For the first time of using Touch HD, I experiencing some freezes in the normal operation of my applications.
Explaing what I'm saying, when I'm using an applications sudendly it stops responding for 4-5 secs, or that happens even when I use the touch screen.
It is happening a few times and in no specific time intervals.
Does anyone knows anything about or face similar situation with me?

Wich "applications" are you talking about?
Because I use a lot of Resco Explorer, it is the firtst app that came in mind that I have seen the "freeze" problem.
Other times that I have seen is when I press the "X" to close an application.
I confirm this comportement with Resco Explorer: do you have installed cf3.5?
Yes, I have installed cf3.5
I get this in Opera and text messaging. Just becomes unresponsive for a few seconds. Is most annoying..
Noticed this as well, I don't think it is related to Resco Explorer, because it happened on my device when I was typing an email or sms and I don't have Resco Explorer installed. Not a big deal to me though, as long as I don't see it too often
That's the problem with new phones today, because of competition they are shipped with beta firmware. Then, a few months later, a new firmware is released and that's it because they are working on a new model.
(A good example is Touch Diamond)
What would you do if your car had a software bug that caused the engine to loose power a few seconds now and then?
Why should we be so forgiving because it's only a phone?
I'm tired of being an unpaid betatester
I have noticed this about 3 times just today whilst writing SMS. Very annoying indeed!
I've got the same problem. At random in Opera and in sms application. 2-3-4 seconds of... nothing!!!
The problem is that it came out after the first week... the first week never got stops.
Maybe, if we make a little list of programs we have on... soo too understand where the problem can be
I am not sure if it is an application related problem, because as I was trying to remember, I have the feeling that I have seen the problem even before install any kind of programs
Zakkosekk, I totally agree with you, when we have pay 700euro to buy a pocket pc, it has at least to be bugs free.

Yes, I have the same problem. Random freezing for a couple of seconds every once in awhile.
I also had this problem. After hard reset and reinstalling everything (incl. Resco), but without net cf 3.5 i do not have this problem anymore. looks like related to cf 3.5 ?
... Sorry, problem is still there

Hmmm, interesting. I do have .net running, but it's required for some apps.
I only installed cf3.5 today, and had this issue before and after, I don't think it's the problem. It is almost like some background app is taking all the cpu for a bit?
Same problem to mine!
I think we should let HTC see this thread!
i dont think cf3.5 is the problem. i dont have it installed
but expirience the same problem while texting and opera. it's very annoying!

I sent an email in HTC's technical support, with the topic's address.
I have noticed this problem also. We can easily check is it software related, does someone want to do hard reset and check?
no need for a hard reset, mine is brand new & i have nothig installed on it! but i have the problem.

Hey, I've looked around and searched some in the forums but haven't quite found what I'm looking for, sorry if this already been brought up.
Anyway, my Touch HD stops working while I run youtube application, this means, that the whole phone will lock/freeze itself and I can't even return by the "home" button and the phone won't even vibrate, it's just dead but the screen still shows. Same happens when I run TomTom and Media player at the same time, this really bothers me cause I'd like to be able to listen to music at the same time while I'm driving. The only way then to bring the phone back to life, is by using the restart button, and I really don't want to open my phone every 2 minutes just to restart it. Anyway, is there anyone who can help me with this? I have no idea what it can be...
Answers are really appreciated, thanks alot for reading and thanks in advance!
could be due to other installed programs... i would uninstall all programs except TomTom and YouTube and see if you have any problems. if not, then it could be due to one of more of the programs you removed. i would then add each program back to my device retest and if you have a problem you know its related to the program. if this process fails, then a hard-reset may be required to clear any issues.
So basically, my hd2 is not running smooth at all. Every time i do a rom update and then restore my contacts/messages/settings it keeps getting frozen and unresponsive. So I have to restart the device, but I don't know why it should be restarted anyway, isn't is kind of super fast?!?! So, now, when I recently updated my ROM, the device is so damn slow, that even after typing my PIN it takes a minute to launch htc sense and everything. When I'm moving through the tabs it's so damn laggy i can't stand it. . Is anyone else experiencing this????
To be honest, and I'm no expert, it sounds like you have some serious phone problems, probably out of your control. Not to sound like a pessimist but given how everyone else seems to be ok with the HD2, could be either a major rom/radio problem or hardware failure??
I've updated my hd2 using the official rom from HTC and, apart from the occasional lag i get from WinMo, my device runs sweet as a a proverbial nut. Especially as I have run the tweaks suggested by the forums here.
Given that you have said that you've upgraded the ROM and it's made no difference, the only thing i could suggest is possibly send it back under warranty?
Obviously, I'd wait and see if someone with more know-how has a better explanation, i'm merely giving you my POV.
Hope you get this sorted ASAP. A properly working HD2 is a marvellous thing.
All the best
To the OP,
There could be so many causes for your problems. I would start as follows:
- Take your SD card out and see if the phone boots and is not laggy with the card out
- If this does not work take a look at the SMS threads on here and see if the solutions there help you
- If no joy then read the Hints @ Tips thread on here, if you have not already done so, and pickup on the cache move tips, using the task manager to close open files, etc
- I that fails look for the thread "HD2 Died - or did it" and implement the solutions in there
- If that does not help and you have been flashing a fair few roms then hop over to the MTTY thread in rom development and see if that helps.
Plenty to be getting on with.
Hope you get it sorted.

My power up to sense loaded time = 55 secs.
Any different?
thanks for this quick reply. I am using Energy Leo ROM, but I don't think this could be the problem, or is it? Because I have performed a hard-reset now and it's running quite smooth again.. But the question is for how long.
Two questions I have now:
-does it happen to anyone, when you try to wake up the phone, screen doesn't wake up, only the keys in the bottom start to glow? It happened to me from time to time
-does anyone else experience missed key taps? When I tap something from time to time it just doesn't get recognized so I have to "retap" it...

I have experienced question 1 and 2.. however not alot or not frequent.. I tend to think that this is just a computer and computers do crash depending on whats going on.. The missed screen taps only happens once or twice when its playing up. I do have a screen protector on though so whether the dust, oil or screen protector is causing that is a different story, but isnt a big problem for me to remove the screen protector to find out.
so, the latest problem.. my hd2 had been running for ~16 hours without any problem now, but in last 10 minutes i had to restart it twice, because the screen stopped responding after i wanted to type new sms in a conversation (first time) and after i had a pop-up message about new sms (second time). As said before, I'm using energy rom, latest issue (17.2.). Could the problem be, in fact connected with this rom or specifically with sms software?
using cooked roms you can generally expect a few lockups and restarts.
Also, the screen not powering up, just the hard keys backlight is an issue across the board, from custom roms to official roms. Some roms seem to do it, some don't, but one that doesn't do it to me might well do it to you.

It has been mentioned before that if you have a large number of texts stored, it will take a while for it to allow you to reply to a text. (It has to go through the database, check for the texts sent by the user, then arrange them alongside the ones sent to them by you, then put them in chronological order, then display them, this takes time)
but i would presume the device should be working anyway (but slower, of course) and not flashing the display and being "frozen" ?
The frozen issue with texts is all in the SMS thread I pointed you to earlier. Solutions to the phone freezing are in the HD2 Died thread, again as I pointed out earlier.
How many of these potential solutions have you tried? Tryy these things first then come back if they don't work rather than make assumptions about your ROM.

after 3 months i still have the issue with missed strokes.. even after the latest energy rom update :\
anyone?
Hi
I have strange problem. I can't get angry birds to work on my wildfire - game starting and I can hear the sound, but there is only green or blue screen with part of background from the game on top of the screen and that's it... Before game was working fine, but slow (on wildpuzzle rom). Because I had too many problems with wildpuzzle I flashed cyanogen rom and from this moment my problems with angry birds started. Till this time I flashed three different roms and on every one is the same issue. Before every flash I did full wipe.
Do anybody else had similar problem? Why this is happening, is something wrong with the phone, as I know, this game should work on wildfire. Slow, but still...

You do if only green or blue screen push power button wait 2-3 second in sleep mod later to get out in sleep mod and play the game.
Not: My english not good
How many times do i have to tell people lol, it's all over the wildfire forums. When you're in the game, lock and unlock the screen. then it should work and you should see the menu .
I was thinking is something wrong with the phone, as the game was working before. Thanks for answer.

Uf man there you go. I dont think the OS can work without a kernel I am stunned it even boots!
jokes put aside
Well if this happens only after you close them whats the big deal?
I had this even on games I wanted to run, not just by exiting . And yeah I came across of it even whilst exiting .
Anyway lets hear from someone else some advice on this
oh boy does anyone has a solution for this?
are these games installed on the Internal or external sd
I've had this happen on a selection of games, most notably Dungeon Hunter by Gameloft. Doesn't really cause any problems, just irritating. Mine were all installed to internal SD
Hi All,
I'm one of the developers of Hungry MonstR. I can tell you that all the games you mentioned in the first post are games written using the Unity 3D middleware engine.
Unfortunately because we use a terrific product like Unity, we are sometimes locked in to some of the strange things it does.
One of those little "traits" is that when we tell the application to close it is doing something wrong and causing the vibrating and Force Close button.
Another annoying thing for Hungry MonstR is the latest version of Unity has made a bad splash screen bug for all Tegra2 devices. I am currently speaking with Unity and they have fixed the problem, but have not released the update to me yet.
The bug is that during the splash screen the game can/will freeze. To get around this if you put the device to sleep and wake it back up, it will continue on to load the game properly. Still we have many 1 star reviews on the Market because of this bug that we have no control over.
I really hope the next update we can release for Hungry MonstR will fix both the vibrate/force close and the freeze on splash screen bug.
Just as a heads up, we have integrated OpenFeint in to Hungry MonstR as well, but again I am trying to solve a freeze bug in it that only happens once on registration. OF should be in the next update to Hungry MonstR though.
Hope this helps relieve your frustration!
Cheers,
Ben.
