Hi guys,
I know there was a bug in <1.40 ROMs which HTC made a hotfix for, but that hotfix can be used only with <1.40 ROM. I am currently running TESS 2.2 (based 1.75) and still experiencing the same annoying bug like with the official ROM - no sound for the first message after soft-reset! I don't get it (why the hell just the first one?) and have not been successful with finding a solution. But I am quite sure it is not a bug of TESS ROM, thus i'd like to ask you if you ever experienced something similar?
At first I thought G-Profile was the problem, but after uninstalling the bug remains. Sadly I am not aware of any other app which could be causing this bug.
When the first message after booting the system arrives, sometimes LED starts to flash, sometimes it does not, but no sound whatsoever.
PS: Yes, I've set suspend time with Advanced Config to higher than default. Any advice muchly appreciated.
Hi
I have found power management issues on the TESS ROM and when I flagged this up I was flamed for daring to suggest the ROM was the problem. The issue is various tweaks get applied by cooks who think they know better than HTC without them really knowing why such an option came disabled or enabled or set to a particular value originally.
The next best thing is to use the WWE Australian ROM that contains the latest base ROM which is probably where it came from in latest version of the TESS ROM. This has been bug free for me.
Regards
Phil
So after all it might be TESS bug, right? Which version of TESS were you using when experienced those power management issues?
Hi
It was an earlier version, I don't remember which one.
Why not try the Australian one and see if the bug is present for you, you'll know for sure then.
Regards
Phil
Just because I don't feel like installing all the apps and stuff again

Hi there,
I am using the EnergyROM "Genesis" (23016) and am having the similar issue as you. All the Emails, Callings, Events are working very well, except the SMS notification --- no sound , no vibration, only the LED indication when the Text messages are received.
I edit the Registry by walking up the phone when receiving the SMS but just can have the phone walks up and the LED indication but still no sound or vibration.
Did you install the Official HTC HotFix on your phone and what happens after that ???
No i did not as it is to be used only with <1.40 roms

With my stock rogers rom, as well as myHero ROM's, my sms messages have a timestamp dated a few hours before when they should. I've noticed that I'm not the only one with this problem. A search of the forums doesn't really show anything recent.
I noticed that one of the other ROM's (cyanogen possibly) had this issue corrected. Is there a solution to the SMS timestamp issue? Would I be able to download an updated sms messaging apk and push it to my phone to overwrite the buggy one?
I am relying on chomp sms for now, but that is a workaround, and not really a solution to the timestamp problem.
Andy
I dont have issue with stock rom.. just when i use hero rom/sense UI.. the sense ui one is 4 hours behind.. if you have the problem with stock rogers then you must be west of EST and they had a fix for that one. As far as hero roms no fix yet just work arounds such as chomp or changing your timezone setting to +0 GMT but i hear that screws up calender a bit..
HTC/Rogers posted a ROM update back in the summer:
http://www.htc.com/ca/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=270&act=sd&cat=all
It wipes your phone, but it does resolve the SMS timestamp issue. I'm currently using the HoFo ROM though, and the fix isn't incorporated with it.
if your using an aftermarket rom like MyHero etc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572175
this should fix it for you
There is an app in the market called SMSfixtimes. I used to use it and it worked quite well, but it doesn't seem to work with the current MyHero rom I am using. Worked well on the stock rogers one though.
SMSFixtTimes works with HoFO rom.

Is there an update that works with the ROM from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZh2y_cpGpw ? I hate having to use the time zone hack, and SMSFixTimes isn't working for whatever reason...

Try killing the "Messages" (and any other SMS) app with TasKiller. Then configure SMSTimeFix.
Then test it.
Also are you running HoFo Sense ROM? Because that video is WAYYYYYY OLD.
i dont know what is up, but i love this rom. only issue so far that i am having is that when i go to message settings it force closes everytime. i was trying to set my notification tone. it plays the one i have in setting in the phone and the text message one. sound funny.
There may be a more elegant fix BUT if you just want it to start working why don't you do a Nandroid restore to your last working setup and then reflash .6? i only offer this advise because nobody else seems to be having any issues with text on .6 including me.

I'm not sure what you mean by "with optimization". But I can't duplicate your issue.
its the zip on i think the first page that optimizes apps. it really inproves the speed. dont know if it did it before.. may do a restore just dont want to have to set my stuff up agian. lol
ok it wasnt doing it after a fresh install so and then all of a sudden it did. im going to try the newer version of the optimization.. really confused now. its either that or the green theme im using.
The optimizations do not effect the text messages, in fact, they do not effect anything, all there is to them is optimized images and zip alignment for faster file access. I am running Fresh 0.6 with my optimizations and experiencing none of those issues
I have the same setup (Fresh Rom w/ Optimzation).
My text problem is a little different though.
I use handcent SMS, and I received a text message today that previewed in the quick reply box, which I closed. Then, when I went to the handcent application, that text message is missing.
Is anyone else experiencing missing incoming text messages w/ Handcent?
ok well im having a issue with phone not vibrating as well and went back to stock so i will have to see. it may be a app i have added, but i have like a 100 so i dont know which one yet.
i'm running Fresh 0.6 and the optimizations from 11/24 and i'm sorry to say gents that I'm not having either of those problems.
everything is running smooth on my end (went from MoDaCo to Fresh 0.2 to Fresh 0.4 and now Fresh 0.6)... only problem I ever had was the wifitether stopped working on 0.2, but has since been fixed.
might be worth reflashing fresh..
I am not sure if anyone mentioned as yet but official htc site has the following hotfix available
"This update for HTC HD2 messaging lets you reach out to your friends and family with instant notifications. Keeping in touch has always been very important, and this update delivers just that: fast and reliable SMS messaging. "
Note: This update is only applicable to ROM version is equal to 1.49.XXX.X, or lower.
Does not solve anything. Still have the same problem on SMS.
Ive not noticed any problems at all, what is it supposed to fix?, And whar does it not fix lol.
i dont have any problems with my hd2 either but i still applied it.
I've applied it and my phone is sending/receiving SMS perfectly, just as it always has. It's a bit sad but I love installing updates.
I haven't had any problems with SMS either.
But maybe it's because my ROM (1.43) is not among those with issues.
oops... I just realized it says for 1.49.XXX and lower!
gotta obey and apply the fix then

You are one sick puppy!
I know what you mean though; was on the miri HD ROM update train for months, upgrading every week or two until I got the HD2. I have had no problems with it whatsoever, but I still can't wait until they get USPL/HSPL sorted so that I can start flashing again...

Ok, so I installed the HTC Messaging fix, not sure if that did this or whether it did it before, but here goes...
I know this may be discussed else where, but this is progress on the issue at least and hopefully this might spark a few ideas rather than people just advising "it doesn't work, HTC sux"
** I think this does fix the lag, in a round about way **
Ok, bare with me on this...
I installed the update and it fixed nothing for me, I'm mainly having issues with the lag on messaging.
I noticed in Task Manager (installed Dutty's) that the Messaging app is called "Start" which is when I load messages from HTC Sense UI. Loading this way, still got the lag.
If I disable HTC Sense UI and load messages, its instant. Yes the messages still load down the side but I can now tap and create a new message while this is loading. SPOT ON, FIXED!
Ok, now in Task Manager I notice this is called "HTC Messaging", not "Start", so I'm thinking, cool, its reset the messaging app and sorted it out. So I enable HTC Sense UI again and back to same problem, this loads "Start".
So.... I first installed the hotfix with Sense UI enabled, which didn't resolve the problem unless Sense UI wasn't on.
I've tried installing again with Sense UI disabled, but I have the same issue.
So yes, the problem is fixed in a way, but it is Sense UI that seems to be loading this "Start" messaging app.
Can someone else try this to confirm? Or can some really clever person fix what I've started...?
Edit -- It happens all the time now, I disable HTC Sense UI and the Messaging program changes its name when loaded. WTF? Come on guys, let me know if you have the same issues.
Wow. 51 views and not 1 person has posted back to say whether turning their HTC Sense UI off has resolved this problem.
Come on!!!
It did...
It does solve the problem... Plus it makes a full charge last aprox. 40% longer, oh yeah and also generally speeds up everything on the phone.
I've written this to HTC but who knows if they listen. It has also been posted a couple of times in this forum.

New SMS Function Update: http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=0&dl_id=812
Has anyone installed this and seen any drastic improvements? I believe the last SMS update they released did absolutely no good. Is this something you should install even if you have ROM versions 1.66.XXX.X?
Sure would be nice to have them fix these issues from locking up during heavy sms usage once and for all.

Usually they say a ROM version number as the one listed has the fix built in.
Here is the link for all the latest HTC updates for the HD2 and this New- SMS update is out after the latest ROM update? That doesn't make sense? They have screwed up the SMS'ing of this phone from the very beginning. That being said, if they could ever fix it, I wouldn't want anything else.
2 questions in one....
will this new update work with my xannytech 2.3 evolution??
Update for HTC HD2 – New SMS Function Update
This update for HTC HD2 amends the internal management of SMS functionality, and enhances SMS transmission stability, and lets you reach out to your friends and family with instant notifications. Keeping in touch has always been very important, and this update delivers just that: fast and reliable SMS messaging.
i ask this because, we all know that the reception or signal on the hd2 is not the best. But , when i send a text and there is no signal i would like the phone to Try and send the text as soon as a signal is recieved on its own. Find it very annoying having to wait or look for a signal (normally putting phone down) to then quickly resend the message before the signal is lost. Im sure every other phone iv had waits till a receotion then sends. Is there a setting iv missed? Or maybe the hd2 actually does this but hours later?
hope you get where im comming from
thanx for any help....

the htc support site says for roms below 1.66.xxx, that means to me that 1.66.xxx+ roms have this built in already
if your on a custom rom, you'll have to double check what build its based on
