3G Frequencies - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hello, I bought a Mytouch in the USA.. unlocked it and now i'm using it without problems in Argentina.. we use the same frequencies for 3g than the USA.. yet i can't get the phone to pick up 3g.. anything i could do to fix this?

I have no luck.. noone knows?

T-Mobile uses 1700MHz for 3G which is different than AT&T. check what frequency your carrier uses.

HTC HD2 3G Not Detected!!!!!

Hello if someone could help me with my 3G connection inquiry, I would greatly appreciate it.
I bought this phone unlocked from Hong Kong and brought it back to Canada. But the 3G connection through Rogers won't work. I am able to connect to edge (When i pop in my sisters sim card which has a data plan, as my sim card currently does not have a data plan).
I talked to Rogers and they said that everything is compatable (After mentioning the phone frequencies and speed capabilities) and that the only reason 3G isnt working is that I have not configured my phone properly for 3G and at this moment it is configured for 2G (Edge).
I then contacted HTC and they said the reason was because "for the Rogers network, their 3G signal is operated on the 850/1900 MHZ band and the Touch HD2 operates on the 900/2100 MHZ band." Could this be the reason? Will i never taste the pleasures of a 3G connection?
PLEASE HELP!!
since you have bought it in hongkong most probably you have the asian version. It comes with 900/2100 MHZ bands and as you mentioned ROger needs 850/1900 frequency.
You could also get Telstra version from Australia and unlock it as it has 850/1900 frquency so that you could get 3g. But not possible on the one you already have.
Yea its the frequencies. When I take my phones abroad, I always check what frequencies the country has. If the frequencies don't match, the phone won't work in terms of placing calls, 3G etc.
is there a way to unlock ?

There is no software that can get around this "problem"
It is purely a hardware limitation.
perhaps with flashing radio but i'm not shure

Nope, it still will not support the correct bands that he needs
This is a completely hardware related problem
simple solution....
simple solution...sell it or trade it fot the right one

What is the frequency on your phone? It may not support 3G for tMobile.
BTW< overseas are different. Like mine is from Australia and it works only with AT&T 3G./
the freq is 2100+900 while tmobile operate on 2100+1700 which mean i should be able to get 3G, at least in some areas where 2100 is supported...
anway, one of my friends told me that at&t support the overseas band freq for unlocked mobile
are you using HD2 (overseas )with AT&T and getting 3g?
Well...whatever they say is true, you can get 3G if you have AT&T
The t-mobile frequency is different from the others...
P.S. I got my HD2 from Hong Kong, Now I am in US
Thanks for your replies...
i guess i would have to switch to AT&T while i dont like them

UK Legend 3G bands & T-Mobile US

I'll be moving back stateside this August and I'd love to use my sim free Legend on a gsm provider back home.
T-mobile US 3G bands are (900/AWS/2100 MHz)
The Legend is specified for use at: HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
Can anyone clarify if I'll be able to get 3G on a T-mobile US sim?
Or even knowing the bands are similar does the fact that T-mobile uses AWS and not HSPA/WCDMA mean I wont get 3g?
Any type of clarification would be helpful

Hey man, you might have figured this out already but, as far as I can tell, you can't use the T-mobile US 3G bands on the legend. I got my legend over the interwebs and put my t-mobile SIM in there, and although there's 2g data, no 3G. I don't really mind though, it's an awesome phone and it gets plenty of second glances since there's nothing like it here in the states. I'm also around wi-fi most of the time i need it, but it would be awesome to get that 3G working.
I've looked around a little but can't find anything. Does anyone know if this is even physically possible? And if so, how? Thanks.

Galaxy s 9000 with tmobile 3g usa?

Anyone here have the galaxy s 9000 euro version working with tmobile 3 g in usa?
I'm also interested in that. I'm about to buy a galaxy here in EU but I'm moving to california soon. There should be no issues however since the galaxy is a quad band phone
I looked into importing a HTC Desire from Tmo UK for use here on Tmo's US network -
Tmo europe uses 2100 band for 3g, Tmo US uses the AWS IV band (1700/2100) for 3G - i did a little more research and found that 2100 was the download side and 1700 for upload - and as Tmo here in the US told me my Tmo MyTouch 3G would work fine in europe, i figured i'd be good to go - maybe only have 3G speeds on the download side
got hold of a 2nd level tech at Tmo and he 'xplained it down't work that way - if the Tmo US network doesn't see both freqs (1700 & 2100) it will switch me to 2G data speeds
so answer is, it'll work for phone calls, but data speeds will be limited to 2G

I can confirm, I did a lot of digging myself and found the same thing. I'm from the UK but living in the US for a year or so. I was going to get a Galaxy S from ebay but realised they didn't have the 1700 freq so wouldn't get 3g with T-mobile over here ion the US.
My Iphone 3g from the UK only gets edge data transfer speeds here in the US as it too is missing the important 1700 freq...

thank you guys then it's good to know the vibrant is out next week

Finally figured this out too after posting questions in different places. Found this article which had a very detail explaination.

One thing I'm wondering is if it is possible to flash the android radio version from a Vibrant on to an international Galaxy S to enable Tmobile AWS?
that question is best answered by someone far more knowledgeable than i am in software and android OS
i want 3g
I just recently bought the unlocked galaxy s to use for when I study abroad in Germany in the coming months. However, I am experiencing the very issue raised in this thread and have been searching high and low to find a solution to change the radio frequency to include both 1700 and 2100. Hopefully, flashing the firmware from the vibrant to the unlocked galaxy s will work, but I'm not experienced enough to even know where to start.

[Ask] How to enabling 3G/hsdpa capped?

I bought this HTC Aria from USA and use it at my country (Indonesia) But unfortunately the signal is capped to search only gprs or edge, cannot hooked to 3G or hsdpa network..
I also have the asian market Aria, that works perfect in "wcdma only" netwotk. It don't have at&t logo on the upper right screen.
Question is how to make this at&t Aria working on my country wcdma network, bcoz I think that hardware already supported.. I just don't know how to hack it
I believe that its all about software or radio file or something like that , so I put my question here in this sub thread.. So sorry if I do a wrong post.

I think it is more a frequency issue than a lock issue. This is a world phone and no frequencies are locked. But if your carrier doesn't use the same 3G frequencies, it will not work on 3G. The 3G frequencies for the Aria are 850mhz and 1900mhz. Your carrier is probably using 900mhz and 2100mhz for 3G. Your only fix (if this is your issue) is to either buy another phone or change carriers.
Not to threadjack, but do any US carriers use the [apparenlty] more common 900/2100mhz for 3G?

Nope. Neither AT&T or T-Mobile use 900/2100 for their 3G frequencies. AT&T uses 850/1900 and T-Mobile uses 1700(AWS).
The Aria should work
HSPA/UMTS/EDGE/GPRS/GSM; Dual Mode UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (1900/850MHZ) & GSM/GPRS/EDGE (Quad band 850/900/1800/1900MHZ); HSDPA/UMTS (3GPP Release 5 Compliant; 7.2 Mbps Enabled) EGPRS Functionality

It's supposed to be a quad band.
No the HTC aria is not quadband for 3g or hsdpa. Basically there is a US versiont the 850/1900 . In Taiwan they released another version with the 900/2100. So if where you live doesn't have a place that uses the 850/1900 your basically stuck w/ 2g speeds.
