hi guys your forum is great cant stop reading. But i have an issue i recently bought an 4gb mini sd card for my phone the card works but is like it works when it feels like if i put it in and wait for a while or just randomly turn the phone off and on it will work i format it using my card reader through windows on fat32 and all the thing is it works but i should not have to be going through all of this for the sd card to work.
My next problem is i recently upgraded to SNN Edition Version 3.0 LITE and i have to say i love it but before my phone could detect my sd card and from i did i upgrade its not detecting my card at all to be on the safe side i took out the card before the upgrade and now its not detceting at all please can any one help me is there a patch i can use or something HELP!!
i think try to format via fat16 option. i had earlier 2gb kingston card sdmini after formatting it works welll
i was doing some reading and i was told that 2gb is the highest for formating with fat16 i have a 4gb card so this cant work for me a even look in properties and the only option is fat32.any body else as any more in puts.
4GB cards are almost exclusively multilayer, and cannot be read by the Wizard's card reader. You are basically limited to 2GB, and it should be formatted as FAT, not FAT32, as was already noted. If there's a 4GB model that's single layer, that's great, but I don't know about it. (...not saying I'm the definitive authority, either...)
which program can i use in windows to format the card in FAT and not FAT32 and as i said before the phone could read the card before i did the upgrade the only thing its takes a while for the phone too detect the SD card and thats in FAT32 format but i will try the FAT format.
from my experience you can't put ANY 4gb minisd card into the wizard and have it work correctly since it uses double buffering which the wizard doesn't support.
you have 2 options.. either buy a 2gb one.. or format only half of the card in FAT ...as myrddin said.. this might use only 1 buffer..
if that doesn't work, you can look for a program which blocks clusters and block half of the clusters on the card. that would certainly work but you won't be able to get 4gb out of that card ever again.
i'd go with the first option.. 2gb cards aren't that expensive nowadays.
well guys i bought the sd card for my phone and i research before buying it and it caused work so there must be a way for this to work even if i have to split it in 2 partitions but i am at work now so when i get home i will work on it (good thing i bought that card reader) lol but i will give you guys an update soon i plan to format the card in fat16 all 4gb if that dont work i am going to split the partition in 2 but i would love a single partition but what ever works.
I have a 2gb SD Card...
Hey guys... i have a 2gb kingston card (micro SD with adaptor to miniSD), but i have the exact same problem... my wizard just stopped reading the card! Sometimes it reads, but suddenly wizard stops, i have to make a soft reset and.... the card is gone... i formated it to fat32 and fat... and it still doesn't work... any idea? thanks

Correct-o-mundo.
Another common problem (related more to card readers than just to Wizards) is that the reader contacts (and even the card contacts) can become worn, dirty, or corroded. Try removing the card and battery, and get in there with a VERY bright light, a magnifying glass, and some cotton swabs dipped in isopropyl. Clean the metal contacts on both card and Wizard. Be careful not to soak the chip. Damp, not wet. Soak the chip and you WILL be buying a new one soon.
Let things dry COMPLETELY before trying anything, or you'll be sorry.
sd card is not vissible
hi all i have 1gb memory card it is not visible in all device i tried in a cam mobile and computer can any give me a idea to use
hey ya'll...
considering purchasing an 8gb memory card for my htc herald, have any of you tried this sucessfully??? the storage memory for the internal memory is not that great as you know and even things that you store in the memory card take up shortcut room in memory...what do you think?? are any of you running the phone on 4 GB memory stick? thanks ...
I have no problems running a cheap 8gb micro-sd from a no-name brand in my HTC P4350,
However, mine does feel a bit slower (yes its possible), since the upgrade from a 2gb card.
Ive been using a 8GB for about 6 months now and havent had ANYproblems with it. I actually had more problems with my old 1GB. It runs perfect!
i have the 8 gb card from amazon and i used it in my shadow and now my wing, its awesome, i keep all my phone supplies there and music, movies, vids, ebooks...keeps on going, lol its worth it, will be looking into the 16 gb soon just to be able to have an even bigger collection for on the go
I've got an 8gig Sandisk SDHC in my wing. No worries at all.
I've got an 8gig Sandisk SDHC in my HTC P4350. And it work´s nice with movies and music.
i've been using a 8gb card from kingston, don't pack it too full or else your phone will lag, i use it for mostly music and i find that when i fill it up all the way it gets a little corrupted
looking @ buy.com for the 16gb cards, 40 bucks...just needs to drop a little moer....
i got a sandisk 8gb loaded with movies, mp3s, ebooks basically everything and it runs smooth
yep..8gb is fine. slower than my 4gb, but not too bad

now using 16gb, no lag. works great
ok..sorry for disturbing the hype, but I need to post this:
I upgraded from 1 to 2 GB and now to 8gb..since then I encoutered issues:
First I copy and pasted everything from my 2gb card onto my 8gb SDHC class 2 card and everything run smoothly..but after some days I realised that all my pivtures I took were gone..than I saw that all folder were weired named--re-named...BUT it changed again and besides that the pixx were gone, all run ok again..
but now..since Yesterday..it is the same..folders re-named..pixx gone and my display says please insert storage-card, but it is included AND I can see the content via file explorer or active sync...its the same with the 2gb card..displays shows the "please insert screen" but I can access via onboard file explorer (fyi all folders are ok..not renamed on the 2gb card)
My idea is, that my simply copy and paste from 2gb to 8gb card was not the proper way to do it..or??
Can someone suggest how to manage this? I have no card reader and I havent found a way to format the 8gb card..to do the copy paste or whatever again..
Any ideas are appreciated!
I have 8, 8gb cards filled and use everyone of them and no problem at all
Did you try right-clicking on the storage card and re-formating it to deault thats what i had to do when i had that problem and havent had a problem since if that doesnt work then you will need to find a cheap usb card reader online....... and if that doesnt help let me know and i might have another solution to help you re-format it
hey phaze, right click within active sync does not allow "format" ..so i tought as well of the card reader thing..or where could I be able to use right click-format option?
do sdhc is correct to use for htc 4350? I hear dform mycard supplier that only sd is usable? so is that my mistake?
Just received a 32Gb sd card and copied over all my files and cabs etc.
But when trying to reinstall the .cabs to my storage card and keep getting this message "installation of .cab was unsuccessful" ?????
has anyone got any ideas? I have had to go back to my sd card?
didn't think there was any decent 32gig cards available yet, did you format the card in your phone first?
The correct procedure (which I did only last evening with my new Sandisk 32GB mSD, it will take approx. 2hrs. depending on capacity and content of old mSD - mine had full 15,5GB):
1. Put back old SD-card
2. Switch HD 2 into flight mode (!!!!)
3. Connect to PC in HARDDISK Mode (not ActiveSync)
4. Open mSD card on PC and make ALL files accessible (also system-files etc.)
5. Copy entire content of old mSD to a fgolder on the PC
6. Disconnect HD2 from PC
7. Switch HD2 off and place new 32GB mSD into HD2
8. Switch HD2 ON
9. Check if mSD is recognized and shows right capacity (29-31 GB depending)
(EDIT: 10. Format mSD with format-prog in Settings-menu. HD2 STILL IN FLIGHT MODE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (EDIT!!!: MAYBE BY FORMATTING YOU COULD GOOF THE CARD, SO BEST IS TO USE IT AS IT IS RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX !!!! AND TRY TO FORMAT IT ONLY IN CASE IT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY OUT OF THE BOX !!!!!!!!!)
11. Connect HD2 again in Harddisk-Mode to PC
12. Copy all files from backup-folder of PC to the new mSD
13. Disconnect HD2 from PC
14. Switch HD2 OFF
15. Restart and enjoy Your new richdom of mem-space
DO NOT ACTIVATE ANY RADIO (GSM, 3G, HSDPA, WIFI DURING ENTIRE PROCEDURE !!!!!!! It might brick Your new expensive mSD-card cause WM once in while writes to it creating funny disorders on the new card.)
After restarting with new mSD there might be a "services.exe"-error. Switch off again and switch on again. No error-message any more.
I strongly recommend to invest 24 bucks for pocket mechanic or SKTools (I prefer PM but have both running). It helps You to optimize Your entire HD2 and evaporate all crap accumulated when playing around with install and del of mods and apps. Makes WM pretty stable and snappy
troed thank you, but i am still having problems????
i have a games folder with cabs in and when i copy them over they dont even show and a few other folders have become like encryted??? cant open them or delete them ??? maybe the card is faulty????
Most problems with uSD cards seem to be caused by low capacity fakes being sold as high capacity branded cards.
I'd suggest checking it with h2testw - or alternatively if your new 32GB uSD card isn't a sandisk card bought from a reputable retailer for a lot of money, you don't need to test it to know that it's fake.

Well, andyfoster could be right .....
I always buy my SD and mSD cards (only Sandisk) either at amazon, expansys or mobilefun and never ever had a single problem with them (e.g. I also run 32GB SD and MemStick in my Vaio).
Once I bought a Pretec 128GB SSD Express Card for the Vaio, filled it with read only files ...... worked ........... but when I wanted to check the content the SSD was dead/bricked.
What else could it be theoretically ?
Once I bought a Kingston DataTraveler-USB-Stick 64 GB and wanted to fill it with vid-files. In copy process it got stuck so I formatted it and now I have only 32GB available.
Why ?
As delivered the 64GBstick was formatted FAT 32, allowing only files less than 4GB saved onto it. This my fault then. One vid-files was 6 GB and gave an error. But when I destroyed the original format from Kingston with my formatting I lost half of the capacity with no workaround left.
What do I wann say with this ?
I don´t know if THAT could be the case, but MAYBE these high cap-SDs do have a special "Factory-format" that should not be changed ! When I received my 32GB mSD IT WORKED PERFECT OUT OF THE BOX ! I did no format. But, honestly, since it is a lill bit expensive I don´t wanna experiment with formatting it now.
But MAYBE it is a fake-card ..................
Yes, the first thing to know is how much you paid for the card and what brand it is... we've seen "ORIGINAL KINGSTON 32GB MICROSD CARD NO FAKE!!!1!ONE" on ebay, when Kingston never manufactured a single 32GB card yet...
This is a sandisk by the way, (well it says sandisk on it ) and its funny you mentioned the format? it is formated wth the name fat32 hhmmmm and i am trying to put 13gb of stuff on it???, I have reformatted it again last night it took hours?? I might try again and if not i will just have to have a replacement?
after trying again, i notice this error regarding certain file names are to long??? and also if i create a folder and name it vids or movies it automaticly puts folders in side which cannot be opened or deleted? and the folders name will be ".?:-~~{"
its got to be the card right?
I have returned the card and asked for a replacement?

what follows is unrelated to the main topic in this thread...
about the bold part in your post above...i thought i should tell you that there IS a workaround!
fact is that FAT32 is a file system in which a single file cannot be larger than 4GB. you should have gotten an error from explorer BEFORE even a single byte of the 6GB file was written.
more importantly, you should know that FAT32 fully supports very large partitions like 100GB, etc (at the cost of slower performance and/or wastage due to large cluster size at that capacity). what most people conclude is that it SEEMS like you can only create up to 32GB FAT32 partitions "at home" while larger sized FAT32 partitions can only be "created in a factory format". this misconception is entirely because the disk management in windows 2000, XP, Vista, and 7 enforce this limit when formatting!
google it and you will see that it is just an arbitrary limit by microsoft and these same operating systems have NO PROBLEMS reading/writing FAT32 partitions greater than 32GB. once again, it is JUST an arbitrary limitation of the default formatting routines shipped with windows. there is a great little tool (i forget the name of the program but its executable is called "guiformat.exe") that will allow you to format FAT32 greater than 32GB.
all of the above got me thinking about something though...it seems that manufacturers have chosen FAT32 as the de facto standard for most mobile devices with removable card storage (like smartphones, digital cameras, mp3 players, etc), likely because of FAT32's lack of complexities like security and the standard's relative "openness" compared to that of NTFS, for example. makes me wonder about the nice surprise people will start to have once greater than 32GB cards become available and when people will attempt to format them with windows, expecting everything to go smoothly...but oh the horror when windows won't let them format greater than 32GB. good times ahead!
Hello All
I bought a 128gb micro sd card for my z3 compact only to find out that i will need to format the card to fat32, which seems to be impossible now, i cant even format mat it to anything now let alone to fat32.
I have tried as many way to do this as possible but i keep getting errors of "format didnt complete" or some variation of that.
I have tried using cmd prompt, GUIFORMAT, windows disk managment and multiple youtuve videos.
I have read that the phone can take this type of card if you can format it to fat32. If someone has achieved this or has any advice, it would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks
Get a refund as soon as possible. You almost definitely received either a dud or a counterfeit. If you do end up being able to format it (any file system will do) run this:
https://www.raymond.cc/blog/download/did/77/
If that reports it's stable, try formatting it as NTFS in Windows. FAT32 can't handle files larger than 4gb, and exFAT isn't compatible with Android, iirc.
you sir are a great man.
i think the card is messed up, i cant even open it in windows, acting if its not even there. Even in the properties i get no deteials, everything is 0. Putting it in my phone even says sd card is damaged.
I keep reading people have these cards in tehir phones and tablets. Are you aware of a way to do this?
im sending this card back and getting either a smaller one or research into how others have managed to do it.
If it is a sdxc card, u tried to Format it via phone? Never had problems with my 64gb card
I have 128GB card too. Just put it in the phone and let it determine the type it wants. After insert the card, open setting - storage - erase SD Card. Then the 128GB should become exFat.

Currently it is listed as being formatted as texfat.

I'm not sure what you're asking here exactly, but when a card works *properly* you can just insert into basically any device and it'll format it in a few different ways, not unlike a usb flash drive.
I've had your exact problem before, though. I bought a 128gb sd card from a seller with a really high rating on Ebay, but it was for $55 and I should've known better. It was almost definately a 32GB or 64GB disk that had been re-partitioned to look like a higher capacity drive. The 'new' disk would destroy any data copied over to it after a certain limit was reached, a limit that got smaller and smaller the longer I held on to it. I'd format it, start copying, the copy would fail, the disk would eject itself, Windows wouldn't recognize it until formatting it, rinse repeat forever. I wasn't even trying to fill it to the brim, 'just' my 55ish GB music collection. I ended up actually finding one for $80 on Amazon, which ended up working flawlessly.
If you don't mind my asking, where did you buy it from? How much did you pay? What was the seller's ranking and review history like?

I have had similar experiences myself with micro sd cards from eBay. It seems to be inconsistent regarding particular sellers and the quality of the cards. I would imagine there are sellers also getting scammed by wholesalers claiming to have legitimate cards.
Needless to say, I only buy micro sd cards now from sellers that are
A) in my home country, where I know they are bound by local law regarding faulty goods
B) selling brand name micro sd cards in their original packaging.
I might not save as much money by playing it safe, but it's worth it to be able to rely on a product and have a local warranty to back it up.

I've had problems with Busybox installed on phone and it corrupting SD cards somehow, "Busybox on rails" was the fix for me, also it seemed to fix the damaged??? SD card after a reformat.
I also experienced similar problems with my 64gb card. It worked flawless in my Phone for some months, but when i put it in a defective card reader and connected it to my NAS, the card seemed dead. My Phone said the card was corrupted and it wasn't able to format it. My Windows PC didn't recognize it at all. Also "sd formatter" which never failed in the past, couldn't get the card back to life.
So I checked the card with fdisk under linux and I could see, that the partition table was totally messed up. I deleted the partition table and after that the card was working again.
No problems in the last 2 months. And since I have a fully automated daily backup to my local NAS, there is no need to exchange the card "just in case".

My Yoga Book always says that my SD card is missing and I need to reinstall it. I install it as part of the internal storage, this might be the issue. I have gone through three different brands, Samsung microsd card does not work at all for me. Simply will not read, says it is incompatible. The other two work for about a couple hours but then I will reboot and sudenly it will not read and say it is not inserted, when it is. So frustrating. Also when the microsd card is unreadable, I have the second issue of the Book not coming back on after it sleeps or when the screen times out. To get the screen to come back on I have to take out the microsd card and the screen will come right on, but than says " the is no sd card, please insert." Any one else having this issue? I really want to like this little machine but it seems REALLY underbaked.
I have an idea of what is happening with my cards. I have a very good Samsung microsd but the machine first said "This card is too slow" !!! I set up the microsd card as "internal" storage not media storage. Well, the Book formats the card, uses it but on reboot it looses the card and says the card is either "not in" or, the card is "not compatible". So I try to reformat but the Book will not format it and neither will my PC or any other device. I keep getting that the micro sd card is now "write protected" or "cannot format raw data", so now I have two expensive micro sd cards that are completely useless and I am very very upset. I have one other card I can try to use in the Book and format it as "media" instead of "internal" but Im afraid it might raw format it too and Im stuck. AAARRGGHH. Any ideas on how to re-format these micro sd cards?
Hi! Any update regarding the issue? Would be really glad to know if you have resolved it as I am currently experiencing something similar with my Yoga Book (Windows). I have a 128GB microsd and sometimes it suddenly stops recognising it. I've never had the too slow error though. My card was formatted using NTFS.
Wondering whether the card tray design is bad, and if the card gets displaced when moving around. I'll try another card, and will update this post later.
Android must be formatted to fat32, although the best way is to format it in a Android device like your phone if needed. Not sure about your other issues. Is there an update from Lenovo maybe. My card reader is just fine. #knockonwood

Sadly I ended up buying a new microsd card. My two cards that I started with are still un accessible and useless. I format it to Fat32 and inserted into the YogaBook and designated the card as media. It's been working great ever since. Still annoyed that I am out $100 worth of micro SD cards
Good luck to you. I have the Android version.

Hi! (In my case) I think it was due to the "thickness" or dimensions of the microSD. I had one that was slightly thicker than the original card I was using for the Yoga Book. I swapped them, and haven't had any problem since then. Sorry to hear that you had to shell out another $100. That really sucks. Mine was sheer luck. (Thanks to the added "chunk.")
Hope this bit of info will be useful for other YB owners.
Unfortunately I can confirm that ;/
In my case I observed the same...
I have a model with windows. It's EXTREMELY slow! Generally, no just the SD card. Almost impossible to work on it. Lenovo sucks!
According to the SC slot I've tried many different SD cards and always the same... Time of copying 2GB file, calculated by windows, about 672 hours... Only...
This is my second computer from Lenovo, and the last one.
If you're migrating files, try doing small amounts and copy not cut and paste. Otherwise just take the card out and do it on a more robust pc.

I'm using an SD card and it seems to be running fine. Are you using it for something that needs regular access to your SD card? Like, installing Windows or a program on it? Because that will make transferring to and from the SD card very slow, or at least a lot slower than what it would usually be. The technology in the Yoga Book's SD card slot is old, so it can't handle stressful situations.
Hi, Thanks for your answers,
My main HD has 64GB, its not a lot of, so I thought about changing location of My Documents and all my files on the SD card. But after setting of paths to SD the computer froze due to it couldn't read SD fast enough.
So, I decided to move my personal folders back and tried to move files manually.
But the situation is the same :/
Don't you think that transferring of files on the another computer to SD card has no sens??
It is needed for me to move files from YB to another computer, so while I can't do it than the SD slot and whole Yoga Book is totally useless for me.
Do you think, guys, that it is possible to install Android on it?? There is a possibility to boot from the external USB-CD or just USB, but I couldn't find the Android version for YB.
Maybe with Android it will work??
Did someone of you tried to do it??
Thanks

I did delete Windows 10 and try install Android, however, I was not successful in getting it usable. So right now, Android is a no-go for those who have the Windows 10 version (although, you can install emulators that allow you to run Android apps). I usually try to minimise how many things I have on my Yoga Book - keeping apps to a minimum, and I've got my Downloads and Documents on my SD card and it's fine. Maybe your SD card is an old one?
Believe me, I've tried all possibilities, which came to my head
I bought three different SD cards (actually I have SanDisk Extreme microSDXC UHS-II, 128GB, formated in exFat) and nothing.
I tried also to run linux, and I noticed a small difference in relation to Win10, that in linux the copying process is pending all the time, while Win10 is breaking the process every time and ordering me remove the write protection.
Hi guys,
I found a solution!!!
I don't know why, but I created two 64GB partitions (almost, just 50% and 50%) on the card and formatted as a fat32 and.... Suddenly it works!
Thanks for your attention!
Has anyone tried the 200GB or 265GB micro SD cards yet? google search seems indicate that it might work but not able to get any concrete proof.

Yes, I use a Samsung 256GB micro SD card fine in my YB. Insert it and format it using the YB and it'll format it as FAT32. Only problem with that is I need to convert/compress my larger than 4GB movie files to something smaller.
thanks to PPC_Ed's confirmation, I ordered a 200GB drive and was able to get it working on my Yoga Book Android.

I bought a cheap 512GB sd card on eBay for less than $12 from China. I have stored tons of stuff on it. Downloaded a 1080p movie onto it using the adapter on my laptop and the lap top wanted to fix issues. It did, and everything still is fine. It actually might not be 512gb, but I have more than 200gb on it and it works fine - no speed issues at all. Android still reports 512gb total capacity (499 gb). I couldn't be happier with the $12 spent.
