Bad GSM/GPRS Signal after ROM upgrade - Blackstone - Touch HD General

Hi,
I have searched the platform, but none of the questions seem to covermy problem. I do apologize in advance if I just did not see it and it is still there .
Here is my problem:
I have updated my HTC Touch HD to WM6.5 (eps65v2). After that my reception started to really suck. I reinstalled back to BlackStone_HTC_GER_1.14.407.3_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship (which was working fine before the update, and it even shows me Radio Rom 1.09) Still my reception is really bad. I hardly can make calls in closed rooms, GPRS/Edge is not available most of the time. It is not really related to the location. Sometimes I don't have ANY reception where I had good signal 5 minutes before...
Please help, since I don't want to throw my Blackstone out.
Here is my current config (Updated back to 6.5):
ROM: 1.14.EPS GER
Radio: 1.14.25.24
Protocoll: 52.64.25.34U
Thank you all very much in advance

the symptoms you list suggest your device has the wrong SPL for WM 6.5. did you read how-to and then prepare your device before flashing a WM 6.5 ROM? does your bootloader look like this Pic of Bootloader with HardSPL (ignore the Serial at the bottom)? (you get to bootloader mode by powering off the phone, then press-and-hold the down volume button and quickly tap your power button (do not press and hold the power button) if your bootloader does not appear like the one in the picture, then your phone hasn't been properly prepared .... goto the Dummies Flashing Guide and follow the steps to prep for your phone. if you have problems post your questions in the dummies thread and you'll get help much faster than opening a new thread. if you've completed all these steps, what does your bootloader say?

SPL Version wrong
Hi,
Thank you very much for replying so fast!
I checked, and you where right, it shows only SPL 1.14
I will work through the dummies guide and let you know the results.
Again thanks for your support...

no problem...

Updated SPL, but same issues
Hi,
I have now updated the SPL as described, and my tri-color screen looks exactly like the one above. I have also updated to a new WWE ROM, because the colors of mine were totally off.
This is my new configuration now:
OS: 5.2.23.45
ROM: 1.59.841.58 WWE
Radio: 1.14.25.24
Protocol: 52.64-25.34W
Still I experience really bad connection. I have turned 3g off, since it doesn't work with AT&T anyway...
Any ideas?
Thank you very much in advance...

if your colors are off there's still something wrong. did you get that corrected? post your bootloader details here. does your bootloader say SPL 1.56 OliNex? also did you use HardSPL or USPL?

These aren't the details you need to post. Go into bootloader by:
1. Turning off device
2. Holding down volume down and then pressing power on. (Continue to hold volume down)
3. You should be presented with a tri-colour screen, this is bootloader.
We require your SPL, if your using HSPL it should state SPL 1.56.Olinex, if USPL, it should state 1.54.USPL before flashing rom

Hi,
The Bootloader screen shows:
BLAC100 32M
SPL-1.56.OliNex
MicroP-BlackStone (LED) v6
The colors were messed up before I upgraded to 1.59
Does that help?
Thank you!

HSPL 1.14 is to be used for roms based pre/before 1.56
HSPL 1.56 is to be used for roms based on 1.56+

Yes, that'swhat I had. HSPL1.56 and ROM1.59
Now I seem to have bricked the thing completely.
I have tried to step back to what I had before, and flashed the Stock SPL 1.13
Now I cannot Flash anymore. Not even the new SPL.
Is therea tool to get that SPL back to a unsigned version?
Thank you..

you never mention the model number of your device. do you have the Touch HD T8282 (UK model that doesn't have the US 3G) or the Touch HD T8285 (Telstra model with the 850 US 3G band)? also, the stock SPL for the UK model is SPL 1.14 and the Telstra model is 1.15. never heard that there was a SPL 1.13.
i suggest slowing down with all these changes; i sense you're frustrated and trying different things without a little planning ahead of time (feel free to correct me if i'm off base here). at this point, you should consider posting your help requests in the HardSPL 1.56 thread. i suggest you start by posting your bootloader settings so we know your starting point. if you don't get an immediate response, be patient. those that can help will respond with suggestions.

Would agree with cortez.i, take a step back, don't panic and try to relax. If you can still get into bootloader your phone is not bricked and should be easily recovered.
Post your future posts in HSPL thread and we'll help you together to sort out your issue

Did i bricked the Blackstone?

Hi dudes,
I hope that someone can help me:
I have a Touch HD (maybe its a bit overkill too tell this )
I hád a virgin phone a couple of hours ago
information from the first screen (with the boot sound e.d.):
Original RUU_BlackStone_HTC_NLD_1.56.404.1_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship
r 1.13.25.24
g 52.62.25.34u
d 1.56.00.00
And the SPL Screen:
Blac 32M
SPL-1.15.0000
MicroP-Blackstone (LED) v6
So what is the problem?
If i start the phone it "freeze" what means that you can only use the on/off button.
It freezes at the align screen.
I have multiple things allready tried:
1) Different SPL's
2) Different ROMS
3) Different Batteries
What should i do? (i'm almost sure that the hardware is working)
Kind Regards,
John
Hi John,
i noticed there from the output shown from your Bootloader screen it shows that you have spl version 1.15.0000. To upgrade to the ROM such as the one that you posted above, you need Hard-SPL 1.56 installed or 1.54.0000 USPL installed.
Regards.
EDIT: read this guide, it tells you how to upgrade to Hard-SPL 1.56 or USPL 1.54.0000. Once you upgrade to the required SPL, then you should have no problems flashing any of the latest custom ROMs.
the new output:
blac100 32mb
spl-1.56.Olinex
MicroP-Blackstone (LED) v6
And then??
It still freeze..

Okay mate. Then in that case, I would advise you to install a stock rom, then install hard spl if needed and you should be good to go. You can revert back to a custom ROM after you have installed the stock ROM.
With all my pleasure..
But.. then i need to change Radio and SPL versions.
I don't know which version was the original..
It is a dutch device with no brand or sim-lock
Can you help me with that?

Yes certainly, I shall try.
From your first post, it shows you were using radio version 1.13.25.24. Do you have the original RUU_BlackStone_HTC_NLD_1.56.404.1_Radio_52.62.25.3. 4_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe file? If you deleted it then that's ok.
You can download a Stock ROM version for your phone from here, Try entering your phones S/N or IMEI number to see if your phone is eligible for an upgrade and then use that ROM and matching SPL. Once you have flashed back to the Stock ROM, the Radio is normally included and so you should now have radio 1.13.25.24 as depicted in the ROM name
Next, follow the rest of this guide (see bottom of post #1):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431217
Let me know how you get on with that Jay.
Best regards.
Well..
I have reflashed the blackstone:
d: 1.13.25.24
g 25.62.25.34u
d.1.56.00.00
and bootmode
blac100 32mb
spl-1.56.olinex
microp-blackstone.
Now i'm gonna start with your link @ post #1
Hopefully i'm lucky
is it a problem tht i have also a 1.15 USPL?
And is it a goog idea to bring this thing also down to 1.13?
Because i have now the funny green screen..
and it stil "freeze"
You need to give a little more detail. I'm not sure what you have done and what it is that you are trying to do. If you are now using this rom - RUU_BlackStone_HTC_NLD_1.56.404.1_Radio_52.62.25.3 . 4_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe, then you will need to use a 1.54.0000 spl I believe and that is why you have a green screen using spl 1.13.
When did this freeze first start happening? Did you try to flash your phone to the rom above, or was that the rom on your phone all along?
As Mastoid said, you need to read the Flashing guide and follow it step for step.
the first freezing start after my first try to flash the phone to a 6.5 custom ROM.
I will flash 1.54 back on the phone and tell you what happend

As this is related to rom flashing, please will you move this discussion to the Flashing Guide thread. I'll try to help you there.
i don't know for sure if this is 100% ROM related, but maybe it is a better idea to move this topic too that sub-forum.. Or maybe i can ask to the users there if they wan't to look at this topic..

Which ROM for 9193 on AT&T?

Tried to load the official ROMs from the forum here, but both failed. Using a Telstra 9193 on AT&T. Can someone point me in the right direction? Do I need to load HSPL and a cooked ROM or is there something out there that's 'generic' I can use?
Sorry, new to the HD2. Already been through the ringer with my TyTNII but this is a new ballgame all over again, since I now have an overseas phone that's been flashed to another carrier.
Thanks!
you need hspl from the HSPL thread. NOT HSPL2, it wont work.
You need spl 1.42.0000 on your device to instal hspl, so if you have a later spl, 1.66.0000 for example, you need to find an earlier telstra rom to downgrade the spl.
Here, start reading.
I'm not a noob, already SPL'd my TyTNII, just needed to know which ROM was closest to the HTC OEM but unbranded from Telstra so I could start there and then begin noodling with what cooked ROMs I wanted to try.
Thanks for the pointer, I'll run HSPL and go from there. Just thought there might have been a generic HTC 9193 ROM available directly from HTC.

the model doesn't make any difference (well, at least in your and my case, its only tmous users that have any pitfalls )
for the plain roms (look in the official roms folder, first post first link is a great start) look for wwe htc in the name.there the unbranded ones, and go from there.

Tried both and they failed, then went to this thread and tried downloading the below ROMS but keep getting a failure - Error 294 Invalid Vender ID. Trying with both these ROMs:

RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship

Sam, I"m stumped. I must be doing something wrong. I have SPL 1.66.0000 on my phone which according to the instructions should be fine for the current HSPL, but it refuses to load indicating 'incorrect product id'. I've also tried downgrading the SPL version via the card by extracting and renaming the .nbh file and copying it to the card, but when I hard reset, the phone goes directly from the bootloader to the screen which prompts me to reset the phone, rather than any option presented that enables me to load a different SPL.
I'm stumped. The standard generic WWE ROMs won't load, I can't get HSPL to load and I can't force it via the card. I must be doing something wrong but just can't seem to pin it down, other than the usual 'keyboard-to-chair-interface'. I never had anywhere near this trouble flashing my TyTNII.
What are your thoughts?
Here's what's on my bootloader screen:
PB81110 HX-BC
SPL-1.66.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x40
OS Version 5.2.21869
Manila Version 2.520121431.1
ROM Version 1.72.814.0 (82124) WWE
Hey Mate,
I have the 9193 and Flash whatever whenever, now i'm seeing tmous and EUR and Telsrtra and I'm getting worried, can some one please explain the difference?
Thanks in advance
On an aside, I'm running Win7 Premium 64bit. Might that have something to do with this?
OK guys - finally go it. Had to locate and flash the Telus 1.48 ROM which took me a while to find. Got HSPL loaded and flashed a clean cooked rom. Thanks for the help!

Official HTC ROM Update for HD2 (Telstra)

I was just wondering if anyone in Australia has tested this new ROM on their HD2 device as I'm interested in experiences people are having with it. I got a response back from HTC that says the included versions are as follows:-
OS Version:
5.2.21869
Manila Version:
2.5.20121431.1
ROM Version:
1.72.841.0
Radio Version:
2.07.51.22.2
Protocol Version:
15.32.50.070
HTC claim that it improves SMS messenging and improves the overall touch responsiveness and software lag on the device. Can anyone confirm as I'd like to know before I make the effort to upgrade/reinstall everything. I'm also hoping phone reception and bluetooth audio has been improved in the Radio version upgrade included in this ROM.

Can't really comment on this as it did not stay on my HD2 long enough for me to find out. I can however tell you that you cannot flash HSPL from this rom. It sets your SPL to 1.66 which HSPL2 cannot seem to deal with. I had to downgrade to the older rom version and then run HSPL1.
Why do want all that terrible telstra bloat? I can tell you your phone will run much faster without it.
I don't want all the Telstra bloat, I hate it. I was encouraged when I saw the message from HTC that all carrier customisations would be removed after upgrading the ROM
If I don't go with this HTC ROM, what custom ROM do you recommend? I assume Energy?

just to correct you slightly, HSPL2 wont work on any telstra, nothing to do with the spl version, it is the telstra model ID that fails hspl2.
You are correct about HSPL needing 1.42.0000 to install though.

I like Energy but there are quite a few other roms out there. ROMs are such a personal choice. What works best for me may not be to your taste. Try a few and see how you go, Most of the chefs in here have been around for quite a while and are very experienced in cooking so you really can't go wrong. Just don't forget to HSPL your phone first and read the ROM threads regarding which radio rom will work best with their ROM.

Ahhhh, thanks for the correction and enlightenment. I had a feeling it had something to do with the model ID as that is the error message I got when trying HSPL2. Sneaky Telstra bastards....
Ditto the problem with this new Telstra update, I had the same problem. It changes the SPL so to 1.66.0000 which will block any attempt to use another ROM or HSPL. Revert back to 1.48 and you'll be OK.

if you plan on flashing cooked roms, but want to try the 1.66 update before hand, you can install HSPL first, and then when you run the .exe shipped rom (over USB), it will only change the rom and the radio, leaving HSPL installed.

My device originally had SPL1.42 on it. I did not flash to HSPL. And I upgraded to SPL 1.66 by flashing an telstra official rom, which brong me a SPL 1.66. And now I am stuck because I cannot use HSPL or HSPL2 to flash the SPL. Could you please tell me how to revert the SPL to an older version (1.42) then I could use HSPL to flash it again??? Thank you very much!!

I just realized that I could use the SPL revert procedure to revert the SPL
Uninstallation
Only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
All I need now its theolder Telstra ship ROM with SPL 1.42. I went to htc/australia wedsite, And they only have the new ROM available for download. Is there a place to download the older ship ROM?? Thank a lot!

This is easy, you just need to flash the older Telstra rom version that uses SPL 1.42.0000. The rom you are looking for is 1.49.841.1 and I think you can download it from HTCPedia. Just ensure it is the Telstra version. Flashing this will ovewrite your current 1.66 SPL back to the correct 1.42 SPL. When you have done this you can use HSPL version 1 and it will work. I know because I did it myself a few days ago
Correct. There is a telstra 1.49 (1.48?) rom floating about, several people have used it to downgrade. Start searching!

try flashing RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe and then the original HSPL and then a new ROM...

I have the 1.49.841.1 ROM installed and I cant flash to a HSPL/HSPL2 because I cant put any of the required ROMS on my phone:
I cant unlock my phone with MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe or anything else.
I am running out of ideas. If i try and install:
RUU_Leo_TMO_UK_1.43.110.0_Radio_Signed_15.25.50.07U_2.04.50.20_3_Ship
I get an error "Error 294 - Invalid Vender ID". So i google for some answers and i get:
pocketnow.com/tweaks-hacks/htc-hd2-custom-roms-waiting-hardspl
and
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=252704
Some how I can't get a correct software to unlock my phone so i can install a compatible ROM.
Anyone got any ideas?

I was also told my HD2 was locked to Telstra but it was not, (I don't believe any of them are now) I can send you the rom I used if you like? HSPL2 won't work as has been said before but HSPL does.
Another option I used while trying to get the right rom/HSPL working was to use SSPL, this worked great but does not allow you to change the radio, and until you can do that there are a few roms you cant use as they don't get on with the Telstra radio.
ps. I had a lot of similar error messages along the way...
I Got it, works perfect, I used the latest T-Mobile Rom from the U.S. on my T9193 Telstra, and its beautiful..thanks everyone for all the very helpful info, I could'nt have done it without you guys and keep up the good work..

[Q] Need some help

Hey all, i have some problems with radio. I checked all threads and didn't found anything on this1. I've done hspl or smth like that to 2.08.
The thing is about radio, currently i can't do further and i got white screen + green htc logo and stuck at it, as far as i know i need radio update.
I tried that, eventhough i'm stuck at 0%, the thing is i have NOT t-mobile as most ppl here have, i have htc hd2, it was bought in lithuania officially and i'm not sure which radio version or whateva i need or what i do wrong! Sry if i posted in wrong section or did smth wrong, anyway i need help! don't wanna brick my phone, just bought it few hours ago and can't use it

dk if it helps, but on htc site if i select rom to update and choose my serial it tells that this fits me:
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_1.48.479.1_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe
your hd2 is not unique; the majority have non-tmobile. actually there are many threads with your exact complaint.
but what you need to figure out is if you have hspl on it or not. you say you may have done it but then say 2.08 which seems more like spl.
so boot into bootloader, what does it say? then we can go from there!
2.08.HSPL, btw i found 1 user, he's from same country and city, propably got phone from lithuania too, he got in his sign: Radio v2.15.50.14 ;
can u check please if it's that radio ver?

If you boot into bootloader as the a ove post said you can check your SPL versiin this way. If you don't know how to do this just turn your HD2 off and then turn your HD2 back on but hd down the volume down button. The muticolor bootloader screen will come up. If you see SPL 2.08.0000 you have regular SPL. If you see SPL 2.08 HSPL then you have HSPL(Hard SPL) on your HD2. You should also se Cottula in the bootloader as well if you ha e HSPL.
You have a EU model HD2 so you can flash any radio version you want to flash and not brick your HD2. The issue of bricking a HD2 is only relavant to the T-Mobile(TMOUS) HD2. I suggest you flash radio version 2.15.50.14 it is the latest radio and the majority of poeple really like it.
Yay! downloaded that1, tried, and now it installed, and successfully! btw be4 that i installed magldr and it didn't worked cause was stuck, now it's loaded! gonna try wp7! yay! ty guys for fast answers!

Yeah MAGLDR requires a TMOUS compatible radio version to work. That is why you were having trouble before but gou have a TMOUS compatible radio version now so MAGLDR works. Hope you enjoy your HD2, and glad you got it working. I got your PM too by the way.

[Q] Hd2 wont flash android or revert to windows spl 2.00.2 HELP ME

pb81120
spl-2.00.1000 xe
heres what i have done so far. i task29 the device tried to flash radio to 2.15. i found that my spl had to be either updated or downgraded and i have tried to upgrade it and it sits at the htc scree at 0%. i also have tried flashing an official rom which will not take either. any help would be much appreciated thanx in advance
oops, that's a manufacturing test spl, and cant easily be changed.
In a nutshell, flash a rom with spl 2.02 ( go see the "tmous test and stock roms" thread, second in the list do NOT NOT NOT flash the first rom in the list if you have a tmous) and then find the version of hspl that has been edited to work with spl 2.02, use that to set spl 2.08 and then you should be good to go.
Dont just dive in, read THIS and THIS and if you decide you need a goldcard then send me your sd cards unique serial and an email address.
could you link me to the tmous test and stock roms? or tell me what section its under please and do you have yahoo or meebo skype anything? i need help baaaaad its a customers fone and was supposed to be done tonight would appreciate alot if you could help me get this done
its in the winmo tmobile section. If the phoen isnt a tmous, then you will possibly need a goldcard since those roms are tmous roms.
I cant help you step by step, its 3am and im away shortly, good luck tho, and don't be rash, thats how mistakes get made.
2.03?
all those rom links are down do you know where i could get a 2.03 rom from? seem that was what worked for one of our members.
