Hi, I just bought my first mobile with windows mobile system.
At the moment I see from Device Information:
ROM version: WM6.1de LUC WWE.
Well I would like to try different op systems like WM5 and WM6. But I can't find any tutorials for newbies. Also I live in Estonia and I would like to use as a phone, so what about the unlocking? At the moment it's unlocked, but if i flash it, does this change anything?
no it will still be unlocked if you flash it.
Oh good, then I can flash it, right now I have some old data from the previous user and I have some problems with connecting to the operator.
E: I am trying out tomal versions right now, but is there as simple as the tomal installer with wm5.0?

Can I turn off the ActiveSync, so it would not be running when I am not connected to the PC?
Also I was looking at the screen and I saw that couple of millimeters from each side there is black line. So is it possible to switch it to "full screen" or is it normal?
Finally I would like to know how to change the start bar's height and other menu sizes?
For activesync:
To get rid of this, do the following: Start Active Sync on your Wizard, then
Select menu -> select configure Server -> Enter just any name for server - select next - select advance - do not change drop down boxes and select next. Then unselect all check boxes - select finish. Then select menu again - select schedule - For both drop down boxes select Manually. Then push OK button. Now ActiveSync will not restart itself.
Try to use search and read a lot, with that most of your questions will be solved.

Hi
Remove the drivers from your PDA by going to start-> settings->system-> remove program. Select the entries for the Sandisk card and remove them. Soft reset your PDA and then try the drivers from the website for PPC 2003.
After the driver has been installed. Please do another soft reset of the PDA and then insert the card.
Here is the configuration that should be on your PDA. The bluetooth support should be disabled. Tap on the two arrows on the top of your PDA. go to settings-> click on connections and then the advanced tab. then Tap on the network card to connect to your access point (AP). AP browser will be grayed
out, This is normal as we didn't develop a utility for pocket pc 2003. Make sure you have the automatically connect to non-preferred network option checked. If there are no items listed in the wireless networks box you can add your AP by tapping on "Add new Setting" Type the network name for your wireless network. You can find this in the configuration of your router. After you enter the name make sure "connects to" is set to "The Internet" and then tap on the authentication Tab. If you are not using the wep key, you can uncheck the box for wep. If you are using it on your router make sure to set it exactly the way it appears on your AP. When you finished making all those changes please tap on OK that appears up at the top. IF your AP is on, and within the range, you should see connected next to it and the tower to the left of it will have a
blue ring around the top. If you see a red X on the tower and it shows unavailable you should check the following:
1-IS the AP on
2- Is it in range 3- are your settings correct.
Once you see the connected next to your AP you can tap ok twice and begin using your wireless access.
It works for me

I find this solution for running ActiveSync connected thru BT via one click. I tried it on my MDA Compact and it works.
Hope it helps.

On the Pocket PC...
1. ActiveSync / Tools / Options... / Options... (yes options twice)
2. "When cradled Enable PC sync using this connection" 'Bluetooth
3. Startup an ActiveSync connection as you normally would...
4. Now setup a shortcut to the program "windows\repllog.exe" into the Start menu. To do this
a. open up Explore in ActiveSync
b. Go into My Pocket PC
c. Go into Windows folder
d. Find repllog.exe and right click and select copy
e. Go into the Start Menu folder (within Windows folder)
f. Right click, paste shortcut - rename to something like ActiveSync Direct
Back on the Pocket PC
5. Gracefully disconnect ActiveSync.
6. Start / Settings / Buttons
7. Choose Button 4
8. Set the button assignment as ActiveSync Direct (or whatever you called it above) and click OK
9. Reset your Pocket PC and wait about 15 seconds for everything to get loaded (esp. Bluetooth which takes a little while).
10. Press the top left side button. Voila! Easy!
If you get the ActiveSync - "Port Not Available" message, it just means that Bluetooth hasn't loaded yet. Tap OK, check that Bluetooth is activated and if so, try again.
Thanks for the post. Ive been having trouble getting this to work however.

Im using WM5, and firstly i dont have the option..option menu and secondly when i try to paste repllog it tells me that the file is copy protected or something like that.
Any ideas???
Help appreciated.....
Try to use Resco File Explorer instead of M$ Explorer. When you 'right click' on Windows/repllog.exe, there is 'Send To...' -> 'Start Menu as Shortcut' option in menu.

remove your stack from PC, then delete all com ports except 1 & 2 , use buttons windows + break & install stack again!

Hi guys,
great work! Much appreciated!
Only one problem here:
After upgrading my ba to wm6 under vista (yes, i read _and_ understood the wiki) it is not possible to connect via usb/cradle.
I downgraded and upgraded again - with no errors at all. Nothing. Same Prob. I checked the wmdc-settings. usb-con is checked. Several soft/hardreset and reboots so far. When I put the ba in the cradle the usb-sound sounds and thats all. Not even a mobile device in the devicemanager...
H E L P !
A PPC with no sync is not good!
THX
see if your BA is set up correctly
1. using file explorer, click on windows/async.lnk
2. choose menu/connections/
3. tick on synchronize all PC's using this connection, and choose "USB"
when i try to locate the async.lnk it has - as every file in this folder - a memory-chip-icon. Taping on it brings a error screen reading:
Code:
async.asy##
The file 'async' cannot be opened.
(Clicking on the 'Album'-Memory-chip-icon starts 'Album'... crazy!)
So I clicked on the Acrivesync-icon under programs and checked the connection-settings. Everything fine.
Any more Ideas...
Jipiee!
I just reinstalled WMDC - and viola!
Pfft! That one took hours to figure out!
So - Thanks a lot!
How to "attach" USB Tool and activate "Internet Sharing" automatically at startup ?
I "liberated" my XP downgraded HTC Shift and succesfully tested 3G connectivity.
The problem is that every time I restart the device, I have to:
1) enter WM
2) Attach device via USB Tool
3) Enable Internet sharing
As WM is an operating system, I guess how to do this automatically. Can I write a "bat" file to do these steps or do you have any advice to achieve this ?
Any help MUCh appreciated.
Regards.

go to wm -win start menu --settings--connection--ub to pc--enable advance network connectivity.
this should fix the problem, cheers
Unfortunately, it does not solve the problem.
I noticed that the only thing I have to do is to activate Internet Sharing.
How to do this at startup, automatically ? Has WinMo some autoexec file or startup folder ?
Thanks.
Up, please. I'm so near to surf only starting up my shift
Up. Up. Up. Up.
Yes I'm sure you can do all of that with Mort Script,
Good luck!
And don't forget to post your final results so other users would enjoy of that!
unapproachable2kx,
can you support me ?
Maybe you can just drop the shortcut for the application on the startup folder or maybe DotFred's TaskManager can help(http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm).

WinMo has a startup folder (\windows\startup\) that you can create a shortcut for "Internet Sharing" inside, the problem is that you need a parameter with the shortcut to run the "Activate" conmmand in "Internet Sharing"; 'cause a normal shortcut will just run the app, then you'll have to press Activate manually (we want to automate that too); same thing for "USBTool". Unfortunaltely, I don't know the set of parameters for the shortcuts.
Or try looking for some advanced shortcut creation tools for WinMo, like in this list

Hey guys, I found how to upgrade the HP 6945 in a brazilian website and I tried, IT WORKS! I'll explain how to do so now that I can post URLs
First of all, and which is a bit difficult nowadays, you need to use Windows XP, I saw cases that the people have done the upgrade in a virtual machine, but it didn't worked for me.
Let's go to the specifications of your mobile: your Flash Type MUST BE G4 and your BootLoader MUST BE G.39 , if you don't know you can see that in your mobile "Start/System/HP Asset Viewer"
Let's start,
1. Connect your mobile by ActiveSync (you'll need the 4.1 version as your mobile is WM5) using the cradle/dock/usb (was recommended to do a Hard Reset, but it's optional. To do so press On/Off , Send and Cancel Calls buttons, then use the PEN (Stylus) to press the Reset button under the mobile)
ActiveSync 4.1 - http://www.mediafire.com/?blql91lb1cqfq5z
2. Download and extract the file "SPL vG.39.7z" - http://www.mediafire.com/?o243pua8x7c0j0h
3. In the "SPL vG.39" folder, look for a shortcut named as "Command Prompt" and execute it
4. Now write this line in the command:
pdocwrite spl -n0 -b 0x20000 0 0x80000
5. You'll receive in your mobile a message about a dll (itsutils.dll) Press YES.
6. Now you have to put your mobile in BootLoader mode. Press the two buttons next to the directional + On/Off + Reset (using the Pen[Stylus])
7. Now open the ActiveSync and go to "connection configurations". Deselect the box "Allow USB Connections".
8. Download and extract the file "6915_ENG.7z" - http://www.mediafire.com/?kgwl83e22e2oody
9. Open the folder and execute "Sable_RUU.exe"
10. Press Upgrade and WAIT for a message "Update finished!"
11. Go back to ActiveSync (now you should use the 4.5 Version), go to "connection configurations" and select "Allow USB Connections"
12. Enjoy.
Everything is working, and you now have a new Office Package, including OneNote.
Your calls are better, don't freezing. The only problem is that SMS don't do any sounds when it arrives, but it's just the SMS.
The bluetooth you'll need to go to the Settings/Connections for the first time to work, but it's just once.
I have all the downloable content, if the link don't work, email me.
The original Rom of your iPAQ you can be found at HP's website named as GSM Radio Firmware, if you want, but I don't mind you'll need it.
The original website is in Brazilian-Portuguese, I've just translated for you.

That's everything. =)
