Have any of you noticed that the number of contacts on the phone and sim in 'people' changes on a regular basis? I had 197 on my Sim and 196 on phone last night, turned phone on this morning and there are now 45 on the Sim. The 'only show contacts from phone or sim' doesn't work, It still shows 'all' duplicated.
I know there's no point whatsoever in calling Orange or HTC as they'll give the usual answers I've had from them about everything to do with this phone.
"Hmmmmmmmm, dunno."
So, anyone here have a clue why this happens?

I normally have my Mini S on suspend when it's in the pouch. I have for some reason been unable to recieve messages. The last SMS I got was from O2 when I turned the phone on the 1st time. Can anyone help me out on this? I don't really need MMS...just SMS.
Not receiving? or not getting the notification?
If its not receiving, how long has it been? networks sometimes get screwed up and hold messages in the server for ages. having said that "since i first turned the phone on" sounds like longer than 24 hrs.
Put the sim in another phone (if poss) - does it work?
I cant think of any real settings for SMS, they just arrive! If the SMS works in another phone follow it up here and hopefully someone will eb able to help. if it doesn't work in another phone, its a network issue - call O2.
If its the notifications you are missing, let us know - thats much easier!
I will give it a go in another phone but it's been a week since I turned the phone on. I'm not totally sure what you're referring to as notifications but I just don't see any messages when I go to the Text Messages folder in POE.
Ok...here's what I did, I stuck my sim into my friend's mobile and no backlog of SMSes arrived. I put the sim back in mine and then had him send me a message. Thing is the device was not suspended and I recieved the message immediately. I have my device normally in the suspend state. Could that be the problem?
I have my wizard in suspend (time out, press top button once etc) and have no problems picking up messages, they wake the device.
Notifications = the beep or sound for a text, wakes the device and puts the left softkey to show you have a SMS - it gives a preview there.
You say when you swapped out your sim you didn't get a backlog of messages so there isn't a load on the server waiting for you.
Last possible idea from me atm, you're not in the e-mail or MMS inbox are you? just checking
Well, I have checked the notifications and no, they're set as they should be and I do check the Text Messages folder. I have yet to setup email anyway :?
I wonder...if it's a network problem...damnable.
it sounds to me that its a phone issue not network. i'm on 02 and have now problem when my mini s is in stanby mode. it just switches on and beeps and a notification window appears.
cheers
Ok, now after subscribing to SMS.ac (just to send 1 single message and then terminate it) I got a total of 4 messages -1 confirmation for joining, 1 confirmation of joing, 1 test message, 1 cancellation message.
I cancelled when I noted that it was .5 / message . I'm puzzled. Maybe there was indeed a problem with the sim?

im having problems with my notifications of SMS, i recieve them fine but get no notification at all, i chack the sound settings and its all set up the same as standard but i get nothing any help??
I seem to be experiencing issues that sometimes people call me and the call goes direct to voicemail without even ringing. I get no missed call alert and dont know that someone has called unless they leave a message. I have tested this by calling my handset from my office phone with the HD2 in my other hand showing full network coverage... call goes direct to voicemail. 5 mintues later all worked fine. This seems to be totally random however it seems to be getting worse to the extent that no-one could call me all afternoon today. I know that i missed at least 7 calls and possibly more. All the settings are correct for call diverts etc.
Also the new 1.66 Rom seems to have made my phone worse but most people seem to be saying that theres is quicker.
Other details?
Who's your carrier, were the calls from within your carrier's network or outside, etc.?
Carrier is o2 uk
CARRIER IS O2 UK. THE CALLS THAT GET DIVERTED STRAIGHT TO VOICEMAIL ARE RANDOM.some within the network others are not. it seems to have no relevance. o2 advise me to test using another phone to see if the sim card is faulty. does anyone else have this issue?
I noticed it this morning at a real bad time. Was waiting for an important call back for an IT problem, and thankfully he left voice mail with a call back.
While the HD2 does many non-phone things, foremost it needs to work perfectly as a phone!
(i'm on t-mobile usa)
Working fine for a few days, but who knows how often it happened & the person didn't leave voice mail!
Me too!
yep! I have had this for the first two months of getting the phone except mine says "do you want to send a text" instead of going to voicemail..... I "discussed" with T Mobile UK several times and they eventually did a full account refresh which seemed to solve "most" of it. I don't get people telling me they called me and couldn't get through any more although I have dialled my HD2 from my landline and it's still random. T Mobile gave me money back on line rental though..... that's something I suppose.
Hopefully some of us can find a solution.... or am I right in thinking we should be able to send it back!?
A few days ago, my battery went flat and my phone shut down and when I turned it on, there was No Service shown. Tried my sim-card on another phone but there is also no service. I left it like that overnight and in the morning, "Home Service" appeared. I can make calls and receive calls but cannot send text messages, the "phone is not ready please wait 15 second" error appears. Its been like that for a few days and yesterday my battery went flat again and now when I on it, its back to No Service. Before this happened I could do everything fine.. seems like a SIM-card problem but it was always in the phone, I never touched it.
Things I've tried:
-Restarting phone
-Trying SIM card on another phone
-Turning "Phone Settings" off and on in Connection Manager
-Re-configuring network and country (in my case Singapore and Starhub)
Help..
If its your network problem, we cant help you.
My friends are fine on the same network, does that mean it is most likely a sim-card problem?
Confirm it.
Okay.... so I am having this weird problem with my G2. Starting 2 days ago, I am no longer able to make/receive calls or txt messages on my phone. I have 4 bars showing for signal status and data is connected. I am able to access the internet and download from the market, but if I attempt to make a phone call, nothing happens. The only way I get notified that someone attempted to call me is if they leave a voicemail and I get notified by Google Voice.
I have tried flashing a different radio as well as completely wiping the device and reinstalling the Virtuous ROM (as well as tried the new OTA rooted ROM here on XDA) but still cannot get calls/txts to work.
Anybody have any ideas as to what could be causing this?
Maybe a bad SIM? Not sure if that would cause no voice/SMS but still have data. But it wouldn't hurt to go to a T-Mob store and ask for a new SIM, as I think they usually will give you one for free.
Funny you should mention that. I completely wiped the device one last time and then reinstalled the Virtuous 2.0 ROM. Again I had data but no voice/SMS. After a reboot my status bar indicated that the SIM was not valid. I turned the phone off, removed the battery and SIM card and cleaned all the dust out. I then put the SIM card and battery back in and was able to get my voice/SMS connection.
I think I might still try to get a new SIM card just in case. Maybe the dust wasn't the issue and I just happened to get lucky after removing then reinserting the SIM.
I've got some serious issues with my Nexus 4, I've found posts with similar problems but not exactly what I have. I'm at a loss what to do next so any advice would be much appreciated.
I bought a N4 around March this year, direct from Google, and connected it to TPG Mobile here in Australia which uses the Optus network.
It was fine until about the end of May or beginning of June where it started losing signal regularly. First thing I noticed is it would start dropping calls and displaying "No network available", the triangular status bar at the top would go blank (completely black, not grey) for about 30 seconds, then it would return to normal signal and I could make calls again. However it would do this every few minutes, whether I was on a call or not, and each time it would last roughly 30 seconds and then return to normal.
Around the same time I started to receive SMS on either a delay, or they'd arrive on-time, but then keep sending multiple times for about the next hour.
I rang Google, they got me to go through recovery mode, then it worked fine, for about 24 hours, before it started again. They sent me a new device, which did the same thing within hours of activation, so I requested a 3rd device. At the same time I thought it might be the sim card, so I got a new one of those too.
My 3rd device and new sim card worked perfectly for about 3 days then the same problem started. Factory resets etc seem to fix the problem for either minutes or hours, but never permanently.
Then last week I noticed further weird symptoms, I started getting the usual sms to say someone had called and left a voicemail, however my phone never showed any sign of a call (visual, audio or missed call in the call log). I confirmed with several people who tried calling me and they confirmed the phone rang on their end before going to VM. I tried it myself from a landline and it randomly rings or doesn't ring on my end, however I also noticed when I hung up on the landline without answering my Nexus 4, it continued to ring indefinitely, ie. it hadn't registered the caller hung up.
My provider assures me there isn't an issue in my area, my wife uses the same provider (with an iphone) and has not had these issues. I can't swap sim cards with her though as she has a full-size sim. I tried another sim with my phone for a few hours and it worked fine, however my phone with my sim will sometimes go a whole day without issues so it wasn't long enough to truly test it.
I've deleted all apps that might somehow affect it and the hasn't helped either.
Basically I'd like to know is this likely to be a phone issue, and I pursue the issue with Google, or some sort of network/sim issue and I pursue it with my provider?
