Yes!
This made my monday great
(endelig har svenskene fått til noe bra)

I don't (and won't) have the premium service but I installed it anyway!

Thx for the news, but it seems like for free version you need an invit?
Does anyone have one more?

You have to pay to use it on your android.. (or iphone)

is it just me or is it pretty laggy, esp pulling up the playing now screen?

I have a premium account but the DAMN market won't give me Spotify... it doesn't show up. Just because I'm in Finland? Aaaaargh!

Hmm, it should show up. Try to clear the cache..
It's a free app..

I am in Finland and tried this today, works great! I seem to recall adding external links to these posts is forbidden, so if you need the Spotify APK file to install on your Android, head over to the Swedish forums (of a site called Swedroid) and read the threads about the new release - somebody put up a link to the apk-file there.
I listened to Spotify on my way to work today and it's awesome! No lag at all, even though I always go through areas with really bad HSDPA reception...
Edit: I see the first post in this thread has a link and since the spotify client is free, this shouldn't be considered piracy (?). Mods, remove the link if you are in doubt. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MNTO3B06. Sorry.

Looking forward to giving this a whirl.

"The mobile service has been made available exclusively to Spotify Premium members in the majority of our launch countries including the UK, Sweden, Spain, France and Norway. Spotify is not yet available on Android Market in Finland."
This sucks. But thanks jayjay, will try that out!

Simply awesome, doesn't feel like a beta at all. On t-mobile stock rom and the app is snappy with no lag. Works fine over hsdpa. offline playlists are great but still dont know if theres a limit on how much can be downloaded or if they have a time limit.
Only gripe so far is that the t&c say that a day pass gives you access but wouldn't let me until I bought full premium.

Yeah the £9.99 monthly fee is putting me off to be honest. Another tenner on top of my monthly contract, no ta.

Stick to ripping off the artists eh?

Nah, just use my own MP3's.

Not everyone steals music! He could have ripped them from a CD, or paid to download them from somewhere else.

I always buy CD's, then import them into my Itunes.
I seem to be one of the few people who still likes to buy CD's for the album work, CD inserts etc

Oh, never mind my previous "secret spotify apk link". It seems you can download the Android apk straight from the spotify website, which makes much more sense than some free download service.

Apparently the artists aren't getting anything from Spotify anyway. Buying CD's or MP3's from iTunes/Amazon et al seems to be the only way to ensure the artist is compensated for their work. Which is pretty rubbish.

Recommended Apps on the Market

So I got g1 last night and I love it, downloaded a few apps from market so I figured I would share recommendations for apps I have so far. First tmobile hot spot locater is a must. Also got myspace which is cool but not really needed. Wikimobile is awesome, a must have and any cut program allows you to place shortcuts on homescreen on just about anything on your phone, including battery. Which programs has everyone else found useful, recommend?
Downloaded
Stopwatch
Flashlight
Spelldial - love it!
Bistromath
Ringdroid - mp3 cutter
Pacman

Quickpedia
Yellow book
Anycut
Hotspot locator
I installed:
"ShopSavvy" its great
"AnyCut" Great as well
"T-Mobile Hot Spot Locator"

Cool thanks gonna switch em out right now!
I didn't like the solitare interface. It was a forced landscape, and the card sizing is funky...not the cards themselves, but the symbols/numbers. They should've taken a cue from WinMo and made the hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades oversized so that they're more visible.

Twitter tab numpty?

Am I being a numpty?
In the Twitter tab, I can't see a way of bringing up a list of who I'm following in Twitter.
Is it just me, or is it not actually there?
Ta.
Ha no I can't find that option either. So no, you're not alone
I just wanted to tweet @ somebody, and can't figure out how! Guess it's back to having a seperate app
Yeah same problem here. Although I'm a WM6.5 n00b so if you find a decent Twitter app that works well can you let me know what it is??
Cheers.

I was using Panoramic moTweets on my HD, and that was great. I tried a few others, and they're all pretty much the same, but I'd recommend that.
There's a free version with an add at the top of your tweets list, or a paid version that was only a few dollars.
http://www.panoramicsoft.com/mobileapps/motweets/moTweets.php
I think it's now available on marketplace as well, but I'd never recommend that piece of poo until you can install on your storage card as standard!
I'll give it a whirl, great stuff, thanks.

New HD2 & No BBC iPlayer WTF

ok so I've been a winmo user since inception and have resisted the urge to go iphone
i held off for the HD2 but finally got it a few days ago. Its nice and smooth but where is the wow after a couple of hours use? wheres the cool new stuff ?
I thought lets try some video playback...thought BBC iPlayer
no i Player...so I trawl posts to find hacks and other programs to use. half an hour later ....then I'm thinking WTF...its a dam new phone and here I am having to f*%k around with it straight out the box
WTF is wrong with HTC....I mean surely they could have got off your lazy dumb arses and got some decent new fresh apps put on their premium device for launch by operators
Its not exactly that the BBC is a minow.
And what the hell is wrong with the operators taking ****ty product again from HTC. (Vodafone gave HTC a chance...sure Iphone is more profitable but I'm sure it didnt help with a crap release ROM...why put up with up when there is other products you can sell without the hassle). I'm not asking HTC to get it right with every phone but this is your premium device FFS
HTC need to employ people that live in the real world not Asia where if it dont work it dont matter
I for one will have no sympathy if HTC fail
Haha, why didnt you bu an iphone? BBC iplayer, muahahahahha.
I think you should buy iphone and get off this forum!
no idea why you're blaming HTC for iPlayer not working, BBC need to add support for the HD2 in order for it to work straight out of the box
This is the fix;
36. Get BBC iPlayer Mobile Website Working on HD2
The current Opera 9.7 version on the HD2 is not detected by the BBC iplayer website. Here is a modifcation to Opera preferences you can do to get it to work.
HLKM/Software/Opera/Prefs/User Prefs/Custom User-Agent
Change from HTC_HD2_T8585 Opera/9.7 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) to HTC_Touch_HD_T8282 Now go to http://bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer. Videos are opened in your Streaming App on your phone.
which is located in this thread.
You will need a Registry Editor which is also in the same thread.
Hope this helps
So because a device doesn't support iPlayer out of the box, it sucks ?
Nice logic.

Any way in the first place, before buying anything, he should read and get info of the haves and no haves of the current devise.

Lets say HTC plan a new phone release....whos job is it to contact BBC with the device and get it compatible for release rom ?
It aint the BBC's job to predict every phone coming to the market ?
Its the phone manufacturers responsibility to work with content providers so that the phone manufacturers product is released with compatible software

HTC = designed in asia, made in asia
and it shows
Apple release 2 phones and sell it to the masses
HTC release 2 many phones and struggle for mass appeal
Dont get me wrong....I've never owned an apple product ...not even a ipod!
I'm no HTC hater either...just wish they would slow down...

It is the BBC's resposibility to add iPlayer support for new mobile devices NOT HTC's. I guarantee you that HTC DID contact the BBC to let them know about the HD2 way before it got released. However... there isnt much HTC can do to speed up the BBC process of adding support to iPlayer.

Resolution differences and different applications used for streaming content.... plus all the different variants of windows mobile itself.
I've tried the opera fix in the past, but the result is terrible. the video playback was so choppy, and then mostly green blurs etc. I can understand that if you're streaming 3G, but not if using your using wifi.

to me its HTC with insufficient resources...if they stopped making 3000 other phones maybe they would have just sat down and defined core software that was a must have for release ROM
then you just get the job done....anyone can see its the premium device competing with iphone so why wouldnt both HTC and BBC get it right
unless there is evidence to the contary, HTC decided it wasnt core for release...which is just poor when its their premium product
the phone had been about for a while being reveiwed before it was released, gave the bbc plenty of time to get an application for their system out, it isnt upto htc to release applications for sites

I have the i'm Watch (imwatch.it) I thought in buying the Sony one. But now that the have released the Sideload Manager and it now accepts a least to the best of my knowledge, Android 1.6 apps and have installed and run Angry Birds, Dolphin Browser, Opera Mini, all seem to work fine, and saw the awful Browser for the Sony, I am really no longer so sure.
If one could install, any software like in the I'm Watch into the Sony one, I will probably be buying the Sony soon. If there are limitations, probably not.

It's cheaper than the I'm watch. You can find them on ebay for between $50 and $200. I don't think that's a reason.
Although, the root tool I developed for it has been downloaded over 11,000 times now, so apparently it's being used quite a bit lol. I just want more of you guys to recognize its awesomeness.

Ah yes! I need to add the metawatch! The rock watch is on ebay, and I think on amazon too. I can't remember who makes it, but the real world battery life is not so great, from my understanding. Still, it looks neat lol. I will complete my chart tonight if I'm able, with all their features, such as wifi, gps, vibration function, etc. I'll also try to add pictures. If you guys know if any of those prices are wrong, let me know? I tried to find retail prices for them but had problems.

Thanks for all of your hard work -- not easy to pull all the details together.
The prices you've cited look pretty accurate to me. (Note that Pebble has set $150 for non-kickstarter pricing.)
