that I would have 2 phones capable of being a wifi router.
Today Att has the pure on special for free to new customers and yet again I got it free rather then pay the 100$ they want to charge current customers.
Just thought I would post for those thinking of getting the pure.
thats great to share deals on htc products
i just checked though and the pure is $50 not free, i got mine from wirefly though because they waive the activation fee on the phones
I just ordered my HTC Pure on Saturday (Feb.6) and I paid 20$ for it . It'll hopefully get here tomorrow and I can start customizing it. Regarding that, any firsts that I should know about?
I'm completely new to HTC's and would REALLY appreciate if someone pointed me in the right direction as to where to start tweaking it to my own liking. I've been a Blackberry user for 2yrs and from what I've seen while checking out some of the threads here is that there's a series of steps you have to take in order to start messing around with your HTC. And I do not want to brick my phone at all! So any and all help would be appreciated Thanks in advance

ETF - Tmobile USA - Is it worth it?

First off, I'd like to apologize in advance if this topic has been discussed but after searching I have not found it.
I purchased two HD2 phones with the current BOGO offer. My mom has found the phone too be too much for her so I'm thinking of getting her something else like the 2G Iphone (yeah make fun of me but its easy for a 55 yr old woman who doesn't need much in a cell). Anyways, I was thinking of breaking the contracts on both phones and moving over to a EM+ plan. When I signed up for the family plan I paid a bit over $200 for the HD2 and no activation fees (corporate discount). So if I break this contract would these two phones run me the $200 for the 1st phone , 2 ETFs ($200 a piece) and a prorated amount of the cellphone plan? Is there something I'm overlooking that would make it more expensive than what I have calculated? Also can I cancel whenever or do I need to wait a certain amount of days?
Mods, if this is not in the correct subforum please move and I apologize for the inconvenience.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers
How long ago did you sign up? I'm not quite sure why you would want to pay over $400 in fees to stay with T-Mobile but switch over to the em+ plan. If you are within your 14/30 day remorse period just take your mom's hd2 back and get her a mytouch or something like that, they're easy enough to use. If your mom doesn't need that much in a phone I'm a little confused as to why you want to get her another smartphone anyway. Just buy a regular phone outright or on ebay. Sorry if this reply is unhelpful, I'm just a little confused about why you would go that route.

[Q] Buymobilephones.net

Has anyone received their handset through Buymobilephones.net yet?
I placed my order 3 weeks ago on a £25 T-Mobile tarrif and just keep receiving Stock Expected Soon e-mails.
I phoned them today as my O2 PACnumber expires soon and they told me that they were not expecting stock for a few weeks as T-mobile had pulled the phone for software issues. This is strange as I went to my local T-mobile shop at the weekend and they had 2 in stock which they were keen to sell me (well one of them at least) but I wasn't willing to pay the additional £10 per month or the £150 phone cost to keep the £25 contract.
So what's going on?
Buymobilephones.net defined a few weeks for me in case I needed any help in that regard as 4-6 weeks - that's a lifetime.
I think it might be time to cancel your order and buy elsewhere.
Judging by comments here on XDA and elsewhere, the vast majority of UK users experienced no more than a few days of waiting for their Omnia 7s, a week in some cases, but very rarely more than that.
3 kept me waiting for ten days before I cancelled my order with them and went with T-Mobile; my own experience with T-Mo was that the handset was out of stock when I ordered, but 24 hours later I was told that the handset was back in stock, and the morning after that, I received my handset, and that was ten days ago.
It's also worth noting that T-Mobile hasn't installed any software on the phone, so the usual network customisation delays don't apply here; the only soft customisation they've applied is a T-Mo logo splash screen on start-up.
Seems to me that you can either accept buymobilephones.net's explanation and sit tight until they deliver (£25pm with a free handset is a pretty good deal after all, and you can always request a new PAC from O2 once you've got a delivery date); or you can get on to buymobilephones.net and ask them why they're keeping you waiting when T-Mobile have been shipping these things out to their customers for a while now.
By the way, looking at the small print of that deal you've got, it appears that you can either have the unlimited text booster that they've 'included' in the £25pm price, or you can swap that for a web ('unlimited internet') booster. If you want to have both the unlimited texts AND the web, you'll have to get an additional booster for an extra £5 a month, so the total cost will be £30pm, not £25pm. You WILL need a web booster though, you can't do without it on this phone - but as long as you're happy to live with web but without the unlimited texts (you'll still get 500 texts included), you can keep the price down to £25pm.
If you need BOTH web and unlimited texts, maybe you can find an alternative deal elsewhere with a free handset for £30pm?
Right - you prompted me to act.
I phoned T-mobile and asked if they could improve their £35 per month Tarrif - they agreed to reduce it to £30 per month (600mins, 500texts, unlimited internet +an additional booster). Then I agreed and proceeded with the order and informed them that I was an existing customer - so they agreed to reduce it further. In the end I had to pay £35 for the handset but I received the above tarrif for £25. And better than that - my phone will arrive tomorrow.
Big fat smiley face.
Just hope the phone is good now.

That's an excellent deal.
I noticed today that the 10 day delivery had gone from the T-Mobile website so I rang them up to check and stock was back in but the best they could do for me was 30 pounds, the phone free, 3gb but at 2 years
I am never ever going to be tied into a 2 year contract, I hate having to sign up for 18 months as that is too long really. So I will have to wait until buymobilephones get them in stock as at least I can get 18 months at 25 pounds with the phone costing 10 pounds.
A plus for you is that you get the 3gb and high speed without having to phone the sales reps until one switches you over - they shouldn't really as its only for T-Mobile sales and not resellers.
Have fun tomorrow with your new phone.

I was in the exact same boat. Decided to call Orange (who I'm currently with) and quoted my "friend's" (your) t-mobile deal.
I managed to get 600mins, unlimited texts, internet, 3 extra magic numbers (I'm now on 6) and orange wednesdays ofcourse for £22.50 a month with the phone costing £15! Thanks "friend"!
I have a feeling that I may be on the rubbish 500mb internet but she didn't day. If I am then I will moan and see if I can get it to 1gb.
Phone arrives tomorrow. Can't wait. And buymobilephones.net, I want my 3 weeks of missed WP7 awesomeness back!
Think of it this way, by waiting 3 weeks you have saved money each month over the next 2 years
And anyone waiting on buymobilephones they have said the T-Mobile Omnia 7 is in Monday with enough stock to clear all back orders.
Looks like buymobilephones are expecting them from Tmobile on monday . Can't wait to play with mine. Check out their twitter feed!
Edit: As posted above by root beer.
Does anyone know if Tmobile know that the phone has been bought from a 3rd party reseller? I'm wondering because I want to try and get moved onto the 3gb fup. If I pretend I bought direct they might be more cooperative.

Well, surely they'll know that you didn't buy it from them, as there will be no record of the transaction. A third party reseller is a shop, don't forget. Buying from shops is normal.
Yes but the contract is with T mobile regardless of where I bought it from. I will be paying them directly for my contract. Its just I will only get the 1gb fup for buying from 3rd party.
Just called Orange and got the data increased to 1GB from 500MB free of charge with no hassle. If anyone here is on Orange and is a returning customer it should be no problem as you can't really expect to fully utilise this operating system with 500MB and I think the highest they have on their online plans is 750MB. Just be polite to the person on the phone.
i asked at upgrades and they said they couldn't do that for me but gave me a dongle for mobile internet for 500MB instead??
i guess i won't need the mobile wifi hotspot feature now but i think i still would have prefered 1GB or more

Odd. When I phoned them, they said they couldn't price-match. Maybe it's cause I'm not on orange at the moment.
Had pre-ordered the HTC Mozart, but it's still out of stock on orange. Might see if I can swap it for the Omnia 7 on T-mobile, seeing as it's in stock.
Well after 4 days using my new toy and after all that messing with BMP.net I have phoned T-Mobile to arrange for it to be shipped back to them. I am not happy - primarily with WP7. I hope it will improve given a few updates but having used various incarnations of WM6 I am not hugely confident.
So my phone is going back and I have ordered an HTC Desire HD to replace it - I love my Desire so I am sure the Desire HD will be fantastic. I will miss the AMOLED screen most of all - I do so like black to be black.
Do not buy from these people if you want proper internet!
I just got mine from them, and it's brilliant. Got a T-mobile 18 month contract with 600 min and 500 text and unlimited internet for £30 and free phone! Also, 5 month rental is half price! I just couldn't find a better deal than this!

Care to elaborate?
I wouldn't order from anyone else.
Ordered an Omnia 7 on H3G at 2.30pm and received the phone at 1pm the following day. Superb, quick service.
I really like WP7. The interface is clean and very quick. Internet, e-mails, text etc are all lightning fast.
I can't understand all those people who get a WP7 based phone, and then complain it doesn't do this or that. If you want a customizeable phone, go with Android or WM6.5.
WP7 devices are brilliant IMHO. At the end of the day it is a PHONE. If you want all the other bells and whistles.... Get a laptop!!!

Intransparent US market

Hey guys,
it's kind of frustrating for me. I have been browsing all kinds of forums and blogs to find out which prepaid plan fits me the best.
First of all: I am from Germany and will visit the US for 5 months as an exchange student. I have a plan (prepaid) in Germany where you pay
-no monthly fee
-data package 1GB for ~$17
-minutes/texts for ~$0.12 each
I am not a heavy texter or use many minutes. So I go by $25 a month for this (sometimes more, sometimes less).
I have been looking for a similar deal in the US but could not find any besides Ting and the $30 T-Mobile Plan. The problem with Ting is: cannot bring my own device. Buying a new one is not an option. My Samsung GT-I9001 is just great (It's GSM unlocked). The thing with the T-Mobile Plan is apparantly that I can only purchase or activate it online. Since I will not have a permanent adress in the States the first weeks that is not an option either. I cannot let it ship somewhere; will have to go to a store.
I really hope you can help me. And as the title already says I find the US carrier market after hours of research rather intransparent and the motto seems like "Go Big or Go Home". Either get an Unlimited Everything plan for $50 plus or use the (really crappy) daily or pay as you go deals (0.33c/MB is ridiculous).
Thank you for reading and taking your time.

The T-Mobile plan is likely going to be your best bet, and if you have a friend state-side that can accept your parcel for you, it's not a bad option.
You could get a new SIM card. They may sell them at a T-Mobile store but I bought a T-139 for like $30 bucks when I first got the plan from Wally World and then activated online I think. They can activate it at Wally World as well. Another option would be to do like Chit Chat Wireless (a local company from here in Wichita, but I think they have a national presence now) and for $9.99 you get 250 minutes and 4000 texts and then data plans are $5-30 on top of that plus tax. You would just need a Sprint device.
