Is my memory stick dead? - G1 General

Ummm okay, well I was using an oreo theme and CM and then I updated to the latest CM mod and my memory stick still worked then I updated my oreo theme to the latest and then my g1 wouldn't reconigze my 8gb micro sdhc class 6, so I took it out and back in and nothing, I know I have swap enabled but I've only been using it for 2 months.

Okay well I updated to the latest CM just as it came out and when I try to recover my applications from my back up it tells me that there isn't enough room to install anymore apps, I though I could install them off of my sd card. I've been looking around for hours and I"m not sure what to do.

None of my widgets work either and some of my apps are having trouble connecting to the internet.
Oh and sorry about the triple posting firefox wouldn't load up the editing box before this.

I would just copy whatever you need over to your pc then reformat and repartition your sd. Do a wipe then Flash the newest cyanmod and after then flash the theme you want.

That seemed to work, although I'm scared to reinstall that theme.

[RETIRED] CyanogenMod 6.1 Beta4 & ClockworkMod Recovery (Updated 2010.12.11)

I have updated ClockworkMod Recovery for the G Tablet to support the internal SD card a bit better.
There is now an advanced option to partition the internal SD card. This can come in handy when the internal partitions get hosed (which seems to happen on occasion with this device). To keep it close to stock you can select a 2048MB Data Partition and the remaining ~13GB will go to the internal SD card. You also have an option to format the internal SD card space as well as mount it as /emmc. You can still format the external SD card using the existing advanced option.
This recovery still uses the external SD card as its primary mount for actions (install ROM, backup, restore, etc.). However, the recovery is configured to “fall back” to the internal SD card for these actions if (and only if) there is no external SD card available to be mounted.
As always, credit to Koush for creating ClockworkMod Recovery in the first place.
----------------------
This is the current BETA release of the CyanogenMod 6.1 port for the G Tablet. There are still several issues, but it is far enough along that I use it as my daily system. Please review issues and post new ones as needed at the Issues page linked below. Feel free to leave feedback in the forum, but I may not be able to follow up on it. The best option is to catch me in #tegratab on Freenode IRC.

ClockworkMod Recovery
My site: bekit.net post
gapps does work, but I probably should not release that here. Just make sure it is the MDPI variety and has an update-binary compatible with tegra.
*Note:
This version now matches the standards for SD card mounting on devices with both internal and external SD card space. This means that the external SD card slot now mounts to /mnt/sdcard (symlink /sdcard) and the internal space mounts to /mnt/emmc (symlink /emmc). The device properly recognizes the internal vs. external space and allows proper unmounting and handling of the external SD card. This also means that some apps (if they were coded poorly) will not recognize the internal SD space as available SD card space and will require you ti insert an external SD card. I will see if I can do something about the default apps (read: camera) that have this problem; other apps will need to be fixed by the developers.
Changelog:
CM6.1 Beta4:
Updated SD mappings for internal/external SD space to match standards (see note above)
Using latest available source from the CyanogenMod repo
Updated kernel to latest G Tablet version (still waiting on source so we can build our own)
Updated to the lasted drivers available for the G Tablet
Included updated libGLESv2 from nvidia (Angry Birds!)
Proper setup of CPU values - this allows the folio Flash APK to install properly
Matched fingerprint and device settings to latest G Tablet values
ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.3 (2010.12.11):
Added options for managing the internal SD card
Using latest available source from the CyanogenMod repo
ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.2 (2010.11.24):
Updated SD mappings to match standards (see note above)
Using latest available source from the CyanogenMod repo
Enjoy!

Nice may try it on one of the other g tabs I picked up today.
Thanks for all the work
Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!! and I will enjoy this for desert.
Works like a charm! We all love you! Now wish this damn camera would work right >_<
Awesome, Thank you for putting this together!
Do you know if it addresses the slowdown problem that was present in cmb2? (After using it for a while, browsing etc would slow down till you did a reset)
As usual amazing work. Everything is rock steady. Only things I added were Spare Parts to maximize some apps and a certain keyboard replacement that starts with S.
titanium backup is not seeing my internal sd card, is this a known issue? also i'm unable to mount sd or external sd to computer, the window closes when i try to. the rom seems to run smoothly though.
Thank you Bekit!
First time posting here in ages. Is there a trick to getting the audio working? No audio here, except for a freak accident. Not sure how or why it started working out of the blue, rebooted now it's gone again.

Same here and Kobo wants /mnt/sdcard. I've uninstalled both and re-installed in case something changed with beta4 that they'd cached but it didn't change anything. I've found the Titanium Backup official support site (www.legendroid.com/forumdisplay.php?27-Titanium-Backup-Official-Support) but haven't done through it yet ... turkey'd almost ready so it may be a while. Folks out east (or north or anywhere that this isn't a holiday) may wanna check in there.
EDIT: Meant to thank you, bekit, for your work on this. Sorry, was distracted by the smell of nearly done turkey!
No SD card here as well. Do I need to install the newest recovery?
Will be kinda hard to download anything.
Thanks for this update! As with all releases, I will try this one out as well. It's great to have choices in firmware, and at this stage, these firmwares are really-REALLY nice.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!!!

Mind=BLOWN! Thanks!
I can't get the recovery installed. Can I get an update.zip?
I can't install anything from the market. I keep getting not enough room on card? I have internal card selected in CM settings.
I tried installing this, making sure to put on the new clockwork and clearing user data, and when I was all done and went to reboot I got "magic value mismatch" no matter what I did. I was able to get into nvrecovery but flashing the old clockwork wouldn't fix it. I finally gave up and flashed the stock image to get going again, blowing away my internal SD titanium backups. Not a huge loss, but if anyone else is thinking about trying this, copy anything important off the internal SD just in case.
*edit*
Whoops, scratch that, apparently the nvrecovery stock image install doesn't wipe the SD, everything was there when I was done and flashed Clockwork again.
This is running well and I am seeing very smooth scrolling in the browser. That has been my biggest complaint with the gtablet.

Same thing happened to me. "magic value mismatch" It's not to magic, lol. Off to NVflash I go. (lost everything).
flashed new cwm 2.5.1.2, then flashed beta4... mismatch lameness

Try pluging in headphones and then take them out.
Had the same exact problem.
(Oops... missed the fact that it was already answered!)
Thank you SO much! This is finally a usable ROM for this hardware-rich unit.
I have two questions:
1. Can anyone compile/provide a tun.ko file for this kernel? I would like to use VPN Connections on this device.
2. Is anyone else experiencing odd slowdowns after the device wakes up? When I first boot the device works smoothly. After the device is off and then turned back on, I sometimes experience an unbelievably laggy performance...
Thanks in advace!

A few questions regarding RoyalGinger 1.3

I just flashed RoyalGinger 1.3 and had a few questions.
I formatted my SD card per the instructions and as I was flashing I realized I have a couple spare SD cards. For future updates can I keep my current sd card as is and swap out a spare formatted card and swap in the original after flashing?
Also I was wondering if there is a theme chooser like in CM rc1? I checked inside the CM settings and couldn't find one.
Last one, will I have issues with installing a launcher alternative from the marketplace with this ROM?
I apologize if these are noobish questions.
Thanks
The point of formatting the SD card is eliminating the possibility of old data left on it causing issues with a new install, so either do it and transfer files back (media, etc.) or don't do it at all.
If you open your app drawer you will find the theme chooser, it's just not in settings.
No, you shouldn't have major issues with launchers.
Ok, thanks for the help.

Like the poster above said formatting sd card is to ensure full compatibility. There is a theme chooser app and make sure you install the second launcher first before removing the stock one otherwise you will be screwed

1. Formatting the sdcard is optional, it's not really a big deal as fat as I know weather it's empty or not, so I wouldn't even bother.
2. The theme chooser is in the application drawer.
3. You can flash any alternative launcher you want, and if you like that launcher so much you want to make it your stock you can remove the stock launcher, I think the commands are in terminal
Remove_launcher stock.

MIUI Nook Color 1.9.16 on SD Card?

I have searched diligently and have yet to find specific instruction for creating a bootable SD card for my NC with MIUI Nook Color 1.9.16 (or any version of MIUI for that matter).
I am currently running a fully rooted version of 1.3 on the emmc and "all is well" and I need it left that way so as to continue having access to "in store reading" which I use quite a bit.
Have previously had CM7 and Phiremod running both internally and on an SD card at various times and tried to do a previous version of MIUI on the card using the same process without any luck.
Thanks in advance.
You can use verygreens method here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
Important part is to rename the miui zip like this -
'How to update to a new build:
put the new build you want to try on the first partition. (the name must be update-cm-*.zip or cm_encore_full*.zip or just update-*.zip)'
..and it should work fine
cheers,
Many thanks as that did the trick!
Loaded and running from SD card.
It installed/is using the new Market interface (3.1.3?).
Where are/is "My Apps" as I do not seem to be able to find it.
D/L Netflix and it runs just as it should but the soundlevel at max is quite a bit lower than on rooted 1.3.
Free Koi living wallpaper looks beautiful.
My Apps - strangely there isn't one, but this works nicely -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154299
Sound level - Download nook tweaks from market and change settings in that
Cheers,
What did you rename the MIUI file? I've tried it a couple different ways and checked the MD5's, but keep getting errors. Unless my SD card has been corrupted somehow (I used it for other SD boots before this, so not too likely), I can't think of anything else causing the problem.
Hi. I tried putting the MIUI zip in the root of the sd card and booted into recovery as stated. It was renamed as one of the cm7 updates and installation went as per normal. However, when I did boot up the nook was stuck looping the MIUI animation and did not finish. What did I do wrong?

Maybe just didn't wait long enough... the first boot takes a long time since the update script clears cache and dalvik cache.
Of course... this is just a wild guess since you didn't provide a whole lot of information... more information may yeild different feedback.

What kind of information? My nook color originally had the latest CM7 nightly on the sd card. I followed verygreen's method when I installed that. I used the NC normally. Then, I followed this thread and applied verygreen's method. I downloaded the MIUI rom from the miui thread, renamed it like the cm7 nightly zip ("cm_encore_full-253.zip") and put it in the root of the sd card. I put the sd card back in and booted via recovery. It installed and shut down. I turned it on again, and reached the MIUI globe thing. It was looping and stuck there for 30 minutes.
I've been thinking of trying miui.
If anybody has got.it running from SD please give the step-by-step procedure for the rest of us.
Thanks

I hate to revive a dead thread, but I have been trying everything I could read or download.
I am using the Size-agnostic installer from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
I am trying to flash MIUI 1.9.16 (MIUI.us_encore_1.9.16_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed_andmer) (http://goo-inside.me/miui/encore/)
I successfully installed CM7 to this Sandisk Class4 16gig microSD. Every time I try to flash MIUI, I re-burn the size agnostic card image, copy over the cm7-renamed MIUI ROM, and boot.
The installer seems to work, just like my CM7 installs. Then, when I try to reboot, it goes back to the installer (linux penguin at the top, goes through the motions of trying to flash another rom, when not finding anything, it shuts down).
I know I am missing something simple.
Am I to install CM7, then MIUI on top of it (without reburning the card)? Am I just using an SD-incompatible ROM? For those who were successful, where did you download the ROM from?
I know I have lots of questions, I hope you guys see my effort (that I don't just want someone to give me a quick fix), and I thank you in advance for your help.
Kind regards!

I'm certainly no expert, but I have flashed two different versions of MiUi to micro SD cards adn then worked fine. You do not need to do i over CM7. Like you, I prepared a clean SD and used the size agnostic procedure. I renamed the MiUi file to some that started with update-cm-
I got my MiUi file here:
http://roms.miui.us/
I used a program called SD Formatter to format the card.. then I used the 1.3 version installer. I sometimes had problems using winimage to create this sd card . You have to select the drive letter for the sd card and then use the "restore" choice on the menu.
David, thanks for your response. I had already wiped it and installed CM7, but when I saw your post, I gave MIUI one last try. I downloaded from that site, and BAM, it installed perfectly! Thanks heaps!

[Q] SD Partions for SD CM BOOT

Ok, I have run this install method 2x today http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957&highlight=verygreen+sd+bootable *VeryGreen*
Now, I am not new to rooting but haven't been keeping up with my nook as I passed it on. Went from CM7 stable to MIUI couldnt' stand the market issues and didn't want ot deal with removing the up dater..blah blah blah ok enough of that
I have followed the instructions and was have booted CM fine but each time I look at my SD card I only have the one partition. Should I be partitioning it myself before doing the steps metitioned or should the install make the partions for me then I just write the FAT or FAT32 (<---top of my head) myself post install.
I wanted a dual boot but figured I would wait for CM9 to come out and wanted to test the SD install. Also, the system seems laggy and I would attribute that to the card i'm using but was also wondering if maybe it was from the partitions? I believe the card is only showing 120 mb used and 14 unused.
Thanks, for any help I have been working on this for 3 days different scenerios and used searches but I get so many dated threads.
~D
If you are using windows you will only see the first partition.
Sent from space
That would be why, hadn't thought about that but was going to into partitioning i myself this evening in linux either would have seen this or been worse for the wear. Thanks, seems it's still not running as smooth and I am thinking it' the card, I'll just got with old faithful for now and work on it more after NYE have a trip coming up and would rather have it in state I know works.
Cheers

[Q] Huawei U8800 Can't install Aurora from 2.3GB (B528)

Hi guys, I have the Huawei U8800 and it has the Official Gingerbread (2.3.5) B528 ROM and I read that I need to have 2.3.5 to upgrade to Aurora ROM, I did root the device and installed Clockwork Mod 5.5.0.4 which is compatible with that rom. I did wipe dalvik cache, wiped user data and all that. But when I flash the rom, it gets stuck on the Huawei Boot Screen and when I turned it off and on again it installed Android 2.3.5 on its own. On the screen it said upgrade firmware step 1 out of 2, do not turn off device. Any help would be appriecated as I have searched high and low for a solution, so I did try to find someone with a similar problem but I still can't solve it.
I'm sorry, but I think you are not following the steps properly. Make sure you go through all steps thoroughly.
I DON'T KNOW IF YOU NEED CUSTOM PARTITION BUT I RECOMMEND YOU CUSTOM PARTITION YOUR PHONE SO YOU CAN INSTALL BIGGER ROMS!!! (here)
Go to my Xperia Style GB ROM (in my signature) and follow the steps there install a ROM, but use Aurora instead of my ROM.
I think the 2.3 GB ROM installs again before you still have the 'dload' folder on your sd card. The phone detects it and starts installing it again.
Wow thanks for such a quick reply, I will try to follow your steps. Thanks a lot!

That doesn't mean it is messed up.
The custom partition takes memory from your internal sdcard and dedicates it to your phone's internal memory. So, your internet sdcard's memory goes from 2GB to 1.46GB, and your phone's internal memory shoots to 1.2GB. This way, you can install bigger ROMs on your phone and install more apps on your phone.
I don't know about accessing the internal sdcard from your computer because I never even tried doing it.
Ok I managed to find a program on the PC that can read the internal sd card and it worked great! The weird thing is, I installed an Updated version of the same ROM (Elora 1.7.28) and it was much more unstable than the previous version, to be frank Im trying to understand if the developer is still updating the ROM or not since it is dated from 2012.
For example, downloading apps from the market were extremely slow and when I connected the phone to the PC, the PC didn't even detect I connected my phone and apart from that, usually in android it tells you to connect your device for usb storage, Android didn't even give me that.
So I restored to a backup I made of the previous version of the ROM (Elora v1.1.10 something like that) and connected to the PC works fine, android tells me for usb storage, and downloading apps from the market is extremely fast.
Although the phone is working quite well (Elora V1.1), some games like Real Racing 3, Frontline Commando and Frontline Commando D-Day didn't work. Apart from that its working quite well. Sorry for the long text.

remove dload folder on your internal and external sd card before flashing new rom
Yeah, in fact that did cross my mind. Yesterday I managed to repartition my card now I have ~2GB to install applications (Internal SD Card) thx guys. But I do have a problem Real Racing 3 tells me insufficient space although I do have enough space and it is installed on the internal SD Card and not the SD Card.
