[cyanogen 4.04] incall volume very loud - myTouch 3G, Magic General

is anyone else having the issue where the in call volume through the handset is loud, even at the lowest volume? im not getting much of a difference between lowest and highest volume setting.

ok, i just updated to 4.1.2.1 and the volume is a bit better, but the lowest setting is still louder than i remember.

Common issue.

ive found the massive collection of audio problems, going to try and work with the person to build up files for each network:

reignzone, do you think you can possibly pull the audio files from the tmobile network?

Here's an alternative.

I could push you my MEDIA folder...which consists of the audio notifications from the HTC Hero. Unless of course you were referring to AUDIO as in sound quality signals from the network itself? I doubt very much that I'm capable of doing that. Even if I provided a dump for someone...typically that type of information or settings rather, it's a developers primary goal.
Just be patient. Cyanogen says he's running Google 1.6 as of earlier this evening. He will be releasing an update to the masses THIS WEEKEND for sure. That ROM is fully cooked when he drops it. Trust me.

i might have found the solution.
in /system/etc the AudioPara4.csv file found in cyanogen's rom's are for the Dream, i was able to find a dump of the stock tmobile rom (credit goes to whoever did this, i closed the tab so i dont know exactly who you are) and the file i got is for the sapphire, its just a simple case of replace files.
i looked over and i found some differences in the earcuple and handsfree section of the file. if anyone needs these files i can make them available the instructions are as follows:
put Sapphare AudioPara4.csv into /sdcard/snd
su
mkdir /sdcard/bak
cd /system/etc
busybox cp AudioPara4.csv /sdcard/bak
cd /sdcard/snd
busybox cp AudioPara4.csv /system/etc
i did notice a slight difference in the volume.
dont forget to reboot.
now you can do louder volume hacks without affecting the volume of the earpiece, if you know what you are doing.

motorola ht820 sound quality issue!

hello everyone,
i FINALLY got my bt headset working and now im able to listen to mp3 in stereo quality
but the quality is a really big disappointment! During the playback there is some kind of a noise in the background, its hard to describe how it sounds, but its aweful certainly and makes the listening to music painful! it only happens in certain sound frequencys, especially those where there is a human voice.
I have no problem with bass, or instrumentals only. The hardware buttons for forward / back and so on works fine, there is some stuttering from time to time, i can bear that. But that background noise is unbearable.
What might be the problem? did I forget to install some protocol? Or does the motorola just suck? (hardware problem?)
I would be glad if someone can come up with an answer!
ok,
let me clarify about the noise: its a high frequent sharp sound, just ANNOYING!
Dumb question : you have checked the audio files are otherwise good ? It sounds similar to a 'cooked' mp3 file.
hey, i did check the audio files, and they are fine!
I just found out that it is a common problem having the high pitch noise while listening to mp3 via bluetooth.
After reading this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=968791#post968791
I tried out the registry hacks and it DID NOT help! Whenever I tried to add the key:
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Bluetooth/AD2P/Settings/BitPool
(Dword: 60)(Default is 30)
it just automatically disappeared after a softreset, the key isnt there by default.
Im using the lvsw aku 2.3.1 rom.
What can I do? Please HELP!
ps, i found out if i turn down the treble, it reduces the high pitches. but that cant be the real deal! it must be some other way!?
update:
i have installed the aku33_a2dp.cab provided by "joe_dude" and change the registry values like usejointstereo=0
but nothing works, still got this annoying high pitch noise...
Hi savant,
I am using the ht820 with a imate jamin, and have no problem at all. i followed the procedure laid out in the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=263745.
Make sure that you read the complete thread as there is a cab file that edits the registry for you. I tried it and mine worked flawlessly the first time. I am using pocketmusic as my mp3 player.
hello cvrbit!
thank you for replying, the link you gave me is about the installation of a2dp protocoll on the prophet, which I already did.
I have double checked my registry and all the necessary keys are there. I even use a newer a2dp protocoll from the acu 3.3
I searched everywhere on google and in this forum it seems there is no real solution to that.
It does seem that some HT820 user have no high pitch noise issue and some do, I dont know why.

Volume on my incredible is too loud :(

I just got an HTC incredible, but it's crazy loud - the lowest call volume setting is loud enough that it's a little unpleasant to talk on it.
Are there any technical fixes I could do for this? I'm running a rooted stock ROM right now, and I have adb working although I'm not completely sure what to use it for other than installing apps.
I would imagine that there must be some kind of configuration file somewhere which sets overall speaker gain. Any thoughts?
Hmm, the only solution I can think of is to go with a bluetooth headset, but maybe someone smarter can provide a cost-free solution.

[SOLVED] Call Quality (unrelated to robot voice)

So I have installed Android on my HD2 that I picked up off of craigslist last week. All in all it runs excellent, but I have been plagued with 1 bug that I just can't seem to fix.
When I make or recieve a call, the call quality on my HD2 sounds great, but the person on the other line gets a reasonably loud amount of static on their line. In addition, the other party will also have a slight echo. With the echo and the static, it is pretty difficult for the other person to hear me, and have a normal conversation.
I have tested the phone when in WinMo and neither line has any static or echo, so it would seem to be a problem within the android software.
Here's what I am running:
Radio 2.15.50.20 (upgraded from 2.08.50, didn't affect call quality)
Latest Energy WinMo Rom
HD2ONE CM 6.1 Stable
Has anyone else had any issues like this? If so I would greatly appreciate your opinions.
edit:
I have been discussing the issues with a co-worker, and after a few tests we are pretty confident that the microphone on the HD2 is acting like it is in speakerphone mode (like the gain on the mic is cranked to the max).
Also, I tested the quality of the mic using the the sound recorder, and it sounds crystal clear.
edit 2:
After digging through tons of threads I finally found an answer. Anyone else having this issue take a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860850 and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805002
All that was required was the following commands in the terminal emulator
su
mv system/etc/firmware/default.acdb system/etc/firmware/default.bak
reboot and hopefully your problem is solved, if not take a look at one of those links above, you may need to copy over a new default.acdb

The back speaker is very good and loud, with bass, and no trace of distortion. The phone spekaer is a little above average.
Thanks guys, that helped alot, im not too fussed about the speakers for calling anyway. The ones on my current phone arent too good anyway, so i doubt the ones on this phone will be much worse
Thankyouuu
Speakers are good quality and loud.. plus I found a hack in this forum to make them louder.. so, it's all good
The speaker on the back of the phone is really good and has some little bass on it too. No distortion and clean sound.

I think its hardware related couse some peoples like me had it(phone went for replacement)while some others dont, so i dont think you can change it.

Anyone can change it. There is a file /system/etc/hwVolumeFactor.cfg which contains 2 values, 1 for the speaker and 1 for the headphones. Increasing the number 5-10 points will make it significantly louder, but I probably wouldn't go any higher than that.

I have tried this but the file is read-only. How can we change to writable?

Open CMD:
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblkp12 /system
exit
exit
adb pull /system/etc/hwVolumeFactor.cfg C:\
Edit the file with notepad then:
Code:
cd C:\
adb shell
cd /system/etc/
mv hwVolumeFactor.cfg hwVolumeFactor.bak
exit
exit
adb push hwVolumeFactor.cfg /system/etc/
mount -o remount,ro /dev/block/mmcblkp12 /system
reboot
That should do the trick . I think hehe .
Thanks but thats all Greek to me. I wouldn't know where to start. Is this input into a windows pc attached to the phone? Or is it linux? Never done anything like this before. Is there an easier way for the it challenged like me?

If you're on windows:
First enable debugging on your phone:
Go to Settings>Applications>Development and select debugging mode
Then:
I have written a quick batch file do do everything for you. Just run Volume.bat after you unpack the zip. If there are any errors in the window that pops up, please tell me. The script works fine for me. It will say "Press any key to continue" and when you press enter the phone will reboot. If you want to make it louder I can provide a new script to do so (I'm a batch noob so can't deal with inputs). Once the phone has rebooted there won be any 'visible' differences but the volume will go much louder.
can this make louder the speaker we use for calls? (i mean the front)
because the rear speaker it is very good for me but the front is very poor for me and i "try" to hear the others...
//obviously not a huge problem but i'm used at higher volume...

[Q] CM10.2 Low Headphone Volume

I'm running the latest CM10.2 Nightly of the MicroSD on my Nook Color. I'm really liking it over CM9(what I had before) but I've run into one major issue, Headphone Volume. I opened up DSP Manager and and cranked the equalizer up in the Speaker category and my speaker got nice and loud, but when I try to do the same for the headphones nothing works. Changing the Headset category's equalizer has zero effect on anything, and changing the other categories didn't help either. I can't apply any audio affects to the headphone jack. I found this thread on the CM forums, but couldn't find any of the mentioned files or directories. I suspect things have been changed and moved around in Android 4.3. The only volume boosting method I've found that works is by playing the video/audio file in MX Player and use it to boost the volume, but that only helps marginally and is zero help in any other app.
Is there any way I can get this to work?
There is a thread over at http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/73393-low-headphone-volume-using-nightlies/ about your issue.
I couldn't get mine to work because I did not find the file mentioned in the post.

I already linked to that thread in my post and said that it didn't contain any answers for CM10.2. All the files mentioned in it don't exist in the latest 10.2 nightlies.

I'm running 10.2.1 stable on nook color and have the same problem but it also affects my internal speaker too. Only thing I've found that works is Volume+ 2.0. I had same problem with CM7 and their original version was the only fix that worked on that as well.
I really don't understand why we're not given direct access to set the max volume settings since this is a problem for some users in EVERY version of android. I get why but it should be available in the hidden dev settings with a warning that you can blow your speakers/headset up if not careful.
Anyway...you can get VolumePlus v2.0 from their website free. androidaudiohacks.com (first post, can't post links) Its a beta version and I've seen some bugs but it works to fix low volume on my NC running CM10.2.1. I know his original vol+ is in the app store but I'm not sure about v2. You need v2 for jellybean.
Just so you're aware, sometimes the boost and or EQ switches don't stay in the on position but they still seem to be working fine. Also the speaker boost settings seem to work on both my speaker and headset. So if you just try setting the HS settings and nothing happens try the speaker settings. Hope this helps some.

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the info. I had known about Volume+ but ignored it in this case because last I checked they couldn't get it working past Android 4.1. I'll try it later. Thanks for the help.
