Custom Txt Message rings (and storage) - Dash 3G, Snap General

Is there a way (And if so, how) to set per-contact text message tones?
Also, can I change it so my text tones are stored on my sd card?

Check out InboxTones, although it is not free.

Managing sounds and notifications

Is there any way of making my magician play my normal message tone, but shutup when I open it? (I have a long message tone - and I want to keep it) also would like to know if there is a fix for stopping full message alerts when in a call, and maybe change for a discreet tone.
message alert tone
Soory to other you but nobody is answering my blog, and you seem to have solved my problem. When i try to change my message alert tone ,hte only options i am given are the default message alerts, ive tried copying tones into the windows ring folder but still only get default tonesthe previuos process works fine for my ring tone, can you help?
Your notifications have to be in wav format. Or they will not work.
-This goes into the /windows folder
Ringtones can be in midi/wav or mp3 format
-This goes to the /windows/ringtones
Here are some wav files I made which you can try out
Free Female Voice Wav Alerts

Thanx for your speedy reply, cant look at link till work unblocks internet at break time but i`ll check them out, is there any way of converting my current message alert tones that i cant use to wav

Text Message Sound Notifications

What sounds do my music have ot be in to use as a sms notification sound aleart? and also where do i have to save them on my phone to work.
ive got mp3 to work as ringtones but i want some sound clips to use as sms sounds.
thank you once again for your help guys and girls
The sms alerts need to be .wav files and copied to your \windows folder or the root directory of the storage card
Have a look at the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271390&highlight=sms+alerts
when u say root directory of my storage card can u explain please thanx
The Root Directory is the highest level directory in your storage card. Meaning, drop the file inside your storage card, but not inside any folders within your storage card because the phone will not be able to detect them.
You can also try Pocket Ringo, which allows you to chose MP3 ringtones for your ringer and text messages, and allows you to customize ringtones for groups or individuals. Its a great program!

Message alerts

What does one have to do to personalise message alert tones on the S200? I have downloaded my personal tones onto the phone (MP3s) but I do not see them show up in the list when I attempt to select one as a message alert tone.
must be .wav and into the windows dir... try it...
so be it - manemoi

That great, thanks.

SMS to storage card

I know there's a lot of programs that let you back up and manage your sms on a storage card or desktop - but what I'm wondering is if there is a way to make incoming/outgoing SMS' stored directly into the storage card rather than taking up space on the device by default?
I've done a search on this but couldn't find anything.
Thanks in advance!
when the device is off sd interface is 100% disabled to save batt
the device wakes up when it recieve an sms
it would not be able to recieve an sms if i was trying to store it on a
at that point nonexisting media
So what you're saying is that there is no way to make the default sms messages to be stored onto storage rather than system?
Do you guys periodically delete all sms' on your ppc to save space? Or are these sms' really insignificant in terms of space taken up?
Thanks
i guess if one did a program which would hook to the dll that recieve sms's
and when the device had sd contact it could move the sms to the sd card
and display all sms's moved there
but it could be issues with the sms's being in that db structure
i delete sms's i read unless i need to keep them for some reason
rarely have more then 7sms's in my box
sms's are pure text so they really should not take up that much room
if it's ascii 8bit per char and 16 if it's unicode
an ascii sms is 160chars and as 8bit is a byte
it's 160bytes pr. sms
you need alot of those for the storage to get full
of cause irl an sms stored would prob end up a bit bigger
if for no other reason that the sectors of the storage will prob not
save that small values

Changing the Notification (SMS) sound

Is it possible to change the notification sound to something that is NOT in the list of available sounds that were supplied with the phone?
I can set ringtones easily from my MP3 list, but didn't find a way to set a WAV/MP3 to be my notification sound...
get ringdroid from the market. Should help.
Put the mp3 file on the SD card in the folder:
Android\Media\Audio\Notifications
mount the SD card
Then open SMS app, properties and select the mp3 as ringtone
Ah - simple
Thanks!
is there any way to get a different notification for emails, and a different one for sms?

Click to collapse
when you open each app (email and messaging) just hit menu>settings and choose the notification ringtone for each there. it can adhere to the default notification as set in the main settings panel, or use its own.
