is there a good photo editor for windows mobile? I was looking for some autoadjustments, increase brightness, particularly for images on phone camera.
I think you may have posted this in the wrong section, but I'm not sure. A Moderator will move it if it is
The only one I know of is SPB Imageer.
That means you'll probably have to pay
Here are the features taken from SPB website:
•One-click slideshow with smooth transitions
•Multiple thumbnail options
•Picture editing (red-eye, brightness, contrast, and more)
•Storage card notification with common tasks
•Batch optimizing of photos
•Web publishing (Flickr, Fotki.com, and more)
•Album creation and sharing
•Rich picture notes (text, drawing, and sound)
•Powerful screenshot tool
It sounds great to me and not too badly priced I suppose ($14)
And you can always download the trial to see what it's like
Anyway, here is the link to the SPB Imageer page:

Hope this helps

download the the demo version of pocket artist. it can do a lot more than what you are asking for
Resco Photo Viewer Pro.
Conduits Pocket Artist.
It is just like Photoshop for PPC. and you can edit PSD files too!
XnView Pocket does a lot of basics (cropping, resizing, brightness, contrast, etc) and it's free.
+1 on Resco photo viewer pro

I just made some pics with my S110 and they are not that bad when photoshoped a little. So I'm searching something for my device that can do
- resize
- brightness
- contrast
- gamma
- levels
- noise reduction
ATM I use Imageer, is there a better one? I'm missing the noise reduction in Imageer and the pics are pretty noisy so that would be welcome to edit them a little and bring em down to 640x480 before sending by email.

Pocket Artist 3
Wow, first time I hear of that software. I'll check that out asap. Thanks again.
By the way, does this tool work on magicians? The office forum has posts indication it does not: http://www.conduits.com/community/forum_posts.asp?TID=406&PN=1
it should work on Magician, but anyway try the second option....it's a software called "Idruna Photogenics"...
RAGO
I know photogenics but its extremely old and has not been updated in a few years while the newest version from pocket artist is from this september. Not sure how good photogenics still is.

That's about v3.1. I have v3.0 and it works perfectly so. Check out version 3. Its really Photoshop in a portable form.
I use Pocket Artist 3.1 on my JAM with no problems. I do not associate any file types with it though, that may be an issue.
Tried the new one (version 3.11) yet? That one just came out a few days ago.
By the way, I have Imageer installed atm and if Pocket Artist is good I gonne remove that one. BUT Imageer is the viewer for img files atm and I'd like Pocket Artist to stay out (read that it is a little slow) as a viewer. How do I switch the file types back to album or the included viewer?
Edit: Tried Pocket Artist 3.11 and boy am I impressed. This is THE most powerful img tool for ppc. I'm off to buy that at once. Thanks again for that tip!!! Its not that good as a viewer (the first start is kinda slow) but HTC Album fills in nicely here. This is really the "Photoshop" for PDA.
You can also modify the registry to enable the "Editor" utility for the built-in Album program. It will allow you to resize, crop, change gamma, brightness, hue and contrast without installing any additional programs. It does not support layers of course!
Registry Modification as follows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/HTC/Album/Disable Editor: set it to 0
That is nice to know for sure. Thanks for that.
I was searching for an editor that has one important function/filter: reduce grain or reduce noise. And Pocket Artist is the only that offers that filter. Thing is if I take some pics with the cam at xl res and do some level correction, contrast enhancements and grain reduce and then finally resize them to 640x480 they look pretty good for emails. Without the grain/noise reduce they dont look too good at all so that filter is more important than anything else to me when I want to send pics away by email.
I dont need the most function out of Pocket Artist, I only need 4 or 5 after all but the noise reduction is very very important to me and I've not seen a PPC implementation of it besides Pocket Artist. And ancient img editor called Photogenics had that too but the latest version is from 2001 and that is bejond good and evil so Pocket Artist is basically the only choice. Besides the workflow is pretty similar to Photoshop, the filter options for level correction etc. work very much like Photoshop. So if you know how to get things done with Photoshop Pocket Artist is the best there is.
I have installed a few freeware programs which I think have not got as much attention and praise as they deserve at this website.
Instead of File explorer, I am using Total commander, which still will be my main file tool. But I have missed the opportunity to find files and to search for files by writing a word in the file. GSFinder+ offers these opportunities. Go to http://page.freett.com/todamitsu/GSFinderE.htm
The built-in graphics software is very limited. If we want to make major revision of graphics, we will of course do it on the PC. But it is still nice to have a few more possibilities on the Universal. This is offered by XnView Pocket. The program loads the graphics faster and lets you resize the pictures, adjust brightness, contrast and gamma, convert it to other file formats, crop, sharpen, smooth and reduce noise. It is also reads 13 different graphic formats. Go to http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=877
I have also installed Pocket Notepad. Strictly speaking, a notepad is not important on the Universal which loads Word Mobile so quickly. But I somehow feel that the suite of programs is more complete with the notepad. Go to http://tillanosoft.com/ce/pnotepad.html
Thank you....
Thank you very much hansof! I have been looking for a light and freeware tif image viewer and I finally found one with your help! Great softs! Keep those recomendations coming!!!

Folks,
I have created a small photo viewing application that I wanted to publish to the world. Key features are
- Native C code. No dependencies on .NET or any other library
- Tiny (just 25Kb)
- Full screen photos with gestures and hot-spots
- Slide-show mode
- Nice transitions (you can see them all in the slide show mode)
I have tested this on my GPS (CE 4.2) and PDA (Hermes) and it works quite well.
Gestures:
- Slide left to go to next photo in list (You can also use the wheel down for this)
- Slide right to go to previous photo list (You can also use the wheel up for this)
- Slide up to go to last photo in list
- Slide down to go to first photo in list
Hot Spots
- Top left to open a specific folder. Folder navigation is done by sliding up and down and select the <This Folder> to select
- Bottom left to open a specific photo. Again, you can slide up or down or go to a specific folder
- Bottom Right to start/stop slide show mode. Slideshow is 3 seconds. You can change the config file to specify different interval
- Top right to exit
- Right edge of screen to go to next photo in list
- Left edge of screen to go to previous photo list (You can also use the wheel up for this)
- Bottom edge of screen to go to last photo in list
- Top edge of screen to go to first photo in list
Configuration
CEPhotoViewer saves its configuration in CEPhotoViewer.cfg in the same folder as the exe. This file contains the last open folder and the slide show timeout
Startup
- On startup CEPhotoViewer looks for any JPG/BMP/GIF images in the program's folder. Else it prompts you to select a folder. Once selected the config file is created and subsequent runs, it will automatically pickup that folder
Bugs
- CEPhotoViewer uses native microsoft DLL to load a image. Depending on the speed of your CPU, this loading might be slow. Photos resized to the correct size (under 640x480) load pretty quickly. Large (2MP+) photos take a couple of seconds to load. Perhaps someday I will include native JPG loading codeDone
- CEPhotoViewer is built for ARM CPUs only. I can build for other CPUs but dont have a device handy
Looking forward to your comments. Im also working on finishing a MP3 player and a launcher (more appropriate for GPS devices)
Version history
- v0.67 (3/25/2008)
First public release- v0.68 (3/26/2008)
Integrated JPEG processing. Much faster in loading big images (although the size tripled from 20Kb to 60Kb)Added edge hot-spots to navigate in addition to slide gestures
Feature Request
What do you think of adding in touch Pan, Tilt, Zoom, & Rotate? Also, it would be cool if it auto rotated based on the original pictures orientation.
Thanks,
Curious G
i'll give this a shot when i get home

Forgot to mention, pictures are auto-rotated if they can fit better in the screen. Also auto-rotates if you change the display (like when I pull out the keyboard)
Nice but it wouldn't load my actual (2mp) photos. Sliding is a bit slow but very smooth. Wouldn't quit and at some point all corners stopped working.

Loading large images is time consuming, sorry, thats the way microsoft has implemented JPG processing. The corners are not 'not responding', the program is still trying to load the image.
Im trying to compile ijl jpg library that can loaded scaled images, that way I only decompress the size I want
3/26 - Version updated
Guess I'm in the minority who resizes images to fit in PDA screen. Due to popular demand, I have integrated the IJG jpeg library to considerably speed up loading of large images (largely due to internal image scaling)
Also added edge hotspots to navigate images, rather than slides which are bit cumbersome
my personal opinion(i havent seen program YET):
any viewer, that cannot show gif/animgif/png/tga/bmp files is pointless.
it doesn't matter how "touch"-ed it will be.
so - i am gonna update opinion after tests..

It does show gif and bmp. Adding png is trivial (libpng can be compiled easily in CE, both PNG and TIF take about 100Kb each). My intent is to what cover 80% of the people would want.
Just tried it on my Trinity and, while the transition speed is nothing to write home about, the software works. Not sure if i prefer this or S2V, but it has to be said this is a nice application.
Edit
Could do with more space at the top when navigating folders, the directory path disappers under the "This Folder" button.
Please could we have screenshots?

It shows your photo on the full screen, so screenshots are not of any use

The main goal of writing this app was to have it working on all CE devices (including GPS that do not have the .NET framework installed).
Also, there are more transitions than just the slides that are visible when you are in slide-show mode
Amazing Program!!
I've just gotten myself a windows mobile phone. I looked everywhere for a simple photo viewer that could scroll through images by tapping on the left or right of the screen. I didnt understand why resco photoviewer or pqv or any of those other photo viewers didnt have this feature. It was so frustrating.
Also I wanted to browse folders starting at a pre-configured Picture folder. I didnt want the program to go scanning my whole PDA for pics including gifs and pngs for some other softwares.
Finally found this program and I'm really happy.
I wonder if you're still developing this program though? This thread doesnt seem to be active anymore. I hope you'll still continue developing this program.
If you're too busy, I'd be happy to help in some aspects of coding or improving the program. It really is that amazing to me.
Hope this program is still alive.

Glad to hear that this application is working well for you.
I have not stopped development on this, added additional features like PNG, GIF decoding and automatic rotation.
This being a PPC forum, there is not much need for this app since there are multiple options (including built-in applications). I had made this app and many others primarily for GPS and other low end devices without the standard libraries.
I will update this thread with the latest version and also add other applications I have built (including native MP3/OGG player, simple shell, GPS dashboard etc), all totally skinnable and configurable
The program has been amazing. Loads huge pictures with no problem. It's definitely faster than Vito's EyePhoto.
But Coolsva, I have a question. Now call me crazy, but I want to be able to set it up so that when I click a jpg file in file explorer or total commander, it will open up in your photoviewer instead of the windows mobile default viewer (coz it sucks). What're the parameters to do so? I tried the normal parameter "%1" but it doesn't seem to work.
I'm glad you're still working on this program.
Cool program , but zoom would be nice feature

Looks interesting, please do it !
Just now landed at this thread after spending a while checking out google results for "windows mobile picture viewer". Coolsva's prog sounds very worth trying, but I'm wondering if 0.68 is still the latest release?

Hi all,
I used to be really enthused by the small video editing app included in my Sony Ericsson fans. It was very useful to edit video, make personal editing etc... to send via MMS. Assembling clips was made easy and intuitive.
I can't find such an app for pocket PC. I stumbled onto http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile. It's a useful editing software with cutting edge graphix, but not free and quite cumbersome to use...
Do you happen to know a complete video editing software for our beloved pocket pc? It SHOULD exist but I could'nt find anything out there...
THX a lot !
I found nothing.. I hope there will be some video editing software some day, i had a sony ericsson phone, and they have this simple video editing software called VideoDJ. So maybe there will be one to ppc too...
I don't know about video editing for PPC (maybe there r some) , but I think You don't need such a program, you can
edit it by using PC (with many video editing programs) and export the file..

New Version of TrakAxPC for VGA devices
Hi Cormac here from TrakAxMobile.
Just a quick note to say we have released a new version of trakAxmobile for VGA devices.
Here is quick list of the improvements we have made.
1) We have improved the search function, allowing you to search your content by day/month/year. You can also highlight a number of days/months or years. This will allow you find the media on your device much quicker.
2) We have also improved the editing. We now decompress the file when you click on the edit button allowing you to access time positions in the file quicker and easier. When editing audio you can just highlight the area you wish to cut on the waveform with your stylus.
3) We now allow you to crop photos and you can add a ken burns effect to photos allowing you to Pan and Zoom into particular areas of the photo.
4) We have added a whole range of new transitions.
5) In the mixing screen, you can now control the tempo of the media by switching the slider function from volume to tempo. The slider now allows to slow down or speed up the clip. This is cool if you want a video clip to play in slow motion or wish to speed it up. The same applies to audio, you can speed it up or slow it down by adjusting the slider.
6) We now also allow you add themes and effects to videos or photos. You can also change the color of the text and add background colors to your credits.
You can check out the new features at our website -
http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile/trakaxmobile_vga_devices/
and there is a 7 day free trial available from the following link.
http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile/trial_version/
Check it out and if you have any question, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards
Cormac
Been using trakAx for a while now - awesome app!!!
Just be patient when its rendering your clips as it can take a while - its got a lot of processing to do.
Output is only 640x480 though I think
hey guys,
im looking for an app that can make different camera effects. fisheye, framrs, etc.
I know there is Resco Photo editor. I use that to edit photos like color corrections and tweaking..things like that. But I would be very interested in a app with different effects and filters.
http://www.xnviewpocket.org/
looking for something more like fxcamera or Adobe PhotoShop thatd available free on Android. not like around $65 for the first one mentioned above.
